I had an exam and bought new beautiful glasses well over a year ago. I stopped at Stanton East today to see if they would tighten up the frames and put in new screws. I needed to get in for an eye exam on a specific date and this was the only place with availability. Now I know why! First of all, I wasn't told until I was already here that it was going to be a telehealth exam, meaning over a TV screen with an eye doctor that wasn't on site. Okay, fine. She barely spoke English and I couldn't really understand her, but I was already here and just wanted to get it over with. Then I told them what contacts I wear, and they said they've never heard of that brand (Eureka dailies, by Bausch and Lomb) and they can't dispense a brand that they themselves don't sell. It's never been an issue with other optical places, but okay whatever. I told them I wasn't planning on ordering from them anyway, I always order them through Walmart but unfortunately they didn't have an eye doctor available and couldn't do the eye exam and that I've done this before. They said they would write the prescription for Acuvue instead. I told them I would really prefer to stick with the same brand because I knew they worked and I could afford them. I told them I also wasn't interested in weeklies or monthlies, only dailies. They said they could just write a prescription for Bausch and Lomb since they couldn't do Eureka specifically, and that shouldn't be a problem. Well, like an idiot I didn't look at the prescription to check that it was correct. They wrote a prescription for Acuvue monthlies. So, when I went to fill the prescription, my contacts couldn't be dispensed. Walmart called Stanton and they said they could change the prescription but I had to come in person, it couldn't be done over the phone. Annoying, but not a huge deal. Well, when I came in to Stanton I was told they "can't legally" change a prescription to a brand that they don't sell themselves. Again, I've done this other places before and I was told on the phone that it was doable as long as it was in person. When I asked for a refund so I could go get another eye exam elsewhere, I was told this was impossible since they had already performed the service. What "service", I don't know since I wasn't even actually seen by a doctor, I'm not entirely sure the prescription was correct since I couldn't understand her, and they didn't write me a prescription for the contacts that I wanted. As far as I'm concerned I didn't receive any "service" other than my time being completely wasted! read more

How is this place even in business? First, the lights are turned down so low it's hard to even pick out a pair of glasses. On top of that all the display glasses to try on have a blurred/fuzzy lens-not clear. Trying to pick out a pair of glasses is definitely a challange. You would think they would have the lights turned up and clear plastic in the frames to promote purchasing glasses there. I nearly walked out but it's dictated by insurance where I can go. I was given lame reasons for both the lighting and the fuzzy/blurry plastic in the frames that are displayed for choosing eye glasses. Very nice, pleasant staff except for 1 person just wanted to rush me to pay for a repeat eye exam and rush me out the door. I do question knowledge and skill level. Either the staff not trained well in eye measurements or equipment is faulty or the lab is faulty. Frame problems after my prescription lenses put in them and prescription made definitely a problem. May be a combination of all! It's obvious by responses that this is an ongoing problem as I read in the other review on this site. This place should be shut down. Now to deal with the insurance part of it and the company getting their money back so I can go to a reputable skilled high quality optical center-we will see where that goes! read more

To be fair, I went here about 10 years ago and it was great. Now, I went and the sales person said 3-5 days to get my glasses (knowing my current ones are broken) Then... I check on my order via phone 3 days later and it says 14 days..... Okay, well that's already ridiculous but whatever. So now, I call at about 10 days and it says "it's taking longer than expected and if it's over a week longer than expected we'll let you know" Wait, so are we talking a month now? Firstly, had I known it would be over 5 days, I probably would have used Zenni in the first place. But I trusted Stanton from last time. Entire process unacceptable. Tele-visit speaker mumbling. Could not understand him due to thick accent. Glasses came back with incorrect prescription. Went to east side stanton to real optometrist and he said other prescription grossly inaccurate. One month later still no glasses. Asked for refund a was told i would get complete refund. Five calls later and follow up calls...no refund request was filed by stanton. It is three months since this fiasco began. No refund. read more

