STAR AUTO MALL: Worst car dealer EVER! I bought a 2017 BMW X3. They never checked the car! I had problems immediately! I called, emailed & texted... Star Auto Mall would NOT return my calls, texts or emails! I went to BMW dealer, and they found lots of issues! Wires hanging down, tires rubbing, etc. It cost me $480 to fix it! Purchased a 2018 Chevrolet Volt remotely (NEVER again!) with about 80K miles which I found at Star Auto Mall 512 thru Auto Trader. The CarFax given me showed that it had one owner and no wrecks, but the pictures given to me by the salesman showed a dent on the rear driver's side door...like it had been hit. Okay; they fixed the dent and did an okay job, but never updated the CarFax report There were some scratches. They all were fixed decently. The pictures were looking better and better. I wanted to be careful, so I got a mechanic to come out from K and F Automotive there in Bethlehem and he found that the alignment was off and there was a whine in the drivetrain. He said their were 2 remotes (when I got the car, there was only one). Problems! But, the salesman was working to get those fixed and I kept going back and forth with him via text and voice as he was addressing the issues. He made me feel that it was going to be right. He had Raceway Chevrolet do the alignment. I think either Raceway or Star Auto Mall 512 had to install a new control arm on the steering. They installed new bearings/hubs. I was arranging to have the car transported to NC and the salesman was assuring me that these issues were being fixed. I wanted the inspector to come out and look at the issues again. He came out; the alignment was fixed, but he said there was still something rattling from the engine compartment. But, the salesman met him and showed him the receipts and was telling him things were being fixed. So, the inspector said it was better and that things left were being fixed because of the assurances of the salesman. I was left with the impression that the car was ready to ship and the salesman MADE SURE that it got on the truck and never told me that things still weren't quite right. He said something about used cars are going to have small issues. I got the car in NC... 1. Whine in the drivetrain (when pulling to the right especially). 2. Engine makes a LOT more noise than it should. 3. There was a pretty loud "pop" when backing the car and turn the wheel to the right. 4. There was ZERO charge on the battery and very little gas in tank. 4. Only one remote. NO FLOOR MATS. 5. When I filled it up, the gas range was WAY OFF. I took it to our local Chevrolet dealership for a diagnostic. They said without hesitation to take it back. The car seems like it's been wrecked. 1. ALL the coverings under the engine were missing!! Even the wheel wells. 2. Bar under the engine was making contact with the engine and they had to get it out of the way. 3. Engine mounts might have to be fixed. Engine was definitely making more noise than it should when running...this is an electric car. It should be smooth and quiet (my 2017 was) 4. It had new tires, but they were cheap and made so much noise that the mechanic couldn't properly evaluate the whine. They were wanting me to put tires on it....no! So, I took it back (drove it to PA from NC) and Star Auto Mall 512 waved the restocking fee, gave me a ride to the airport to get a rental...thanks for that, BUT.....I was deceived overall. THEY STILL WANTED 50 CENT PER MILE and deducted it from my refund and never apologized for the deception. In the end, I'm out over $1,000... I would NEVER have bought the car if the salesman hadn't kept telling me things were being fixed...CarFax was still clean. I would suggest going elsewhere...these guys play games. read more

The service department is probably the worst service department I ever went to took my car back four times and it still wasn't fixed, I had to cancel a family vacation because my car wasn't ready. Let me start by saying I did purchase a vehicle from them and I got a great car and a great deal thus the 2 stars. HOWEVER, they are the epitome of sleazy used car salesmen. We visited 2 different lots and the experience at both was not good. They made promises they did not follow through on, and we caught them in blatant lies including the car fax which they attempted to hide from us because the car was involved in 2 minor accidents and they had only disclosed one. They "found great deals" on GAP and tire insurance both of which we wanted to purchase but were ultimately able to get on our own for less than half the price they were quoting. Ultimately, if you want a great deal on a luxury car this place is a good option but be prepared to do your research, negotiate hard, and don't believe a thing they say. read more

