I came in with a huge breakout over my chin and told her that it was happening due to my retinol treatment. She advised me to stop the retinol (which is the opposite of the advice I had been given since my skin is likely purging from it but will stop once it runs its course). During the treatment I never felt her cleanse my skin (which she insisted that she did) or apply serums or creams, I felt barely anything go on and only light touches from her. She never told me what she was putting on my skin. To my horror, at the end she advised that I use neosporin on my acne and do honey masks. Both of which are not advised by anything you see online. I had to rush home to wash my skin in fear that the neosporin would start to do damage immediately. She offered to have my come back for free to do extractions but I will not return, to say the least. I am sure that this woman provides adequate facials to those with normal skin but I would never advise someone with serious acne seeing her.

What a difference 40 years makes…read more I was at the Salish Lodge on a business trip for a week in 1989, and it was one of the most lovely experiences I've ever had. By the end of the first day, every valet and front desk person knew all of us by name, and they bent over backward to be helpful and treat us like valued guests even though we were working an event and weren't the ones paying for the rooms. (Our company had bought out the entire lodge, which was much smaller at the time.) All the guest rooms at that time faced the river and had a beautiful view of it. Not so anymore, as they've renovated the lodge and many rooms have either no view or a view of trees (definitely beautiful) but not the river. The latter was our experience. There was a tiny glimpse to be had if you peered far off to the right, but otherwise our view was the trees. This was disappointing simply because we didn't know the place had been added on to and now had non-river view rooms. My husband, who had given me this trip as a Christmas present, was very disappointed and asked if there were any river view rooms available instead. Sure -- for $700. (No thanks.) We stayed in our $400+ tree view room instead, but honestly, this room is about $250 overpriced. For that price, one would expect everything to be in perfect condition, plus a large-ish room. Not the case in ours. It's smaller than the size of a standard La Quinta or Comfort Inn type of room, has no dresser or drawers to unpack your clothes (unless you remove the iron from the 6"x6" drawer it's stored in), and the "closet" is an IKEA-like unit in the entryway of the room. There's a fireplace, a TV, and a small desk, plus two chairs crammed into the corner, and a narrow balcony outside to listen to -- not see -- the river. The bathroom has a shower with two rain-style shower heads, so bring something to cover your hair if you don't want to drench it every time you shower. (The hotel doesn't provide shower caps -- only a small bottle of lotion and some Q-tips and a make-up removal wipe that doesn't remove makeup. It's just to keep you from getting it on the white towels.) As to the room's condition -- There are lamps on each side of the bed. Mine had a wonky switch that had to be jiggled just so in order to work. It's supposed to be dimmable, but mine was either on or off. There is also a reading light built into the headboard. Mine didn't work. Also, water was shooting out the side of one of the shower heads where it connects to the pipe in the wall. I did tell the front desk the next morning, and they offered to move us to another room. I didn't want to have to pack up all my stuff and move to another room that may have had less of a view than we already had, so I told them we were leaving for the day and asked that someone come in to fix the issues. They did, but about six hours after I put in the request, my husband received a text asking when it would be convenient for them to come in. Needless to say, communication between the staff isn't great. As of this writing (getting ready to check out on Day 4), now the fireplace isn't working. It stopped last nigh

Parking is available in their small garage but only for 3 hours (validated online with a code Yuan Spa provides). Otherwise there's street parking. Arriving early is a plus to use the washroom or relax in their lounge area with snacks (wasabi peas, banana chips, and honey pretzel sticks) and hot tea. Shoutout to Jessica and Emma for our massages. They were extremely comforting and the hour flew by insanely quick. Hydrotherapy is self guided between a hot pool, cool pool, steam room, and dry sauna. All are soothing but many gyms have these as well, so I'm torn whether it's worth it. However, definitely a nice supplement to other services here in the same location, which is a fair argument. One thing I hate is the check out process. After checking out, they'll ask if "you'd like to add a gratuity" which I always feel is just a darker practice in the social moment. A good massage deserves a tip for quality service, but hydrotherapy feels like an interesting gray area. However, it's easier to just give a percentage on the total amount. On the flip side, I love how they also provide up to 30 minutes buffer after hydrotherapy (maybe also other services, but we ended on hydro) to shower and leave. Passing that half hour mark would result in a charge rounded up to the next hour.

