I'm pretty disappointed with the customer service I experienced at Staples. We had a print order made, and the sizing came out slightly off. Nothing major. We simply asked the associate at pickup if she could trim the edges using the in store cutters so we could take it with us correctly sized. Our pickup was scheduled for 7:30 PM. She told us she couldn't do it because they were closing soon, and instead offered to take it back and have us return the next day to pick it up. Mind you, this is something that would have taken maybe five minutes at most. It was frustrating because we planned our pickup around the scheduled time, and the job itself was already completed. We weren't asking for a redesign or reprint, just a quick trim so we could leave with the finished product. This type of customer service is exactly why people are moving away from shopping in stores. Convenience should apply to the customer, not just the staff. Taking a few extra minutes to make sure a guest leaves satisfied goes a long way. There definitely needs to be better training around customer care and problem solving in moments like this. Small interactions shape the entire brand experience, and unfortunately this one missed the mark. read more

I just had the worst experience of my life in Staples on West 86th St in Indy. The cashier, Steve, was the most disrespectful jerk I have ever met. He spoke to me like I was dirt & then took a phone call in the middle of our conversation and fanned me off to get out of the store. All because he told him to have a better day because he clearly didn't want to help me. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT ANOTHER STAPLES EVER AGAIN!! What happened to customer service & just treating people with respect? I will be contacting the Manager (Evan) today at 2:00 & I expect something to be done about how badly his employee treated me. I have come to the Staples location several times for Amazon returns. Each time the Staples employee has been rude and acted like I was putting them out to accept my return. I'm sorry, that you hate your job, but this seems like a normal expectation of a customer service employee at Staples. Please do not be rude with your customers! I was perfectly courteous, and when I said, may I please have a receipt for my return the response was an incredulous, "you want a receipt?!" "Yes please", I say. The store employee Edwin that helped me today was super helpful and made sure I knew what the pricing of some clearance items was before he rang them up. I appreciate him going the extra mile. I like that there is an office supply store in the Glendale area because the other options are far north or west and I prefer not to have to deal with the traffic in the Castleton area or Michigan Road area. I did speak to a manager, but I just had one of the worst experiences at the TSA pre-check registration that apparently is run by the Staples employees. Not only was I yelled at even though I was told via the TSA information line that I had the right identification for my daughter, the employee became so agitated that she slammed her phone down on the table multiple times, exclaimed she does not get paid enough for this and hates her job all in front of my 13-year-old daughter. This is unacceptable behavior for any sort of customer service employee and we will not be returning here even with the right identification. read more

Can be hit or miss. I typically come in here to replace my ink cartridge, recycle toner, or look for cute paper goods so I've never really needed to rely on their customer service as far as printing/asking for assistance/suggestions or recommendations on electronics/appliances. I always see staff just chatting or standing around and not necessarily super knowledgeable about products. However, I like that I can just pop in here, get what I need, and get out. read more

I prefer to frequent the Staples in Fishers, as they seem to have better stock and a much more professional staff. I'm been to this location several times and the manager or supervisor on duty is yelling across the store at a clerk, or they can't locate my order, or they have restrictions on how many gift cards you can purchase. Here is my experience at Staples in numbers. 1. We wait in the ink section for assistance. "Help needed in the ink department" is announced on the intercom, over and over. Nobody ever comes. Ever. 2. Lady stops me in the office supply section to ask for help, but I don't work here. I think this place is open, but for some reason, there is zero staff on the floor. 3. As I'm poking through miscellaneous items near the checkout, I overhear a cashier singing, "I don't want to be here. I just want to go home." She's waving her arms in the air, but I don't think she's doing yoga. 4. Some manager looking person stops me. "Are you ready to check out? Because you're standing in the wrong place. Checkout is over there." So, I move toward the checkout line, because the cashier singing was actually in the return lane. 5. As I'm walking to the correct line, I overhear the manager and cashiers speaking audibly about how "some customers will wait in the wrong line forever". Except I wasn't waiting in the wrong line. I was just standing there looking at merchandise. Please don't make fun of customers where they can hear you. We are not your enemy, no matter how badly you don't want to be at your job. read more

