I love standing wave!!! I have been a frequent flyer at their coffee truck in Oakland since they started and I was thrilled to hear about their permanent location in Southside. Honestly my favorite cup of coffee in Pittsburgh! Not to mention they are sooo nice and friendly. Great service Today we got the Sarah sandwich and two oat milk lattes with smores. The sammie was great especially for the price. The breadworks bread was incredible. They do all their own roasting and their beans are excellent. So excited for them and it's such a nice space.

Such a cute little shop with a very coastal feel. Comfy chairs and tables. The coffee is so smooth and they have some very unique, Pittsburgh-themed drinks. Definitely will go back.

This is a great addition to the South Side! I am always looking for locally owned/operated coffee shops. The coffee and breakfast sandwiches are delicious and the space is great. They have both soft seating and table/chair options.

This shop used to be a coffee truck that now has its own building in the South Side! The coffee truck still operates as well around the city. Great space to work remotely or pop in and grab coffee before work! Lots of seating options. They have a lot of unique drink options on the menu.

Great coffee, reasonably priced, and I love the ambiance. One of my new favorites in Southside!

Every…read moreSunday we try to hit up a new local coffee shop and on this Sunday we decided to go to the Redhawk Coffee location on Fifth Avenue. We had been to other Redhawk Coffees but not to this specific location. The inside of this shop was actually fairly large with an area with food on the one side including their baked goods under cloches and then a bunch of seating on the other side. In addition to the baked goods they have other things and it's worth mentioning they had a fun array of salty snacks like Chinese Lays (Hot Pot flavors) and also some salmon chips. For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a honey cinnamon latte while my wife went with an iced vanilla latte. We also added a croissant to the order which our whole family each had a little bit of. My coffee here ended up being quite good as I enjoyed the deep and rich flavor of it. That paired nicely with the milk and you could also easily taste the cinnamon and the honey which was nice. What wasn't as nice was the 7.35 price tag for the 16 oz latte which is definitely on the higher side for the Pittsburgh market. Our croissant here was also good as it was crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. It also had a great buttery flavor which our whole family enjoyed. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Yes it was a bit on the pricier side but we all enjoyed what we had.

We went for cold brew and of course couldn't not order food once we were surrounded by the delicious smells! The empanadas are superb. The crust is so crunchy and delicious. I've had a lot of empanadas in my day and their filling is really unique and I could probably eat a tray of them *chefs kiss* but the dipping sauce it comes with is literally out of this world. I need a jar of it. The Pan De Queso was also really really good. It came with dulce de leche dipping sauce and again very uniquely different than most dulce de leches that I've tried. This place seriously has its own flavors on regular classics and I am so happy that I am within a 8 minute drive of this place. Staff was super friendly and you can't beat being in the heart of the strip for some good people watching while you munch! I can't wait to try the guava and cheese croissant and the dulce de leche hot chocolate on my next visit!

The plantains are sweet, which I don't think I personally like as much in the arepa on their own. The smoothie was good and felt healthy, not too sweet, which was good and was a decent size. The mokoa had great reviews from someone I was with, they said it was the top 3 they've ever had, so I will be back to try coffee drinks. Prices were on the average side of expensive for drinks (around $7) and the food was around good price ($7-8 per arepa). It is at a convenient location for me and they make the parking lot cute with a few tables (since they are a food truck).
