Received a call saying "you are due for an exam and the doctor asked us to call you to schedule an appointment." Sounded about right I am due. Made an appointment. Despite the staff being friendly and helpful, this place was a complete nightmare. I went in a week ago for an eye exam - contacts & glasses. The eye exam was done virtually and I had to retest several times because they couldn't get my prescription correct- I even had my prior prescription faxed over (twice) so they could have something to go of. They were so far off. The virtual doctor rushes through and it is very impersonal. After my 8 hours my time wasted and not getting a decent prescription- they were unable to refund my exam cost. $89 down the drain along with 8 hrs of my life. Save your time and money. Go elsewhere. Visiting Stanton Optical is like being in a bad science fiction movie. No optometrist on site. Exam is done with automated remote controlled equipment and "technician" is on a video screen asking you questions. Information is then "reviewed by an optometrist" I assume. I needed glasses specifically to use on the computer for work. They advertise same day delivery on glasses BUT apparently because of my prescription can't be done in their "lab". I have had glasses made at a "real" lab and had them done in one day. My "same day" glasses will be ready in 2 weeks! I have an exact distance I need these for to see my monitor, no effort was made to verify that the "computer glasses" prescription will work at the distance to my monitor (other "real" optometrist checked this with a tape measure to insure proscription would fit my needs. My one pair was more than their 2 for 79 dollar special. If you have a very basic simple prescription, you might get away with using these people, now I am scheduling a "real" exam to fix my problem and get an exam I can feel comfortable with. Their waiting room was empty, for good reason. I was the only appointment durring the time I was there, that should have been my first clue. Stay away from this store! I ordered two pair of glasses (get one free). The first one came in after two weeks. The second one never made it, even after seven weeks. I kept calling. They constantly said they would call me back, but no one ever did. I finally called customer support in the home office .They told me I could have one pair of glasses with half the cost refunded. This place is a mess. Let me start with bullet points I noticed upon entrance- 1) The building is located in a shady part of town, with the alley way behind the building, having numerous drunks and vagrants sitting in the road and laying down. 2.) The visual appearance of the exterior is impressive, but once you step inside that changes quickly 3.) The interior is vast, yet has large open rooms with dirty floors, and lack of employee presence. 4.) The large selection of eyeglasses are cheap off brand glasses, poorly lit with lighting and poor organization. I witness an employee roughly throwing glasses into drawers under displays without care of bending the frames. 5.) Poor customer service, if that. This store has hardly any presence of customer service at all. Ok, as I entered I was confused to as where to go sign in. The first room you see is a lobby of type, with a podium. Yet there is no employees to greet you or direct you to the right location. So I walked beyond this and saw the room with glasses for selection, yet there were still no employees located here either to help you. The third room is lobby type where I figured you are to sign in. I was not greeted or asked anything. I signed into a clipboard and had a seat. It quickly become evident where all the employees had gone, there was a small contact room that they were all hanging out in. Up to 4 of them, chatting about what their plans are for the upcoming weekend. I made contact with all of them, yet received no acknowledgment at all. A manager I assume, noticed this and set some things straight. The hostess I assume, then assumed that I was there for glasses and started saying that I need to pay upfront full cost- without first reading my information on the clipboard, which states that I was here for a contact exam and contacts with insurance. Then she was unclear of how to process my insurance of what my co pay would be. I was quickly tempted to cancel and leave but decided to stay, because this was becoming quite comical and entertaining. Next, the only good thing about this place is the doctor. He has good bedside manners, and is knowledgeable and personable. He had me in and out quickly and efficiently. Next, I sat for 30 minutes waiting for a contact firing, which was basically me putting the sample contacts on without proper follow up fitment. I sat back down and waiting some more. Next, I was escorted to the eyeglass selection room, where the employee started talking about what glasses I want and a eyeglass plan... what?! These people do not communicate or read documents. I am here for contacts, and a exam. The employee then started talking about upfront costs, of which I again stated I have insurance. She had a very hard time ordering my contacts, having complications with basic math. I ended up paying a co pay on contacts plus a difference. After this it was noticed an error in my insurance payout, but I decided for let it go, because I was here for over a hour already. Overall, my experience was poor and I will highly unlikely will return in the future. My only concern is that my contacts order would arrive in a timely manner at this point. I'm back nearly 6 months later- to get a copy of my contacts prescription. I waited nearly 20 minutes before the lady at the front desk would even help me. She literally told me I have to wait because she is busy- exact words from her mouth. She was in no hurry to assist me at all. This place is a complete joke. Listen to all the bad reviews, the good one's must be friends or family of employees. Notice when you read the bad reviews they all have something incommon making the opinions truthful. If Stanton got it's policy and procedures in order they would be a good place to go, I mean they have them equipment and the glasses right, they just need to be organized, sales prices in a correct format and not try to mislead the patron. I had the