That was the worst ever eye appt. The virtual Dr. asked to read, and I explained I could not read the letters, and he hollered at me to read, when I couldn't he just skimmed thru the rest and said I was done. Zero stars for this place. Examiner over the computer barely spoke English and kept coughing and wiping his nose the entire exam. Ordered 3 glasses for over $800 and told I could pickup 2 in an hour and one would be shipped and received in 2 weeks. Received a call later that daythat since one is being shipped they all have too. This is after staying in Madison and I live an hour away. I received 2 of them 2 weeks later and have yet to receive my 3rd. Am being told it was mailed through the postal service. Terrible experience. Very rude and disrespectful staff. The younger Asian looking women (wish I had her name), is super distasteful, mean and outright disgusting behavior. I told her I don't tolerate the puff of air in my eyes as I have very sensitive eyes, allergies and migraines and to her reply "it's just a puff of air". She'd continually say things like I'm not here to argue with you -- so on and so fourth. So I've had a horrible experience not only because of her but the other staff / technicians have been rude and snooty as well. They also implement and utilize a hybrid eye exam. So you're in the room with a "virtual doctors ASSISTANT"!!! It was pitiful and by far the worst and most traumatizing eye exam I've ever had -- in my life!!! I would 100/10 recommend NEVER visiting a Stanton optical! Particularly this location! Bad service, awful employees and experiences that come with them and just overall left a horrible taste in my mouth that will not go away. She also grabbed my current glasses -- NOT from Stanton that are broken. Re-scanned them regardless of that they were literally just scanned two days ago. And tossed them on the table regardless of her knowing that they are currently broken. So I'll be contacting corporate regarding her disgusting, foolish and senseless behavior. Not at all impressed with the bait and switch tactics used by the sales staff. I believe they are on commission from their behavior. The pricing was not transparent and I ended up paying more than 40% more than I did 2 years ago for the same products. I went to Stanton Optical AGAIN against my better judgement in May just to order lenses. The lenses didn't work so they tried again. The second set didn't work so I asked for a refund. "It will be on your card in 7-10" days. I have checked and check and checked, called 3 times and finally they said they'd issue a corporate check. I will NEVER go there again. No one seems to know what they're doing. And if you've ever had a teleprompter eye exam, DON'T DO IT. It never works!!!!! I stopped in there last Friday. Huge mistake. An employee who was very obviously sick was coughing so badly and not wearing a mask or covering her mouth. I asked the guy working there, "is she sick"? To which he replies, "yes, bronchitis and an upper respitory infection, but she is taking meds". WHAT? She in not well! She is probably contagious! Send her home! Then the young lady with the 2" white long fingernails with raised art and bedazzled was assisting me. She must have called me "hon" 30 times in 15 minutes. She was more than half my age and calling someone "HON" is annoying as all get out. Anyway, her nails were way too long to be sanitary. She could barely type on the keyboard as her nails just got in the way. Really disgusted with the entire store, it was dirty, one employee was too sick to be there, and I had to get up and leave. They had already copied my insurance card and DL, so I asked to have my copy back in which the long fingernailed girl replies, " I will shred it in the back". Hello? What? No ma'am. Kind of the weirdest optical experience in my life. In 1976 I was first informed I would be required to join the 4 Eyes club. Probably two years earlier might've been highly beneficial. But as it happened, this was my grade 5 year in school. To add color to my tale, this year too was the year I realized penguins were vicious. I can't recall for sure of personal beatings, though I do think a yard stick was raised to my tail end for distorting the truth I believe. I mostly witnessed the penguins as they reigned over my fellow inmates. Billy G, he was hoisted by both ears by Sister Patricia, right in Bible class one day for a forgotten and probable inconsequential sin again mankind. In this year of 2021, sort of post COVID-19. Due to close proximity to individuals, the Alabama eyewear still requires paper facial prophylactics upon entry. Entry is to a wide array of men's and women's specs. (Didn't notice and signage for the models offered to the pronoun crowd.) I guess this place is floundering in the dark ages of only two accepted genders. Oh my! A lovely young lady greets me and tells me that yes, I can have an immediate optical exam, but I do have to wait 30 minutes for the lunch break of the presumed optician. NP. The next part is where it became peculiar. Actually, the next, next part. First I did the routine removal of my contact lenses and perform a series of expected tests wherein my eyes are measured by amazing devises that someone super brilliant hopefully became immensely wealthy. Except for the medieval devise I call "the puffer". This checks for glaucoma by making you focus on a really pretty hot air balloon. Once you are relaxed and imaging how wonderful it must be up in that thing POOF! A horrifying puff of hellfire air is squirted directly into your cornea, thus determining you might be eligible to get a prescription for high quality government dope, ie weed. You gotta do this two times, and the second sucks because you know your not gonna be tricked again, which might mean they have to do it till you comply with this Hitler style Wehrmacht! Nows the weird part. Because if COVID-19 stuff, the actual eye exam is performed by a person (I suspect he's in a distant prison, some cushy white collar country club, guilty of tax evasion or similar) located remotely. Viewed through a small corner of the goggles this final examination determines your eyes RX. I'll skip the blow by blow. This piece takes about 5 minutes. Each eye gets a