FINALLY!! My natural hair color is medium brown and I have been getting balayage to get bright blonde on the ends. Despite having done this every 2-3 months for the last four *years* or so, my hair color is always more of a honey (when I want closer to platinum) and the stylist always tells me it will take another process to get where I want. You'd think after getting it done that many times, we would have gotten there by now... I showed Brianna some photos and asked (like I always do) to get it as light as you can. She is the first to actually get my hair much lighter and very close to what I've been wanting! Finally! I'm very pleased with the service. I purchased a groupon for "Full Foil or Balayage Highlights, Haircut, and Styling". The deal cost me $92. Having heard good things about this salon, I was looking forward to loving my hair afterwards. This was definitely not the case. The stylist would not do the balayage highlights I wanted. She stated that she could only do blonde shades due to time constraints. I've had balayage before, so what she's saying is she doesn't have time to properly tone my hair. She also gave me a quick haircut, which when I straightened later, I can see is not even. The left side is longer than the right. My hair doesn't look horrendous but honestly, if I had known this salon treats groupon customers like this, I would have spent my $92 elsewhere. Well, I grew my hair out for a year to achieve hair I always wanted just to have Stan the man himself completely ruin it. The cut took 20 minutes and my hair was ruined because Stan completely disregarded everything I asked him to do and he cut and styled it his own way. It is gonna take months for my hair to grow back and I will not be going back to Stan To be fair, if you have short hair and only want short hair, Stan can probably get it done. This place looks like the place having all the people just learn how to do hair within a year. They sell groupon for their people to practice on your hair. First time i bought groupon to do this kind of service and will be the the last time. I have never rated anything on Yelp but this time I have to actually log in and write a comment about this place. I chose Zoe as people on here recommend. And different all the good things people talked about her. She is rude and not a very good listener. She asked me what i wanted to do with my hair and stop me in the middle and be like "we dont have time for that". What do you mean you dont have time? I came here for what i wanted to do. If you dont have time i reschedule! While doing my hair, she was rush and not careful at all. she leave a huge mark on my forehead which not i dont know when i can clean it up. She also has terrible customer's service. She literally cut my hair like the way i cut hair for my little sister when she was 5. Like using the scissor cut straight horizontally. When i told her to make it a little curve, she showed her attitude and made me feel like i'm annoying. Didnt even say goodbye to me, just left me go to the cashier myself because she is busy gossiping with her co-worker. At the end of the day, i told myself that i deserved what i paid for. But wanna tell people my experience so nobody will be in the same situation. read more

This is MY salon. I still drive back just to get my hair done by Ashley, even though I've moved to the eastside. Ashley is the best. I love her, she always does excellent work on my hair! She's friendly, professional, and knows what she's doing. She can make you look edgy or not... but no matter what look you're going for she'll get you there. She's honest about changing the color in your hair, and what cut and color will look good on you. You've gotta respect someone who will be honest with you, and not send you our looking like a hot mess. I've always been impressed with her skills as a colorist. I've had virtually every hair color combination you can have and she has pulled it off every time! Seriously, she's given me blonde (all the way up to platinum), blonde with very dark brown underneath, blonde with fuchsia, auburn, auburn with black underneath, brown. She took me from auburn and black, back to blonde. And although the process took a couple months, she found a way to make my hair color look amazing each time. If you love hair color like I do, GO TO ASHLEY! I'm currently seeing Erin (who is right next to her) since Ashley is out, and Erin is excellent too! I've gotten brow waxes there too, each girl that has helped me has been excellent. The girls at the front desk are very nice, and always remember me. I went here when I lived at home in the area, I've driven from Mercer Island, and I now drive from Redmond/Sammamish... and I wouldn't have it any other way. She had so much knowledge about all the hair products and also about just hair in general and how to care for it. I have been going to Stan Parente in Maple Valley for over 10 years and cannot express enough how pleased and happy I am with the stylists, reception staff and the salon. Kristy has been my stylist during this time and has helped me achieve the perfect hair color and style. Over the last few years, I transitioned from being a redhead to a blonde and the transformation has been amazing. When I was a redhead my hair coloring was always spot on thanks to Kristy's amazing work- I always received compliments on how pretty it was. As I have grown older it became more challenging to hide the gray and white without going to the salon every 3 weeks. Kristy suggested going blonde. I agreed and she developed a plan to transition my color from red to blonde in a multi-step process that ensured my hair was healthy and not damaged during the transition. My hair looks and feels amazing. The style (cut) has kept me feeling and looking younger than my years. It is true Kristy can do magic. I started coming to Stan Parente Salon for a couple of reasons. One because I went to high-school with one of the girls, and 2 I wanted to see what all the hype was all about. When I first told someone I was going to this salon I was told that it's SUPER expensive. I'm not one to believe until facts proven. The first time I entered the salon, I was greeted with a smile, and a very homey salon feel! The wait wasn't longer than 10 minutes and I was offered water with lemon or some other fancy stuff ;). When I was directed back to Shandrica's station she made it so comforting! I've always been the person that just says do what you think will look good, and I've had my share times of leaving a place disappointed. Not one time have I EVER left this place unhappy, I leave feeling beautiful and more educated every time. We stick to my budget, and I never leave not knowing price point. I would disagree that this salon is "expensive" you are paying professionals to work on your hair, and they have a great "fix it" policy! I don't know about you, but id rather pay a little extra to know if I don't like it, it will get taken care of on their time. Seriously, I had the most considerate, attentive stylist experience with Zoe that I have ever had in a salon. She spent time really hearing me out and gave me some terrific input about my color and options. In the end I got a phenomenal new color and cut that has turned me from fairgrounds to fabulous!
