I have mixed feelings. The first time I came here was within the first two weeks of it being open. The wait for food was a little long, but the deviled eggs were amazing. The Ruben was amazing. The drink was amazing. This time however the wait for a table was 20 minutes past when they said. The eggs were still good. Had 20 minute stints to see a server. The Reuben was DRY. And the gin martini was just straight vermouth. Or simple syrup. Couldn't drink it. I want this place to be great, but currently it is not. The service was below standard. read more

We were really excited about this new addition to the Gainesville restaurant scene. We've been to Lyla Lyla in Midtown ATL several times and absolutely loved it (owner/partner is the same) and so our expectations may have been too high. Our first visit, we ordered the Standard burger and grilled peach salad. The burgers were fine, as was the salad, but the grilled peaches in the salad were rock hard. The cocktails were definitely Midtown quality and worth the Midtown prices. Our second visit was soooo disappointing. The cocktails were still good, but why aren't they using local vendors for more of their menu items? (Jaemor Farms peaches or Danny's Doughnuts). They were out of chili, the Sublime burger was just okay, and the Reuben was inedible. The bread wasn't toasted and the beef was so tough that it was untouched on my husband's plate. Despite the fact that there were huge chunks of grey meat on the platter, no one asked if he enjoyed his meal (he didn't). I'm so disappointed and am not planning to return until I hear that the kitchen has some quality control regarding what they are comfortable serving to guests. We may be back for a cocktail, but not for a meal. read more

We found the food and service so good the first time we were back about a week later. The beer cheese for the pretzel and on the Standard Burger is very tasty and makes the burger unique. My daughter had the chicken tenders both times and you can tell just by looking that they are different than the usual pre breaded ones other places serve! read more

Well I'm finally (for the most part) impressed with a restaurant in Gainesville! I'll admit I am a food snob from Florida where I had dozens of fabulous restaurants to choose from mere miles from my home. I was super excited when we moved to Gainesville only to be sorely disappointed by the local food fare. This place definitely has my attention! I love the vibe here! Just 2 minimal complaints 1) as someone else mentioned - the cocktails were in rather small glasses but very good & I'm just a tad disappointed that their cocktail menu isn't a little larger since they had a decent selection of quality liquor. Add an old fashioned to your menu please...every great place needs an old fashion! 2) the appetizer with the peaches, goat cheese, arugula & hot honey was delicious but yes the peaches weren't very flavorful and a bit hard and there was hardly any arugula on the plate so just a tad more arugula for the price please! Today was my first time visiting but it won't be my last! This is the cutest place with indoor and outdoor seating. Our bartender was Hunter. He makes the best drinks and he is super funny! My mom and I were touring Brenau University and decided to stop in just to see what it was like. So cute on the outside but to be honest not what I was expecting on the inside. Not in a bad way just not as hip and trendy as the outside looks. Great place for a college kid to go with parents which is what it seemed to be happening around us. We ended up only grabbing appetizers and drinks before heading out. Got the loaded fries with chicken and the shrimp which were very good. Sprite and glass of wine. $50 overall so on the pricey side. Not bad but probably wouldn't head back soon. Also downstairs was pretty awesome but closed for an event so we only got to peek in. read more

I ordered grilled chicken pecan salad at $22. Dressing g had absolutely no taste, chicken was tough as leather, and I found one tiny piece of pecan in entire salad. I've had a much better salad at Chick Fil A. Way overpriced and server Alex never asked how food was - he must know it's awful and never asked if we wanted more drinks. We ordered an appetizer 15 minutes after we sat down and then got it about 20 minutes later. We weren't able to even order our entrees until we had finished our appetizer. Our waitress (who was nice, but incredibly inattentive) walked by at least 15 times and did not offer to fill our drinks or ask if we needed anything. Waited nearly an hour to get our entrees and did not receive our pickles we had asked for. Had ask 3 times to get them and finally got them as we were paying. Great addition to the Gainesville downtown scene. Beer pours in the basement are fun and tasty. The shishito peppers were amazing. Try the deviled eggs, they did not disappoint! Fish n chips were perfectly prepared. Skip the donut burger. Saw several people around us eating it and they were not happy with the choice. Went here on Valentine's day, super relaxed, quiet. They had they're wings half off (typically they were $14 for for 10, too expensive for me to buy them, just frugal‍) and they were amazing. Waiter was cool, just the right amount of attentiveness. If those wings prices became a weekly special, you'd see us in there once a week buying two orders of wings and slamming a Morning Rooster or two. I found it to be over-priced. The drinks are small and they were out of Michelob and Bud light on a Friday afternoon. I order a Rueben sandwich and the bread was over-toasted and was not buttered. Outstanding. While they are still trying to perfect everything, what they offered us on our first trip in was really, really good. The menu is inventive and we both found it difficult to choose "just" one thing in every category. The service was excellent and as they continue to experiment, the server suggested the better options versus the food or drink choices which received less fanfare. I ordered one of the burger choices which was outstanding and my girlfriend ordered the fish and chips. She said it was the best she's ever had. They also give you so many wonderfully crispy fries, it shouldn't be a goal to finish them. The vibe is very cool and the downstairs area is special. Self serve beer, wine and cider in an indoor/ outdoor area felt like a really cool space to hang out maybe for happy hour or a sunny afternoon.
