Pretty poor experience tonight at the 5:30 showing of dogman!!! Service couldn't have been slower and both the parking lot and our theatre weren't even halfway full. My husband waited 49 mins for strawberry lemonade that was ordered before the movie even started. My tacos and queso came out cold, not warm, COLD! Sent one taco back only to wait another 18 mins for guess what, more cold tacos! The trash can in the restroom Was overflowing with towelettes and two stalls had no toilet tissue. This also seemed to be where the staff hides out. There were individuals listening to what sounded like videos from their phones In the stalls. To top it off we were told the lemonade would be removed from the bill.....and of course it wasn't. My husband paid the bill without saying anything because we just became fed up with pressing the "button" and getting service some 10+ mins later. All in all, we will never return to this location. I think it should be understood that yes, prices are rising everywhere. However it should also be expected that delivery to the consumer should AT LEAST meet expectations. This fell so far below any standard for in theatre dining. It was just purely disappointing. read more

Ugh it pains me to give this place a bad review but after my most recent experience, it's what it deserves. My husband and I have been coming here since it opened and usualy have a great time, so much so that we come here on a monthly basis. However most recently, the service has seemed to really go downhill. I was here a few weeks ago and we had paid for the pods.. but as soon as we walked into one of the smaller theatre's for our movie, we were overwhelmed with a disgusting smell. Not sure what it was, but it was overwhelming, it smelt musty and wet, maybe like cleaned up vomit? I alerted a server who let the manager know. When the manager came in, she was like oh we don't smell anything and that was pretty much the end of it. I ended up watching the movie with my sweater over my nose and ended up leaving with a horrible headache from the smell. Even my husband said that when he came from the bathroom it was very noticeable when you walked right into the theatre. Next our pods were very dirty, there was old popcorn spilt everywhere and garbage in the table console. It felt like they didn't even clean up after the previous movie! I will say all the servers were very friendly and provided quick service with a smile. I ordered my go to hummus which is normally delicious, but that day the oil they used tasted rancid and the cut vegetables had a vinegar taste to them. Lastly there were two couples beside us in the pods that spent half the movie walking back and forth and spent a good 5 minute standing up and talking. I know this is not be theatres fault, but they should enforce more strict rules like Alamo. Basically be quiet or get kicked out. All in all this was a really poor experience, I hope they work to remedy these issues. At this time due to the above experience, I cannot recommend this theatre. read more

Update: Dirty restroom, service was slow. Got my drink 1hr within the movie, beer was warm, got charged for a drink that never had. Y'all need more staff on busy days or maybe a manager checking around. Spend $200+ with my family... not worth coming on a busy day I guess. read more

Chose this place to check out the Onyx screen. Let me tell you, it was underwhelming. Don't throw popcorn at me, but it looked the same as every other screen. We went ahead and sprung for the $25 fancy pod seats, and my first encounter with them was a sticky arm rest. If I'm paying $25 for a seat, I'd like to know that my seat has been cleaned prior to my arrival. I wish they provided cleaning wipes or something so I could sanitize my own seat. I ended up using the blanket, but the clean freak in me wondered if the blanket was just rolled up again between uses or if they had freshly laundered ones between each viewing. I tried not to think about it too much. The popcorn was probably a "small" size, so that was probably $10 of the ticket. The food was not cheap but it wasn't terribly expensive either. $10-$15 per plate on average? The pretzel was indeed very soft, so would probably get that again if I was really hungry. The wings were decent (mango lime or something?). Fried pickles were regular fried pickle spears, so nothing surprising there. All in all, it was just decent. Not sure I'd pay for the fancy seats again, but I don't want to be crowded amongst the other patrons either, so I'll probably just go to a regular theater at matinee showings where there are only 20 seats total and 5 people that show up. read more

My husband and I went for a date night. We got the pod and it was worth it! You don't feel like you're sharing the cinema, the wine was $5 a glass that night (their drink of the day varies) and the food was quite good. We'll, mine was. I got the seared tuna and it was very tasty (pricey though). My hubs sliders were nothing special. The pulled pork was good but the ground beef Pattie's were dry and over cooked with cheese as an afterthought and no sauces. This is by far my favorite theater. The entrance is breathtaking by design, it's extremely aesthetically pleasing. The seats are comfortable and modern, we always get the pods just because we love having more room, a blanket & free popcorn, who wouldn't?? It always smells fresh and the temperature is just right. They have Samsung Onyx theaters and they are amazing! The food is delicious, I especially love their pizza but I haven't eaten anything that I haven't loved. The drinks are also excellent and they have a decent selection. I highly recommend this theater to everyone! read more

I really really like this movie theater! It's huge and very clean on the inside. The decorum on the inside is very neat and well thought about. I really enjoyed myself for my movie date! The theater is in a lot by itself with plenty of parking. I don't think they allow the rooms to be too packed but we also went for the 815 showing of King's Men and I'm glad that we did. When you walk in there is the desk to buy your tickets that is open which I think makes it more personable. Then behind that is a bar where you can purchase drinks as you wait for your movie or someone to show up. The chairs in the theater heat up and they also recline. They provide you with a blanket which is nice because it is often cold in the theater. They serve food, drinks, snacks, and candy. Their drinks are not that strong but the blood orange cocktail I ordered was delicious. I will be returning soon. read more

This location is small, but very nice inside, classy. Clean restrooms. Drinks are a bit expensive, but food is reasonably-priced, just wish the food was better. The egg rolls and mini cheeseburgers were just ok. Separate popcorn seasonings is a great idea. I had the jalapeño cheddar seasoning, and my daughter wanted to lighten-up on it. Karbach is available, which is a plus. For the movie, the picture and sound quality was great. I would say Star is a step better than AMS/Cinemark, but not quite to the Alamo level. I will revisit for a future movie. If buying drinks and food, expect to spend around $25 a person on top of the ticket price. read more