series of variables that eventually result in the correct lens shape and thickness. It's bizarre because it seemed very Matrix-y The guy is pressuring each step. An urgency that I prefer to be called impatience. "Hurry up, just keep this moving along shall we, I have 80 more patients in 42 states to ramrod thru this boring turnstile (...as I await a break to walk in the sunlight before chow") If the gorgeous woman who was so nice wasn't what I am writing the nice part of this essay for, I'd give Stanton optical 2 stars. The cheap 2 for 1 glasses is very welcome. Cheap glasses are something I'm grateful for for the many people who really are taking a beating in terms of costs. Because I am able to afford my glasses and contacts I'm very blessed. So this place is indeed wonderful, as regards them seeing me on the same day, that's 5 stars!!! "Sara" should not continue to work customer service. Hit or miss with customer service at Stanton and exams are rushed. 02/11/2021 - Awful experience . Some rep named Sara Vent or Bent or something (if that is her actual name, very recognizable voice) provides no customer service what so ever. Got a call from Stanton west the next day and apparently no one named Sara works at the west side so either the google number brings you to a customer service line, or she didn't give me her real name. I asked "Sara" over the phone to fax my prescription to Walmart (I've done this before with no issue), and she seemed clueless how to get it forwarded, I said just fax it. She said it would take 48 hours and I needed to sign a release (after already verifying who I am) or come into the store. I'm no where near the store and on my lunch break. I had no time for either of those and I told her to get it faxed to Walmart like I usually do or just talk to the Walmart Optimist if you need to. After some BS run around said she would have someone forward it in a couple of minutes after clearly just trying to end the conversation. Had a feeling she wasn't going to follow through. After 10 minutes of nothing I call back and the same number on the west side and the "Sara" girl answers the phone (same voice, same escape any responsibility attitude). I said hey did you fax it I'm waiting here? She pretends not to recognize me. She makes up a story of how there was "nooooo way" it could be her I spoke with and has no idea who I am in a sarcastic tone (this is the same number, 10 minutes later and confirmed today yes it dials you in to the west side location). At this point im frustrated and call her out on it. I asked for her manager and she didn't allow me to speak with them. Then I asked for her name which she was reluctant to give and told her I was going to make a complaint. If she didnt know what to do she should have let me speak with someone who did instead of wasting my time with false promises or making up stories. I called the east side to complain about this and they had the perscripton sent in 30 minutes. They also messed up my contact prescription (previous was -3.00 and my new one is -2.50.. how does that work? Did my eyes get better??) . I finally left (after a person who walked in after me complained, and an optometrist on site saw her before me). In the past, I have had timely service. WORST STORE EVER!!!!!!! There is NOTHING positive to say about my experience at this store. My husband, friend and I scheduled eye exams at Stanton Optical. That was my first mistake. We drove 1.5 hours to get there, and when the guy working there said, "How can I help you?" And I said, "we have eye exams scheduled, he said, "OH GREAT" , clearly not happy we were there. They started giving us our "exams" (if you want to call them that). The manager of the store took us into a dark room, and used a flashlight to look at our eyes. Then I was taken to the exam room.....to be "examed" by a TV screen.....no dr in the room. Halfway through the exam, something stopped working, and she had to call the manager in to do something....we picked out glasses ( they DO have cute frames) and found out that the "2 for $138 complete frames and lenses" would end up costing almost $600! Then I was told that the "exam" would be $99 since I decided I wasn't going to get glasses! All 3 of us experienced horrible service...in fact, they took walk-in appointments before us! And charged my friend $50 for "contact fitting" when they didn't have contacts in the store to try on! When I called customer service to complain (our prescriptions were wrong when compared to the prescription from last year....the new prescription showed our eyes improved....they didnt!) The supervisor Peter expected us to drive to the other store on the other side of town....1.5 hours away...and my husband would have to take an unpaid day off work.....to get a new eye exam with an actual Dr in the store.....SERIOUSLY??????? I wanted 2 pairs of computer glasses. The first 2 pairs were made for reading glasses distance. I returned those, and chose larger frames. I also wanted them tinted, because I have cataract surgery floaters. The second glasses worked for the one pair, with a gradient tint. The other tint was too dark. I brought that back, and then thought I would splurge on progressive computer glasses. They came back, and they were not anything I could see out of. I thought, ok, progressive computer glasses is over their skill level. I said I'll take that 2nd pair just in the single vision computer (like the one pair I, thankfully, hung onto. They came back in single vision, far vision. I brought them back, stating, again single vision computer glasses, with the gradient tint. They came back with a dark, not gradient tint, with a reading glasses prescription again. During all this, every time I called, I would get the people at central office. They would tell me someone from the store would call me back. No one from the store ever calls back. Ever. When I went in to pick up the final botched pair, and ask for a refund, I was told that they would contact the "regional manager" and that fictional person will get back to me. Stanton Optical are incompetent liars. My next step is small claims court. Do not go there. I will include a picture of my two pairs of glasses, with the "identical" lenses. read more

