Here is my experience at Stanton Optical in Peoria. My Oxygen glasses that cost $350+ broke because it slipped off the table. I bought this type of glasses because the salesperson said it is durable and fireproof. (What an awesome feature!) On the other hand, the $100 pair of glasses that I had from Thailand lasts more than 2 years. This one, not even 3 months. The first time I went back with this issue. The girl told me they didn't have the exact frame and couldn't get the exact same one any where. I would have to pick a new frame and pay 20% of the price. I didn't have time and didn't want to deal with it. So, I went home. The second time I went back, I was told the same thing. I told them I need a new frame but would like to keep my lenses because I do not want to pay anymore money. The girl literally took the lenses off my broken frame with her dirty hands. she took some frames and tried to fit the lenses in right in front of me. And, I was standing right there... wondering if this is how they do things around here? Finally, she found one that could fit. She showed me and I said that fine. She then again standing there and tried to fit the lenses in the frame herself. She struggled. So, she told me to wait. 5 minutes later, she came back and told me to try it on. I told her I had my contact lenses in and assuming that it's the same lenses. I didn't think I need to try it on. I paid $35 and went home. I tried the glasses on at home and my vision was way off. I looked through the lenses backward and the vision is clearer. I looked through the lenses up side down and the vision is clearer. On top of that, the lenses didn't fit the frame right. It could easier pop off the frame. The third time I went back, we talked to the manager. We explained the situation. I am not going to write down everything she said except she was defensive and unwilling to help. She said the reason why the vision is off is because the lenses don't fit the frame correctly. (Me: Is that my problem? Make them fit then!) So, the focus point is off. She offered a solution that she could make new lenses for us and it would cost only $36 more. I demanded that I'm not going to spend any more money at this place. She simply said "Then, there is nothing I can do for you." I asked for my old frame back and she said she sent it back to the corporate. I asked if she can make my old lenses fit the new frame, she said no. She said "You should have taken your contact lenses off and tried the glasses on before you bought the the new frame. The old lenses were tailored made and they will never fit perfectly to the new frame which could cause blurry vision." (Me: Would have been nice to know that before!) OK. I was not informed and was not aware that this could mess up my vision. Why didn't your employee educate me about this? They were just happy to take my money, got ride of me in 15 minutes and not caring about my blurry vision? The manager kept saying that I needed new lenses and There is nothing she can do about it. I asked if I can at least return the new frame and get my money back. Because, clearly I cannot wear them. She then again said no. I took my glasses back and told her, we and everyone we know will never come back here again. She said, OK. Suggestion to this store. Educate your staff, please! And maybe look for another manager with customer focus and who is aware that we live in the world of internet now and customer can write review. It is not just 1 or 2 sales that you lost here. If I had been kindly communicated to, paying extra $60 is not an issue. But the experience has been horrible and the fact that I have to waste my time so many times going to that store is frustrating. I just cannot understand why can't they find me the exact frame that I had before and How could the staff let me walk out the store knowing that there could be an issue with the new frame and my old lenses? read more

First off - I planned to go to Stanton because I don't have insurance and I figured the 2 for $69 is a great deal for some glasses! I as in need of a check up anyways :) So I go all excited and tell them I want the 2 for $69 and they're excited to help me... I get my exam and the doctor gave me a new pair of contacts to try (wonderful, right?!)... then when I go to look for glasses I "can't use the promotion because my astigmatism and eye sight is too bad to fit into the promotion"... im sorry what???? I didn't realize astigmatism's affected eyeglasses... Anyways I believed what they said and went on. They gave me 50% off my frames & lenses, but NOT the coating. So I picked some glasses out. UPon going home and reading the FINE PRINT I realize that yes, there is a strength limit for the promotion but its +/- 4.0... My prescription is -3.75...and the fine print said NOTHING about an astigmatism. Onto the contacts. So I said I liked the ones I had in but would like my prescription to order them on my own. "We'll give you a 20% off discount, managers special." Ok thanks.... I asked if they price matched. She said yes absolutely but ill give you a discount ontop of the 20% so you don't have to do that. Upon receiving my bill I realized I never got an additional discount. I was also charged for a warranty for my glasses I was never asked if I wanted or not. I found contacts for MORE THAN HALF OFF (price matched) and took in the sheet when I picked up my glasses. "We cant price match after you pay." I was NEVER told this and NEVER given the option to sit at the store and price match... I asked them to cancel my contact order. Response? "We can't, it's a healthcare supply." I work in healthcare, cancel my damn order. I talked to the manager and she said she would have the tech call me the next day. I asked her if she was the manger why she can't help me? She should be able to to everything... She kept emphasizing the tech will call me tomorrow. It's as if she didn't want to deal with it. I will admit i was getting nasty because $400 later, they cared about nothing and didn't want to fix ANYTHING. The manager should have better customer skills than to get nasty back at me... The doctor and tech were wonderful. They were very polite and were very caring. When I told the ladies in the front I wasn't purchasing glasses through them and only needed a copy of my prescription things went south. One shot me attitude and asked why I wasn't purchasing glasses with them. It's actually none of her business but I let her know I was purchasing them through Warby Parker. She dismissed me with a dirty look and asked for someone else to ring my up for "just an exam" as if what I was in for wasn't important. I think she was just mad she wasn't going to be making commission off of me. Like I said, tech Holly and Doctor Kyle were wonderful and caring..the women who are involved with frames could use an attitude adjustment, a lesson in customer service and perhaps a shower because I wouldn't let any of them touch me anyways. read more

