I recieved a text that my tech was on his way. The tech, Mike, introduced himself by name and was patient with me as I had to put my kids on the bus. He then walked me through the process before starting any work. Mike wore shoe covers, properly protected the corners of the home so the hose could run smoothly, and was very communicative the whole way through. He was obviously very knowledgeable and left my house smelling fresh and looking clean. The next time we have our carpets done, Ill be requesting Mike (from Bowie location). read more

Where do I even begin? I scheduled service for a day that I took off from work to be here for the six-hour - yes, six hours! - window this company requires for service. I spent another half-hour preparing the room where the work would occur. I was very explicit in my instructions when I booked the service that I could not guarantee street parking for the technician's van, but I could provide garage parking. When he arrived, he said he could not park in the garage and there was not immediate street parking in front of our Home, so he left. Five minutes later the space opened up in front of our home and I immediately called dispatch and asked that he returned and do the work. They said it was too late; he had already moved on, five minutes after he left my home for what would've been a multi-hour appointment. On top of that issue, the company sent me a confirmation email with the photograph of a technician who was entirely different than the technician who showed up at my home. I understand that schedules changed, but given that that is a security and safety precaution, the company should've followed up with an update that a new technician would be arriving. After all of this, the company kept insisting that they could come back tomorrow after I told the dispatcher repeatedly that I was unavailable for the rest of the week because I would not be home to allow the technician in. His solution was to continue to offer tomorrow as the service day, along with a $25 discount on what would have been an $800 cleaning job. Didn't do the job the day promised. Called and got the local supervisor and he got an attitude but finally said he would have a crew the next morning around 10. I texted him at 10:25 he never responded. I started to leave at 11 and they finally showed up. Then the supervisor started on me about my attitude and told me he would gladly leave. Two men came to clean the carpet in my living room and in my bedroom. They did a good job in the living room but not in the bedroom. They said it would take about 20 hours for the carpet to dry. After that time I went in my bedroom and found two white large spots on my carpet. I have the type of bed that you can raise the mat up and down electrically . I have an outlet in the floor near the bed and the cord to raise the bed was plugged into the floor outlet. I went to raise the bed two days after they cleaned the carpet and it doesn't work. The outlet has no power. It worked before they cleaned the carpet but now it does not work. I don't know what the young man did but the outlet does not work anymore. I don't think I will use their services anymore. read more

After switching on our heat last year (with the cooler weather), our household started experiencing frequent allergies and sinus headaches. It was worse than previous years-- and I could see the dust coating the inside of our ducts though some of our HVAC vents. I remembered our HVAC guy mentioning that Stanley Steemer performs a good duct cleaning service. I must admit, I was a little disappointed after reading their yelp reviews, but I found they were the only company that serviced our area. This review is for their HVAC duct cleaning service, I've never used them for carpet cleaning. After speaking with a representative, they explained it's basically priced a flat fee per thermostat (for the layman, one thermostat indicates a single system HVAC). We were able to get an appointment in two days, which I thought was pretty cool, since I figured it's likely a busy time of year for them. Our place is pretty difficult to find, and the technicians weren't shy to call and clarify the directions, which I was happy to do, and they found our place quickly after I explained it on the phone. The techs were two very friendly gentlemen who immediately introduced themselves. Not only did Sterling and Shawn perform their job in a fast, friendly manner, they seemed experienced, very competent and were extremely professional throughout the whole process. They explained how the process worked and went over the entire procedure beforehand. There is some large-ish equipment they use and they did fine navigating up and down our rickety stairs. true professionals. they even offered to clean our dryer vent (I believe it's a service they offer using the same equipment). One detail of the process they went over involved cutting two holes in our HVAC ducts and explained these would be used for future cleanings. I wasn't sure how I felt about this, but the holes were small and logically placed, and they did very good work sealing them back up using sturdy, professional materials. I had moved some furniture before hand and made sure all my ducts were accessible, so it went pretty quickly. Didn't time it, but I'd say the whole process took maybe two or three hours (30min for set-up, and hour for cleaning and 30min to break down their equipment). Afterwards, I could see (and feel) the difference, (and in addition they can also take 'before and after' photos of the inside of your ducts, if you like. The difference has been huge and is well worth it! I'd 100% call them again. Also, I believe it's nice to tip service people like this when they do a great job, so I did. read more

