Ordered a chicken souvlaki with 2 skewers and pita bread. Their chicken is seasoned. One of the skewers was so dry. Pita bread is also kinda dry. Comes with homemade sauce taziki. I had this place bookmarked for some time now. And I was finally able to stop by after Yelpie awards event which was really fun. It was getting late so I ordered for pickup. There was a confusion in my order, I ordered the lamb gyro and the person on the phone mentioned if I wanted the grilled lamb gyro and I said is that the lamb gyro that gets cooked on that gyro cooker and the person responded saying yes it's the grilled lamb gyro. This place has the best fries! Kinda weird for a gyro place but hear me out. The fries by themselves are delicious, double fried and always crunchy. I get their loaded fries with feta, tzatziki, Efi's sauce and shaved chicken and pork. Again, all crunchy even with the saucy toppings. Onasis has helped me the last two times I came in. Stopped by for a casual dinner and was pleasantly surprised. I love Greek food but typically don't eat at more casual places. My fiancé and I ordered the chicken platter and it came with a good portion of food. The only downside is I prefer tender chunks of grilled (souvlaki) and this wasn't served souvlaki style. A solid fast causal spot, close to the Wellmont. We went here before a show to grab a quick bite, and I can say this place is great. We both started with rice bowls with lamb, and a Greek salad. The pandemic changed a lot of things. The way that I work changed. I usually skip lunch, or I eat at my desk while I'm working now. I don't see that habit changing any time soon. At this rate w/ inflation and some companies having to layoff folks... I'm thankful to have a job. Anyway. I was in New Jersey for work and stayed at a hotel about a block away from this place. I was flabbergasted because of the humidity, the fact that I woke up at 5AM EST to workout made my hunger pangs grew worse. I didn't eat anything all day and was looking forward to some solo dining. The one thing I love about traveling for work is that I get to enjoy a meal by myself. I don't get alone time. I ordered their grilled lamb platter, a diet soda, and a Spanakopita. Good quality has gone down tremendously since they've opened the second location in JC. I've been coming here since they've opened and the chicken use to be crispy and flavorful...now fatty barely cooked chicken. I always order ahead of time and my order is always ready 15-30 minutes after the estimated pick up time. Great fast casual place. Ended up here after a changed plan and we loved it. The place is busy with take out orders and they have a couple of tables to enjoy the food there. We got the lamb bowl,chicken bowl and a kids crispy chicken plate. I've been coming here for years!!! The most authentic Greek food I've had here in the states. Everything on the menu is a hit. The food takes about 10 minutes if you order in-person. Everything is fresh, tasty, and quality. There is limited seating indoors but plenty of additional seating outside to immerse yourself in the Montclair streetscape. As a vegetarian, my typical gyro is just veggies and sauce so it was nice having a plant based meat option. Efi's is a small but mighty spot with a couple of tables to sit and enjoy your meal. Their food will blow you away! I opted on the plant based gyro (Imported pita from Greece, homemade tzatziki, tomato, onion and fries) and added tzatziki. I also ordered a side of greek fries w/ feta and a bougatsa (Greek Homemade vanilla sweet cream pie). I was also suggested the VIkos carbonated drink. I am not a soda drinker so I was hesitant but the staff told me cherry is their fave and it is not my fave as well! The staff was super sweet! I even told them I am visiting Greece this summer and they told me to stop by before my trip for recommendations. It's a simple menu which makes ordering easy. We ordered 2 chicken gyros, which is essentially chicken, red onions, french fries and tzatziki on a pita. Prices are reasonable, I believe our total came to under $25 for two. It was made up quick and put into takeout boxes. They were packaged very nicely inside boxes, which helped them to stay warm and in place in transit. The gyro was delicious. One of the best in the area.