worst experience at Stanton Optical and wouldn't recommend anyone to believe what they advertise on television. It took about 45 minutes to see the optometrist. Once I walked in the room, the optometrist was going to exam my eyes from the television. Once I picked out my eyewear, I meet with the sales associate. He rung up two pairs of glasses for $600. I was shocked! I told him this not what you advertise and I had a budget of $200. Stating well you don't really need this type of lenses it was brought down to $215. As I waited over a week with no phone call to pick up my glasses, I finally decide to go in stores to see what's happening. When I spoke to the sales associate he inform me that my glasses came two days ago. I said well I never got a call and he told me their machine is down. If you aware of your machine not working why didn't anyone verbally call me. He couldn't answer that question. So I asked to speak to the manager. I informed manager of the policy that if you haven't receive your eyeglasses after your promise date that you get a refund and only have to pay for the eye exam. He refused to adhere to the company policy. I emailed corporate and haven't receive an email back. This company fails with communication with customers and sticking to their policy. I showed up at 6:40pm with no appointment scheduled, took me in no problem. The patient coordinator was a nice girl named Lily, Honeslty couldn't have made it quicker or easier . She was perfect, and then I had to order contacts they went out of their way to help me find the right amount, and i had nothing but laughs and a goodtime checking out. They helped me get everything out of my insurance, long story short 9 months of contacts i paid 93$ out of pocket . I even heard(cause i was blind) her giving an exam to a kid, and she was extremely patient with him. Showed and explained how things worked. I didn't plan on leaving such a long review cause I never have but i was just kinda blown away by the negativity in the reviews, Id higher any one of them at my business. Hope this informs somebody. First off , the $59 exam was $100 The $129 contacts were $151. Next issue, they send me a text that my contacts were ready. A few hours later they send me a message to disregard that message; computer sent everyone wrong message. A few hours later they send me a message that they were ready. Spent over an hour trying to get a hold of that store to see if they were in fact there. Store never answered phone, spent most of the time with automated phone and they couldn't confirm if store had contacts or they couldn't get store to answer. So, I drive the 30 minutes to store, only to find out they weren't there. Sophia, at store told me that it could be one to two weeks more. Service center said they were sent out 5 days prior, I am assuming the horse got sick. So, I ask for refund, Sophia said " it will be a corporate check and you will see it in 7-10 days " BS. 12 days later, ,I call to check status on refund and was told 15-30 days. I paid cash but have to wait a month to get it back! Do yourself a favor and don't use this totally inefficient company. Nothing is as advertised. I will order contacts online. Wished I looked at the review here before going to Stanton. It took 2+ weeks to get glasses for my son and myself. My contacts took 20 days from the eye exam to arrive. The staff itself is very nice and helpful. The building on Congress Ave is a bit run down looking inside. Neither one of our prescriptions fell into the "Two Pairs for $69" category so I spent a lot more money than originally planned. We didn't find out that our glasses would take two weeks to arrive until AFTER I had ordered and paid for everything. We made FIVE separate trips to complete this transaction. The computers were slow two times we were there. I waited about 10 minutes just to schedule a follow up visit for my contacts. The final straw for me was when we picked up my son's second pair of glasses (day 18 after exam). I asked if my contacts were ready. No, they weren't there yet but TWO hours later someone from Stanton called and said my contacts were in...I waited a day and a half to pick them up because I have other things to do besides hang out at Stanton. I would be remiss if I hadn't written a review about the Stanton group. After reading the many 1 star reviews of how Stanton customers would rather have their eye-teeth (forgive the pun) pulled rather than return to Stanton and because I'm a masochist I thought I'd go forth where few brave souls did and pay them an "office" call. Venturing in with anticipation of being the next lamb to the slaughter or having somebody pat me on the back to find a soft spot to drive the knife, I was pleasantly surprised with how friendly everybody was. The eye exam: My eye and medical history info was gathered by a sweet lady called Elizabeth - polite and meticulous. The eye exam was handled by Dr Phan who was a true PROFESSIONAL and explained in depth the overall synoptic history of my eyes. After dilating my eyes and returning for a second trip 20 minutes later, Dr Phan spent probably the lion's share of an hour with me as I have some complications with my eyes. Her graphs and charts in her explanations as to what was happening were priceless. The glasses: After Dr Phan, I wandered into the adjoining optical store and met "salesman" Michael. I asked him, point blank, that with all the black eyes (again, forgive me with the puns) that Stanton had received, have they finally got their "stuff" together. Michael looked at me quizzically and told me that he was the newly appointed General Manager at Stanton and that he was striving to turn the tide. I told Michael that I wanted, promo priced 2 for $69, two rectangular shaped frames (I showed him one of my old pairs) one for reading and the other for distance and he walked over to the display and grabbed two pairs - which were exactly what I wanted. No kidding. Really. I did tell Michael that I did have psoriasis and what were the lightest glasses that he carried and he introduced me to the Kishimoto - which really were a work of art. As these glasses were not part of the special deal and with the many negative reviews dancing in my head, I opted to get my no brainer 2 for $69 to allow Stanton a