I have gotten my first pair of progressive tri focal glasses in the last year from another eye doctor and have struggled to get used to them due to the placement of the different prescriptions on the lens - I had to literally look down slightly when driving in order to see down the road properly. I described my issue to the associates at Stanton and they adjusted my new safety glasses accordingly. My glasses were so bad I've been wearing an old out dated single vision pair just to get by. I picked up my new safety glasses from Stanton optical yesterday and I have been wearing them exclusively as they are perfect for my combination prescription and I no longer have to look down to see long instances properly. I really appreciate the great care these guys took in fixing my issue and making my glasses exactly how I needed them. All of the staff has been very helpful and very professional and nice. My salesman had even called me after my initial fitting to tell me he figured out how to make my safety glasses into progressive lenses as he initially thought wasn't doable and made the change at no additional cost to me. I have read some negative Yelp reviews, but please do yourself a favor and give them a chance to prove that they go over and above. This place is the WORST ever, after having gone there to get new Glasses, when I went to pick them up they were not right at all, and had to be sent back to be redone, prior to that I also took my husband there to get new glasses as well and when his came in they too were not correct ! The sales person was so rude.........I'm sorry but vision is VERY important so if your glasses are not right then why would I/we not speak up and say something? Rather then have to wait another 2 weeks to have them remade, my husband said he would prefer just to have a refund, after that the treatment was even worse............do yourself a huge favor and go elsewhere!! I tried Stanton for the first time the staff is nice, however they cost and tell you that they want to find another job that they're not happy there they tell you their life story as they're helping you. If you have any sort of issue they cannot help you. The doctor that did my exam gave me the wrong prescription. I bought 3 pairs of glasses as soon as I pick my glasses up I told them are too strong they said it takes a little to get used to. I went back the doctor reexamined me and told me that they were too strong but I probably could get used to him he told me to try it out if I couldn't get used to him to bring them back and they would re make them. When I came back because I couldn't get used to them no notes were in my file and it has been too long only a couple weeks so I asked for the district manager to call me no one's ever called so I've been dealing with one pair of the glasses out of the three that I can actually stand wear. Now on top of everything else they're falling apart lost a screw on the side took them back in to get the screw replaced and they don't have the screw so I either have to pay 20% of what the frame cost to get a screw fixed ridiculous! I actually have never seen such bad customer service I am a district manager of a retail business, and I take care of my customers Stanton does not. Plus the doctor obviously don't know how to make someone's glasses the right prescription. I will never spend another Penny here my husband actually is ready to get glasses we were going to originally come here we will not and I will tell everyone not to come here that I know. I would not recommend Stanton to anyone! I spent $400 in here and now have to go somewhere else to get a pair of glasses I can actually use and they didn't even use my insurance. read more