I called on oct 2 to make an appointment for my husband for Friday oct 4th. I ended up having to call back to change the store that I had scheduled my mistake, they couldn't find the appointment. So I rescheduled for the right place on Friday received a voicemail that it was confirmed, an hour later got a call that I missed the appointment the day before. I explained I never made an appointment for that day it was for Friday.He reiterated that appointment was not there. He suggested I reschedule the appointment. I told him to forget it, that would have been the third time for the same appointment! have never encountered such incompetence trying to make an appointment and then the confusion that followed is ridiculous. Updated I have since went to an appointment at Stanton optical. I was impressed. They were very efficiently and I left with two pairs of glasses complete, same day. read more

I have decided to never do business with Stanton Optical in the future, not due to one single factor, but many obstacles that added up during my experience. 1) Having my eyes checked remotely was very unexpected. I fully expected to see a doctor in person to conduct the test. It was a "doctor" that appeared on a screen. I am not sure, but think she was working from India. 2) The series of letters used in each portion of the test seemed to be exactly the same, the same string of letters which made it hard to know if I was actually seeing that letter or remembering it.It was like a drive thru rapid test, rushed. 3)Spent time looking at frames, chose one. But there was a problem with the store's system accepting my credit card. It was run 4 times and wound up maxing out my card. I then had to wait several days for it to be corrected, which delayed my airline reservations I needed to make with that card, and the flight price rose by $65 due to the delay. 4)The associate who waited on me was not treated well by the higher ups that day. Their tone and treatment of her was condescending and just not friendly. The guy in charge seemed more annoyed with the associate than sorry to the customer for the hassle. 5)When I finally was able to pick up my glasses, (a 62 mile round trip), I could not see a thing through the reading portion of my progressives. Yes, I understand the fields of vision with progressives. I know exactly how they work. But I could not see anything, read anything through the reading portion. It's was as bad as not having any glasses at all. 6) Went to leave, already feeling very, very unhappy and realized they neglected to give me transition lenses that I ordered, too! They said it was a mistake but I would have to pay the extra $85 for what was originally left off the original quote I so carefully budgeted for! 7) I was asked to come back after "trying them out a few days" and rescheduled a real person eye exam, (since the dr only comes in once a week). So, another round trip was planned. 8) Meanwhile, I made the decision to get a second opinion on my vision test at another place with an actual optometrist. I got a prescription that was not the same as what Stanton gave me. I have yet to test the glasses, but am confident they did a thorough job. 9)So I needed to cancel the appointment Stanton offered me, but the "modify this appointment" link that was sent in an email confirmation is a dead link. Doesn't do anything. Just there for show, like the store itself. 10)Drove back to physically return the glasses for a refund, was treated well by an associate I had never met. She handed me a receipt showing the reimbursement to my card. 3 days later, the credit card company shown no refund pending. So I had to again call Stanton to figure out what was going on. Finally told it should be getting to the card company soon. Today, it was credited to my account. I immediately paid for my glasses with another company. All of the hassles I had, not once did the manager offer any relief other than an apology. I am not entitled to a discount, technically, but it would have gone a long way to keep me as a customer. When I told the associate I couldn't see through the reading potion of my lenses, she went to the "lab" and did something, I have no idea what, back turned to me where I can't see what she is actually doing. Came back, said nothing except to try the again. No explanation of what it was she did and how it might make a difference, just an awkward silence as I tried to deal with my shock of them being SO far off the mark. This company is all about making the sale. At no part of the process did I feel like they actually gave a hoot about the hassles brought on by their poor service. It felt rushed, shoddy and just a bad vibe in my dealings with them. This business is all about making the sell. Not about what is best for a customer. The attitudes and tones in that place had me feeling so uneasy. Never going back to these guys. read more