trial run in case the horror stories were true about the lenses and possibly your brains falling out. It's been almost a month now that I have been giving my two separate glasses a work out (had to wait 8 days to get them - Mandy and Charly were great in this department) and incredibly, the lenses are still within the frames and the glasses are excellent. I was going to return to Stanton, see Michael, and buy those Kishimoto (bifocal) but in the interim the one thing I have noticed is that my eyes are constantly changing. When the changes stop, I'll Kishimoto-splurge my eyes. All in all, mathematically, when you pay $45 for a brilliant eye exam and pay $12 each for two pairs of nice looking glasses, how can you screw up? I hit on all cylinders with the Stanton people. The Dr is very nice and so is her staff. I read the reviews and have to say i agree with many of them. I had a similar experience i sat down to get a quote from a sales person from this location Nadine, when I let her know I wouldn't be buying any contacts until next week she ripped up a pice of paper with information about our transaction and left me sitting there without knowing what was going on. I then got up and left, on my way out another sales person asked me why i wasn't getting anything, as i began to tell him what happened Nadine interrupted our conversation by making a snarky remark and rolling her eyes. read more

I bought and ordered a pair of glasses, out of pocket, and I received them a week later than the two weeks they initially told me. The left lens was warped and I went back and they ordered me a new pair and told me it would be in within 2-3 weeks. I called 2 weeks later and, after some confusion, they told me it was gonna be another week. I went in after a week and talked to them and they could not find my order and finally admitted that the order was not placed. My husband went to Stanton for a new RX and to get glasses. The eye exam seem to go well but when he went to pick up the new glasses and tried them on he couldn't see. His vision was blurred. So back they went and two weeks later the glasses are back and he still has blurred vision. Their explanation: his eyes need to get used to the new RX. Worst place to get glasses at. First to get an eye exam it took forever, then once we did that, we picked the glasses i wanted. I wanted to stay under $200 the whole time. We sat down with the gentlemen that was attending us "my friend by the way" and he starts punching numbers in... comes to me with a total of $936 dollars. i freak out and i start telling him that im not paying that, then he says let me see what i can do... comes back and says... i got it down to $655 for you... i stand up and took a picture of the frames that i liked and said, i came wanting to spend $200 dollars max. im leaving thank you... then he freaks out and says ok ok let me see if i can do some more discounts or something. At the end of the day i left that day, spent the $200 that I initially wanted to spend. Day comes to pick them up... i get one pair and the other is wrong color... then the guy "my friend starts to blame me, and also the manager goes to say that thats what i chose. point is... Please do not waste your time going here! Please!! I know they have great deals and promotions that they offer but there are plenty of other places that are worth your money. I stumbled upon a great groupon (which yes saved me money) but I would've rather spent all the money I saved at another place where the money would've been worth it. They PROMISE you that your glasses will be ready in 14 days. Try 25 days! I called every other day after the 14 day mark and they told me to just be patient. I am a very patient person so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they have a high volume of customers because of their local ads, coupon pricing, promotions, etc. but to be completely lied to every other day I called was the worst part. It gets better..... So finally when my glasses were ready to be picked up they gave me a call. I rushed over and tried my glasses on. To my surprise the prescription for my new glasses just seemed off. I was seeing blurry and they instantly gave me a headache. I kept telling the lady at the counter my problem and she just said "well I don't know what to tell you....maybe your eyes will adjust and maybe they won't" that's just poor customer service skills right there. The insurance that they advertise on their website is not true because they do not take my insurance. They automatically put the top-of-the-line features on your glasses and try to make you feel like it's mandatory. This was the best experience I have ever had shopping for glasses and eye exam with my son. The entire staff is extremely friendly, professional and helpful. The eye exam itself was state-of-the-art. They moved us via rolling chair from machine to machine that did it's thing then moved us to another room where we Skyped with a doctor. Very cool. Krishna the young lady who takes you through the whole thing is so sweet, knowledgeable and friendly that you are automatically at ease. Ben, the gentleman that greeted us on arrival was so helpful and attentive that he made us feel like we were his number one concern even as the store started to fill up. As I observed him, I saw that he gave this same level of customer service to everyone who entered the establishment. Everyone was immediately greeted and asked if they needed help as the arrived. Then I met Eva, she was so kind and adjusted both mine and my son's glasses that we came in with at no charge. We had both gone to get our glasses adjusted before and had no success in adjusting his and had limited success adjusting mine. I'm not sure what she did that was different but we walked out of there feeling like we had new glasses on because they finally fit properly. As I was leaving, I met their final team member working that morning, a gentleman named John. He appeared very friendly and professional like his co-workers. To top it all off, I saved a bundle off my new glasses. I saved so much money that I decided to treat my son to pizza on our way home. It was a great day. I have to give a special mention to Helen from this office. She is one of the greatest and extremely dedicated to what she does.
