Told you we would be back! After exploring Factory Butte and Moonscape Overlook in Caineville, we had to smash a combo at this establishment. Located within a gas station and gift shop, Stans is a great burger joint. Place your order, then stroll to the shop section to browse all the shirts and merchandise. We didn't see any prices posted, so stayed away from the honey trap ourselves. DO NOT SKIP THE SHAKES!! Pick a flavor you haven't had and roll with it. On TV they loop a cool video that shows the highlights of endless cool stuff to see in the area. They cajun fries really stuck out this trip, being super crispy! See you next time when in magical Hanksville!

One of the best shakes ever, thick and creamy. 1 large is enough for 2 people. Fairly priced.

This is what a burger place should be. Super solid burgers. No pretentiousness. Buns are fresh and excellent texture. Burgers taste like a burger should/ delicious and not over seasoned. Fries are battered and crispy.

Have to stop every time I make my way near Hanksville. Food is delicious, vibe is nice, and service is quick.

After visiting Goblin Valley State Park and traveling towards Bryce Canyon, the Fat Man and his wife wanted lunch. Cruising into Hanksville, Utah. We stopped at Stan's Burger Shak. Stan's is a casual eatery dishing up grilled burgers, fries, and shakes near Lake Powell. We decided to split lunch and started with a Banana Shake. It was a very thick vanilla soft serve with good banana flavor and a few chunks of real banana. I like mine a little thinner, but this was a good shake, and they give you a proper amount in the shake. Next up, we went with the double burger and fries. The fries were cooked well with good crunch and seasoned well. They are out of a bag, and the serving size is adequate. The veggies on the burger were fresh and offered good crunch and texture to the burger. The brioche bun was fresh and had a good chew, a slightly sweet and buttery flavor. The American cheese was melted well and offered a gooey texture. The burger sauce was very sweet but helped cut through the burger patties. The patties tasted like they were frozen pre-formed and had minimal seasoning. The burger-to-bun ratio was okay, the patties were thin but not smashed; however, the burger lacked flavor and did not satisfy the palate. Stan's has a full menu of burgers, wraps, fries, onion rings, salads and sandwiches. Pretty much everything you would expect from a roadside burger joint. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The Fat Man says that Stan's Burger Shak is NOT Fat Man Approved.

Double cheeseburger and large "Cajun" fries. Don't get the double. Single is better balanced. Good, but not as good as Five Guys.

Stan's is good. Not as good as a place like Five guys on the East Coast, but certainly notable for Hanksville, Utah. Milkshakes are made with soft serve ice cream and are very sweet and rich. There is NO REASON to get any size larger than SMALL.

This was a small shake. Lots of flavors to choose from.

Big burgers here. And super thick shakes. If you're hungry, this is the place to stop. Gas station and gift shop here as well. Plenty of parking.

If you've never been to Stan's before, your eyes will be wide with shock at the monster-sized milkshakes here. While my family was hiking Capitol Reef on a weekday, we bumped into some hikers who highly recommended Stan's for a quick dinner. They raved about their milkshakes and the extensive selection of flavors and the ability to mix and match flavors too. They just forgot to mention the size of the shakes. Hungry after a long day of hiking, my family stopped by Stan's on our way from Capitol Reef to Canyonlands. The exterior is nothing fancy as it shares the building with a truck stop. There are a few covered picnic tables outside, but majority of the seating is inside the restaurant. We walked into the restaurant and up to the counter to order. Next to the counter they have a Trip Advisor Best Fast Food Restaurant of 2022. Their burger/sandwich menu is quite large and includes Hank Burgers (hamburgers), Hank Burgers with cheese (cheeseburgers), Fish Sandwiches, Chicken Wraps, Duke Burgers (bacon cheeseburgers) and many more. You can also order thee burgers as a combo which includes a side and drink. As far as sides, they have French fries, onion rings, Cajun fries (curly fries), jalapeño poppers, deep fried mushrooms, etc. Lastly, their shake menu had at least twenty different flavors including some unique ones like coconut, mango, grasshopper (mint with Oreo cookie), banana cream pie, apple crumble, and peach cobbler. Note that you can upgrade your combo drink to a shake for an extra fee if not already included. I ordered a Hankburger Combo #1 which included a Hankburger, side of fries (I swapped out for Cajun fries), and a milkshake (i got blackberry). Like a typical fast food restaurant, they call your name when your food is ready. We got our shakes within 10 minutes of ordering and our food within 15 minutes. The Hankburger was honestly just passable; nothing extraordinary by any means. The Cajun fries were also just okay. However, my companions ordered the regular French fries and those were the BEST FRENCH FRIES I've ever had in my life. They are not like your ordinary fries; these ones have a delectable crispy coating (cornstarch maybe?) and are fried to perfection. I normally don't like deep fried foods, but these fries were very addicting. As aforementioned, the shakes are HUGE and double the size of height of the soft drink cup it comes in. While the blackberry shake was good, our favorite was the Peach Cobbler milkshake. It had chunks of peaches and pieces of oatmeal crumble adding great texture and taste to an already creamy and thick milkshake- did I mention they serve their milkshakes with a spoon instead of a straw? Overall: 4/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 3.5/5 for atmosphere

