The Grizzly Pear is such a gem in NYC. The ambiance is laid-back, cozy, and effortlessly cool. It really feels like an upscale dive bar in the best way possible. Warm lighting, good energy, and a chill crowd make it an easy place to hang whether you're starting your night or winding it down. One of the best parts is the menu. It's super affordable for NYC, but still delivers on quality. Everything feels simple, satisfying, and done right. We ordered the burger and fries, wings and fries, plus a margarita and a mojito. The burger was juicy and filling, the wings were flavorful, and the fries were hot and crispy. The drinks were solid, refreshing, and exactly what you want at a spot like this. Location-wise, it's perfect. The Grizzly Pear is close to so many things, making it a great stop before or after exploring the neighborhood, catching up with friends, or heading to another spot nearby. The service really stood out too. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing, which added to the relaxed vibe of the place. Overall, The Grizzly Pear is a great go-to if you want good food, decent drinks, a cool atmosphere, and fair prices all in one spot. Definitely a place I'd come back to again.

Came here for Lectures on Tap. The staff is so friendly here. The nachos were great. I had the Pear cider and it was delicious!!! The private room for the lecture was large but they still crammed in a lot of seats which made it a little uncomfortable. However the bar area is nice and I'd come back on my own.

Loved this spot! Will definitely go again. Bar tender was great- we just got beers and hung out with friends. There was slam poetry going on in the back but we stayed in the bar area!

I crossed an item off my bucket list by performing a stand-up comedy set at the Grisly Pear in NYC.

Terrific little spot to have a drink and enjoy some comedy! Perfect location! They even have open mic nights for any aspiring stand-up comedians.

This is a review of the comedy club in the back, and the back bar. First off, the drinks actually were made right. Okay, well, a Manhattan SHOULD have a cherry (these didn't). They still tasted good, and had enough alcohol that I could taste them. The comedy acts were quite funny. There was a good variety, and the sets lasted around 10 to 15 minutes each. The ambience is bar / nightclub. The service is actually quite good. Some things to know: 2 Item (food or drink) minimum per person. Sitting in the back doesn't buy you anonymity in any way, shape or form from the comedians. You are fair game wherever you sit. As usual, some of the comics were better than others, and we got a good laugh. We found a vendor in Times Square who sold us the tickets at a slight discount. Look around.

We ate it all and licked every plate

Me and my Girlfriend came to this bar for the first time. And we started with the loaded fries and mozzarella sticks. And let me tell you the dishes are absolutely amazing. Like they deserve a Michelin star for the quality of food. The fries cooked to perfection with the steak. Oooh the steak was to die for. Like they put there whole heart into it! I want to recommend this place to everyone. And then I ordered two margaritas that were out of this world. Perfectly flavored and the rim was salted to perfection. And then to keep the party going I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and let me tell you it tasted like they freshly killed the pig in the back and the pork was smoked for like 34555 days to perfection. And let me tell you the f****in bbq sauce is to die for. I love it here and will continue to come every time I come to visit. Highly recommend

I've been watching progress on The Grisly Pear for awhile now. Then on Sunday, we were walking to Black Iron Burger across the street and saw GP was opened so we made a detour to check out the newest place in the neighborhood. It was late on a Sunday afternoon and it was a little quiet but we were greeted by a friendly team. Our server told us the specials they had on drinks and we started with some beer and cocktails. For food, my friends and I shared Fiesta Fries, which were really good. For my main meal, I had buffalo chicken wings and I liked the level of spice and their overall crispyness. We ended with some choco mint donuts, which were pretty good. The place is fresh and updated. You can tell that they are not open long as we had some questions about the menu and our server had to get answers, but that's okay and to be expected. For a place that hasn't been open long, they seem to have it together. I want to reiterate that everyone who works there is super friendly and makes you feel welcome. I've never been to the Grisly Pear location in the Village so can't compare this new outpost to the original. This location does note that it is a comedy club as well and I could see the space in the back reserved for that so it's nice to know that's around. I think this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and it's always nice to have a solid pub nearby.

