Seafood appetizer for 2 was not cheap, but they didn't skimp. Good portions of octopus squid shrimp grilled well in a nice sauce. Whole Bronzino was the ultimate test. They did fine. It was a big fish, enough for us to share. Grilled well, moist and with tasty sauce which didn't overwhelm. Lemon potato was a hit. Next time I would go for Greek salad instead of house. This place is the absolute best! Of ALL the greek restaurants around, this one is the closest thing to being in Greece. Everything is cooked so well, tastes so delicious and the service is excellent. Went here last night with another couple before seeing a show at The Welmont. Great location because you can park your car at restaurant and walk to theater. This place is a BYOB. We started out by sharing a Greek salad. Well prepared and a small is enough for 2 to split. For mains our friend had the shrimp kabobs and the tiger prawns. My buddy said the tiger prawns were very good , but the shrimp kabobs were just ok. My wife had the chicken kabobs and enjoyed them and I had the beef and lamb gyro, also good. Came on a weekend day with a big group of 10 with a reservation. Service was friendly and timely. Big menu with lots of options for all different palates. 1. Zucchini chips - Delicious, fried, wish it was a little less salty. Came with tzatziki. 2. Prawns - Amazing. 3 huge prawns that filled me up and my plate was clean by the end. 3. Recently my family and I dined at Greek Taverna a restaurant located at 292 Bloomfield Ave in Montclair NJ. I had no complaints of the food and service which were fine. However I did have a problem. When we were seated and the server was taking our drink orders, I stated I just wanted water. I was told by the server that they could not serve water due to a problem with the filtering system and water was unavailable for a customer to consume. However if I wanted to drink water I would have to pay $7.50 per bottle. If water could not be consumed by a customer due to a potential hazard, then how can they operate a restaurant for public dining with a questionable water supply? The server and Manager was unable to answer my question. In my opinion it was just a way in order for a person to drink normal water was to pay $7.50 a bottle. This is a rip off and not the correct way to treat a customer. The water comes out of the same system for human consummation or used to prepare food. Ordered through Uber Eats so I could get ready and eat before going out. Ordering was easy, the food came with time to spare. I had the 1 stick souvlaki (chicken) with the housemade chipotle sauce. OK. I've had better Greek food for sure, but the old man was nice. I did love their homemade fries the cut was different and seasoned perfectly the only issue was serving them to me soggy. It was either water on my plate that wasn't dried or water spilled on my plate. So I couldn't eat them all. The gyro was not good but I finished it all. read more

They have their own parking lot on the side of the building. I cheated on my diet for my friends birthday so you wouldn't have to. If your vegan you can have the falafel, fries and hummus. I ordered a vegetable Mousaka but I'm pretty sure they put some cheese in there. I wasn't too impressed with the hummus. Everybody I was with really enjoyed the food. They got calamari, fish, and some melted cheese appetizer. When we split the bill it was really expensive, but I think we had a few bottles of wine. The place had decorative chickens all over the place. I tried to find info in the connections between Greece & chicken but couldn't find anything, so if you go you might want to ask them. Greek Taverna is pretty solid in my book. I usually order takeout via Uber eats or on occasion I'll order and pick it up myself. But today I had some free time during lunch and decided to stop by and check out the dining experience here. Upon entering I was greeted by a lovely and attentive lady and was quickly seated and handed a menu. She asked me if I wanted anything to drink and told me to take my time looking over the menu. She returned quickly with my drink and proceeded to take my order. So today I wasn't in the mood for something light, I need a hardy meal today. So I ordered Lamb Souvlaki Wrap with Greek fries an extra tzatziki sauce. I always need extra tzatziki sauce! Anyway, the food didn't take very long to come out. Which was wonderful for me because I was starving. So about the lamp wrap, what can I say it was a pretty solid Lamp Gyro. All the ingredients were fresh. The tzatziki sauce tasted wonderful as always and the lamb was cooked to perfection! There isn't really much to say about this place. It truly is just your every day normal Greek restaurant. There's nothing fancy about this place. There's no bar so they don't serve alcohol, but it is a BYOB. So don't forget to bring your favorite bottle wine when your dining here! I lived on an island for over a decade, so I am a bit skeptical to order fish when we go out because I'm always comparing freshness and flavor to the Mediterranean. Since a friend of ours highly recommended for us to get the Branzino, we did. I was mind blown. You cannot compare the quality, freshness and taste to anywhere else. Their potatoes melted in your mouth, and along with everything else was so flavorful and amazingly delicious. The service was on point and ambience reminded me of the taverna's in Cyprus & Greece. We were there this Saturday and the atmosphere was so quaint and lovely. The waiter was so accommodating. The owner Nick was so nice. We had ordered the appetizer for 2 which was great and yummy and very filling. We each ordered an entree gyro platter which my husband loved and I ordered a chicken gyro. We were both full from the appetizers that we ended up taking home the entrees. We of course had greek coffee and shared a dessert I wish I could remember it but it was so yummy and delish! I returned twice for takeout both times For the salad. One with chicken added, I didn't enjoy the sliced chicken, it lacked seasoning. Second visit, the chicken kabob perfectly cooked and seasoned. The steak was a perfect medium rare, the lamb was tender even though it was medium, rice was delicious and not dry, calamari was perfectly crispy and fresh, the branzino was flaky and juicy, and the dips were flavorful. Stopped in for an early dinner and had no problem getting a table. We really enjoyed the halloumi and falafel appetizers. We ordered a few different skewers that were tasty too! That was a lie and the waiter was caught in the lie. The 4th dish arrived when the other 3 people finished their meal. He never put in the order. Unprofessional owner: he didn't take off the error 4th dish. Regrettable I won't be recommending this place not ever deal with an owner who doesn't know how to do the right thing.