Ask for the store manager. He is much more knowledgable than the other employees, and he also has more access to insurance information. I really wish that I had just asked for him earlier because I waited around for over 45 minutes just so the employees could tell me that I was "no longer covered under my parents"...which the manager (with a quick search on his computer) found otherwise. The selection at Stanton is limited (especially if you are looking for name brand frames), but I was able to find a few that I really liked and fit my face well. I'd suggest going to LensCrafters if you have in-network insurance, because the selection is much more inclusive there. But if you have VSP like I do, Stanton is a great alternative as long as you don't mind doing some hunting! I can't wait to wear my new glasses. B) read more

Review from Kim M 1 star 10/26/2022 I had a telehealth vision exam. When my eyeglasses arrived, I could hardly see through the lenses. I was told to give it time. I ended up just using my old eyeglasses. I finally went back to my local Stanton Optical and ordered 2 pairs of eyeglasses, using my old prescription. The following is a list of everything that went wrong: 1. Only 1 pair of glasses came in. 2. They could never find the 2nd frames that I ordered. 3. The lenses for the 2nd pair of glasses came in, but not the frames. 4. I have gone directly into the store several times for some resolution. 5. I decided to get a full refund of approximately $744.00. 6. The manager said he would call corporate to ok this refund. 7. Never received a call back as promised. 8. I called customer service and they have no record of my receiving a refund. 9. Can't reach a real human when calling the store. So, at this point, I have no eyeglasses and have no refund and no communication. This is unacceptable. Stanton Optical has a guarantee on their website that states: "If you are not completely satisfied with your frame (s), we will gladly restyle them at no charge for any other equal or lower-cost frame in our inventory or refund your full purchase price for the goods." I never received my 2nd pair of frames that I purchased. I never received a call as promised, when they told me that they would try to find out where the frames are. I have had enough. I will be contacting our local news channel to help me obtain my refund. I have spent too much time and energy on this situation. ******************* Update: Still no call from Stanton Optical-as they promised. From my complaint that I filed with the BBB, Stanton Optical Corporate reached out and stated that "Upper Management" will call me within 48 hours. No phone call and the 48 hours is up. Absolutely horrible experience. I broke the frame on my glasses and hoped Stanton Optical could help. I called to make an appointment, and when I explained the issue, I was asked for my date of birth. At the store, the staff were rude and unhelpful. They offered no options because my frames were not purchased there, even though they had hundreds in the store and I was not asking for an exact match. If you are sick of companies that promise everything in their ads and deliver less than nothing, take a stand and cross this place off your list. read more

They did not honor their advertising with a free pair of glasses and up charged my first pair by hundreds of dollars. Some WEIRDO purchasing plan that made absolutely no sense. I purchased 2 pr. of glasses about 2 yrs ago from Stanton west, they had to be redone 3 times before I gave up, they were never worn. I liked the frame and on 4-12-23, with my own M.D.'s RX, I tried again. The woman told me there had been staff problems back when I first bought them. but they had been corrected, and that my old frames were still OK, never worn. I paid for them and was told they would be ready by 4-26-23 and I would be called. My ins. is BCBS Fed. EE. Plan On 5-9 I called the west store, no answer, called the east store, told to keep on calling west. Called west addtl 8 times (eight), phone rang until it was cut off, kept trying, 3 (three) additional times the phone was picked up and hung up. Found several 800's finally getting an offshore person who claimed to be a supvr. (ERIC) who, after a protracted period of time, admitted my lenses had been "lost" huh? what do you mean lost, it was already 2 weeks after my promised date. He INSISTED the promised date was only an estimated date, and he would expedite it and that I should get them by 5-25-23. When I called today 5-10-23, no one answered any call at any number. HEY! that's 6 (six) weeks after I ordered them. I can see to drive and see to observe activities, but I cannot see to read. Have they gone out of business? what kind of business is this anyway? What do people who need glasses right away do? Certainly not Stanton. I only went back because my Federal Employee Plan gave good pricing AND because I was assured they had cleaned up their act, and that I could use my old frames. MAYBE, when, IF, I actually get them they will be the right Rx. Caveat Emptor. This is time for "Call for Action", and/or consumer protection, and BBB. read more