I would give this place a zero rating if possible. Here is why: I found a vehicle I was interested in and contacted them to set up a time to test drive. The person who set it up, Pegge, made a mistake, giving me an appointment for the wrong day. She immediately got back to me to tell me she had discovered her mistake and set up the appointment with sales manager, Frank, for the day and time I wanted. All was fine, or so I thought. My husband and I arrived at the specified appointment time given to us. We were told upon arrival that the vehicle we wanted to see was gone. They had sold it 20 minutes before we arrived! They did not even give us the courtesy of an email to notify us and really didn't care that we were upset. Frank asked me my name and then checked his emails. He told me I missed my appointment when I had not! He told me that the vehicle was sold 20 minutes ago. That was really the extent of of it too. They didn't care at all that they had screwed me over and wasted my time. I have emails sent from Pegge to prove this is true, in case Star Auto Mall comes back with a reply that I missed my appointment. DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM THEM. I purchased a 2003 Jetta from Star in July. Two weeks into ownership my brakes went out and left me stranded in Allentown. Had the car towed to a mechanic who had to replace the entire brake system. And, by the way, turns out the emergency brake wasn't even connected before this event. Now, four months later, when I went to have it inspected, turns out it needed over $3,000 of repairs to pass. Here is a list of SOME items it required: - Replace exhaust system - Fix oil leak (severe problem; requires a quart of oil a week) - Replacement of battery hold down - Four new tires (and one tire lug nut was so rusted, they could not get it off) - Replace right front coil spring and new struts - Replace rear coil springs, new shocks If I could give this dealership zero stars, I would. Should you disregard my comments, please, please have your car inspected by a certified mechanic before buying. Unfortunately, I did not have a mechanic at the time of my purchase. I brought my Mercedes GLS 250, which I purchased 3 days ago , back as I was promised 2 new tires. They didn't match the tires to the rear, and installed the cheapest garbage tires on the car. Mercedes requires on the AWD vehicles that all 4 tires be the same size and brand. I stupidly gave the tech a big fat tip before I realized what they did. Drove over an hour for an appointment to see a car that wasn't even onsite when we arrived, and was then sold out from under us. The unprofessional and complete loser of a sales manager drove us to another dealership to supposedly test drive the car, where we then found out it was sold. Bought a car from them last week and thought I'd list the pros and cons of my experience. Pros: The dealership has a large variety of cars to browse. If you are interested in a particular car not on their lot, they can have you browse the online inventory of their sister dealerships, PAG, and TAJ. The salesman let my husband and I test drive a few cars. He did not accompany us which let me talk freely with my husband and perform a true test drive. Regardless of what you are told, selling prices CAN be negotiated. This dealership will work with you to get the price down to a range you seek. I noticed some minor damage to the body of the vehicle I was interested in and the dealership gave me a voucher to bring the car to their auto body shop to be repaired with no hassle. This dealership offers gap insurance. I've experienced other dealerships that does not offer it. My vehicle purchase came with an awesome bumper to bumper extended warranty. Cons: Holy smokes with the credit inquiries. I went in with a preapproval from my bank. They told me they had to run my credit. I assumed it was to complete my pre-approval from my bank. Nope. They ran my credit.... FIVE TIMES. WITH FIVE BANKS. ALL FIVE PULLS REGISTERED HARD PULLS. I damn near went into a frenzy when my credit alerts started going off with each pull. When my husband questioned the manager about the pulls he was informed that they were trying to find a better offer than the pre-approval I had walked in with. The whole process of getting the approval and getting the papers signed took almost 4 hours. I've been driving my car for a few days and am absolutely in love with it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! This place gets one star because zero stars is not an option. Yesterday around 10am I called to let them know I am Interested in 2 2016 vehicles but they are in different locations. The secretary tells me they can have the vehicles in their lot in 40mins for me to test drive, so I set an appointment for 5:30pm after work. I call again early afternoon to see if they got the vehicles, I spoke with a salesmen named Josh and he confirmed that they have them. Later