Chose this place because it was a convenient location to my area. I was off work on a Monday and called them at 9 AM when they opened. After waiting until 11 am appointment, another 40 minutes in the store for an eye exam and 30 minutes after picking a pair of frames. This is my first pair of glasses, and after paying for the rest of what my insurance wouldn't cover, I walked out for about $120 for frames and lenses. They didn't have my glasses in stock so we were told 7-10 days. Today was day 10, and I had not heard from anyone yet so I called. Only to be told it would be another 7 days. They were able to expedite the order, but overall I was not impressed and will not be returning. read more

I've been going to this place for almost 2-3 yrs now, to do my glasses. I always get the upmost help from the people that work there. But I've seem to always run into 1 person that been working their since I've been coming. Amenah is her name. She is outstanding. She always tries to go above and beyond for me. I came in the other day to renew my glasses/prescription, and she helped me out a lot, and at one point I found out that the lens I have were not going to be around for another 2 weeks and I have to leave for a vacation, and she offered to see if other places might have it, to get it sooner. I declined her helped but it was really nice of her to ask. 10/10 Customer service and the prices are all there and laid in front of you. Easy, fast and affordable. Shoutout to Dr. Rosa, Destinee, and Jonathan. They made what could have been a nightmare into a great situation and a good deal for me. I needed to renew my prescription for my contacts quickly. I was linked by my insurance providers website to Stanton Optical's website during a late night search . I hastily made a next day appointment for 11:30 am in hopes to get in and out and contacts on order. In the morning before heading out, I called to confirm my appointment just because it was last minute. It showed up in their system and I headed on over. When I arrived someone else was already being helped but I was greeted in a short time by Destinee who has a bubbly and fun personality. I was handed off to Jonathan who was not only friendly but quick and efficient in checking me in. All of the patient check ins are done on the iPad which was convenient and allowed the staff to engage fully with anyone else in the store while cutting down on paper waste. Dr. Rosa is one cool dude and I was sad to learn that he is retired as I would love to have him as a regular eye doctor. Concluding the eye exam with prescription in hand, I approached the counter to pay. My heart dropped when I learned that Stanton Optical did not accept my insurance. Usually whenever I have my yearly eye exam I always make sure to ask but I was in such a hurry with my busy schedule that I completely forgot to confirm. I explained my situation to Destinee and she completely understood. She worked out a discount with me and was able to provide me with paperwork to give to my insurance for a possible out of network reimbursement. The simple fact that they were so understanding and treated me like a human will keep me going back even though they are not an in network provider. There was no sales pressure felt at all yet I was given options to add on additional without feeling like they wanted my money. I will 100% continue to order my contacts through them rather than another company and when I'm due for frames, I'll for sure be coming back. If I could give 0 stars I would! I have had pretty good experiences in the past but today was the worst experience I've ever had. I normally don't post negative reviews because I understand things happen but this is a warning to not go there. I called and made an appointment, verifying with the phone operator that I had a vision member free eye exam. I also verified that they did price matches for contacts. When I arrived to my appointment I verified with the receptionist as well both about my appointment time and the price Match. After arriving early to my appointment and still not being called in at my appointment time, they let a walk in go ahead of me. I was finally seen almost 30 minutes after my appointment time. After my appointment they tried 2 more times to charge me the full price of the exam. I wanted to buy contacts with a price match and they offered me a deal on the glasses. After waiting to be helped and then working with the gentleman to get my contacts ordered, he then told me I could not price match and have the free eye exam I could only choose one. I then decided not to purchase either glasses or contacts because of the service and the ability to get these things online for way cheaper. After the gentleman realized I was not going to fall for the up-sale tactics, he was extremely rude and did not even acknowledge me until I asked him if it was okay to leave. I've never had this happen to me the past 3 years I've been going here but I was shocked. Don't waste your money here, you can buy the same contacts or glasses online for way cheaper. read more

dropped some designer frames and sunglass frames off for new lenses. my glasses were done in about 2 weeks (kinda a long time in my opinion) but my sunglasses took 2 months. got them back with some big ass lenses that were so fat they spilled put over the sides! was told that for $80 more i could have thinner lenses that fit the frames correctly. not sure why that bit of info wasn't shared with me from the get go. they gave me half off cause i was kinda miffed. then i waited and waited and waited some more. i finally just picked them up and someone had shaved the lenses down. 2 weeks after that my thinner lenses were there and they swapped them out. they refunded me the cost of the thinner lenses which i appreciate. read more