I dont normally yelp, but I wanted to write a review for the people who work there. Especially the general manager. I broke my glasses around three weeks ago, if you knew my prescription you'd understand that really sucks for me. But I made it work...but they got worse, and worse and I couldnt wear them anymore. So a coworker referred me to Stranton, they had such a good deal going on that I couldnt go anywhere else. When I went in, I was surprised with the selection of glasses they have...most aren't my taste, but I'm kind of picky. I was quick to be greated, and as I walked around, the staff assisted me with keeping track of my favorite pairs. Then I went into the eye exam....which...is horrible. I have a VERY special prescription that an eye doctor over a webcam cannot diagnose? Idk the right terminology. (I have a prism which means hands on testing to see how the eye reacts to the strength) they were not able to handle that procedure. But I took the prescription they gave me because...well.. I need glasses. Ever since then, (Thursday 2/20 then to 2/22) I have had a HORRIBLE headache because I know the prescription is not correct. Visually, yes, very clear, but my eyes are not able to focus and that is causing me some issues. HOWEVER, the service from the general manager and the pre-exam person was amazing! They start you off with the most expensive lenses you can get, which, as a company I understand..as a patron..I was frustrated because I'm a girl on a budget and when I heard the price I was shocked! (However, great price for TWO pairs of glasses, I also got two pairs of $125 glasses for only...$125) but when I explained my situation, the GM took me to the bare bottom and I was able to afford it. When he 2as loading up the order, the internet was slow, I wasnt in too much of a hurry but I did have to be back to work at a specific time. So he gave me a complimentary add on because of the wait, and, rushed my glasses to be completed because mine were broken and I had to leave. I went back there today (2/22) to get them adjusted, and they were very busy. However, the GM seemed to remember me and made sure I was assisted to get them adjusted quickly. I'm not sure if it was a special treatment or not, but it felt like it, so I wanted to make it a point to be said. I purchased 2 pair glasses here three years ago. To be exact two pair of lenses(I brought my own frames) went to the west side store and got overcharged for a service I did not want. I ended up going to the east side to get my charged fixed AND my lenses/prescription fixed. Fast Forward to last weekend. I went into west side store again to get a quote on two more pairs of lenses(my own frames again). They said I need an eye exam first which I agreed to and asked if I wear contacts. After the exam, they told me it'll be $350 for everything two pair of lenses and the eye exam. I told him I am not paying that since I paid $150 last time! And tried to make me pay for my prescription that I was told it was $45 and now it was $90! read more

I have had mixed experiences at Stanton Optical. I went in looking for a new pair of glasses and was excited about their buy one pair, get the other pair free deal. I was pretty impressed with their selection of glasses. While I thought some appeared cheap, there were also some that seemed of better quality. For my second pair I got sunglasses. I was not impressed with their sunglasses selection, but did manage to find a pair. The gentleman that helped me was very helpful and professional. He wasn't pushy about whether or not I wanted the more expensive choices for lens, which I always appreciate. I was a little surprised at how fast things added up though. You think it won't be much more than the most expensive pair of glasses you chose, but there are a lot of random charges on top of the frames and lenses. In the end though, I still managed to get two nice pairs of glasses for a fairly reasonable price. The business doesn't always seem to have enough staff on hand. When I went in to pick up my glasses, there were a lot of customers and not enough workers. People were getting frustrated and it seemed like the staff were stressed. In the end, I waited at least half an hour just to pick up my glasses to then find out that they didn't have my sunglasses ready yet, even though I'd received a phone call saying they were ready. The employee that helped me was very kind, but it was frustrating. I ended up having to come back when the other pair was ready. All in all, not a bad place, but they have things they can improve on. Different times of day, especially the weekends are very busy so expect to wait. read more

I had originally gone to Stanton Optical to get new glasses, and they said they would be ready within 14 business days. About 2 weeks later, they called to let me know that while they were putting one of the lenses in the frames, they had broken, and they couldn't get another pair so they wanted me to come in to pick out a new pair. I went in, chose a new pair, and left. About 3 weeks later, I called inquiring about when my glasses would be ready for pick up. I was then told that they had no record of my order, and that I should come in and pick out 2 new frames, AGAIN! Needless to say, I was not pleased, and I asked for a full refund. read more

