DON'T GO HERE. The absolute worst experience I've ever had at an optometrist. I went to see Dr. Fackrell. He rushed through the test without giving me a chance to compare the lenses properly, or to even respond. Before I had even had a chance to compare them, he would cut me off and say "it's good enough" and move on to the next lens. His manner was extremely rude, he had zero patience, and I could hardly hear him through his mask and mumbling. He couldn't care less about my opinion or to get the prescription right. I almost walked out the room in the middle of the exam because of how rude he was, and how I could tell that the prescription was going to be inaccurate. He wanted the appointment to be over as soon as possible. I've been to many optometrists and know what an eye exam is like when done properly, this was the opposite of that. At the end of the test I told him that I still couldn't tell the difference between an O and a C, and he said "yeah that's fine". No one assisted me in choosing my glasses or even told me about the pricing scheme, I found that out by accident. There are about 6 pairs that are part of the deal and they all look like joke glasses, the kind you would find in a costume store to make you look ridiculous. So when I got home from the test I ordered others online using that prescription, so that I would have glasses that looked even slightly okay. They advertise same day glasses, but it took 8 days. After receiving the glasses, I still have terrible astigmatism looking through them, they are only slightly better for reading my computer screen compared to my 6 year old prescription glasses. The left eye prescription seems completely off, it pulls my eye in a strange way and is blurry compared to the right side. The doctor prescribed one set for reading and one for distance, but I have no trouble focusing my eyes for reading (I've never needed reading glasses), and I can actually read as good close up with the distance ones as I can with the reading ones, so why did he prescribe reading glasses when I didn't need them? My problem is astigmatism, not general eye strength. So now, only after receiving these glasses do I see how completely wrong the prescription was, and so I actually wasted even more money by buying okay looking glasses online with this wrong prescription. I wouldn't be surprised if using these glasses will make my eyesight worse, because these glasses aren't made for my eyes, the prescription is completely wrong. read more

I visited Stanton Optical yesterday and had the worst experience I've ever had with any medical facility. Stanton optical was recently built near my home. When I suddenly realized I was out of contacts, I went to their website and saw they accepted my insurance, which is Aetna. Making an appointment online was simple and they had a same day opening. I checked in at the desk and provided my insurance information up front. The doctor was not overly friendly, and the exam was 15 minutes, max. When I went to check out, the total they gave me was insanely high compared to what I typically pay at LensCrafters. I asked why, as I had checked my insurance coverage beforehand. At this point they decide to tell me my insurance is out of network. I mentioned that they advertise themselves as being an Aetna provider on their website. The receptionist said they take "some plans" and that I should have checked my insurance ahead of time. Is it not logical to assume they are a preferred provider if they clearly state they are on their website? So I paid $75 for a contact lens fitting and exam (which they advertise as being free) that would have been covered somewhere else 100%. They obviously knew my insurance was out of network and didn't bother saying anything. This is a medical facility that falsely advertises their services and cares only about their pockets, not their patients. I am a full time employed single mother of three with outstanding insurance. $75 down the toilet to have someone puff air in my eye then show me different slides to check my prescription is a huge blow. Don't go there UPDATE: I emailed the email address provided in the comments by Stanton. I got a response saying the manager was looking into this and I would hear back with a resolution. Been waiting 3 weeks, no call at all glasses we in. Recieve glasses, they don't adjust them or anything! Here and out the door you go. Told them the left lens is blurry can't see...they said wear them for a week then come back! Transitions don't even cover the entire lens. For $1000.00 Wrong! Do not go here! We called several weeks ago for appts for my husband & I. First, we got a call they had to reschedule because of an emergency. Cool. We reschedule & they call the day of the appt to say they had double booked & needed to reschedule again! So, today was the day. Appt is at noon & they want us there at 11:45 to fill out the paperwork. We arrived at 11:45 & I see a line of people sitting over by the optometrist side. We sign in & notice the times of the appt for the people who are waiting. I hear one woman say they had been waiting 22 minutes past their appt. Another lady says she has been waiting for an hour. We left -- that's ridiculous. I had read another review that said you have to pay the optometrist & then you get a credit voucher to use. Husband questioned the appt setter & was told that we wouldn't have to pay the optometrist. WRONG! You do have to pay. No intention of using this place. read more

