Why is this Staples rated so low??? Well, I arrived for TSA Pre-Check; I was greeted immediately upon walking in and directed to the Tech Services counter. Before I even got 10 feet close I was Gary, the associate, to "stand by the green dot!" I said ok. The customer in front of me was taking a while, so I walked to the counter to "check in" because there was a monitor at the counter. Daniel, another associate nearby, "oh, the green dot--standby the green dot." At this point, I'm confused why I keep getting these short, dry responses? The store is damn near empty, quiet, and there is really no wait. Fast forward 5 or so minutes and 3 additional Pre-Check customers join me in line. When it is my turn to approach the counter, Gary quickly rejects me because I don't have an appointment--fine! But he then adds "that's why I asked you: did you have an appointment?" I rebutted and told him, you said nothing to me but "green dot!" I never got a chance to ask questions important to my visit. In sum, Gary is clearly annoyed this morning (eye rolls, short answers, monotone)...Eventually, Daniel assisted me with some complex issues with my TSA Pre-check application. He wasn't super helpful, but he wasn't nearly as rude as Gary. He also wasn't very empathic or cheerful but I understand that's not what's asked of them (sales associates)...However, my note to the management of this store: stop putting these robots at customer services counters, for a service such as TSA pre-check Gary and Daniel's lackadaisicalness will not cut it. At one point I asked Daniel about alternative solutions to my problem and he stared at me blankly. They don't know how to engage customers or provide pleasant service. This is my "friendly" neighborhood Staples so I will be back, hopefully, I WILL NOT have the pleasure of receiving their service again. read more

Puzzled by the bad reviews. This is the only Staples location that I have had great experiences at. Everyone here is so helpful and knowledgeable in every department. I usually dread going in anywhere for a print job, but seriously every time I have come to this location for this purpose - it has been so easy and quick. Not to mention the people that work in that department are always so sweet and helpful. Today I went in looking for a specific type of pen, and although they didn't carry it, the cashier went out of her way to help. Glad to have them in the neighborhood. Holy crap! ROMAN! He's the dude!! I needed 24 menus printed front and back. Came in with a thumb drive with psd files. Had a spelling error in one and some misalignment of text. He was VERY accommodating and helpful. Fixed it, printed everything, and laser cut them. Got me out of there in 12 minutes!!! read more

