I got an eye exam yesterday and went in to see if their progressives were really $135 for two and it turns out they are!!! Two years ago I paid close to a thousand dollars for my glasses. Unfortunately my rx was incomplete and now that it's late in the afternoon, I'm just going to go back tomorrow but what a delight the staff was and super helpful trying to help me get all the right prescription details needed for progressives. It's nice and clean in there and a great feeling environment and soooo many frames to choose from and also possible same day service!! Can you imagine getting your glasses done in one day?! I haven't had an eye appointment in 2 years prior to making one at this Stanton, and I am beyond grateful to have scheduled at this location. I am truly writing this review because of the amazing customer service shown by Liz, Janet, and Mike. They answered all of my questions and were extremely helpful when reviewing my newest prescription and going over my contact/glasses option plans. They saved my vacation! I lost my glasses to the ocean and within 2 hours on a Saturday, they were able to get me in for an eye exam and get me set up with contacts. Worst Way to do service all time allow a customer to make an appointment for a time that doesn't even exist why even offer assistance at all. I had a great experience here thanks to Emily! I made my appointment online and was able to snag an appointment at 6PM. I arrived at 5:55 and was immediately welcomed by all the staff working and let them know that I had an appointment for an eye exam for glasses and contacts. Emily was quick to assist and let me know that she would be doing part of the exam however, the rest of the exam (reading the chart) was done virtually. I did mind this at all and Emily handed over their iPad to fill out my personal information and history with my eyes. As soon as I was done, Emily took me back and explained each machine to me and ensured I was comfortable throughout the process. The chart exam with the virtual doctor was also great! He allowed a break as he understood one of my eyes was having a bit more trouble focusing on the letters. After this was done, my presentation was ready and Emily assisted me in purchasing my contacts. As we were going over pricing, I mentioned that I'd like to purchase contacts through Costco and Emily said they price matched and can have my contacts shipped to my house! It will take around 3 weeks to receive them as I needed a special pair but I don't mind. Overall, I had a wonderful experience considering I have been due for an eye exam for a few years and I'm glad I chose this place. I purchased three pairs of glasses in the spring of 2022 from this location. One pair of lenses was fitted to my own frame and the other two, to frames they carried. Now right away let me say that if you are going here expecting to find the same kind of higher end designer frames other opticians carry: you will be disappointed as most of their "largest stock" is all generics and overpriced at that. But two of the glasses came back okay. But one semi-rimless needed an edge roll and polish that they charged for. Those lenses did not come in with it. It was a fight to get them to fix it. They did eventually though. Fast forward less than a year and the anti glare coating (another upcharge) on all three pairs are beginning to delaminate. I finally go in this past September to get my lenses replaced under my warranty-except it wasn't what was explained to me and now I have to pay for new lenses (but at a discount lucky me). Fine. The new lenses come in and the roll and polish on them is trash, genuinely sloppy and choppy and parts of the edges are left unpolished. There are little micro-chips taken out of the lens edges too. I explain that I'm not taking these this way and I want them repolished. I am told that they have a polisher but can't use it without supervision. Fine. I leave the glasses and go home. I get a phone call saying that they will remake the lenses entirely and that I can come pick up my current ones (after of course letting me know passive aggressively that they are sorry it isn't up to my standards and that there is nothing wrong with them). Or that the choppiness on the edges "are because they are transitions"- no. And if you think they are, you are in the wrong business. I come in, and my frames are now all chewed up. The finish is scratched off all around the eyes and bridge, the lens is loose and popping in and out. I ask what the heck this is about-and godbless Steven, goes to check with the other woman working there about what happened to my frames between the day before and this day while it was in their care...and she says "I don't know I just took the lenses out and put them back in. They were probably like that to start with." Good now we are calling me a liar. I want to state unequivocally that this is the absolute most I have ever paid for lenses in my life, and simultaneously the absolute worst quality I have ever had. I still have transitions with anti-glare with rolled and polished edges from nearly eight years ago (obviously purchased elsewhere) that look brand new and cost half of what I was initially charged here. Im demanding a replacement of my frames and lenses under the provision of their own paperwork they had me sign stating they would do so in the event that my frames are damaged while in their care. Let's see if they do. I will update with what happens. UPDATE1: it has been a week now and I have spoken to the regional manager Debbie. She has been extremely combative and unprofessional in my opinion so far. There is no customer service in this companies vocabulary, just whatever serves them best and forget the customer. There seem to be a number of reviews here that have had the same ongoing issue. I have provided my broken frame model number to them for replacement. Will update again when something else happens. I came to this location after a bad experience at a different Stanton Optical location. The people here worked very to find solutions and make sure I ended up with glasses I was happy with. They were patient and helpful. I think the marketing/pricing is deceptive but I will say that I left with glasses that I am happy with and the staff treated me well. Nov. 21, 2022, I went to Stanton and spent $390.80 for progressive lens glasses and sunglasses. 1. The prescription was wrong and they sent them back for corrections. 2. The progressives were horrible. I couldn't read anything. I was told to get a Prescription from my opthmologist, which I did. 3. Again, I couldn't read with the progressives. 4. The manager, John, recommended bi-focals. 5. I finally received the bi-focals on Friday, May 19th, 2023 when I called them. I never received a notification that my glasses were in. 6. Finally I got the glasses that I needed. It took 6 months. I cannot recommend the Oceanside location. Caroll read more