This company and all advertisements are extremely deceiving. As with all good bs companies, they don't lie....ish. But be aware, they are old school bait and switch. If you want an eye exam and glasses for $59.99, like they advertise, dont go here! It's a scam. You definitely get an exam and can pick from a hand full of crappy "value" frames which is their $59.99 deal. But dont forget that you need LENSES in those free frames! You definitely can't leave paying $59.99, but that gets you an eye exam and FRAMES... No lenses. If you're looking for mediocre frames, or better yet, no lenses at all, this is your go to place. After several mistakes on their part, and after 2 mos of waiting for my glasses I find that I could have and should have gone elsewhere, but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. My glasses were giving me double vision..it took 3 times and they finally corrected the problem by having me go see my optometrist and bringing them the new script..they said the glasses woudl be ready in two weeks....NOT...I didn't get them for almost 3 weeks and everytime I called to check on them I didn't get to talk to anyone I had to keep leaving messages and my call was never returned...I finally had to go in person only to be told it would take another 2 weeks, grrr...i've seen other not so good reviews but ignored them because I had to find out for myself....now of course i'm paying the price...all I can say is good luck to those that go to Stanton optical.. read more

I drove all the way from southwest Caldwell to have an eye exam and buy some glasses, but instead was told we cannot have an eye exam OR buy glasses unless I wear a face mask, even though my Wife and I are exempt from wearing a face mask under the American's With Disabilities Act! My original opinion of Stanton Optical was less than favorable however, today they really turned it around. I came in to have my sunglasses adjusted for the 6th time. This time the manager got involved. Rather than taking my prescription to Costco or Walmart to replace my broken glasses the manager, in order to keep our business he replaced my sunglasses and daily wears for a total of $58.80; even though the breakage was my fault. I'm walking out with over $900 worth of frames and lenses for $59. Needless to say I'm very happy with the service and will be coming back. read more

The worst!! They wouldn't even let my son see the doctor. They said he needed a specialist because they couldn't get an accurate measurement of his eye. The only guidance I was offered is "let your fingers do the walking". I left in tears and went to Americas Best just down the street. They didn't have any trouble getting him the glasses he needs. I took my eight year old here for his first set of glasses and everyone was very helpful. We just walked in and they made time for us even with one dr in the office and many other appointments scheduled. They have a lab on site and once he picked his frames his glasses were ready in 20 minutes which was super convenient. The $59.99 is not exactly accurate so be prepared to spend more but overall it was a very positive experience for my son. read more

Despite the negative reviews I had read, I decided to give Stanton a try. I went in with many questions to ask so I would know exactly what to expect and what I was looking at, price wise. They were able to answer all my questions and were upfront and honest with me. I got exactly what they said I would for the price they told me. I was very pleased with their customer service. I was in there for a couple of hours but who isn't when you are trying to pick out glasses, plus they put the lens in while we waited. I left with an eye exam and 2 pair of glasses and I spent a third of the price I've spent in the past for less. I would recommend this place to others and will be a returning customer. read more

I made an appointment for an eye exam and intended to purchase glasses. My mistake may have been booking online, Friday after Thanksgiving. I drove about 50 miles round trip. The staff I had contact with were extremely nice. I filled out the required forms. After a fairly short wait, I was informed that since I have macular degeneration I would need to see their optometrist, who didn't bother to show up for work that day. this place is the worst! can't get ahold of anyone when calling the store direct, the call center isn't helpful- barely can understand a word they are say with the mass amount of noise in the back ground, there isn't an actually person to do your eye exam it's on telemedicine- which would have been fine but again can't understand a thing they are saying or asking. I had my eye exam done in Boise, the store manager Gaylene was great- she was even having issue with the call center- they were asking her for protected patient information when she was assisting with a follow up appointment for me at another office. tried using the online system to modify follow up appointment because the call center booked it wrong so I wouldn't even be seen by the doctor which is why I needed a follow up in the first place! then tried calling today after spending an hour trying to modify online- which wasn't working and kept saying they couldn't find my account information. Tried calling direct to the Nampa store 5x to notify them of change in appointment but again no answer and kept getting sent to the call center! needless to say don't waste your time nor money trying to work with this place! read more

The customer service was ok when we went in. They said our order would be here within two weeks. Here it is 2 1/2 weeks and nothing. Looked up order status online and it says in transit for a week. Call the store no answer or that stupid automated voice answers and no one ever picks up. My girlfriend has no glasses and needs hers to drive and stuff. Lady comes to tell me she can't really confirm my benefits on the phone because her phone keeps cutting out and asks me to look it up on my phone. Seriously? So I pull it up on my phone after having to create an account because I have never had to do this. Not my job....And hour later I finally get called In and do the first part of the exam (getting contacts) then I wait another 20 minutes just to be told the dr is on lunch and I have to get a teleheath exam? That's not what I signed up for. But wth I had my 2 boys with me and figured I was almost done. Nope. After the weird exam with a dr on a tv screen. I get hurried out of the room to be told sit here and we'll have your prescription ready and your free trials and to look at frames. I sit there for another hour before they call me up to pay for my exam. Tells me it's 99 bucks. I tell her No it's not, did you bill my insurance. Says back to me did you tell them you have insurance? Seriously,??? Duh I did that part for them. Then tells me my copay which is the max that it's ever been at 60 bucks. My copays have always been 10 bucks. Pay for it then asks if I want a 6 month or 1 year supply. After telling me there's delays I opted out of it. Pay my copay and never received my free trials. When I asked about them she said I have to buy something. Didn't I just pay for a 2 hour long eye exam? I will never return there again. Unprofessional and rude. The staff has no idea what they are doing or how to bill insurance. Will never return again. I will be reporting them to the board of optometry. read more