Customer service here is pretty bad and not attentive. After using the kiosk to print a shipping label, I needed to drop off my package via UPS which they provide. But while waiting to drop off my package because I wanted a receipt, there was three employees just standing by the register, and clearly saw me and one other person waiting to drop off a package. DON'T EVER USE THEIR PACK AND SHIP SERVICE I know shop at this staples for the typical pens, sticky notes and don't usually have a problem. But today i wanted to ship an item via ups and remembered staples has a pack and ship area and thought I would try it the service again. (First time wasn't a charm) Got there little before 2 today and left out there after 2:30. Which is suchhhh a long time just to ship out one item and I was the only one in line to ship anything out. the lack of knowledge from THREE people who couldn't figure out how to initially help me. My experience is as follows Bad customer service: 0 no one greeted me despite a lady sitting down behind the desk at the copy center where the pack and ship department is also located, doing whatever cause she wasn't helping nor talking to any customer. There was another sales associate behind me in the tech area, still no greeting or "would like me to get some help for you" so I waited a couple more seconds to see if anyone would say anything but nope. Nothing. So I called the tech guy over and asked if he could get someone to assist me. Knowledge of online service: 0 When I was looking up the times for the store hours I decided to look up more info about the pack and ship to see if it might close at a certain time and came across the option to start your shipping label online and finish it in store. Sooo I tried and figured I could be in and out super quick. Nope. When the tech guy was going to have me put my shipping to/from info in the computer I told him I already started that process online and I have a reference # and even showed him the email and the screen shot of the reference # but he had no idea about the service let alone how to to look my info up. So he called over someone else who then called over Someone else because they too as well had no idea about the service or how to even look up my info. And what do you know the copy and print girl finally starts to speak which was to no help because she looked miserable and ready to go home and she too had no idea what to do. They basically just wasted at least 5-10 mins just trying to figure out something they had no knowledge of instead of just saying "we don't offer that service here". That would of saved me so much time. I eventually just started over and reput my info in on the computer. Once everything was in the box and and taped up I asked if they had a fragile sticker to put on the box, and guess what? I had to wait a few more minutes again because they didn't have anymore and I had to wait they made more. What was so hard in just letting me pay and saying " you know what, we don't have anymore and since we have to make some more you can pay the shipping cost and and we'll attach the sticker once their done being made" I mean my goodness do these people not know customer service ???? So I had I walk around the store for a few minutes until he stickers were done being made and thennnn I was finally able to pay to ship my stuff and one I left the store It was not only after 2:30 but I was very unhappy with the service and the level of customer service. The first time I used the pack and ship was the same thing. No one greeted me nor offered to help until I had to call someone over who was already behind the desks seriously!!!??? This place has taught me a good lesson. All staples are NOT the same and to not stock-up with Staples Supplies. Although I live in DTLA I always stop by the Hollywood Sunset Blvd location on my way home from the office. I have NEVER had issues with supplies from there in 7 years. On the other had, location, location, location..really does matter because I have just purchased a few things from this Figueroa location and what garbage I have encountered. A couple of month ago I bought a box of paper-mate purple markers and they were all dried out. Of course I didn't return them because Its not worth my time or gas for a box of markers.....but not TODAY! Oh today I am upset. The second lesson of not stocking up on Staples supplies came today when I used HP ink I purchased at the beginning of the year. I always buy a spare so I have backup when I run out and not have to run out as soon as we are low. Well, I install the one cartridge of black ink in my printer and it says ink is expired. HUH? thats not possible, I bought this in February. So I go to the box and immediately notice I didn't get what the box is suppose to have inside. Its suppose to have one XL black ink and 3 colored slimmer inks, same as I have been buying for YEARS. Well, there was random inks not belonging to the inks suppose to be in the box, there were two XL black and one color and all had a sticker on them so they did not belong in the box and they were expired in.....wait for it.....2012....!!!!! FIVE YEARS AGO!! I spent about $129.00 or more and this store had put expired inks in a box and resealed it to sell! And OF COURSE...I didn't notice until now when I needed to replace my ink. LIVID. I AM LIVID. DONT buy ink here. and if so...OPEN IT AT THE STORE and check it there. Look at the date in the inside cartridges and even try the ink in pens/markers. They have bad product. So disappointed. I buy a lot of products from Staples but because of the ink I go to Office max in DTLA because this has never happen there. I tried to ask someone for help and got blatently ignored. When another worker finally helped me, I discovered that they don't even sell HP chargers despite selling HP laptops in store. They had a limited selection of "universal chargers" that were all ridiculously overpriced ($80+). I ordered the charger I needed on amazon for $12. Will not be reurning to this store. read more

I live around the corner from this place and I'm usually here at least every other week scanning, printing and recently - shredding services. I do everything (scanning and printing) myself on their machine. Once in a great while I do ask questions and the people there usually answer my questions, they are helpful from my experience. The services mentioned are the only things I do here and my experience has been positive here at this store. read more

So.. we went back to pick up our file cabinet early in the morning on Tuesday after receiving a call from their automated system thingies on Monday night only to be told by one of the workers that it hasn't arrived at their store yet. Wtf? Went back again same time on Wednesday and was told that it MIGHT not be here.. again.. -_- The worker left us to look 'in the back'.. 10 minutes passed but we didn't see him anywhere.. so.. we went to the 'back' and found him just sitting there.. chilling.. Wtf? After hearing some bad stuff from my angry bf, he finally moved his lazy ass to go look for our cabinet which only took like 1 minute. He brought it out on a dolly and handed it to us... followed us out to our car only to grab the dolly back. Bet anything that our cabinet was there on Tuesday. -_- I hate lazy workers... Staples is my favorite office supply store but this one never has what I need. I recently went here (Oct 2013) to buy a 2014 calendar and they only had 2013 calendars. Who buys a 2013 calendar when there is only a couple months left. I actually found a 2012 calendar too. If this store is not doing well it's because they don't keep their stock up and there is now a new office store just a block away that DOES keep their stock maintained and I hate their stores but now I don't have a choice but to go to them. read more