after work I call again to double check, someone else picked up the phone, I asked for Josh but he wasn't available, this other person said "yes Josh got the cars they are here in the lot". So I drove 30mins planning on leaving with a car. As soon as I meet up with Josh he takes me directly to the same model vehicle but 2018 and way more expensive. So I tell him this isnt the car I asked for, he said "yeah those were sold yesterday but we have a ton of them and this one is nice". So they and I say they because their entire staff lied "confirming" the cars were in the lot when they never even intended on getting them there. They just thought their slimy, bottom of the gutter sales tactics were going to work. So now Im pissed, I asked Josh how is he going to fix this? While Josh is trying to figure out another lie, Im waiting in the office and another salesmen is on the phone saying "If I take a girl out and buy her a drink, Im expecting for her to give it up(get laid). If she's wasting my time she better pay me back for the drink, Im not a charity" This is the type of people you will deal with here. Josh comes with a ton of horrible offers and then tells me the cars I asked for are nowhere to be found, he doesnt know if they were sold or what, apparently they just magically disappeared. He found one vehicle exactly the same but more expensive, so I requested for them to match the price due to their error and that there is no justification for the extra money when they are practically identical in mileage and year, just different color. More time wasted with lying Josh, since now he wants to justify the difference in price saying the car I wanted is 1k less because it has structural damage. But it has a clean car fax with minor fender benders reported. No damage done to the structural integrity of the vehicle is reported on the carfax I told him. So I left and on my way home the manager calls, says he heard I left upset. I explain what happened and that he needs get his house in order, and Im only doing business if they match the price. Once again he mentions "structural damage" but with a clean carfax? He offers to bring back the so called car that was sold the day before, that isn't in the system, the one the tooth fairy purchased, If what I want to purchase is a car with structural damage and that they have a system that is better then carfax()and it shows the vehicle has structural damage. To end the story I told him if you do not match the price on the other vehicle please do not call me. I am a professional and I handled the situation respectfully, which is more then they deserved. I do not waste others time, please do not waste mine. The only way they can fix this wrong, is matching the price. It seems this is how every Star Auto Mall operates, you have been warned. read more

Oh my God..I've never been to a slimy 'used car' lot.. now I can check it off my list .. I walk in and feel like I'm in the "hood". They seriously don't care if you are there or not. We came here from an hour away after many phone calls about a certain vehicle we saw on line - to sign paperwork after we already made the deal on the phone- Well, they forgot to tell us about an important paper we have to have. Our sales guy was as dry and monotone as if he just lost his dog..(I'm sorry - maybe he did) The pricing for the warranty they offered was astronomically ridiculous. But when we told him what we thought about that.. he now"can give us a cheaper one".. (those words exactly) I just wanted to give him my Sandler Selling System Books. Pro: they stayed late in order to sell me my car, because I drove out from Philly. That was nice. Cons: So many. The salesman was grumpy and mean. I tried to joke with him and he had no smiles for me whatsoever. He wouldn't budge an inch on the price. He wouldn't put air in the tires. How much would it have cost them to put air in the tires? ...about 2 minutes of effort. He neglected to tell me that in order to put the car in reverse, you have to pull up on the ring on the shifter. When I mentioned that it was really hard to get back from the test drive without reverse, he just shrugged, "I can't tell you everything." I asked questions about the car (Has it been in an accident? What's that smell? etc.) and he just stonewalled me. They stole my EZpass, nice work, fellas! Problems I've noticed so far, 1 week in: The driver's visor came off in my hands. The engine is noisy -- I'm worried. The stereo is nice, but only the right rear speaker works, and it won't connect the bluetooth with my phone. Now my rear tire is flat, so they sold me a car with a tire with a slow leak. My mechanic friend is going to look it over so I can find out what else is going to crap out. No warranty, of course. No goodwill. My friend overheard them saying to each other that they would sell my old car for $12,000. But of course to me they shit-talked it and gave me less than $1000 on trade-in. How hard would it have been to smile, to add a little air, to tell me what kind of oil to put in and when it was last changed? And to not steal my damn EZpass? These guys fulfill the stereotypes of used car dealers. Don't be fooled by their website's offer to inspect your car a year later for free. That's only if you keep their big stickers on the back of your car, to provide them with a year of free advertising. Always get a used car checked by an independent mechanic who can put it on a lift! Found a car I loved here, but when the mechanic checked it out, it needed $3500 of work. I told the manager at Star that I still wanted the car if they did the work, but they didn't call me for a week, then it was to offer a different car for sale. Slimy and dishonest They only care about making the sale not about doing the right thing. Absolutely no ethics found in that place. I had a quote from my bank for 3.75% so I told them they could run my credit ONCE. ONE TIME to see if they could get me lower than that. I was very explicit about this. Well...they ran my credit 5 times. They came back with 3.7% so I said "ok". I waited 3+ hours before we actually started the signing of paper work. Paul coerced me into gap insurance. After saying no to it twice he still wouldn't let it go so I finally gave in to shut him up. I planned on just cancelling it the next day. Mid way through signing Vincent, the finance person, came over and told me my rate was really 4.4% (keep in mind it's now 6:30pm on Friday night. No banks have been open for at least 1.5 hours) how it got changed from 3.7% to 4.4% after the banks had closed will always be a mystery to me. There is a reason these guys get 1.5 stars. I'd give a 0 if I could. BUYER BEWARE AND BE READY TO WALK OUT THE DOOR WITHOUT A CAR AT ANY SECOND!!! read more

0 STARS!!! VICTOR (who is NOT the manager or the owner despite what he may tell you) gave us the worst customer service we have ever experienced. A friend and I accompanied a third friend to purchase a used car. Her transmission went on her previous car, and she needed a replacement. My friend had one car in mind that she wanted to test drive, and while we were in the car we noticed there were a lot of cosmetic issues that devalued the car. Upon returning to the dealership, we mentioned to the (embarrassment of a) salesman that we weren't really satisfied with the vehicle. We asked if we could test drive a similar vehicle that was in much better shape when things took a turn for the worst. He rather rudely mentioned to us that we were inconveniencing him and asked us, "I don't mean to be rude, but are you here to buy a car today or are you just here to test drive cars all day?" He also mentioned that he had 20-something customers waiting for him to drive a car and that he didn't want people coming in wasting his time. Even then we still proceeded to agree to test drive the second car and he told us to meet him at a different part of the lot so he could top off the air in one tire. We parked the car where he told us to go and he never came by to check on us. Finally, after about 5 minutes or so, we decided to drive back around the front of the dealership because we felt we weren't being taken seriously. We told Victor we were going to pass on the car, and then he started getting defensive. To not extend this any further, we wound up in a screaming match with VICTOR BERKEY when we expressed how disasstified we were with his "service" and that we would not buy a vehicle there. I have been working retail/service for YEARS and had I ever spoken to anyone in the manner in which this disgrace of a salesman I would have been fired on the spot! TLDR: DO NOT BUY FROM VICTOR BERKEY. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. GO ELSEWHERE AND SAVE YOURSELF THE SCREAMING MATCH. read more

Pete- Sales agent picked up the phone in an unprofessional manner (sounded "blah") as I felt I was calling someone's home phone.. no company greeting or anything. I test drove the car as I also had my trade in as well. The finance manager wanted to give me wayyy less than book value on trade in- trying to make much money off of me with my trade in for whole sale price, on top of making money off the new car. They wouldn't budge on the new cars price either! Rip off! If I left there with this deal they would have flipped my trade in- selling it for double and making money already off the new car. Bad body condition- dents chips, all over.. appearance looked like it had 100k miles Car I was trading in: 2012 Acura TSX 90k miles, normal condition -valued my trade in as $6k (wholesale price) KBB: $8k Update (2 days later): Super happy with a CLEAN 2014 IS250 30k miles, $21500. My husband arrived at 5:10 for a 5:30 appointment and no one came over