Food was delicious and so were the infamous oreo donuts! Bartenders and waitresses were also super welcoming and the entertainment from the comedians made the night memorable

Surrounding TVs keep every play, fight and miracle replayed in glorious surround-sass while wooden tables beg for pitchers, pretzels and conspiracy theories about the ref. Whether you're upstairs for the 3rd floor vibe, mid-level for the perfect sightline, or down in the cozy den with the best acoustics, this is New York sports bar energy: loud, a little brazen, impossibly welcoming. One particular bartender, Delaney not only brings an awesome level of energy to the bar, she saunters in like a halftime show -- a grin that's equal parts mischief and welcome. She's all quick elbows and quicker comebacks, the kind of bartender who remembers your name, your drink, and that one ridiculous story you told months ago. Her laugh is loud, her wink is devious, and she has a way of making first-timers feel like regulars by the second round. Behind the wooden bar she's choreography: expert pours, theatrical muddles, and a flourish that makes every order feel curated. Delaney's drinks are personality-packed, with her behind the bar, the place doesn't just serve drinks -- it gets its personality back. It's a place off 8th ave where fitness meets fun, and every corner feels like home--complete with friendly staff who know your name (or at least your size) and are always ready to offer a witty comeback or a perfect recommendation. Taking off a star because I had a weird experience with the people at the front. I'm currently recovering from an injury and I'm in a pretty obvious neck brace. I was visiting with two people who were on their way and would be arriving in about 10-15 minutes and the people at the front told me I couldn't be seated until they arrived. I understand that this is normal protocol, but I pointed out my neck brace and asked if an exception could be made because it's significantly more comfortable for me to sit down (and there was no room at the bar). They said that their manager wouldn't let them do that, and that they couldn't seat me until the rest of my party was there. There were tons of table tables available the entire time and when my friend arrived about 12 minutes later, they seated us, I totally could've sat the whole time and it wouldn't have been a problem. Not the end of the world and I probably could've pushed it harder, but it definitely was a little awkward!

We reserved for a quick bite at Redeye Grill before catching Dog Day Afternoon on Broadway, but as soon as we walked up, some bouncer told us they were closed for a private wedding reception. We were dazed and confused because how was I able to reserve online? But the real plot twist was that it ended up being the best thing that happened. We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. That drink was legit and had nice strength. The food was great too. My fish tacos were packed with fresh fish, the guacamole and salsa were chunky and full of flavor and hubs enjoyed his pastrami sandwich. I have no clue when we'll be back in Midtown, but one thing's for sure- we're sitting with Josiah again.

The shepherd's pie is insanely salty and it's very off-putting. It was inedible. I was looking forward to having it but I would not in good faith recommend this to anyone. The buttermilk tenders is supposed to come with pickled shallots and marinated green beans. We didn't get the pickled shallots or the marinated green beans, which was a shame. The chicken tenders by themselves didn't have much flavor. It also is unfortunate paying $17 for what was considered a small plate and just getting the chicken tenders. The Asian-sesame wings were okay. Also, didn't have much flavor and weren't that impressive. There was also still hair on some of the pieces of chicken, so the chicken could have been cleaned better. They have fries and hand cut fries. The regular fries were soggy. Should have went with the hand cut fries. The tater tots were okay. I was told that the chicken sandwich was good. It came with a little side of rustic chips. I would not come back for the food but I would possibly go back to try a drink if I was in the area. The drink menu looked pretty good.

They had outdoor seating along 9th ave and 51st street. We sat inside at a hightop , along their big open windows of 9th; great in between of inside and outside. Plenty of options for a big or small group, or solo! Our server was McKenna, who was incredibly attentive, we never felt like we were waiting or had to wave anyone down. The food came quickly, and was great. Nothing that changed our lives, but hot, quick, and delicious. I can see this becoming a regular spot for when we can't decide on where to go and just want somewhere dependable and consistent. Inside is like a typical Irish pub: long bar, wood everywhere, comfy high tops and booth seating along the wall. Keep in mind that it is a sports bar with TVs everywhere, so they will be playing the major sport of the season. The volume isn't too loud though, enough to hear, but don't need to cover your ears. The bottomless option on the weekend is great, 2-3 drinks and you get your money's worth. The bloody's are good quality, with a good bite of Tabasco and horseradish (I prefer that!) and the mimosas are bubbly forward (they're not skimping you with mostly OJ). The food prices for brunch aren't crazy either. Selection is a bit limited, but seeing as this is a pub/tavern, I think they have a pretty good mix. Overall, would absolutely recommend. If you have a big group, have some common sense and book a reservation, but likely able to do walk-ins for small groups, couples, or singles easily. This is a great option for laid back vibes in HK.