If you every need the services of a Print & Copy Center - don't bother with this location: drive right on by to better options about a block and a half down Figueroa. I went by this location because it was convenient (about a mile) from the Los Angeles Convention Center where we were attending an event. Needing some copies quick, I ran down here to get some copies (less than 25). There were two people working here, but because they had two other "big" jobs, they could not or would not accommodate me. After waiting about 15 minutes to get help (2 people in front of me), they said I could use the self copy machines that were there, but I had to wait around 20 minutes to find out whether I could print on glossy paper (I could not). So I took my business down the street, where there was one gal at the counter helping around 4 people, but managed to get my job done along with assisting me on some paper choices. I again needed some copies the next day, a Saturday and over the phone, Staples stated they were "very low on paper" and "very busy" but I could come by and "try" to get serviced. No way. I headed down to the other establishment down on Figueroa and got it taken care of in under half an hour. Don't waste your time here. There are better options less than a mile away. read more

Short Version! Had to get a poster printed for class. The Copy and Print Center here got it done for me less than 10 minutes after I walked into the store. $3.59 for 24"x36" b/w engineering print on butcher paper. They've reaffirmed my trust in Staples. Long Version! I've never gone into any office supply store with the intention of leaving a yelp review before (or had much experience with Copy/Print Centers), so I really don't have much of a basis for this review, but I just thought I should leave one since it was a really pleasant experience. So I had to print a poster for class (24"x36" engineering print) the other day and I was running a little behind schedule. Since it was my first time doing a poster, I was freaking out because I wasn't sure I'd have it printed in time. I'd originally planned to have it done at Fedex, but one of the employees at the USC Fedex stop said that they wouldn't be able to do it until noon the next day? So that stressed me out too (on top of all those scary yelp reviews). Finally I called up this Staples and the girl who picked up said it could be done in 5 minutes and that I could even go then because business was pretty slow. You cannot know how much I chilled out after hearing that. So I give myself an hour the next morning to get there and get my poster printed, and once I've gotten there it takes like 10 minutes (there was one other person in front of me), and then I'm back in my car with my lovely poster all rolled up, rubber-banded, and in this cute little "oversized bag". It's a Staples, so the products should be fairly consistent, right? This one seems to have a disproportionate number of old/dusty/returned stuff, likely because it's smaller and doesn't move product as fast. It works fine for a quick stop to pick up commonplace items, but if you need a selection of bigger, newer appliances/furniture/etc, check out another location. read more

If you're in the area come here first and not Office Depot. I went to Office Depot to print a label.... I waited in line for almost 15 minutes before it finally moved. Then when I finally got to the front And told her that I wanted to buy something and pick up my print she laughed, pointed to the cash register across the way and said that's where you pay for stuff and then pointed at a rack holding papers and said that's where you pick your stuff up. I've been there a dozen times and always paid for my boxes and picked up my at the same desk. I also don't understand why they would think it would be OK to keep your private documents on a public rack for anyone to come and pick up. Looked at my Shipping label and they printed it on the entire page so it was completely useless(didn't look like that on the website). I went down the street to this Staples and I told a guy my problem (I wish I knew his name but I forgot to ask) and he laughed and he gave me the prints for free he helped me downsize it and he gave it to me for free and gave me tape for my label so grade A customer service. Called ahead and asked associate if they do full bleed printing and they said yes. Showed up and hour and a half before they closed only to find 1 employee running the print station struggling to service the customer ahead of me. After waiting 45 minutes he signals down someone else to assist me. I was told they do not print full bleed but insisted they print a test page of my document. After fumbling around with my flash drive (that I just purchased there!) she told me it was incompatable with their computer. She kept trying to print a test page for another 10 minutes before I begged for my flash drive back and left. WILL NEVER USE STAPLES PRINTING SERVICES AGAIN. read more

