Cheers with Orange and Ginger Latte and the Espresso con Panna
    Lisa G.

We recently ventured out to this hidden gem - and it was a delightfully unexpected experience. From the moment we walked through the door, we knew this place was something special. The decor was a quirky blend of vintage and modern, with funky furniture and window decor to the artwork for sale adoring the walls. It felt like stepping into an eccentric artist's living room. I like to try new flavor combos I've never seen before and selected the Orange Ginger Latte. Each sip was an enchanting journey of flavors, taking my taste buds on an unexpected adventure. As we sat at a cozy table with our unique coffee creations ( he had the Espresso con Panna) I couldn't help but smile at the whimsical atmosphere. magical ambiance. It was more than just a coffee shop; it was an unexpected adventure into a world of creativity and community. If you're looking for a coffee experience that goes beyond the ordinary, I highly recommend giving this delightful place a visit. It's a testament to the fact that sometimes the best things in life are the most unexpected ones.

ECHT is a wonderful European style coffeehouse and welding art space. Everything is premium original quality. Excellent coffee.

Cute place and very nice inside! You can tell they put a lot of effort and care into everything about this space- from the tables to the menu to their fun and unique coffee options. And the people were all friendly. Can't wait to go back. Good indoor seating options, they serve you at your table and we were able to sit and work for a while. Good quiet space to work but am also excited to take out of town friends here to sit and chat. Street parking but plenty of it.

Poached is one of my favorite ways to have my eggs. ECHT Coffeehouse Lounge and Bistro has an Egg in a Glass that is simply a creative and artistic way to present my breakfast favorite. The glass has two perfectly poached eggs lightly covered with herbs and cracked pepper and warm butter. Then you can enjoy a cup of coffee with your meal. Did I mention that they have grits on the menu? Guess what? They do and I definitely recommend for breakfast or brunch or a nice business or casual meetup location. The decor and space is beautiful and relaxing. The service is great.

What a delightful cafe in Mt. Oliver! Their menu is enticing and has plenty of both vegetarian and gluten-free options. My partner had the braised greens with grits and sausage, which she said was a little salty but would have gone well with eggs too. I had the eggs over sweet potatoes, which were also a little saltier than I would have made them yet delicious. I tried the house-made orange soda, a pricey novelty at $5.50 but made fresh for each guest. The space is interesting and the staff lovely, and we would have hung out with coffee and work, but they don't offer wifi, and one of us needed it. The street parking apparently requires quarters.

A must experience coffee shop! After reading an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about the soon to open Echt Coffee House I knew that my wife and I had to be there for their soft opening before they open to the public on Monday, February 28, 2022. The building that houses Echt is actually the former Mt. Oliver fire house in the 1920's which had fallen into severe disrepair before Jorg Gerlach purchased the 15,000 building to house a metal, wood and glass workshop in 2016 which he named Echt Contracting. As we walked inside the first thing I noticed was the absolutely beautiful stained glass windows! The space was incredible! From the custom handmade metal chandeliers to the handmade metal shelves. This is not your normal run of the mill coffee shop! We than explored the basement of the space to check out the soon to open distillery named Echt Liquor Lab. Once seated Jorg greeted us and handed us a menu. After much deliberation I chose a Macchiato and a Cinnamon Roll and my wife chose the Weekly Special Con Panna. It features espresso and house made whipped cream and is served with Artisanal Cacao Powder, Confectioner's Sugar and dried spice sprinkles. Both drinks are also served with a cup of Mineral Water, a small piece of chocolate and a small, powdered cookie. Let me just that I have never had coffee so flavorful like this before! It was truly an experience! Soon after we finished our coffee a woman sitting next to us ordered some food that smelled like heaven so we knew we had to order some as well. My wife ordered the Chicken and Dumpling Soup and I went with the Grits & Greens and topped it with chopped fried bacon. My dish was amazing and full of flavor! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her soup and commented that it was so good that she would buy it buy the quart! After we finished with our meal we just hung out for a while to just enjoy the space and take in the atmosphere. The word Echt, pronounced esht is the German adjective that means authentic (crafting), substantial (materials), true (surfaces), genuine (approach): sincere and honest which is very fitting because that is exactly the experience that Jorg and his partner James are providing to the community of Mt. Oliver! A truly authentic and genuine coffee house experience!

At Echt Coffeehouse -- Absolutely incredible place! So many things going on. Mind blowing food but you can tell why. The answer you can see in all the metal fabrication, glassworks, ceramic and everything it took to transform an old firehouse. A must visit when in Pittsburgh.

I decided to try on ECHT while I was waiting for my pup to get finished with her appointment at the groomers. I wanted a place where I could study a bit and get something delicious to eat, and ECHT did not disappoint. Both of the servers that I interacted with were fantastic and made sure that I didn't need anything. The ambiance was really nice, they had some slower throwbacks playing. And the food was AMAZING. Every bite I took of the breakfast sandwich was so flavorful and every sip of my mocha latte was the same. I'll definitely be back!

A friend and I stopped here today for Sunday brunch after several recommendations. We were so impressed! The food/coffee was delicious and service was quick/great. Will definitely be back!

Bangin and delicious. Echt coffee house has everything you can want and imagine in a breakfast meal. You have tons of vegetarian friendly options and if you are a meat eater, the hash and breakfast sausage sandwich is orgasmic.

When we pulled up to the hotel, we parked in an area that the front desk later confirmed was not valet parking and that we were fully permitted to use. Despite this, a man wearing a plain black shirt with no name tag, hotel logo, or other identification immediately approached us and aggressively demanded, "You need to give me your keys now." He never introduced himself, never identified himself as a hotel employee or valet attendant, and never welcomed us to the hotel. Instead, he immediately became confrontational. When I explained that I was not comfortable handing my vehicle keys to an unidentified stranger, he escalated the situation by repeatedly yelling, "Bro, bro, you're not going to disrespect me." We attempted to walk away and continue with check-in, but the harassment did not stop. After checking in, we returned outside to unload our luggage, and he immediately confronted us again. This time, he threatened that if I did not hand over my keys, "there would be consequences." No guest should ever be threatened simply for asking reasonable questions or wanting to verify the identity of someone requesting possession of their vehicle. The front desk staff later confirmed that we had parked in the correct location and acknowledged that this employee's behavior was inappropriate. While I appreciated their honesty, that did not change what had already occurred or the fact that the individual continued to work the front entrance. Unfortunately, the situation only worsened throughout the remainder of our stay. Every time we entered or exited the hotel, this valet employee continued making comments about my group to his coworkers. He would smirk, laugh, and make remarks within earshot of us, often in front of the front desk staff. Rather than feeling welcomed as paying guests, we felt uncomfortable and uneasy every time we walked through the lobby. The hostility that began upon our arrival never truly ended. As an IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite member who spends more than 200 nights each year almost exclusively at IHG properties, I have always chosen IHG because of the professionalism, hospitality, and consistency I have experienced across its brands. Unfortunately, this stay was unlike anything I have ever encountered. In all my years of traveling, I have never felt so disrespected, singled out, isolated, or unwelcome at a hotel. IHG promotes its hotels as places where every guest should feel safe, respected, and valued. That was not my experience at this property. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, I felt that our concerns were dismissed, and the behavior of this employee created an environment where we no longer felt comfortable. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. It has caused me to seriously reconsider my loyalty to IHG after spending hundreds of nights each year with the brand. I hope hotel management and IHG Corporate conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, address the conduct of the employee involved, and ensure that no future guest has to experience the same treatment we did.