I went in for for an eye exam and to order contacts. They ordered bi-weekly contacts for me instead of the dailies which I had requested. When I went to pick them up I verified that I was picking up a years supply since the bag it was packaged in seemed like it was smaller than I expected. The woman working the desk confirmed it was a years worth. I left the store and was in the parking lot when I opened the box and realized they screwed up my order. I went in to get it sorted and the employee Tatiana was incredibly rude about the situation going as far as telling me it was my fault and problem to deal with. They refused to issue any sort of refund. I refused to accept delivery of the contacts and am filing a dispute with my credit card company. In addition to ordering the wrong prescription for me, the "bi-weekly" contacts came in a pack of 24. That only comes to 48 weeks. That's an entire month short of a year. Scam of a "optometrist." They're only concerned with stealing your money. I wasted hours waiting for my eye exam and prescription processing only for them to screw it up. Incredibly unprofessional and I will make sure everyone I know avoids this place like the plague. read more

I had an appointment. Was told over the phone it would take 15-20 minutes. Took over an hour. The store needs some updating. Very dirty, outdated. The technician was very friendly, but returned late from her lunch break which caused the backlog. I will not come here again. read more

I took my 2 defect glasses ( the one I was asked to pay "20% co pay under warranty" total of $50 when two new one cost $79.....) to Sears Optic. They fix one of them for FREE! Why anyone will buy with Stanton??!! read more

I was very impressed with Stanton Optical's eye exam process. It was very modern and had high safety protocols in place for Covid. The staff was professional and friendly. I was put at ease quickly as I walked into the shop to see that the associates were quick to ask about my insurance plan-- which did not go with their store--, and up front informing me what options I had and timelines. No pressure, honest answers and referrals to others and up front about a turnaround timeline (which I needed) options. I ended up using the vision screening and was further impressed with the optical appointment. My appointment was a virtual appointment, but in real time! The doctor was able to operate the vision machine remotely and talk to me as if in real time. She listened to me and we were able to talk "normally". It was a very safe, clean, professional, modern experience. The price is right too for the test ($45) and I was able to carry it out with me and it's good for 2 years. Well done Stanton! read more

Last December I got a prescription for 2 pairs of glasses--distance for driving and close up for computer work. Since I waited until September to get the glasses I obviously wasn't in dire need. But after a vacation which involved a lot of night driving it became clear I should have the driving glasses at my disposal. A "trusted" local news personality appears on the Stanton ads hawking their ongoing "2 for $69" glasses sale. To me this seemed perfect. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on glasses I only need occasionally. So I took my prescription and walked in. The sales lady who approached me was friendly and helpful without being pushy. My wife and I went over several pairs of prospective frames, noticing there were none on display with the $69 price. I saw maybe two pairs at $79, the vast majority were $99 and above. So I said, "All right, it looks like I'll have to spend a bit more to get the glasses I want, but heck, even at $109 for two pairs I'm still getting a decent deal." So we agreed on a couple of frames--each getting a simple single vision set of lenses for their respective purposes--and headed to the counter to talk over the various options. The "helpful" sales lady proceeded to rack up the additional costs. The price for the frames did not include the lenses! Walmart and other similar shops include single vision plastic lenses with their frames. Then came the coatings for anti-glare, UV protection, scratch resistance...it sounded like good things to have, but I wasn't really sold on the need for all of that for my intended occasional use. The final tally came up at $378! Maybe that's not a bad deal in the grander scheme of eyeglass pricing, but it was five times what I had planned on spending when I walked in the place twenty minutes prior! When I reacted to this sticker shock the sales lady got nervous and began backtracking on the up-charges. When I said that was not within what I was planning to spend she asked what HAD I planned to spend. At this point it felt like we were at a sleazy used car lot. She brought the manager over, waived more special "deals" at me...it really took on a haggling atmosphere I cordially despise. From my experience performing in-home sales a generation ago I knew at that point Stanton has an extremely high markup on their products and services--otherwise they wouldn't have been so quick to drop the price. Anyway, the "best" they could do only brought the cost down to about $250. We walked out. After digging around a little bit online I found a service which is sending me a pair of glasses (the ones I need for driving) for $78. This includes the lenses and the coating for UV and anti-glare! And no additional cost for shipping. If I like what they send I'll get my other prescription filled there too, and write a review for them. In any case, I am done with Stanton and similar stand-alone optics stores. If I go back to a brick and mortar shop for future glasses I'll stick to the shops inside mall and big box stores. read more