I like this staples I can't say I hate it or love it because some reviews have a good reason there are so little employees who even seem interested in helping the customers. For me I didn't have a bad experience since every time I go to staples it mostly to find books, folders, pens, you know simple things like that for back to school, the cashier ladies weren't there at first when I went to pay only one but she was busy tending to a man and his son and they had to scream over for another cashier for me... But I had a good experience like I said maybe the only reason other people have bad reviews for them is because it's in the other departments because it's true they don't pay attention to all customers they should start by seeing if the customers seem lost or can't find what they need and start off a conversation by saying " how can I be of assistance" you know it's that or fire whoever is in charge of them and get new people who can interact with the customers read more

I ordered a small print job online and paid for a rush on it. 2 days later I came into the store to pickup and there was only 1 person working. Not her fault and it was busy. I waited 15 minutes to be helped and then found out that my order wasn't even ready and had to wait on it longer. Management needs to be on things like this to improve service. Needed to buy a printer as working downtown for 6 weeks. Many staff, not a one looked at me as I found my way to the printers section. Air of depression over the place. As I rounded the corner a lazy looking security woman who was sitting down on some of the inventory for sale looked up directly at me, evidently checking me out to see if I was the type of person who was going to steal something. As I self selected my printer, I rounded that corner again. She had been joined by a Staples staff member who was sitting with her they were talking I went to checkout. Nobody there. I asked someone in copy and print could I check out. He said in an slightly annoyed tone go to checkout. I explained there was no one there. He said you have to go to customer service (was I to know?) A long line in customer service. The man from copy and print reappeared. He said nothing to make up for the small unpleasantness, other than WOULD YOU LIKE A TWO YEAR WARRANTY for $39.99. This was the first interaction with anybody at the store of meaning - this was my chance. I had passed 20 or so staff, there were no customers in the shopping area (they were all in the long line) I took my opportunity and said MOST DEFINITELY NOT. The staff have been hand selected from the unemployment line, as long as they could walk or breathe they got the job Avoid this Staples. Staples management - you're a sad lot. Today I was so disappointed with Staples. They had shipped me the wrong product so I came in-store to try to do an exchange. FYI, they only do returns and not exchanges for online purchases. I was not informed of this when I had called earlier to see if they had the correct item for exchange. The employees were nice, but unfortunately lack training needed to do return transactions and I had to go through 5 different employees for assistance on making a return from an online purchase. Mostly I was disappointed in the company for advertising "1 hour in-store pickup" for items purchased online because I was waiting over an hour and the managers/employees could not process the order and give me the item which was ready for pickup until they received an online form from the Staples store regarding my order. It was so irritating that they can't just process it with a simple email confirmation! Then I was referred to the customer service line, which did not help at all! I was transferred to some other department to see why they hadn't received my order in the store after over an hour and the line had me do a survey then the recording said "call within normal business hours" and then it hung up on me. So there was no resolution and I left the store without my purchase and super disappointed. It was 3:40 when I did the online purchase and Staples doesn't close until 8 or 9.... it makes no sense! So basically I have to wait a day or two to see if I receive an email confirmation to pickup the item I purchased online or call customer service line again. I have to say that I did visit the location, and saw great improvements. For one, a lot more staff. They had people open registers if there was a line. They stocked up on supplies!!! This Staples was my local supply for stationary, printer,ink etc...Until recently ..I worked 50 hrs a week and full time student and run a silk screen shop out my garage The last few days Sun 11/18/12, Sat 11/17/12 ....two days bad experience with copy area and female employee and also male manager. She refuse to make copies said could not help because she said was about to clean up area an hour in advance?