Who and where is a doctor? Scheduled my daughter an appointment for new glasses and contacts RX. Waited over 45 min until we were shown to an "exam room". There was no Optometrist in the building! It was a video exam where the female "doctor" could be seen on a tv monitor and could remotely change the lenses to preform an "exam". There was no warning that this would be a virtual exam... I then requested just to be given the RX so we could leave, that took another 30 min. We went to order contacts at Sams and noticed the RX was signed by a male and she was "examined" by a female. RX was also for a brand of contacts my daughter has never tried. We requested a specific brand. I called back and was told the doctor was in another city and would take a day or two. Eye exam went very well and everything else has been not even close to satisfying. It took 90 minutes for the lady to finalize my lens order. This was 90 minutes at her desk. I had the frames already picked out ad the eye exam was over. She was busy attempting to help customers coming in the door as well as helping me. She was busy answering the phone. She was busy making appointments for others. It was like my business was not real important to them. When I went to pick up my glasses two days after they were promised, they were not ready. The told me they would be ready in 15 minutes, I waited 20 minutes and they came out and told me the lens machine broke. Was that true or did they break my lenses? Anyway I left without glasses and have been waiting for a phone call to let me know when they were ready......no call yet.... nearly 72 hours....I'm still waiting. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS PLACE FOR ANYTHING!! I went there for Eye Exam and was told that I needed bi-focals-picked out the frames and paid for it in full!! We told the sales clerk that we would be moving in a couple of weeks and was told that it would not be a problem that they would ship to us. Moved-called to give new address-got a automated phone call that the glasses were in-so i called the store and said that they would be shipped that day or the next. Got another automated phone call (different day)called back to the store was told that since i did not pay for the shipping at time of purchase that she would have to get it approved (only $8.00 for shipping-we asked if there was a charge for shipping since we knew would be moving) KRISTY (the manager) would be shipping them out that day-got another automated phone call (different day) called back to the store and said that they would go out monday-my fiance called her back and was upset that i kept being told how these would be shipped and nothing has happened-she got very rude once again with him and hung up on him. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS! IF I EVER RECEIVE THESE GLASSES WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS LOCATION OR ANY OTHER LOCATION FOR STANTON OPTICAL. I initially was going to focus on how bad my actual glasses were, how it took months to even receive them and how rude an employee was to me during those months but after my "customer service" treatment today I thought I would share that instead. Since I am due a refund and since I am having health issues, I was told by corporate (after posting a negative review) that I could MAIL them in for my refund. 3 weeks ago I mailed my glasses in as instructed by corporate. The USPS told me that they were delivered 3 days after I mailed them. In the past three weeks I have left 3 messages with NO RETURN call. I pleaded for anyone to please call me back. Today I called again and got Matt (who in the past has been pleasant) and he told me that I HAD to come into the store to run my Mastercard for a refund. Then he goes on and on about how Stanton is a retailer just like Wal-Mart so I would have to come in. Once I drove all the way to Peoria, Matt NEVER ran my card. Instead he PHONED corporate for help since he told me Mastercard never works for refunds. Now I have never had another retailer work like this! When I told Matt that he never had to run my card and that he himself PHONED it in and that there was no reason for me to drive all the way here, he said, "well we didn't know'. Didn't know what? You knew I paid with a Mastercard, which evidently doesn't work at your store. I still don't have my refund as they now have to "work on it". I have wasted so much money and time on multiple trips to the store, phone calls, and postage. SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF TROUBLE. DON'T GO HERE!! read more