It's located in Torrey- you can spot the gravel parking lot with lots of cars in front. In fact we actually didn't see the restaurant because there were 2 rows of cars parked in front-a good sign! The menu was varied- from pizza ( more about that later), steak, salads, sandwiches, trout, mexican food. Good selection of alcoholic drinks, beer and soft drinks and even ice cream floats. The meals came with a choice of salad or soup and choice of baked or mashed potato, fries or vegetables. I ordered the steak sandwich which was strips of steak with grilled vegetables -onions and peppers, cheese and a spread of guacamole. It was served on crusty ciabatta bread. I asked for no added salt on the steak and they graciously accommodated me. It was nicely seasoned and didn't need the extra salt. The meat was nice and tender. Hubby ordered the starter dish taco (2) and it had a large piece of battered fried fish. It was crispy and moist. It could be an entree! I saw other diners order the burger and it was thick and large. Another party ordered the large pizza- let me tell you it was huge-almost big as a lazy susan. It could easily feed four or more. And the price was so reasonable- $23 for the premium pizza and $22 for the others. Looking around, all the meals that came out were generously portioned. No wonder the place was full! In spite of the steady flow of customers, the staff was very friendly and helpful and came by to refill waters. We didn't have to wait too long for the food in spite of the busyness. For those wanting a good meal after a day in the park, come here!

The brisket was around average in quality and the flavor was heavily reliant on the BBQ sauce (although that was quite good). It also came with veggies and potatoes on the side. The sirloin steak was also average in quality - nothing special to note. We asked for medium rare, but it was cooked more to a medium. The prices were fair considering the limited options in the area and the type of meat. The restaurant is connected to an inn and it is decorated in an old-timey western style, which I liked. The staff are friendly, although the service speed could have been a bit faster. Overall, while the quality of food was fairly average, I still enjoyed my experience, and given the limited options in Torrey (especially later at night), Broken Spur is still a solid choice.

This is a room that isn't advertised in 3rd party sites and has to be booked on the property website only - it's something like 50% cheaper than the rooms in the hotel. The room comes with unlimited tea, coffee, and hot chocolate from the General Store/Cafe. We were a bit confused with how it worked since other customers have to pay for drinks, but the clerk assured us we could go whenever to get drinks (which we did multiple times!) While we checked in too late in the day to eat at the deli and left too early in the morning for Chuckwagon's famous lunch boxes, we did hit it up in the morning for breakfast pastries, which according to the cashier are all baked in house (and why we were attracted to them in the first place). We were having trouble deciding between the Kouign Amann and the Chocolate Croissant, eventually deciding on the former, but the cashier tossed us the latter for free! What great service! Chocolate Croissant (Complementary, normally $6) - This is a gorgeous looking croissant, golden brown with a drizzle of sweet chocolate on top, still soft and gooey thanks to being fresh from the oven. It's baked hard, so croissant shards fly everywhere while eating. I'd say it's baked a tad too long, so while extremely flaky, the interior isn't quite as chewy as I'd like. The lamination does look quite good from what I can tell after having some difficulty slicing through with a plastic knife. As is traditional, two chocolate batons are baked inside. (5/5) Kouign Amann w/ Cream ($6) - Again, this pastry has a really hard bake, so almost the entire thing shatters easily, except for the stellar caramelized sugar layer covering the bottom. It's hardened, sticky, and sweet with a great crunch factor. The interior is actually correct for a Kouign Amann, which is really surprising for a small-town bakery. It's not laminated nearly as much as the croissant, and instead seems to be a nice enriched brioche interior, albeit not particularly airy and soft in texture due to the bake. There's a really tangy and somewhat sweet cream cheese frosting that's piped into the center. I'd actually prefer the pastry without this extra flourish, but beggars can't be choosers! (5/5) Both pastries are more of a 4.5/5 due to the bake, but the ingredients and technique (other than bake) seem to be well thought out. We were not expecting much from these baked goods given that the Chuckwagon Deli isn't exactly a specialty bakery, but in the end we were extremely surprised by the quality. I'll definitely be revisiting if I'm ever in town again.

They only offer breakfast sandwiches now but it's made to order so we got to choose type of eggs and proteins. It did take a bit a time for them to make it so factor that in when planning your visit.