I've always had mixed results at Staples, a likely reason that when I do need to visit an office supply establishment on that rare occasion that I usually find myself going someplace else. When the Staples first went into the Glendale Town Center, I was pretty excited because it was closer to my home and it was also right next to the library. That's a great combination for me. While I was never completely blown away by their service or selection, I've always found them to be a sort of middling option. Today's visit, however, was the first one in my yelping days and I found myself leaving the store immediately wanting to come home and write about it. My visit today was motivated by a simple need - using the fax. Because I had to fax something to a government agency and because government agencies haven't updated their communications options since the mid 20th century, faxing was pretty much the only timely option. When I arrived, I immediately went to the printing service area where an employee was helping a customer with a print job of some sort. I wasn't acknowledged, not even a look or a "be with you in a minute," so I took it upon myself to look around. Fortunately, the fax machine was located in a fairly obvious location and its signage was adequate. The pricing was $1.79 for the first page and $1.59 for each subsequent page on domestic calls. Doesn't that seem a bit steep? It did to me. I really didn't want to drive up to their competitor, so I went with it. Unfortunately, one of my pages was a two-sided document and there was no signage indicating if the machine could do two-sided. Since I still hadn't gotten any attention, I opted to move over to a copier and make a copy of the document. To do this, you insert a credit card into the machine and it automatically charges you for copies. I look forward to that $.22 sent credit charge. The copier isn't exactly wheelchair friendly and I really had to stretch to read the credit card scanner. I'm hoping I didn't press "yes" to buying a condo. I took my now 11 pages for faxing and went back to the machine. I still never received a look or an acknowledgement. I am fairly sure this customer service rep was breathing, but I truly had no proof. I'm guessing that multi-tasking was not in her skill set. The fax machine was placed on the service counter and was incredibly high. In fact, it was so high that I couldn't read any of the buttons. I struggled to get the documents placed in the scanner and to ensure that I was entering the correct phone number. I knocked the phone off the hook multiple times trying to place the document but, once again, never got a look, a comment, or an offer for help. After several minutes, I finally did get it to work but I'd apparently waited too long and the fax didn't send. So, I re-entered the number and eventually got it to go. After a few moments of waiting, my confirmation arrived (I was hoping that's how it worked since it was clear no one would tell me). They apparently bill according to the confirmation and, yes, I finally got an acknowledgement when I directly said to her "Do I pay for this back here?" After she realized I did have my confirmation, she pointed me to the credit card machine and checked me out with about as much enthusiasm for life as a Belle & Sebastian record. I left immediately via their incredibly wheelchair friendly curb cut, but ultimately realizing why Staples has never been a business I frequent. Well, this Staples location continues to be a joke. I had already "Written-it-off" months ago and told myself that I should never enter that store again. It is dis-organized and does not have much to choose from. And the prices are higher than anywhere else. I was excited to see a In-Store coupon that my brother had told me about. It was in the IndyStar NEWSPAPER which I had to go seek out a copy! Anyway the coupon could be used on Tech Products and I was in the market for a laptop. I went into this Glendale Staples on North Keystone and they only had 3-4 Laptops TOTAL. The whole laptop display area was nearly empty. And I can gather that it was NOT from selling them. It was lack of inventory. I should have stayed away from there and not wasted my time. I suggest that you do not waste your time in this store either.... read more

I came to purchase an all in one printer that was on sale for an exceptional price. I can't say that I've ever been to Staples before, but I'm pretty sure I'll be back. There is a Best Buy very close to me, but they often don't have what they advertise. They also follow everyone and make you feel like a criminal. NOT STAPLES! They had so many good deals and I could have looked at many things, but had many other stops to make. The workers were very friendly and helpful. It was a pleasant shopping experience and I will drive a few miles to shop here at Staples when I need anything that they carry. Such a bummer!!! I came today to buy printer ink and they were closed for construction! :-( So sad! No problem though, because Target had the ink I needed. Overall, this Staples Office Superstore has improved so much over the last year! I used to DREAD coming to this store. The employees seemed detached from the clients, and they didn't seem to be very helpful. But they have improved so much! Nowadays, I'm always greeted when I walk in the store! I go there a lot because our company office is located nearby. The staff is friendly and helpful. Even the lady today who told me they were closed was apologetic and genuinely friendly. The three stars are on the side of hope. I've had consistently mixed experiences at this branch. Do stay away if you need to make copies. More than once I've come in to find the copiers not working. Unfortunately, it is also more than once that I've been treated like I kicked the Copy Counter Lady's puppy for asking for the paper to be re-stocked. I'm not sure what her deal is, but it's clear that she's very unhappy and not shy about sharing her mood with innocent copy-makers. I will definitely find a new place to do my copying. On the other hand, I have had very pleasant experiences with people out on the floor. Yesterday, I described a thingy I didn't know the name of (turned out to be a "binder ring"--which makes sense, because that's exactly what it is) to Brendan(sp?) and despite my vague and rambling description, he took me right to where they are. When I told him I was disappointed in the price because I want to buy a lot of them, he helped me make an online order--which arrived at my home the next day! yay! I've also had nice chats with other ladies on the floor...so....I don't know. I guess don't go out of your way to come here--but if you're in the area and you don't need to make copies, you'll be fine. read more

