    All American Burger
    Steve H.

Stopped in for burgers. Staff were very nice and attentive when ordering. Food came out fast; too fast it seems - burgers were overcooked and tepid like they had been precooked and then warmed. The cheese on my burger was black from the grease fire that seemed to have occurred during reheat. Onion rings were also overdone and tasted more like oil than onion. Considering it was before 1:00 pm, the bathroom was not very tidy. Won't be back...

It was like this all evening.

Great little old-school burger place ! onion rings were great. The all-American burger was spot on. We also got pastrami burger and a southwest burger both were great! Really good service - took a while because it was packed. That's always a good sign when a place is packed. Talked to several locals and this is their go to spot. If Capitol Burger food truck isn't there - like tonight! This is the alternate.

Good food, quick service and clean joint. My husband had the burger and I had the pulled pork and both were fresh and delicious. Yummy shake to end the meal

The normal burgers were good but the kids burgers look like a much cheaper meat. Fries were very greasy so switch to other sides. However service was very friendly and fast.

    Slacker's Special

I ordered the Slackers Special which is supposed to come with bacon. It did come with bacon so I went up to the counter to tell someone. They seemed pretty confused and I had to refer them to their own menu where it clearly says it comes with bacon. They then managed to add half a strip of bacon. This is pretty disappointing especially given I paid $20 for a burger, fries, and soft drink and I think the chicken sandwich with bacon was several dollars more than a regular chicken sandwich.

This was a great little burger spot in Torrey. The usual suspects are on the menu but they also have a couple of great ones you don't see at other places, like the Southwest burger with lots of chilis. The chicken tenders were also really good. The fries were crispy, and everything is made to order. The service was great, there's plenty of seating so if you have a big group you can definitely fit, and they keep ketchup and BBQ sauce out in the front so you don't have to wait in line or ask someone for extra condiments.

It's a home town "fast" burger joint. Very polite, quick service and a great mushroom Swiss burger with good waffle sweet potato fries and a very good buffalo burger. Exactly what we needed and a very nice outdoor seating area. They do have plenty of tables if you choose to sit inside. Not even sure what is with some of the other reviews? Prices are definitely resort area and reflective of inflation! Mushroom Swiss Burger

A bit pricey for what it is, but pretty good burgers. We'll go back when we return to that area.

There aren't too many good options for quality dining in Torrey, but Broken Spur is pretty good. I…read moretried both the Smoked BBQ Brisket ($28) and the Sirloin Steak ($28). The brisket was around average in quality and the flavor was heavily reliant on the BBQ sauce (although that was quite good). It also came with veggies and potatoes on the side. The sirloin steak was also average in quality - nothing special to note. We asked for medium rare, but it was cooked more to a medium. The prices were fair considering the limited options in the area and the type of meat. The restaurant is connected to an inn and it is decorated in an old-timey western style, which I liked. The staff are friendly, although the service speed could have been a bit faster. Overall, while the quality of food was fairly average, I still enjoyed my experience, and given the limited options in Torrey (especially later at night), Broken Spur is still a solid choice.

After trying a few places in town, we found The Broken Spur to be one of the better dinner experiences available. The atmosphere was warm and very "Utah country" in a charming way. Little details like the cloth bandana-style napkins and the rustic mugs for the drinks gave the place personality without feeling overly themed or touristy. The views toward the reef are also beautiful and definitely add to the experience. The service was actually excellent. Our server, Gentry, was incredibly sweet, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout the meal. She made thoughtful recommendations, checked on us appropriately without hovering, and made us feel very welcome. She really elevated the entire experience. We ordered the ribeye and a salad. The salad was fresh, nicely presented, and honestly one of the better parts of the meal. The ribeye itself was okay, perfectly decent, though not especially memorable for us personally. To be fair, we are probably a little spoiled when it comes to steak because we are used to very high-quality grass-fed organic beef, so our standards may not be entirely fair to a small-town steakhouse in the middle of southern Utah. Still, the meal was enjoyable, the biscuits served beforehand was a nice touch, and overall the experience felt comfortable and pleasant after long days exploring Capitol Reef National Park. Overall, this is a solid dining option in Torrey with attentive service, a cozy western atmosphere, and beautiful surroundings. Not necessarily a destination steakhouse, but definitely a good place to relax and enjoy dinner after a day in the park.

Rock Reef Cafe - Pan fried trout with fries

Staying in Bicknell after visiting Capitol Reef National park and needed a place to eat dinner…read more This place had lots of positive reviews so this was our choice. Wow! Reviews didn't lie! It's located in Torrey- you can spot the gravel parking lot with lots of cars in front. In fact we actually didn't see the restaurant because there were 2 rows of cars parked in front-a good sign! The menu was varied- from pizza ( more about that later), steak, salads, sandwiches, trout, mexican food. Good selection of alcoholic drinks, beer and soft drinks and even ice cream floats. The meals came with a choice of salad or soup and choice of baked or mashed potato, fries or vegetables. I ordered the steak sandwich which was strips of steak with grilled vegetables -onions and peppers, cheese and a spread of guacamole. It was served on crusty ciabatta bread. I asked for no added salt on the steak and they graciously accommodated me. It was nicely seasoned and didn't need the extra salt. The meat was nice and tender. Hubby ordered the starter dish taco (2) and it had a large piece of battered fried fish. It was crispy and moist. It could be an entree! I saw other diners order the burger and it was thick and large. Another party ordered the large pizza- let me tell you it was huge-almost big as a lazy susan. It could easily feed four or more. And the price was so reasonable- $23 for the premium pizza and $22 for the others. Looking around, all the meals that came out were generously portioned. No wonder the place was full! In spite of the steady flow of customers, the staff was very friendly and helpful and came by to refill waters. We didn't have to wait too long for the food in spite of the busyness. For those wanting a good meal after a day in the park, come here!

Rock Reef Cafe is another simple dining option in Torrey, and honestly, in a town with limited…read moredinner choices, it works well enough after a long day exploring Capitol Reef National Park. The atmosphere is casual, family-friendly, and relaxed. They have both indoor seating and a large outdoor area, which is nice in the evenings when the weather cools down a bit. The service was interesting because it felt very inconsistent depending on who was helping us. The male staff members were attentive, friendly, conversational, and checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. The female servers, on the other hand, seemed distracted and less engaged overall. More than once, we noticed they brought the check without asking whether we wanted dessert or needed anything else. It did not feel rude exactly, just uneven in terms of attentiveness. One thing I really enjoyed was the whiskey sour, which came complete with a little umbrella. I had not had a drink with a tiny umbrella in forever, and honestly it added an unexpected level of vacation happiness to the evening. Sometimes small details carry the mood. The house salad was actually very good, especially because they were generous with the avocado, which immediately earns points in my world. We also had the trout with mashed potatoes. The trout was decent, though a little dry, but still enjoyable enough after a long day outdoors. We noticed a lot of people ordering pizza, so that may actually be one of their stronger menu items, though we decided to skip it this time. Overall, Rock Reef Cafe is a solid, casual option in Torrey. The food was decent, the drinks were fun, the atmosphere was comfortable, and while the service could be more consistent, it was still a pleasant enough experience overall.
