September 15,2016 Time: 3:20pm My younger sister and I have been coming to pick stuff up from here for years. She's a certified baker. And every single time we have been treated like complete (excuse my language) SH*T! I am so sick of those two blonde middle aged ladies making little offending remarks. I don't know if it's a racial thing or because we're half their age, that they feel entitled to treat the customers of 5 years like their business does not matter. They were so rude I felt the need to write this review. The lady at the register already had an attitude. She started off ringing us up by saying "oh you FINALLY found what you were looking for!!" (mind you we were in the store for less than 7min.) they treated us as if we were gonna rob their store. Unfortunately, we brought the wrong credit card, so I asked the lady if she could possible put stuff on hold. She said nothing and wouldn't even make eye contact with me. So I asked again "would you please put this stuff on hold, we will come back before you close today." Her response: "mhm, ya!" (As she began to help the next customer) So sad. Very upsetting. We did nothing nor did we say anything to make you guys treat us like that. You both a very rude people. read more

NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN. They rip off their customers and wash their hands of any faults by adding in disclaimers that are not even visible. Their new system adds in a surcharge of at least 3% on every item, despite how much you spend. Cashier doesn't even notify you in case you want to pay a different way. To top it off they sold me an air brush machine that ended up costing me $135 ($5 more than asvertised), same one is on Amazon for $80 with horrible reviews. All their items are final sale so forget a refund or exchange. I love supporting small businesses but if you want to stay in business you should also offer competitive prices and be honest with your customers. They offered no remedy so goes to show how much they care about customer service. So glad we have a competitive market because I am taking my business else where. It's a shame you would rather loose long-time loyal customers then swallow your pride and offer a solution. read more

They have a good selection. However, they are very expensive. I am a cake decorator on the side. If I plan right, I can get most of what I need online for much cheaper. I know how to make cake drums myself, but they can be time consuming with my set-up at home. I occasionally buy them. Today I bought a fullsheet and here is what I'm disappointed with: -it wasn't an actual full sheet -there wasn't a cake box that actually fit it so it will shift in transit -their drums are ALWAYS dinged. If I'm going to pay $22 for a drum that should only cost $10, it should not be dented. If you need something in a pinch or want to see it in person, it's a good place. read more

I have been shopping here for years and normally have nothing but a great experience. The people who work there are usually always very helpful. However today my experience was the complete opposite. Being a customer service supervisor myself I understand the importance of sometimes having to be flexible and accommodate your clientele outside of your usual circumstances. I found Standlee's randomly while walking down the string of shops in the area. I was so excited to find a shop like this with so many cake decorating supplies. Today was my second visit here and I am even more impressed by their customer service. The two ladies there were very friendly and extremely helpful. They even suggested ideas of how to go about decorating the cupcakes that I am making this weekend. I will be returning anytime I need baking supplies. Also, they carry americolor! So happy that I don't have to buy it online anymore. read more

I'm taking a cake decorating class there now, and though it's a small space, you will definitely get individualized attention. Also, the shop will give you a discount when you sign up for the class, so getting the supplies you need is both inexpensive and convenient. For all the bakers out there, this is the place to go to satisfy your baking needs. From cake boxes to a plethora of chocolate molds, you can probably find what you need here. The staff was friendly and informative. They go around the store making sure that you've been helped or have questions about anything. However, the only two concerns keeping me from giving them two more stars is 1) pricing and 2) selection. Yes, there may be a wide selection; however, when comparing price and selection their contender -- Do It With Icing has lower prices and more goodies to choose from. But overall, Standlee's is more convenient for the South Bay residents. read more

You know the saying, "It was like walking into a candy shop"? Well what is it like when the person who makes the candy walk into this shop? It's like Heaven I tell you! Great selection, maybe not as vast as Do It With Icing, but all the standard equipment/supplies to get you through and more. Very helpful staff, always asking if you need any help which I really appreciate. I've been here for cake boxes and boards and bought a tube pan (Wilton) out of desperation, checked online to make sure the price was competitive and it was. I felt like I was in Willy Wonka's store when I walked in here. Its clean, and well lit so it makes finding things easier. I felt like they had a good assortment of products at good prices. They had tons of cookie cutter and chocolate molds so I'm sure you can find what you're looking for. Also great is their custom cookie cutter ordering! You can order a special cookie cutter through their shop!! They had a wide selection of holiday bake wear. The display was so nice I left with a few new cookie cutters I hadn't even been looking for! This place is pretty small but it has "most necessities". I must admit I did run back and forth between Michael's and here, and being crafty sure comes costly sometimes. I come here mostly for there variety in Candy molds. You know the kind you melt chocolate and pour into , ok... ok... I am not giving my secrets away I think I already said too much. I honestly also come for caramel for my apples and chocolate to melt. Ever since I was little Iv been coming to standees to pick out anything I wanted for my birthday cakes and now that I'm grown up and I'm the one making the cake Iv chosen to pick standees as my #1 cake supplies shop. Every time I go in the first word is "how many cakes " followed by hello. Every time I go, there's always something new to look at or to buy if I need help their always there to answer any questions and show me the better ways. When I walk out of the store I learn something new. I was the one to by my chocolate etc... at Walmart but now I get mine at standees because their chocolate etc... is way better in Quality.
