Ordered online for a 7:30p pick up, at 7:15p was told it hadn't started, at closing they called and said there was one corrupt file (of 90 different files), went in the next morning and was told they just could not figure out how to download files from their server. They asked me to load files to a usb drive which I did and brought in but they then couldn't open each folder to print. After 2 hours of ineptitude have requested a refund. Warning: Unclear if the bait and switch sales technique is limited to this Staples or others. But I am ticked off - big time. Here's what happened: Went online and found a good deal on a laptop ($600) at Staples in Brunswick, ME. Spoke on phone with salesperson (Sammy?) who said essentially - no need to buy online - come on down. "We have nine in stock. We won't run out." He also mentioned and in-store discount that would shave off another $40 from laptop cost. This was by far the best in-store deal I could find anywhere in Maine. The next morning, I drive 30 minutes to store and talk with a salesperson (Sammy?). The laptops on display were much more expensive. I asked about the HP laptop ($600) advertised online and the 9 in stock. The salesperson looked at me confused. "I don't know what you are talking about?" He made me feel like an idiot stating these things when I told him I was confused: #Are you sure you are at the right store? #These are the only laptops we have - period? #Our inventory is going extremely fast #We can't keep these laptops in stock. #They are selling as fast as we can stock them. #There is a global shortage of laptops because of the pandemic #Your best bet is to buy what we have here on display #I have no clue what you are talking about when it comes to this $600 laptop #Maybe you are confused? #I think you are confused I thought I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone. I told him I was not crazy and the store was correct. He then says, lets take a look at the computer to see what we have in stock here at the store. For some reason he pulls up Staples.com and shows me all the different laptops I can order and pick up at the store. He reminds me of delays in shipping and tight inventory - suggesting I buy retail NOW. I get a bit irked at the high-pressure and bait-and-switch sales tactics. He picks up on my disappointment and anger - and looks me straight in the eyes with a BIG FAKE SMILE and says "Thank you sir. Have a nice day." and walks abruptly away. I know I'm not crazy. I went back home and went to Staples.com and bought the dam "elusive" laptop from the SAME Staples (don't ask me why) for the $600 price advertised online. When I went to pick up the laptop - Sammy or Danny was nowhere to be found..... The only reason I gave Staples my money was because it was a good laptop and a good price - and I needed it same day. The Staples in Brunswick, ME did not deserve my business. They will never get it a second time. Question - is this bait-and-switch BS only an issue at this Staples? I hope! read more

I was told my printing job would be done between 4:30-5pm today. I went to pick it up and it hadn't even been started. No phone call to let me know it probably wouldn't be done today never mind at 5:00. I figure my time is valuable too and I missed a visit with a friend to get to Staples. Also, it was like pulling teeth trying to get a price out of the clerk. Unpleasant experience all around. read more

I cannot tell you how many times I have watched customers be rude to the employees and the employees calmly responding-- especially in the print/copy shop. Everyone is on a deadline, I get that, but these folks have so many different responsibilities and a lot of the jobs they get, customers in the store cannot see. As a regular customer who does a lot of my deadline work at the store, I have seen my share of people who have no idea how to use a copy machine, how to scan something, and it makes them nervous. Yet, the employees take the time to show them how, explain the return/registration/other bureaucratic system, and send them away smiling. Whether it's buying printer cartridges or getting a photo printed, the employees at the store are great. And they do not get paid nearly enough for the expertise they have to have. I hope Staples realizes that the Brunswick store is the best I've found in Maine-- competent, professional employees who care. read more

I have shopped Staples for various items u can't find in some local department stores. I am a frequent flyer of the printing services! I design my posters, flyers, table markers etc every year for an event we host at Hilton in Auburn! The folks at printing services are awesome, friendly, very helpful, will offer thier assistance to help improve the quality of my design for printing. I have never had a bad experience here. I often miss coupons etc and they are very good to let me know and process with my order! Thank you Brunswick Staples and your staff! This location is easy to find and they are perfect for small print jobs I have (like for a printable for my son's class or craft projects I'm working on). Once I had little cards printed out for treats to stick in to and they turned out too flimsy. When I returned to show them, they redid the job for me on a heavier stock and they did it right away! The new card stock was much better and the project turned out great! Another time I needed stickers printed because it was turning out wrong and I brought in my own sticker paper. The clerk helped me understand why I was having trouble - I bought the ink jet paper and I have a laser printer! (rookie mistake) Anyway, she showed me to the sticker paper they had in store and I was able to buy it and get the job printed before I left. Aside from print jobs, I think the most valuable service they have is that they can process USPS shipments (& UPS) in store! I LOVE that! It's closer to me than the post office, and typically MUCH faster! Plus parking is easy compared to the down town post office! I definitely use Staples more now than I ever have before! read more

I am a regular customer of the Brunswick Staples for office and other supplies as well as the print shop and have been very happy with them.

What a frustrating experience. Stopped in to scan pages to pdf--should have been an easy job, just putting the pages in the bin and hitting "scan." Then we learned that Staples charges $1/page for simple scanning to pdf, and it is still .53 for self serve. Unbelievable. Had we just been using self-serve copying, it would have been just .17/page; somehow *not* using paper or toner costs 3x as much. I would have been willing to pay the .17 for the convenience but cannot bring myself to pay so much more for so much less. We downloaded Scanbot for $3.99 and will do it ourselves. A curve, for sure, when we didn't need one, but that pricing is out of step with the alternatives available today. read more

Worst customer service ever. Came in early on a Saturday to mail a UPS package. One guy behind the shipping counter. Took forever. He worked on one customer for like 15 minutes laminating stuff. Could have helped more than one customer at a time. Too serial a process. read more

We normally love Staples - but be warned, this is not like any other Staples we have used. We ordered business cards today using their "Instant" print option which says they will be ready in 4 hours. When we arrived I was told they don't do anything under 24 hour turn around. The clerk was rude and bitter. We will be ordering our next set of copy products from Windham or Portland where the service always exceeds our expectations and customer service is great. read more

I'm rating not the store but their Rewards Program for recycling ink cartridges. I have been recycling ink cartridges for a few years now. Last April Staples went from mailing you the coupon for recycling to posting it on-line. Somehow I missed that information. Last night I was in this store and the clerk checked my email address because I hadn't received any coupons. Come to find out that my email address had been entered incorrectly so that for these past 7 months all the cartridges that I had recycled had been credited to a non-existent email (how many end in .comq?? com'on, really?). The store manager apologized and gave me credit for the max this month but for all of you who haven't checked, make sure your email address has been entered accurately.