When I am in need of printing supplies, they always seem to have what I need. However, the younger lady in the printing service area has terrible customer service. She acts as if I am bothering her and she doesn't want to be there. Every time I leave here, I am aggravated and projects are incomplete. In the future, I will be looking for a different retail location for supplies. read more

I check out this location today, and the staff was very helpful! The store was well organized, although they were stocking items at the time. The cashier was very friendly and accommodating, as I needed to retreive more things multiple times, after getting in line. I have to return tomorrow after work to finish up my shopping, and I am expecting to have the same experience. P.S. The clearance section(table) is easily assessible at the front of the store. This Staples is kind of a joke. The lighting is very poor, giving one a Twilight Zone feeling. Parts of the store are a mess - like the clearance items literally thrown in a pile on a table. Yikes. The employees range from very helpful and knowledgeable by the printer ink to sassy at the register to bumbling (but very nice) in printing services. Due to a technical malfunction, which was not the fault of those employees, but still frustrating I had to go to the Fishers location to get my business cards printed. Absolutely horrendous experience. I bought electronic equipment and it was defective. Attempted to take it back and they were closed due to flooding. Tried taking back a week later and they were still closed. Took it back a month after that and the lady says sorry, 30 day policy. Then she lies to me and tells me it's not on the receipt I brought with me. I had to take the receipt back and find it and point it out to her. Awful experience. Awful people. The old Staples bait and switch (not my first experience with it). 27" HP monitor on sale 1/10-1/21. First day of sale - out of stock online and all stores in Indiana. Loved my sales associate. But she tried twice to sell me a different monitor - Acer or HP and only 21" and 24". The stores won't sell display units, wont issue a rain check and wont allow me to place a hold or pre-purchase for when their next delivery comes in. And the manager has "no visibility of if and when more would come in." Really?! You're the area GM Shannon. If you don't have the power and visibility who does? Oh thats right - blame it on Corporate. So my complaint is with both Corporate and local store. Argh. read more

Order early since delivery can take a while 2. Be creative - a poster can be a seating chart, business cards can be seating cards or table numbers, business hand outs can be programs, etc. 3. Proof read, proof read, proof read, proof read, and proof read again The Verdict: Staples.com get a 5 for being customizable and being an amazing value. I would both use it again and recommend it. However remember that you must proof your work and posters will need backing if not hung on a wall. If you have some creativity, then you should definitely use staples.com for printed materials for your wedding. I hope this helps! I've been printing here for years. It's easy to upload a document and have it printed, picking it up when we run to the library right next door. I've had 100s of dollars worth of printing done. In the last 6 months their copy and print section has gotten terrible. They can't ever find your order, or it's not done, or it's done wrong. I sent in an order a few weeks ago and this past week they called me 5 times to pick it up (I had forgotten about it and told them I would be right in). I sent another order in on thursday a 240 page job. I figured I would pick up both orders this morning but the thursday job wasn't done and the system was down and they couldn't access the files. Horrible customer service in store and now on line. I receive countless offers for discounts if I order on-line. I finally gave it a try. The order never arrived and I received nothing indicating any issue from Staples. I have my "thank you" receipt from them, but (after trying the on-line chat customer service to no avail and being transferred for 25 minutes by phone) Staples states that I am "not a customer that can order on line" They offered no explanation, no resolution, no re-process of the order, and said they could not provide proof that my credit card was not charged. They told me to go to the store and they can sell me the paper but the discount for ordering on-line would not be honored. Seriously??!!! The store has such bad service that Ithought on-line would at least be more convenient and I would get my "Rewards Member Discounts". I was wrong Staples is a joke and I am no longer their customer. read more