This place is a joke. First off.... Their glasses are garbage, and they want you to pay a fortune for them. If you do decide to buy from these idiots, be aware that your glasses WILL break (two different pair broke twice while literally walking). And you will be expected to pay 20% of whatever "New" pair of glasses you want. Oh... That's IF you have the warranty they sold you when you first purchased. Place is a scam. This place is terrible, and honestly I'm astonished it's still in business with so many better choices in the area. The 5 star reviews have to be fake. I've talked to several people in the Santee area that went here & 100% of them had a bad experience with same issues. High pressure sales with Bait & Switch tactics. I went for contacts. Several times they tried to pressure me into glasses. Then final after my eye exam the doctor tries to pressure me into a different brand of contacts. To the point I had to look at her & say "NoOoooo" Like you would a toddler. I then paid for the contacts I ordered & They said they would call me when they were in. 3 days later I called & asked. They said they didn't see anything was in yet. A week later I went back into the Santee branch & spoke to one of the managers asking why it was taking so long & why nobody was letting me know what we going on. The manager finally told me that it appears the contacts were never ordered, but he would order them now. It took them another 2 weeks to get them in. What a ripoff. First they schedule you for an appointment and when you arrive on time they tell. You it will be 45 minutes plus before you can have your eye exam. While I wait I look at frames and suddenly discover that the glasses they are offering at 2 for $69.00 are a small percentage of the stock. The old bait and switch. Everywhere you look you see signs 2 pairs of glasses and eye exam $69.00. As it turns out you can get a pair for maybe a 149.00 and the other for an additional cost plus cost of lenses which bring it over 200.00. Again what a RIPOFF!!!! read more

Just got done with my eye exam and at first was hesitant to go there because I've always gone to Costco. So since they had an opening that day for an eye exam, I was going to go there and get my eye exam prescription and than go to Costco to get my frame & lenses, which I did. They than told me as I'm waking out the door of Stanton Optical that they would still honor a great and I mean great price after knowing I was going to get my frames elsewhere. I came back and was greeted by George which was incredible and then Nick which made sure I had the help I needed. George also went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and didn't push me like I first thought this place was like. He even told me to go home and think about it. I am new to wearing glasses, so when my husband and I went in for the first time to order glasses, it was exciting. The manager was helpful and I have no complaints about my experience. However, when I went to pick up the glasses, they were not the ones I ordered. They were a completely different frame color (yellow, I ordered pink). To say the least, I was really, really upset. When I returned to the store to complain, I was prepared to never return to Stanton Optical. I was annoyed at the blatant mistake. Yet, after working with Daisy, one of the employees, I felt she was sincere, authentic, and apologetic. I left Stanton Optical thinking that I would never return, and I ended up purchasing another pair of glasses. I am not a schmuck and was not leered in by marketing strategies. OKAY ! let me just start out by saying I'm definitely not a person who helps. But with what I experienced at Stanton optical was above and beyond the call of service and professionalism. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by destinee with two E's, and after walking over to the walls of many options of glasses. Patricia came by and greeted herself to me and checked me in. Within minutes I was seen and had my exam, after that she assisted me throughout my entire process. She was truly amazing and destinee was beyond funny and such a great example of a boss. Patricia was very knowledgeable when it came down to business! I swear I was like there over two hours and she assisted me and many others but always came back every few min and made sure I was completely comfortable. Man I can go on , but my overall experience was Phenomenal. I have found my new optometrist place . I have two vision insurances and came here to see if I had coverage for a contacts exam through my work's insurance because the optical shop on base charges quite a bit more and Tricare prime doesn't cover contact lens exams. Anyhow. I don't have contacts exam coverage but it worked out. And I came here only with the intent of getting an exam to renew my glasses and contacts Rx. I have purchased my supply prior expiration just in case I couldn't get an appointment in due time. The optometrist was great. The interactions surrounding my entire visit, however, were a bit confusing and, well, I'm one to ask a ton of questions so that I know exactly what service I am receiving and the cost I am paying. Now this is pretty much a one stop optical shop. I get it. So after you come out of exam, it's only natural that they believe everyone's intent is to purchase glasses/contacts. While they have great deals to offer (almost too good to pass up), it really took persistence to let them know I am currently not here to purchase at the moment. And on their end, were persistent in hoping I follow through with the deal... which I understand more than anything as I too worked in optical sales before. Chris was kind enough to let the offer stand with a discount card for a few more days and the option to transfer it over to my husband. Also. Don't forget to get a paper copy of your prescription. I got all lost in the sales pitches that I almost forgot to ask for my records... and well, they sent me back and forth between other staff before I received my copy. Lol. read more