It's been months since my Stan Parente hair tragedy and I debated whether to leave a review or just let it go, but I am STILL dealing with the repercussions of what their "elite stylist" did to my hair, and personally I would have wanted to know what I was getting into when I booked here. I went in to have my balayage died back to my natural hair color and the stylist dyed my hair BLACK. It looked like I did it at home with a box color it was so horrendous and lifeless. As a new mom who was already feeling a bit off, it absolutely crushed my self esteem. I was devastated. They offered to help me fix it and I declined, asking for a refund (which they only gave me a partial refund) and opted to go to another salon. After various salons and various color removers, toners, etc. my hair was slightly lighter but my normally ash brown hair was left with an unsightly red tint. I ended up having to travel to a salon in Bellingham and finally found someone who could help my hair not look completely terrible. We ended up using a green gloss to neutralize the red, then did a pretty heavy balayage. I'm basically blonde now just tying to get rid of this horrid red I was left with. While I'm happy with where my hair is now, it is significantly more damaged and I am out *tons* of money just trying to fix this salon's mess up. I won't name the stylist, but I highly recommend you find somewhere else to get your hair done. There were multiple stylists at the salon who tried to brain storm how to help my hair and none of them had any clue what to do. They just kept telling me it would fade into my natural, which it never did. Negative stars. All the thumbs down. read more

Federal way Location: I have been going here for on and off 10 years. In the last two I have constantly seen the same stylist. They do a wonderful job, however it is ALWAYS sticker shock at the end. I went in for an extension consultation and was quoted $400. Went in to get it done, and with tip it was $700!!!! I asked and they said that was the cost of what I got done. I went in today for a blonde root touch up, no cut, no foil. According to their website that costs 50-70 dollars. Seems pretty fair. She colors and deep conditions my hair, it ends up being $195!!!! I am calling tomorrow first thing to complain. That's just insane. She said "I know you don't want a cut but we should just dust your ends/" Didn't know "dusting my ends" costs an extra $120!!!!! They just lost a 10 year client in one day. read more