I would suggest that you do NOT go to Stanton Optical in Nampa for your prescription or glasses. I had to go in five (5!!!) times trying to get my glasses right in 6 weeks. (I live in a rural community and had to drive 30 minutes one way, each time!) I have worn glasses for over 35 years and NEVER had problems like this. It made me dizzy to wear my bifocals and seemed like everything was in 3-D or slanted--so much that it looked like the ground was really far away and I had to pay attention to walking! (I've had bifocals for 10 years.) The reading glasses prescription made everything tipped/slanted. It feels like a cracker jack box optical place...like no one there knew what they are doing...UGH! It looked to me like they were attracting minorities and uninsured people with their "Get 2 pair for $59.95" and "Get a free eye exam" deals. (That's the majority of who I saw there the 5 times I was in.) The "deal" is not real!! IF you don't have insurance...you have to pay $45 for the exam up front and then IF you buy your glasses with them, then they will credit back the $45 to you. Their eye doctor side and eyeglasses side are TWO separate billings. And the frames you get to choose from IF you want the "2 pairs for $59.95" is in a very, very small corner section of the store. AND...each time I was there, someone else was in ALSO, with glasses that DIDN'T work correctly! Do yourself a favor and DON'T go there! read more

Second the female at the counter makes it seem you are getting a discount, I paid over $1,200.00 for glasses and contacts. Took over a month to get my glasses and contacts. She tells you its better if you buy the 6 months of contact lenses and if the trials don't work out after 30 days you can bring them back. Well I went in to return the contacts and she immediately changes her tune. She became rude and told me I can schedule another appointment with the doctor. I told her I just wanted a refund. She then starts to get angry and immediately said oh it's more than 30 days. We can't refund them, it's been over 30 days we don't return after 30 days. I reminded her that I was told to try the trials for 30 days, and she said I could return them if I didn't like them as long as I don't open the boxes. She never said we don't do returns after 30 days. She rudely said, "Well there are signs all over the store." She said she would have her manager contact me. Wish I would have read Yelp reviews before going in! This place is horrible! First they get you in the door thinking you will get 2 pairs of glasses for $59, good luck with that! This is truly bait and switch. I finally find 1 pair of frames I like after searching for way too long only to find out they are over $300. They push me hardcore to leave them a good Yelp review, um for what bait and switching me? Finally get them and the prescription is way off, I don't know if it was even mine. I immediately tell them something is off when basically it hurt to look through them and I know it's not right and they blow me off, "oh no, it's your prescription, wear them a while and get used to them" I can't even wear from more than an hour and get excruciating headaches each time I try. I go back and ask for a refund and thats when they get super pissy, most unprofessional people I have ever seen. I had to stand my ground and firmly say at least 10 times, "No, give me a refund." It was the most hassle and stressful return I've ever had to do. Go to Walmart, go to Costco, go anywhere but here, as all the other Yelp reviews are right, they are liars and thieves and yes I agree they are a corrupt business. read more

Mine were not there. Get the runaround. Then a call at the 15th day I need to pick out another frame that one had been discontinued. Very unproffesional!!! My family just moved here from out of state. When my son lost a screw from his frames, and bent the tiny metal loop the screw goes into, I didn't know where to go to have it fixed. The shop we used before is not a chain and doesn't have an office anywhere around here. I decided to pop into Stanton to see if I could pay them to fix his glasses. The man who helped us noticed right away that my son's glasses were not from Stanton, but he was super nice and fixed them right there on the spot without hesitation. When he gave the glasses back to my son, he noticed that they were not sitting correctly on his face, so he asked for them back. He made a couple adjustments and sent us on our way. Later that night, my son said "Mom, my glasses aren't slipping down my nose anymore!" I never realized they were slipping because they needed to be adjusted. I wish I had gotten the man's name, but I didn't. I will definitely be coming here for all of my son's glasses needs in the future. Awesome customer service! read more

Beware! They advertise 2 pair glasses for $59.95 and include a free eye exam. Prior to your appointment they advise you to go around the store and pick out frames. Then after your eye exam they explain the 2 pair glasses deal only applies to specially marked frames. They had about 6 frames to choose from, and 2 of the available frames were old-school wide frames in electric orange and bright red. If I would have known how limited the selection was-I would have looked at other shops as well. read more