Well, I had an unexpected visit to Stanton Optical today. My daily frames were on the brink of falling apart, and after reading some reviews, I decided to stop in. I was greeted right away, and after explaining my situation, the staff member immediately began assisting me in the search to find frames that were close to what I had, since I loved them so much. I actually ended up getting one of the pairs she picked, along with one other pair. With that being said, the 2 pairs for $70 is NOT for anything in the store, that only applies to their value frame section, which I was not interested in. We ended up going over the packages, and I got both pairs with premium lenses and a warranty for less than what I paid at Walmart, which was my former go to. Knowing that I would have a pair ready the same day was fantastic. They were able to squeeze me in for an exam, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you make an appointment, because it was getting busy fast. They accepted my insurance, so my exam was covered completely, no hassle. The optometrist was very kind, and took the time to understand and hear out my questions and concerns. The tech who did my pretesting was very sweet and energetic! And finally, there's Jerry, my "frame specialist". What an awesome guy! He made sure to explain every step of the process, and broke down all of the charges for me, so it was easy to understand. He gave his opinion on different frames I tried, which was helpful since I am indecisive. He seemed genuinely interested in me a person, not just a customer, a rarity in many places like this. Contrary to other reviews, I was not pressured into any upgrades at all, and was just given a nice breakdown of all the packages, and then I picked one that fit my needs. The environment was very low pressure! I am super thankful I stepped into this place, and I will %1000 give them my future business, and recommend them to everyone I know! read more

I'll admit, this was the last place I would go to get glasses and or contacts for some reason. I guess it wasn't reputable enough for me at first. I visited the Santee store. However, I was proved wrong. The employees are very professional and attentive. They are friendly and know what they're doing. The few times I went in there to get a contact lens refill and to order glasses I was given exceptional service each time by the same gal. I wish I knew her name. Hopefully her name will be in the system because I really want to give her credit for her professionalism and for taking care of me basically. Also, I noticed the employees helping each other out and working as a team. I thought that was very impressive. So yes I would highly recommend this place. The only downfall for me is that I had to wait a few days to get my contact lenses. I thought they would have them in stock. However, they were able to give me a trial pair to hold me over. I've been going here for the last couple of years and you think I would have learned my lesson because there is always some type of issue. The staff is kind which is the only reason I return but none the less there is always an issue. ie: late/delayed order effecting my wedding, lack of communication, and in this case stating that they believe my insurance to be in network but then not actually verifying the insurance and then hitting you with the bill at the end. I expressed they told me I would be good and the clerk stated she would give me a minimal discount for my troubles. So freaking disappointed, sincerely wont be returning following this situation. 3 strikes you're out! As for the promo of 2 pairs of glasses for $59 and your exam is included, that's a joke at best. They're catfishing people by claiming to be one thing and then in all actuality there is nothing of the sort. They dont even have a pair of glasses less than $99 on their wall. read more

I havent had an ye exam since 2012 so I was a little apprehensive about making an appointment but Stanton Optical is the place for me!technically advanced, I was able to be seen at my appointment time in a very timely manner. Went here for my free eye exam. Was immediately welcomed by Marc who did my initial exams. The eye doctor herself was amazing and taught me more about my eyes than ever before ( I've been going to eye doctors for about 20 years ). Also, a special thanks to Demetrius for helping me find frames AND sunglasses at a price that fits my budget. So thankful for Stanton optical and their wonderful team here in Santee!