I took our exchange student to Stanton Optical on Glen in Peoria, IL yesterday for her an eye exam for school. It was the worst experience EVER! Our appointment was at 12:45. We arrived at 12:49, my bad. I had picked her up at noon and had to get lunch in between. Anyway, when we walked in they asked if they could help us. I said we have an appointment. They said, "She HAD an appointment. You're late!" I was taken aback a bit. I said, "I'm sorry, are we late?" They said, "Yes, five minutes! You're cutting into lunch hours!" I told them, "And thanks for the nice welcome. I've never been here before." Wow. I couldn't believe this! So I apologized and the Dr. was so rude, as were the receptionists. They asked if we wanted to reschedule?!?! I said, "Uh, no. We're here??" Eventually I told them to cancel the appointment because I wasn't going to support a company who had such poor customer service. And I also told them I would be sharing my experience. What happened to me is sort of long and drawn out. Trying to make it short, on Sat the 26th, I was left with only prescription sunglasses, thinking I had no insurance benefits to use until Mon. July 28. I had my own frames, needing only Stanton Optical to put in single vision lenses, and of course to then adjust my frames. I only chose Stanton because they had a working lab. I was waited on by a very nice female, whose name I did not get. I went through the whole "what happened", she gave me a 'Stanton Optical Insurance Verification Form', telling me where to fill it out, and even circling where I should sign the form. Imagine my, my disgust, when I called Eye Med on Tues, who put me on hold and called Stanton. My disgust because Drew? who's Drew? told her I NEVER told them I had insurance. If I had told them, they would have made a copy, and would have ran it through Monday! No. Just no. If I can choose 1 pet peeve....people who are not honest! Just no. Eye Med says it's not worth it to send it in. When they do it this way, insurance hardly pays you back! And no, my glasses weren't adjusted to my face, my ears. My ears aren't level, are yours? I've also never been charged per lens. I wasn't asked if I wanted the 2 yr warranty, she just charged me for it. I get new lenses every yr, I've never scratched a lens in my life. Just, just, no. Went to Stanton for the first time 2 weeks ago. I was not informed before hand about the virtual eye exam (Dr. on T.V. screen) and when ordering glasses I was NEVER offered a sheet showing the different prices of lenses!!! I ended up getting my husbands glasses and did not get mine because their price (with my insurance) was almost $300!! Took over 2 weeks to get the his glasses and they put transition lenses in his sunglasses which we specifically stated MULTIPLE times he did not want. When I confronted them about not receiving a break down of their prices and that I will be going elsewhere for my glasses I was given my prescription, another receipt (which does NOT show a break down of material costs) and that was that. No apology, no "we will take care of this inconvenience" NOTHING!!! Oh and by the way, it was the manager I was dealing with. Stay FAR away from there!!! I bought a pair of glasses in July of 2012 they have a stress crack in one lens and the other lens has a manufacturing defect. This is what Illinois Eye Center told me. They told me if I had bought them from Illinois Eye Center they would have taken care of the lenses. Stanton optical wants me to pay $45 for new lenses. In a pair of glasses that are less than a year old. The only reason it would be $45 instead of full price is because I purchase the protection plan. I would think they would stand behind their glasses better than that since it is a manufacturing defect. read more

Zero stars - Ordering only lens (no frame, no eye exam).First price quoted $465..When I balked, came down to $365; balk again price came to $250. This happened in less than 5 minutes. The service was excellent. I was able to schedule an eye exam that fit into my schedule, which ending up being a pleasant experience. A very knowledgeable (and extremely friendly) representative assisted me in finding the frames that worked the best--for me. This place is a joke.. I already had tons of issues with my husband's glasses which required me to go back multiple times. I already complained to the BBB and I got a $100 credit so I decided to give them a second chance. Wrong idea. Went to purchase glasses and the staff is very nice but when we picked up the glasses we already had to send a pair back to get fixed and the second pair the next day realized they didn't have anti glare on one lenses. Went in to complain and the manager got all pissy and didn't even apologize for the issue just said they would get it fixed. So basically we gave them a second chance and they royally screwed it up which I am not surprised. So once we get our glasses finished and back we will NEVER step foot in a Stanton Optical. read more

So my husband and I both got two pairs of glasses each at this establishment this past spring. He got his two pair no problem, I got one pair and the other didn't pass inspection from the labs so got it got delayed. Sure no problem, I got my one pair and the next week got my second. How it passed inspection the second time but the first I'm not sure because part of the plastic that secures the frame was sticking out but my husband fixed it so no problem. Last month my husband and I both had issues with scratches on our lenses so he dropped them off to be fixed and paid for them. He got his back about two weeks later but mine didn't pass quality control or whatever in the lab so they're still at the lab. Our promise date was November 23rd, it is now December 16th and the only thing anyone can tell me is they're in the lab and keep failing quality control. There have been tickets put in and were supposed to contact us but have heard nothing except for when we stop by the store and ask in person. No one can tell me when I will get them, they did refund me what we paid for my pair of glasses. Yes the scratches are my fault, they fell on the floor but why is it that no one can tell me why I haven't gotten my glasses back other than they aren't passing quality control or a guesstimate of when I will for real get them?! I'm assuming I won't ever get them back, at this point, and we have decided that neither of us will be coming back for business here again. My other pair need to be fixed as well but I need glasses to function. read more