Delorenzo! , We have been clients of Larry for over 15 years. He is a true expert in color and trends. He has always managed to keep my cut and color business professional but with a small, fun edge. My daughter has had great fun with Larry and his fun ideas throughout the years....always tasteful! I have moved on to extensions "Hot Heads' my color is perfect and my extensions are so very fun! I have been getting my hair done by Kristie Lopez-Hopkins for many years now. My hair is extremely thick and grows really fast. In the past I've had horrible experiences with other hair dressers missing chunks of hair and not cutting my hair right. This was my first time getting a mani-pedi at Confidence. No complaints here; the service was quick but efficient. They offer Essie and OPI polishes which was pleasing to see. My only discrepancy was that my manicure only lasted about five days but this is because I work with mannequins for 40 hours of my week. She does prefer advanced bookings however, often times she fits me in and stays late to accommodate my needs. When my hair was long she was the best at French braids. I was told she could turn it blonde, as I was already guaranteed and discussed in detail, IF I CAME BACK in FIVE WEEKS!!! AND THEN said it would cost me an ADDITIONAL $275!!! Outrageous!!!! She had a ridiculous story that I "needed to use conditioner for 5 weeks before she could finish". Again, the agreed service was to ONLY foil the grow out to match my existing light blonde. There is zero need to "condition" for 5 weeks first!! Utterly absurd!!! I left with ugly hair that I despise and felt robbed of my money on top of it. I complained the next day when it all sunk in even more when I woke up to my horrible hair. My boyfriend thought it was so ugly as well. Not okay. The salon accused me of lying and texted me a photo that was supposedly of my hair and it looks blonde in it. It was obviously photo-edited or the picture was taken, without my knowledge by the way, under a spot light because my hair is NOT blonde. It's orange-brown, all the way through. I could have gone to the grocery store and spent $10 on a box of ugly hair dye to get that awful hair. I texted ACTUAL pics of MY hair when I was accused of lying about the color of my hair and the salon finally agreed to refund my money. BUT, when I saw only $275 was refunded I called back and was told that my haircut cost $65, so they withheld that!! I did NOT ask for or receive a $65 haircut. Ridiculous!! I'm reporting the fraud. They will not respond to my repeated requests for the rest of my money back. NOW I need to find someone else, take time off work which costs me quite a bit, and pay a new person EXTRA to correct my hair. They are truly scammers without skill out to steal unearned money, all while ruining hair. I am embarrassed to go out with this hair and feel so ugly in it. It's just not okay. The extent of their scam was so shocking and violating! UPDATE!!!! You lied in your response! Not surprising. 1. You said you'd foil/bleach my healthy roots. Stating you were not able to bleach my hair is a lie. 2. I did NOT book a haircut online. I CALLED for my appointment. Another lie. 3.I did NOT leave with blonde hair. My new stylist called my hair COPPER colored. 4. Clearly my new stylist could fix your mess. My hair is silky smooth and soft, and it's BLONDE! 5. Your customer service is unacceptable. 6. Your staff needs to go back to beauty school. 7. You still owe me the rest of my money back. You had no right to keep $65 for a non-existent haircut. ESPECIALLY since you refunded the other $275, which was to address how my hair was ruined. The LEAST you could have done was return it all. Tacky and extremely disrespectful. A SCAM! Period. 8. I had no reason to write this review if it weren't true.

Not in this case! I like to wear a cute little mid-2000s Ginnifer Goodwin style pixi cut and she ROCKED it. She totally got what I was going for with a quick little consultation. I don't have a ton of hair and she was THOROUGH anyway. Sometimes when you have fine hair you get a few kind of cursory swipes and she was meticulous. On top of a fantastic cut, I got a very nice shampoo and great conversation. She is sweet and personable and made me feel incredibly comfortable and relaxed. I will be back. Thanks Rebecca!!! I'd talked to my previous stylist about my concerns but she told me it had to be cut that way because of how the hair falls. What I particularly liked about Wendy: I asked her what she thought before telling her my concerns and she immediately identified the issue that I was concerned about and brought up how she could lighten it up and redirect that weight. Additionally, she cuts it dry so she can get a feel for how your hair moves and wants to lay. I also had her foil my hair in the initial visit. She was able to capture the tone of my natural color so the foil sort of blends with my grey almost eliminating that line of demarcation you get as a foil grows out. This means I should be able to go longer between foils or do more partial foils as long as I don't go too light. I've been back once after 2.5 months just for a cut because I didn't need another foil. I was kind of hoping to save money over my previous place and this was about the same or a little more. But it was worth it as I really appreciate Wendy's approach and even more importantly, results! I've been back once for a cut and already booked my next foil.

It was genuinely beautiful to watch her artfully shape my curls--carefully snipping here, refining there--and throughout the appointment our conversation flowed naturally. We discovered several shared interests, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Nikki's apprentice (I wish I could remember her name!) did the shampoo and conditioning service, and it was incredible. The shampoo is always my favorite part of any salon visit, but this one was next level. The scalp massage was relaxing, the pressure was perfect, and I walked away feeling like stress I didn't even realize I was carrying had melted away. During styling, Nikki introduced me to a curl-defining brush and took the time to show me how to use it correctly. I already owned one but had been using it wrong. () She was fantastic both in her experience/talent as a stylist and also as someone to work with and has enough experience that you can't really throw her from her focus. I am looking forward to another visit and to enjoy not just a haircut but also some laughs because of her fantastic personality (charming, funny)! For the record, I've consistently heard solid recommendations for the salon. I've not heard a weak comment in my 20 years of living in this community.