Paid Stanley Steemer to clean a basement carpet. The lady who came did a good job of removing stains and dirt off the carpet. But left the basement sopping wet. I was told the carpet would dry in 6 hours. it's been 12 hours. the carpet is still wet. I've been using every fan and dehumidifier I have. I've used towels and paper towels, on my hands and knees. it's still wet. don't know what to do now. horrible situation. read more

I have been a Stanley Steemer customer for more than 20 years (Bowie, MD). On the last visit, the cleaners didn't put the styrofoam feet under the legs of the couch and recliners and didn't put the pads underneath the table legs. I didn't realize it until after they left. I called the office to let them know and was told the General Manager would call me back to address the issue. I never got a call. I called two more times and was told the same thing with no call coming from the GM. After waiting nine days from him to call me, I called the office on 8/2 to let them know they have lost a customer of more than 20 years because it shows they do not care about their customers and refuse to acknowledge a complaint. I'm glad there was no damage to the carpet. Bottom line is the Bowie, MD franchise has employees who aren't doing what they're supposed to and management doesn't care. read more

It took 3 hours in the heat to wait for a repair Lady to come in to fix the wires they loosened cleaning the unit. Of course the tech had the nerve to tell me not once but twice that he was not going to spend more time in my home to get their mistake rectified. Then had the nerve to request payment. I called to confirm this morning (well before my time) so when I received a call stating that the team was "on the way," I was not expecting almost an hour later. My time is valuable and I could have been making other moves before their arrival. Hopefully, this will be my final time requesting this service. Update: I wanted to add that Durrell and Jason did an amazing job on my carpet and were true professionals! My recent experience with Stanley Steemer (SS) in Gaithersburg, MD was utterly disappointing. SS overcharges and also does not do what clients pay them to do. Previously SS sent a team of two cleaners. But this time there was only one cleaner. I had to spend 30 minutes holding down the area rugs for him to clean. The cleaner could not find the work order on his cell phone. This maybe the reason why he did not apply the protection that I had paid for. I have asked for a refund repeatedly from SS, but I have not yet received the check with the reimbursement. I had to remind the cleaner to raise the furniture items on yellow pads. I discovered later (since it was dark) that he had done this only on one floor. The job done by one cleaner naturally took longer and continued into the evening. SS schedules five hour intervals now. I had made a special request that the carpet cleaners come earlier in the afternoon before dark. But the SS technician turned up around 4:30 pm and was cleaning until it was very dark and this made it difficult to do a good job. read more

WOW!!! Talk about bait and switch! He said "one room is larger than the on-line quote". B.S. at no point did the on-line quote tool say/ask anything about room size. Would leave -1 star if possible!!! First time booking this company. My husband is currently in the hospital and soon to be released. I'm a first time customer and called she to get the carpet cleaned before my husband's arrival home. I called in advance to ensure an arrival after 4pm yet they still showed at 1pm. I spoke to the staff through my Ring doorbell and they acted like they couldn't respond and the mic wasn't working. I told them I could hear the cars and buses passing and birds chirping but they only gave me hand signals. Never received a voicemail or email notifying me that my appointment was cancelled. Spent collectively 20+ minutes on hold between the two calls to customer service bc my first representative conveniently hung up. Stanley Steemer's plays a nice little song and rhyme about relieving the stress while you're your hold! The irony. I missed a day with my husband in the hospital because of their lack of communication and will now have to miss another visit. We've used this Stanley Steemer outlet before and had a better experience, but this time they left the job high & dry with no notice that they wouldn't be returning. They came out to clean and stain grout but didn't bring the right tools. Told me their manager would bring the tools out within 30 min. However, in no time, they jumped in their van and left with no notice. No call, no information. When I called the office, I got a story about how I didn't have a working spigot and they couldn't do the work--100% wrong especially since they've been out before to clean grout and I have other water sources. I purchased a rug cleaning service from Stanley Steemer and the first team ensured me that the pet odors would be able to come out of the rug! That cleaning made the rug worse. I then called and requested a second team to come clean. They said what they would do should work ! Now I am left with a rug that smells horrendously worse than it did before we even called Stanley Steemer. I spoke to the general manager and he said he could only refund me for the deodorizer fee which was $25. The full cleaning was $150. This has been a terrible experience . I don't advise anyone to use this particular Stanley Steamer as they tell you things to ensure you pay but can't actually do the job! BAD BUSINESS! read more