PARENTS BE AWARE So disappointed. It took about 3 weeks to get glasses. Not even a month later my 7 year old trips and they fall off and fall apart basically. It will cost more than the 2 for $69 deal. I think she quoted me $89 for the warranty on glasses. It has not even been a full month with the glasses. Seriously disappointed and the public needs to know just how horrific of a situation I am going through with you guys. When I purchased from you guys in July 2020 I ordered glasses and 1 box of contacts and became one of your members through your membership account....meaning no charge for my eye exam for next year. I picked up my order about 3 weeks later...my eye glasses and 1 box of "Air Optix Night and Day Aqua". I still have the box that I picked up from your store with a pair of contacts in the box. I recently went to order contacts through a different company. They require the prescription from you guys to fill my order. So I uploaded the prescription to them and paid for the order. They came back to me stating that the prescription for contacts reflects "Acuve Vita" and they cannot complete my order because I ordered the "Air Optix Night and Day Aqua" the contacts that are in my eyes and that I picked up initially from you!! So I contact your office and they tell me that they cannot help me. I must pay for and schedule an appointment with your doctor for another exam. I told them what I just stated above that YOU MADE AN ERROR ON MY PRESCRIPTION BECAUSE IT DOESNT MATCH WHAT I ACTUAL HAVE IN MY EYES THAT I PICKED UP FROM YOUR OFFICE. He responded by stating that because my eye exam was in July that there is nothing he can do but to charge me for an eye exam and schedule the appointment. He didnt listen to or doesnt understand English or offer to assist me or look into the matter....nothing! I am in shock. You screwed up my prescription and you won't correct it?! What the hell kind of place are you running!!! I asked to speak to a supervisor and he hung up on me. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! You havent heard the last of this either! I will be reporting the doctor and your office for issuing a false prescription and/or anything else that I can do to get this resolved and to make others aware that you RIP PEOPLE OFF AND MAKE ERRORS TO PRESCRIPTIONS THAT CAUSE PROBLEMS. At first the service was very proffesional. Sadly it changed when I asked for a refund or an exchange for the 6 weeks supply of my contact lenses purchased beginning of July. Contacts were cracking right into my eye, so I was now going through the supply much faster. It must be a defective batch. I was told that no refund or exchange could be given because the box was open. Nathan said to contact CopperVision, the manufacturer directly. Coopervision immediately agreed to make it a no-cost exchange, but they don't directly deal with customers. The exchange still has to be done through the store. I returned to Stanton Optical with this information, this was in July. It is now October, I'm completely out of contacts and am completely ignored by Stanton Optical. For weeks I tried to bring these two companies together to communicate correctly, showed up in the store because you cannot get anyone on the phone...unless you want to make an appointment or spend money on glasses. Their customer service has you on hold 30 plus minutes (CopperVision, who's been the most helpful has the same difficulty), and when you finally get to talk to someone they don't know how to help. Instead, Stanton Optical wants to know how I go through the boxes so fast, and what they can send in to exchange since the boxes are used up now. Duh...lenses kept chipping, I needed to use what was there to be able to see. It's real simple...CopperVision is NOT asking for a payment or the boxes. Just put in the replacement order, attach pictures I took of defective lenses and any email communication between companies. That would be it, but instead Nathan dodges my calls. After showing up there again on 9/26, he promised to contact me 3-4 days later. Today is 10/6 and no word from him. Again I will have to spend my time off from work to get a face to face conversation. I had to go ahead and order contacts through someone else yesterday, cost of almost $100. I've never experienced anything like that from a retailer. This experience far outweighs anything good I thought about Stanton Optical in the beginning. read more