to him or helped him because Frank was with someone else. My husband waited until 6:00 and then asked for my deposit check and they could not find it. I've never witnessed such pushy disrespectful people in my life. Going back on Friday to pick up my check. Bought a golf tdi and it had the tire pressure sensor on it. I was told the car just had 'low tire pressure'. It turned out to be that they took out all 4 sensors and I had to spend $300+ to get new sensors. I called the dealership and the manager yelled at me when I had explained to him the situation. I'm not going to tell a story to make my points across but rather a list of both pros and cons from my experience: Pros: -found a gem of a car. A 2016 model with 4,000-ish miles on it. Apparently it was repo-ed barely 4 month into a lease. - got a lower apr than what my bank had me pre-qualified for -got the monthly payment to roughly what I was hoping for to within $15 - $0 down....enough said Cons: -sales rep was very inexperienced. Had very little knowledge about any of the cars I was looking at. - the"soft pull" of my credit ended up actually being hard inquiries...6 of them, which caused my credit score to tank from the high 700s to the low 700s... - F&I was slow...horrendously slow. It's not entirely their fault, but it was the end of the month and they had ONE person doing ALL of it. They should plan for things like this. From the time I decided that was the car I wanted until the time I actually left the dealership with the keys to the car, it was literally 4.5 hours...completely unacceptable. Had I known it was going to take that long, I could've walked over to Applebees, had a few beers and dinner... - I fell into the same boat with other people in taking those stickers off of the car. I'm not going to give them free advertising. - car did not come with a key fob...it's 2017 people...most cars today come with one. When I asked about getting one, they literally told me that if I wanted it, they "know a guy who knows a guy who can probably get me one for about $50"...really? -zero follow up asking how I liked the purchase. Most reputable dealerships actually do that ensure that the customer is happy and if there are any questions/concerns, to make an effort to rectify. Don't expect to get that from this place. All in all, the cars here are pretty solid for the most part. Some mileage on them, but you'll get at least 5-7 years out of them with regular maintenance etc, and then there's others that left me wondering...like how can they sell a 2011 Jetta with 60,000 on the clock for close to $13,000? read more

When they tell you they do free inspections for life it's because you have to have their sticker on your vehicle. Which means you have to advertise for them into perpetuity or at least until you get rid of the vehicle in order to get the free lifetime inspections. I bought my Land Rover here in April 2016. Kudos to Joe and the guys at Star Auto Mall.! We were in from Michigan and had a low tire. Couldn't find a station with an air hose so we called Star; Joe told us to come on in. They found a nail in the tire, removed it and we were on our way in a matter of minutes. Super service and very friendly. Highly recommend these guys! read more

Wish there is any option to give NO star, I guess the team star looks at you and decide if they want to do business with you or not and then they would ignore you if they don't want. I selected a car from their online inventory and wrote to internet manager (which is a joke btw, she always sends a pre-written email, no matter what you have asked for) Saturday afternoon I was in their office, first they said oh you don't have an appointment but its ok, wait and we will have a salesman looking for you. After 5 minutes a gentleman came and asked what I was looking for. I gave the details of the car and he went behind his computer. After 10 minutes came with print outs of the details of the car and asked me to wait as the keys are with manager. There was no customer in the floor, few staff members were smoking outside. After waiting for some time he came back and said oh the car is in Repair shop. I told him that is weird as in details it was written the car is in excellent mint condition and photos are also showing the same, the salesman became rude and said if you believe Carfax its a BS , I can sell a wreck and carfax will show excellent. This statement was blow for me still I wanted to know more about the car. I said any ETA when it will be available, his reply was I don't know, call me next week. I bought many cars in past both used and new , never in my life I faced this situation where I stepped into a dealership and came out without giving my phone number, it was a blessing that he didn't even bother to ask for my name or phone number. what a customer service , wow just wow .. read more
