I have to say, after getting rear ended I wasn't sure where to take my car. I checked a few places and since I had a good buying experience in the past at Star Ford I was hoping this related business called Star Auto Collision would be good also. I called them up after finding other businesses without websites or nobody answered and called Star Auto and they told me how to get my insurance to send over the paperwork. I like that they are open on Saturday as I am super busy during the week, not many places are open on the weekend FYI. I took my car over and they took pictures and then confirmed parts could be ordered and they'd let me know if any thing was on back order. They got the parts and they said it would take 2 weeks but they found even more damage inside so it took and extra week. All throughout the process they were responsive and kept me up to date. Arthur was who handled my case and he is knowledgeable and helpful. I would not hesitate to take a damaged car to this business again. Arthur even asked my insurance if they would waive my deductible and they did! Just amazing service - highly recommended. read more

These guys are great. They did some insurance work for me last year (moderate front end damage). My teenage son scraped up the front right of my wife's car, so I brought it to them for some out-of-pocket work. Mario was great, and offered a very fair price. Work was done beautifully and done on time. Lifetime warranty. I could have done it cheaper elsewhere, but they were going to skimp by doing only partial clearcoat respray on the bumper, which could have peeled over time. Not worth the risk. read more

Great service, great repair, and great communication. No stress, no frustration, and perfect service. My Jeep was damaged when another driver lost control of his car and bumped into mine. The whole door, door frame and wheel on the left side were badly damaged and needed to be replaced, all bent. Arthur sent me a tow truck and took care of everything. He responded to all my questions, informed me about the process, and kept me updated on the parts order and repair progress. He was communicative, professional, friendly and efficient of course. And I guess the rest of his team follows his lead because when I picked up my car yesterday, it was perfect, (perfect color match too as my Jeep is in a special bright color so I was anxious about that) and looked new! The Star Mazda dealership recommended this place. Andy is great! I would have given more stars but the tire jack "went missing" from my car when I did the final walk through. Mario said it was the tow truck driver but the tow truck driver never opened the car--he only towed it. I asked Mario to note on the paperwork that the jack as missing which he did. However, while sitting in the parking lot getting ready to leave, I saw him walk over to the car with one of his mechanics. Not sure what was said but can't shake the uneasy feeling. read more

After a rear-ended car accident, my insurance suggested that I take it to the Star body shop to evaluate the damage and receive an estimate for the repairs. Harry is amazing! A few months ago, I was hit by a drunk driver and they sped away (hit and run). It was a very traumatic experience - but having the guys at Star Body Shop take me in with kindness and thorough service, it turned a bad experience into a good one. UPDATE: I recently turned my car in as my lease ended February 9th. I just received a bill for roughly $4,000 for excess wear and tear. Mind you, the report does not charge me for excess wear to the tires, or mileage (I only had 26,000 miles on the car, and had a 32,000 mile lease). Instead, the report specifically notes the following for most of the items: "POOR REPAIR." My hood, bumper, and two doors were all repaired poorly. These were all items that were damaged during the theft of my Mazda. Items I had assumed would be repaired correctly in a MAZDA-affiliated body shop. Not only did I already pay nearly $7,000 to fix my car with Star Body Shop the first time, I now get to pay another $4,000. USE THIS SHOP AT YOUR OWN RISK. Just had a terrible experience with poor customer service and discrimination from employee Bernie Fierro. That was after the third time going back there because, first time his computer wasn't working, second time he wasn't there, and third time he was plain rude and despite the wait, chose to serve another customer who just arrived and who happened to be of much lighter complexion and then wasn't able to pull all the info he had previously written down. When asked about it he said if you're not happy you can leave. Hence the very poor review. read more

I've been rear-ended twice and I've come to Star Auto Body both times. I just got my car back today and am beyond satisfied with how quickly the work was completed and they buffed out some minor scratches as a courtesy. The job was supposed to take more than two days and it was finished within 24 hours! Harry and Mario were awesome. While waiting my car to be washed, I came in slightly early, we sat and talked about our kids. Very friendly staff, trustworthy and reliable. My bumper got ripped off by a parking curb while backing out and thought I needed to replace it entirely. However when I took it to these guys they immediately took it off and refitted it as before! Instead of paying $800 to replace the bumper, they nicely took it apart, replaced a few screws, and retightened it back on! Very nice owner and will come back if I ever need to. read more

My side mirror got knocked off while my car (Mazda 3) was parked overnight. Whoever did the damage didn't leave a note, so I ended up stuck with the cost of the repair. I got quotes from two other businesses, and was told the parts + labor would be around $350-$375. The mirror and casing were both undamaged, and the wiring was still functional, so I didn't know how that was possible. So obviously, I was pretty happy when Star Body Shop quoted me $280, and even happier when they ended up only charging me $236. read more

