Had my 66 yr. old house ducts cleaned. Only where the air comes down from the HVAC into a sheet metal tank, then out to the newer flex ducts is there rust. But they made a big mess and damaged the sheet metal and where they took down a vent, they tore up the ceiling back to the dry wall. They came back out, fixed everything. They are professional, polite. Take pictures, explain as they work. In some regards, it's really not all their fault, they inherited the problems. They say they can encapsulate that rust so here we go again, I trust them. Yes, it's intrusive, in and out, dirtying up my place, bugs flying around, cost $. I didn't get his name, but he was so chatty that I went out drove to the gas station and got a pack of cigarettes, smoked a cigarette, and he was still there. Then I went out and took out the trash for my aunt at her apartment and he was still there when I came back. So 10 hours of sitting and waiting around later, nothing to show for it. No follow up call or acknowledgment they ruined two weekend days. But they did come on a day they weren't scheduled and I wasn't available.. so there's that.. Don't waste your time, there are a dozen better companies in the area. I used stanley steemer (tempe, AZ) to clean the ducts. The two guys were very polite and seemed to do a good job, although I did not micro-manage them, but just told them the ducts are 50 years old and have never been cleaned. I asked they remove all the registers to clean as I would be painting in a few weeks. When finished, they did a good job cleaning up and I paid. Now 30 days later I'm painting the interior and removing the registers and I'm finding they cleaned the main trunk link, but not the short 1 to 5 foot offshoots to the vent openings. I can hardly believe what happened a few hours ago with the Stanley Steemer person, a man, in my home. Included in what we needed cleaned were a large wool living room rug and a smaller matching one, and 2 thick kitchen rugs. The service man arrived, I was showing him the job, and he says that the 4 rugs will have to be taken and cleaned off-site; it would take 10 days!! I replied that I WASN'T TOLD that, and that that wouldn't work. He begins to explain why they needed to take them. I said No, I don't want the rugs leaving the house, and certainly not for 10 DAYS!! Furthermore I don't want my house dismantled for 10 days! He explains again. I decline AGAIN. This exchange was repeated 4-5 times! I'm now becoming annoyed. I say there's no point in doing a partial job, I'll find a cleaner who will do them in my home. (I've NEVER had a company take my rugs out of the house!) After all this, he finally says he can do the rugs at the house, I said well why didn't you say that. He states I didn't give him a chance. This is a bald face LIE!!! Now I tell him plainly--no, I don't want your service, please just go. (I certainly don't trust a serviceman I now know will lie.) He explains again. I say please just go. He explains and questions again. I say I'm asking you to leave my home, please leave. I'm becoming more and more agitated at realizing I'm asking this man to leave my house, and he WON'T LEAVE; he keeps asking questions, trying to explain. I asked him AT LEAST a dozen times. I would have given them four or even five stars but the last two times they came out the carpets smelled like dirty water for several days, like they didn't rinse them out well enough. I called Stanley Steemer to clean a 5x8 area rug. I had had it cleaned at a local business and it just didn't "feel" like it was cleaned as well as I thought it could have been. I had to drive to the business to drop off off and pick up the rug and just didn't want to got through the hassle of taking the rug in again. After a few months I decided to give Stanley Steemer a try as their reviews on Yelp seemed to be pretty great. I scheduled an on-site cleaning and when the rep got to my house he suggested a more thorough cleaning that would be only $40 more. He explained the multi-step process they put a rug through when they clean it at their facility and I could hardly believe it was only $40 more than an in-house cleaning. ($136 vs $96) The amount of work that they go through to clean the rug (including pickup and delivery ) is pretty amazing. In addition, the rep was very professional and concise in how he explained all they would do to bring the rug back to pretty much new condition. The rug was returned on the promised date, and IT LOOKS FANTASTIC!!! It looks brand new and I couldn't be more pleased with every aspect of my experience with Stanley Steemer. read more

They never charge more than their estimate, unless you request additional services. I have used others in the past to questionable results. I especially like their pre-treating of difficult stains prior to cleaning. Also, their equipment uses great suction to extract most of the moisture for quicker drying. It had been several years since we needed cleaning services, but they were very responsive to our call even in this Covid interruption. The prices quoted were very competitive and better than the others we called. The two techs arrived exactly on time, were attentive and polite (with masks/distancing) when they came to our home. We had two older area rugs that had been in storage and needed cleaning and airing. They cleaned these, showing what they did and the difference they made. at our request, they moved a large chair outside to clean and add scotch-guard. They were so fast and detailed, we added a 2nd chair which they also moved out and in. I see other reviews with surprise costs and difficulties with the techs. Very difficult to do business with. I made an appointment to have an area rug cleaned on a Saturday. I received a call that morning stating they don't come out on Saturday even though the online appointment scheduler showed Saturday available. So I asked if I could drop off the rug and was told I could drop it off any day during the week, just not the weekend. Today is Wednesday and I took the rug to the Tempe location, walked inside and walked around but could not find any good employees. So I called and asked how I should drop off the rug and the Call Center Rep gave me the address to the building I was standing in. When I told her that she looked further and told me they only accept drop offs on Thursday. I can't speak to the quality of the service as I can't seem to get them to do the service. First, and last experience with Stanley Steamer. If you don't have a life, they are the perfect company for you. They will only schedule with a 3 hour "arrival window." and believe me, they will wait until 2:59 minutes are gone before they show up. Maybe one day someone will invent a system where they can PICK UP THE PHONE and call and tell you - before 5 hours of your day are shot. One star because they are very skilled at apologizing. I contacted Stanley Steamer by phone told them the rooms I need tile floor and grout cleaned. They quoted $340.00 to do 2 baths, kitchen, service porch, great room, hallway and entry way. The staff arrived the first thing out of their mouths is the tile is old it was going to take a special chemical to clean tile and the chemical cost more per tile. They then started in about square footage and how the quote was not enough they were going to have to charge more. Now I am up to $560.00. I said why on earth do you people quote 1 price w/o seeing area get here and up charge the job? What on earth I asked are you cleaning with for $340.00?? They then started in about they can't guarantee the floors will be clean w/o chemical. The one worker said he could talk to his boss. He came back and the idiot bosses solution was to not do service porch and part of great room. I said how was that going to work having 3/4 of area clean? His answer was you will have to pay more money I said right w/o your special chemical and no guarantee the floors will be clean. At that point I told them to pack it up and leave. The whole issue is they are quoting over the phone w/o seeing area so they can purposely charge more money. The other thing was house is vacant with no furnishings. I say they quote you a price that is what you pay. None of this bullshit when they get there they can up charge you to a price of their liking to do the job. They will never be called by me!