I had Stanley Steemer come out on Saturday to clean a large area (that was deemed 2 rooms - which is understandable). The carpets seemed to dry in the amount of time that they said it would, however over the next few days I noticed a distinct mildew smell from that room. I even had a guest at my house mention it (that was horrifying!). I called Stanley Steemer a few days after the cleaning and they sent a crew out IMMEDIATELY - they were at my house in under a half an hour. They re-cleaned and deodorized the room. They also left a fan behind to ensure that the room dries properly. I would've given a higher Star Rating, but since they had to come back out to re-clean they only get 3 stars in my book. read more

I am livid, first I took off work to have my furniture cleaned. The service men first complained that there was no parking. When I placed the order, I told the guy who took the order that there was only street parking. The technicians told me that they would have to leave because they could not find parking close enough to the house. Everyone knows that parking is difficult in D.C. They then called back and said that they found parking and would complete the job. Upon entering the house, they looked at the furniture and told me that the pricing was incorrect, and that the cleaning service would cost more. At first I was a little bit skeptical... as for the last 20 years I have used a small private carpet cleaning service. Actually didn't think there would be anyone who would do as wonderful of a job but I was wrong! The morning of my service Will and Steven arrived on time...and I must say they did a wonderful job! they moved everything they possibly could out-of-the-way to get under things and they were very careful and extremely polite. I could not have been happier! However after the carpet dried, I did think there were a couple of spots that were iffy, I wasn't sure if the stains came back or if maybe they just could have hit them with a little extra oomph? I hemmedand hawed over whether or not to call Stanley Steemer back and ask if they could hit the spots again...but it was bugging me so I made the call and even though, if you have a complaint, you are supposed to let them know within 10 days. that part I did not know, and they still sent two guys out to hit the spots once again. I didn't get their names I'll have to call back and ask because the two guys that came the second time... were equally as punctual, polite and friendly. Of the spots in question, after they redid them, they may have turned out a slight bit better but what they did was educate me as to the reason, perhaps they stayed slightly darker was that they were pivot areas at the tops and bottoms of steps. Basically those are the areas that take the punishment where your foot tends to pivot and actually grind the dirt in so it made sense to me. I had my tile and grout floors cleaned. I am pleased with the results - not ecstatic. I can't really see any difference in the before and after. There was supposed to be hand spot cleaning on the grout but I see no evidence of that. They cleaned a VERY dirty recliner and I am quite happy with the results. Workman were very polite and language was not a barrier. They were timely - coming about the middle of the time window. They did leave the nozzle off of our faucet but were very good about returning the next day - after I called. read more

Wow. So I bought new carpet about three years ago. I've been doing everything I can to protect my investment. I vacuum regularly and clean the carpet every three to six months myself. I started noticing a pet odor (damn dog). I shampooed spot cleaned etc myself over and over. I had results but nothing completely took the smell away. Before having the carpet pulled up, I decided to contact Stanley Steemers. They came yesterday and went straight to work. They were very professional and informative the entire time they were here. I am very pleased with their service and results. Carpet has dried and I have yet to smell anything other then the clean deodorizer they used. Very pleased. I feel confident that if the smell comes back, I have bigger issues. After such great service, on top of my regular cleaning routine, I will have this service conducted yearly. read more

My 29 year old carpet is very light beige, about the color of a office printer. Over the years I have had 5 large dogs age, pee, poo, and projective vomited on it so much that I have Stanley Steemer on speed dial. When I think that there is no hope, they come and suck all of the stains off of my carpet, and I believe a few of my freckles too.
