Came here with a friend who knew one of the comedians for a weeknight show. The comedians were pretty good, some better than others of course. I thought the MC was really good at introducing the comics and funny too. The sets were pretty short, about 10 minutes per comic so that was surprising. The reason I gave it lower stars is because of the drink situation. They require an $18 drink minimum. Most places it is just a 2 drink minimum and you can get whatever you want. I understand the need to make money, but if you are already paying to attend the show and then have to spend an extra 18 per person, that can get very expensive. Plus, if you don't want alcohol for whatever reason, you would have to get at least 3 non-alcoholic drinks to reach the minimum, which is a lot of liquid to get through! Don't miss the free check-in through yelp though - free shots!

    Outside with comedian Eman Morgan!

Had a great time on a Saturday evening at this comedy club! Comedians were great and would have gave 5 stars, however... 1) We were disappointed that there was no food available and when we arrived and inquired, the hostess said we can order Uber Eats. Unfortunately, there is no cell service, WiFi, or any coverage to be able to order. 2) In addition, they were sold out of a number of the drinks. It seemed that everything we tried to order the bar was out of.

My boyfriend's friend was performing here last weekend, so we came to support him with a group of friends. All of the comedians we saw were great and kept us laughing, but the venue was just average. The venue was small and I thought everything was overpriced from admission to food and drinks (not to mention the minimum on drinks, which was basically at least two drinks). Also, my friends and I were squeezed into the back, which was a little uncomfortable. They only accept cash.

No indication that this is a SUBWAY comedy show.

We made reservations online for a comedy show at Stand Up NY. I received a confirmation text saying to meet at a specific location at a specific time. There was no indication at any point on the website or texts that this was a subway comedy show. We were extremely disappointed as we had already paid over $40 for our tickets. A Stand Up NY employee did assure us we would receive a refund and that we were not the first to be misinformed about the show and that this happens a lot. Overall I would be happy to attend a comedy show, one that is properly advertised. Being that we are in a pandemic, the subway is the absolute last place we want to be. We would have wanted to know about the location of the show prior to purchasing tickets.

I went to Stand Up NY shortly after they reopened and was SHOCKED by their lack of COVID protocol, especially after going to the Comedy Cellar/Olive Tree a few days before. So just to compare....... Comedy Cellar (upstairs at their Olive Tree room) - Tables spread far apart - Glass separations between tables - Comedians behind glass (which didn't hamper performances at all. In fact, it added great material!) Stand Up NY - Tables couldn't have been closer. And because they're small tables with two chairs protruding out from each, I was no more than 18" - 2' from the person next to me. (And to add insult to injury, they have a sign on the table asking you to "try to stay 6' from anyone not in your party", which is impossible when they themselves sit people far closer to you on both sides!) - No glass separation anywhere. Not between tables and, more importantly, not between guests and comedians who are literally shouting at you from a couple of feet away when they moved to the edge of the stage (which many did) - Almost comical in itself (if it wasn't so dangerous) the comedians would wear masks UNTIL they got to the stage for their set. Then they would take them off for their routine. Are you kidding me! For all I know, Covid safety has sunk to a level where protocol like this is technically legal (and I'm sure Stand UP NY will try to insist it is), but that doesn't change the fact that if one of those six comedians are sick, it is a pretty good bet that half of the first row (as they pull down their masks to take a sip of their drink with a chaser of comic droplets) are as well. I've been going to comedy clubs in NY for the past 30 years and, when all is said and done, they're all pretty much the same. Small, cramped rooms (hardly ideal these days) with a mixed bag of good and bad comics. So all things being equal, I urge you to think twice about Stand UP NY until the pandemic is over. Because as far as I'm concerned, they are part of the problem.

Outrageous cost for a 3 oz wine.

I really really wanted to give this comedy club high grades. I just can't. But I will start with the good. The service is incredibly friendly. The comedians are good but not great. Tonight's show was some sort of competition. I know this is subjective but they were all just average. They are clearly amateurs. But I guess that's what this place is about. Now the really bad. It's a rip off what they charge you. 20 or $25 just to walk in. Then the $18 minimum drink charge. $14 for one 3 ounce glass of wine. That is just outrageous. And a service charge! Are you kidding me! I left a respectable tip but not nearly what I would have. Bottom line, go see a professional comedy act.

Here's why I won't be going to Stand Up NY again: 1) 2 Drinks minimum. 2 Drinks not 2 items, If you ordered food, it won't count and that Sucks! Maybe because they know their show is not that good, and few drinks is a must for a good time. I totally understand that it is the norm for most comedy clubs, but what I don't get why it has to be a beverage, and not food?! 2) $15-20 cover charge. and 2 drinks minimum, per guest. 3) Expensive experience and cheap show. 4) Ordered food, don't expect to get a knife. Don't ask! Reminder: it is not included in the minimum, probably because they know people won't enjoy the food as well. 5) Tables and illuminated menus were dirty, sticky, and very filthy. 6) Coffee? what is coffee? There is no coffee at standup NY. 7) Half empty on Friday night, REALLY?!! ( One table was the introducer's family ) 8) Not FUNNY. 9) Not FUNNY. 10) Not FUNNY. etc One and Half Yelps.

Nowhere on the Fever event app does it mention an $18 drink per person minimum, and we did not get 1 complimentary drink per person

Stand up NY is one of the premier clubs in NYC. They combine the beat up and coming comedians with house hold names.

Can't complain. They have four booths in the back maybe it was three. I did notice one of the hanging lights was from an 80s pizza hut joint. The energy is right there, hovering, but it never actually lands. It's giving "almost iconic" but not quite--like a party that never fully starts. And that's what gets me. Because this bar could EASILY be that spot. The kind people plan their week around. Where are the themed nights? Where's the drama? The chaos? Give me a reason to come back on a random Wednesday. Do a city-event tie-in, a holiday takeover, literally anything that makes it feel alive instead of just... existing. Because right now it feels like a missed opportunity wearing a cute outfit. BUT--let's talk about the one thing they absolutely did not fumble: the view. The VIEW??? Insane. Genuinely stunning. The kind of view that makes you pause mid-sentence and remember you're in New York and not just spiraling in your own life choices. It's carrying the entire experience on its back, respectfully. So yeah. I'd come back... but mostly for the view and the potential. If they ever decide to actually do something with this space? It could be dangerous (in a good way). Until then, it's vibes... just not fully realized ones.

I also got the foreign forage, "a bourbon smash with a mint zing." It was also a delicious take on a classic. They have several types of cocktails, all broken down by spirit and flavor profile. They also offer a lot of spirits made in New York State. They have cocktails with earthy notes, fruity notes, fancy martinis, and a section boasting limited edition and special spirits, if you're "feeling fancy" and wanna cough up 35 bucks instead of 20 or 25! They have a bar snacks menu (sliders, nuts, and the like). I had their thick cut fries and they were light, seasoned, and tasty. I couldn't stop eating them. Midtown or not, I highly recommend this spot, which also has a couple other locations, including Gramercy.