I just had a very good experience with Stanton Optical Oceanside. I came in with my presentation from my regular optometrist and needed glasses the same day because I had a DMV eye test coming up soon. Employee Emily was very helpful. She looked at my prescription and took it back to the technician to see if I could at least get lenses on the same day that would help my distance correction. (To get my full "progressives " prescription would take several days.) As promised, I received my distance correction glasses the same day and found frames (2 sets) that I liked. Stay away!! We got lured in because they were available an easy to book and exam with. But even though things seemed convenient at first, it only went downhill from there. First, not a huge fan of the tele-visit, but OK. Next, we get upsold on many options, but OK, I guess. Then we get the glasses and the transitional lenses do not transition properly. Unfortunately, since these are for my son, I didn't notice right away. So we paid extra for extra features (transition, anti-glare, etc) that did not work. Soon after, I also notice one lens is not seated properly in the frame, and I tried really hard to get it to pop in, to the point I was worried I'd break the frame, with no luck. I called about this and they acted like we had done something (NOT the case), so it was going to be our responsibility. We limped along with the glasses as they were. Fast forward 18 months and now they're being jerks about giving us the prescription so we can use it as a reference when we get a new exam and glasses elsewhere. PS: Calling their service center was also not great - they were rude, the communication and customer service skills were poor, and the advice they gave sent me in circles. Bottom line: Waste of time and money, and most of the people you deal with are not local (which isn't everything but it's a factor). read more

My husband and I have been extremely unhappy with our experience with Stanton. My husband got glasses through them and the frame snapped after a month and a half. He didn't drop them or anything. We went back to utilize the warranty and had to pay a fee to use the warranty. We did it. Then 2 months later, while sitting watching TV, the frame snaps again. I called to see what could be done. And they said they basically couldn't do anything because the frame warranty was already used. They told us we could buy a new frame and that was it. Needless to say we won't be returning. And I definitely would advise against going to anyone else. Go to Lens Crafters instead. Prices are pretty much the same and they actually stand by their products! read more

Would have liked to have had more of a glass selection. Got 2 pairs of glasses and 1 pair of sunglasses with the premium package, plus exam (high tech) for $250. Lots of parking. Located across from LA Fitness Had problems with glasses. Prescription was not right. Lots of frustration. Came back new management. Real eye doctor present. Looks like they fixed problem, will take a few days or so to get used to. Let you know, for now I feel they are working to clean up the old mess. Wouldn't suggest using them. read more

Jonathan and Nathan are the best! I've been to LensCrafters and and this is my first time at STANTON OPTICAL. Both Jonathan and Nathan were very helpful and made it so easy. Not there isn't an eye physician onsite but with the the help of Jonathan we had a doctor join in by ZOOM & that I have to say was AWESOME! It was so easy, great service, friendly and they were both so helpful! Great 70-80's soul music to listen and bounce to while picking out glasses!