Not terrible, but I don't plan to go back. My car was hit and a fair amount of damage was done, so I took it to Star Body Shop per Star Mazda's recommendation. Took about twice as long as initially anticipated, and cost a solid $1k more. That's fine with me, since I wasn't paying for it...but I was left with dings in my doors (which were what was being repaired). When I pointed them out, Mario said that he would forward this on to Andy, as Andy had dealt with my car, and that they would send me photos from before showing the dings. Either way, it didn't make much sense that they would intentionally keep a couple of dings in a door that was being repaired for scrapes and dents, even if they had been there in the first place (which would make sense, because that's where my car was hit). Probably shouldn't have walked away, but I was told that Andy would deal with it and I had already returned my rental car that the insurance company had covered, so it made more sense to just drive off. I tried emailing, but never got a response after that. Not a lot of confidence in these guys or their honesty. read more

I rear ended another car in an intersection so my front bumper was cracked and detached, the headlight casing was shattered, and the front grill was broken. I drive a brand new Mazda3 on lease, so I needed top quality service and specific replacement parts. The Mazda dealership referred me to Star and I had an excellent experience. They worked with my insurance company directly, but also kept in communication with me about what was being done and when I could expect my car back. Harry is very professional and I could tell he is serious about his work. Much respect! Picked up my car today after about 1.5 weeks, it's flawless, and couldn't be happier to be back in it. They even cleaned the interior. Hopefully no more accidents, but if so I will definitely come back here without a doubt. read more

I'm very happy with the work done by this shop. They've now fixed damages on most of the front body of my car, between two different incidents. First service through my insurance provider (Mercury), then I returned for another service from a separate incident because I truly think they take the time and have the knowledge to get your repair right. If you're looking for quick and speedy this is not your place. But if you want your car to look like new afterward, it's worth it. Ex is, they quoted 8 days it took ten. I think worth it. Why rush a job that should be done right! They're good about answering calls and if you show up to ask a question a happy face and an honest answer. read more

The detailing job on my car was so bad that I went straight to my local car wash from the body shop. They immediately recognized the job as sub-par. They re-did it for $180 and it looked 100% better but Star didn't want to take responsibility for their poor work. Later the back-up warning signal malfunctioned and I took it to the dealer who said the body shop painted over the sensor and didn't reconnect them correctly-another $!20. Star said they'd pay half after I called multiple times. They also lost a computerized key that will cost me $250 to replace and they don't want to pay for that either. Plus the car was 3-4 days late in getting back to me. LATER: Star did end up settling with me for about half my loses. read more

I have Mercury Insurance so they referred me to Classic Collision in Tujunga & after I wasn't satisfied with my initial estimate and the service received Mercury referred me to Star Auto & that's when I had the pleasure of meeting Mauricio. He made me feel very comfortable and confident that his body shop would take care of my car. He went far beyond the call of duty for me and Lucky (my ride) and even offered to help me with other minor flaws on my car. Just had some work done with these guys. Mario and Harry really made us feel at home and at ease. The work they did was pristine. The one thing that sets them apart from the three "P's" (painters, platers, & powder coaters) is their communication with the customers. We were told that the work would be done on a certain day and we were asked to call them by that day at noon. Harry answered and Mario was with a customer. Harry said he'd get back to me and he DID, letting us know that it would all be completed by 4pm on the day they promised. That communication is worth a "million" dollars. Harry is very helpful and highly experienced. Fixed my front bumper cover on my Lexus to a satisfactory level for less than $200 without having to buy a new bumper cover. These people are WIZARDS. I've been to them three times, for everything from fender benders to a nasty head-on collision, and each time my car came back in perfect shape. And not just on the surface; they got under the surface and made sure the structure of the car wasn't damaged. Luis in particular is super friendly and helpful. And he has some sort of amazing power over insurance companies- he was able to make sure everything was covered, and increased what insurance was willing to cover by over $1000 to make sure the job was done completely. And, most importantly, they handled all the negotiations with insurance without needing me to do anything. If you're like me and you'd rather set yourself on fire than talk to an insurance adjustor, this shop will totally have your back! My insurance recommended this shop as it was close to my house, my mazda3 had been borderline destroyed in a hit and run. Took it in and was greeted by 3 very nice fellows. Really made me feel comfortable leaving my car in their hands. They completed the repairs very quickly and they were always happy to answer the phone and answer any questions i had throughout the entire repair process. The repair was perfect with a great wash, at least I thought, until I noticed my headlight fogging up. Gave them a call and they had a replacement on the way imediately and called me as soon as it arrived. Sadly due to long hours at work I wasn't able to bring my car in for about a month but when I finally did bring it in they remembered me without any prompts. I dropped it off with them at 8:30 and told me it would be ready about 12. No problem, the lot was packed and I was just stoked that it would be ready the same day. 10:20 they give me a call to let me know it's ready to be picked up. Not even 2 hours later. These gentlemen are incredibly efficient, fast, and from what I can tell the job looks OEM with no flaws. Being their customer almost makes me wish my car was hit again just so I can do business with them again soon. They have themselves a lifelong customer right here. read more

Star Auto spent 5 weeks repairing a dented fender in my daughters new car, and left me with the bill for the last week that the insurance company didn't cover. And although Mario admitted that he took too long to repair the fender and would work it out with the rental company to help my daughter out, he never came through. After about a dozen calls to Mario, my daughter ended up paying $250 out of her pocket. $250 she doesn't have. Very disappointed in Star Auto. Never again Mario. read more