Yesterday, I walked into Stanton, about 20 minutes before their closing time, Of course, I didn't think anyone would pay any attention to me; after all, they're getting ready to close, right? However, Amira came over, and asked if she could help; she directed me to the sunglasses, which is what I was looking for. She answered my questions, and assisted me in selecting a great pair of frames.is a wonderful customer service person. A couple years ago, when this business first opened, no one said anything to me, as I walked around looking. Thank goodness, Amira changed my long-held perception about this business. I was planning to just say, "I'm looking around, and have a few more places to check out. Her demeanor, professionalism and helpfulness convinced to forego another payment on my Discover card, and pay for my purchase, last night. Can hardly wait to get the finished product. There are no words strong enough to express my disgust from this provider. It is not a place you want to get your eye care from, trust me. I got my perscription from Staton in August of 2013 and was planning to purchase glasses. I had an Eyemed vision insurance. I spoke with Silvia, she told me I could use it for the exam and not for the glasses... the exam is supposed to be free...FINE okay, lets continue to purchase the glasses... I am 61 years old, I do not think i'm senile yet, but apparently Silvia did. She tried to take advantage of me and my money. She picked out some frames for me, I saw the price tag. 79$ for one and 119$ for the other. I thought both prices were reasonable, until she priced me out. She said that the 119$ frame came up as 189$ in the system and that my polycarbonate lenses needed extra UV protection. Unacceptable. Poly is known for having UV protection built in. She wanted me to add it on. I eventually left, taking my perscription else where. I have never went to an establishment and was told to pay MORE than the price on the tag. Most of the workers were outside smoking and the girl who helped me, silvia, was on her phone and snacking on gummy bears. Very unprofessional. read more

First of all if I could give 0 stars I would. I bought glasses in here back in June of 2012 it took them two times to get my glasses right. After having to switch my frames to a cheaper frame I thought they should give me the difference in the frames. I called corporate they gave me a $75 credit and after I got the reduce glare coating I found out it's a very soft material and your glasses will scratch. so they took that off of my glasses and gave me a 24.95 credit. so I had $100 credit setting and it Stanton opticalin so when I needed a new pair of glasses this spring I went back to them only because I had the credit. they have made my glasses three times and they are not right so they offered to refund my money. But would not refund my credit or put my credit back on my account so I could get my glasses fixed so I called corporate and talked with the regional manager and he would not do anything about it either he also told me that I went in there raising my voice and yelling at the people and had an attitude I had never went in there with my voice raised or anything I was as nice as I could be to them. So be aware when you go in because if they can't make your glasses right for you they make up lies about you. I know I have four people that have told me that I should stay clear of Stanton opticalin there are a lot of other places out there that will match their prices so don't be worried about thatI please do your research don't be like me and be out there since February trying to get a pair of glasses. read more

EEEEEEEK! I can't believe this place is in business!! Completely unprofessional and scary! Not a place you want to get your vision care from. If the employees aren't outside smoking, they are inside texting on their phone. I had a terrible experience with a shorter girl I think her name was Silvia or Selina. Anyway, I presented her (After I hunted her down while she was eating chocolate doughnuts under a desk!) with two frames that were 59$ each, as I have recently lost my job and cannot afford the designer frames. She wrote up the entire order and I noticed that the price seemed very high. Both of my frames said 59$. When I asked her why it was high, she told me that the frames came up as 179$ in the system and that was what I needed to pay!! WHAT THE WHAT! These were the brand "MODERN." I don't know if you know but Modern is the brand that public aid uses as their free glasses. She insisted that she didn't know how to change the price back to 59 and that I would need to pay the 179 for my "sturdy" glasses. Those were pieces of ISH!! I called several times to get in contact with a manager and no such luck. she is always "out." I never purchased the glasses because I could smell the BS. I went to a competitor and paid an arm and a leg but recieved a good quality product and the optician was up front and honest. read more

I must say that it is hard these days to find a respectable place with reasonable prices, I have 4 girls and younger. Stanton Optical turned out to be the place we were looking for, the staff were polite and seemed to be able to answer all questions we had. All my girls had no problems, I feel the staff did very well with them and they seemed to be really comfortable together. The store was very clean with a comfortable environment, which is very important with parents having children, especially 4 of them. The selection of eye ware was well organized with many style and colors to choose from. All companies have room for improvement but for a first visit, I can honestly say this family will be returning. With 4 children I would much rather having a more local store but the staff made the trip much more worth it. When I went in (have been twice) for "new" glasses the customer service was "great". However if you have problems and have to have a pair redone-at Stanton's expense the service was very different-it has taken about a month to get my glasses back-Two different excuses one time they got broken and the other time they had to send to Chicago for the protective coating. I just called them to check on them and they were there-but I received no calls that they were ready for pick up. I may try them again and I may not-haven't made up my mind yet. The reason for the redo was because the lens kept falling out-it was not cut properly for the frame it appeared. I had taken them in to be fixed 5 times prior to them offering to send them back for the redo. Other than that problem the staff is very friendly and my glasses have been correct everytime. This redo is enough reason to not suggest them however if it takes that long to receive glasses read more