Where do I start? First of all critiquing this movie theater for its ambience, pricing, and location is above average - 4/5 stars. Secondly, I recommend coming here to watch movies only. Lastly, stay away from the food. Just about every time I've visited, I told myself I would allow Star Cinema's kitchen to redeem itself. No dice. Seems like all of the wait staff are young adults working their first job. No follow up, no attention to detail. For example if I order a Margherita flatbread and a hot dog with fries, it shouldn't take 35 minutes to come out. I also shouldn't have to call on the waiter to remind them if my food is ready or not. The flatbread was absolutely bland with no flavor, but the hot dog was decent and tasted like any other run in the mill hot dog. Sadly, my popcorn was cold. In conclusion, because of the quality of food, the overall grade of the Richmond Star Cinema drops big time. Do better y'all, please. read more

One of my favorite movie theaters I've visited in a while reminds me of IPIC movie theaters in River Oaks to a slightly less degree. I watched Guardians of the Galaxy Three early that morning, and it was a bit cold. I asked for a blanket and wasn't expecting to get one. I did it to play around, and they came out with blankets that blew me away because I thought that was just an ipic thing. The service was A1 and the decor of the movie theater is mind-blowing. This Theater is what I call a full service dining experience. They provide a high standard in good food & quality service. The servers earnings is very low in base pay & highly dependent on tips. Updated: *** The manager of the theatre contacted me about a few of the issues we found while there and I want to say, they did make some great changes and we went back and it was a great experience. They did change the menu to include free refills on there soft drinks. We did not try the water this time but I know they were fixing that also. There was a lot more staff helping out at the front desk and made the check in service so much quicker this time. I want to thank Neil, the manager, so much for his time and tickets to come back and see the changes. This time we did sit in the pods, which are a little more or a price, but it was well worth it and I would recommend anyone to try it. So we got free tickets in the mail for this new place and decided to try it. When you walk in, it's absolutely beautiful. However, the ticket stop is in the middle of the room with 1 person working. Not great. Then we go into our theatre and the chairs are very nice and you have a table in front of you to eat on. So you take out your menu and you can't read it, thanks to very hard lighting in the place. So when you are ready to order, you push a red button and the server comes to you. The menu is good but the prices are a little high for my taste. So we ordered a appetizer plate and some pretzels and a drink. First off the water sucks! It tastes worse then your bath water. Ick! Our appetizer was wings, mozzarella sticks, fries and fried pickles. The food was actually very good, fresh and hot. The pretzels come with 3 dipping sauces and 2 huge pretzels. Holy cow these were amazing. Now the soda wasn't cheap and found out there are no refills. Who does that?! That was a big issue with me. We asked the waiter if they were free and he shook his head yes and then I got the bill, and ot Anyway, we really enjoyed this place but when you can't have lunch or a snack under 34$, that's not good to me. We've been watching movies in the comfort of our home, but with Shang Chi being released only in theaters, I wanted to make sure we found a place that was as close to the comfort we're used to. Star Cinema was my husband's choice, and for the first time ever, I'm so glad I listened to him. We bought tickets online, and sat in the ATMOS theatre. $70 for a family of 6 (they charge a $11 service fee) wasn't too bad. Check in was easy - we chose the first showing on Labor Day. Definitely like what the other Yelpers described it as - a luxurious roaring 20's feel. My oldest said this is probably what the first class passengers had a taste of on the Titanic. Seating areas were clean, and the bathrooms - *chef's kiss* was incredibly clean and just so pretty. I stood there in awe for a little bit as I washed my hands lol We got seated - seats are very comfortable. Leather seats which are so much better than the cloth ones. They have buttons on the right hand side of your seat to recline - and there's ample space between the recliner and walkway so you don't have to scoot your feet in when people walk by. I wiped the tables down with alcohol wipes - and they were actually pretty clean to begin with. There was no residue or such which was nice. Theatre is clean, lots of leg room, and seating is great. We sat in the very back, and had a great time watching the movie. Service was great - our server took care of us before the trailers. We ordered popcorn, a chocolate milkshake, soft drinks, and some candy. They offered popcorn refills during the movie, but they were careful not to disrupt us too often. Our bill was $50+ including tip, but I mean cmon, we all know theater food is always overpriced. Overall experience was great - will definitely need to come back and try the pod seats. My kids loved it here, and I liked how the food servers wore masks when they delivered us our food. Very clean environment, and I saw one of the employees cleaning the door handles frequently as we lounged around. We will be coming back! read more

Went to see Bob Marley: One Love last night here. Star Cinema is my favorite place to go for movies. It's not often I go anymore, getting so expensive. Two tickets: $26; one salad, one sandwich and popcorn: $46 (without tip) and tipping suggestions start at 18% FYI but it's write in, not a waiter holding an electronic ticket staring at you. We both drank water but soft drinks are $7 each but you get refills. They have a beautiful bar in the lobby and you can get away with dressing up a little. It's much nicer than most theaters. It's always clean and very comfortable seating. Seats recline. Food is always good, I've never been disappointed. I didn't take photos of any food since movie was starting but they're good portions. Plus Large popcorn you get refills on. read more

I think we've found our new go-to theater. We wanted to see Spider-Man but didn't want to sit in a crowded theater and Star Cinema delivered the desired experience. The ambiance reminds me of iPic without paying the iPic price. Even if not sitting in a pod, the seats are comfortable and spaced out enough so you're not sitting close to people like stadium seat theaters. I opted to go with the Love Me Tenders (chicken tenders) and I wasn't disappointed with the tenders, fries or Texas toast. Against my judgement I got the Tropical Thunder drink and could have done without. The drink was a little too sweet. You won't be disappointed with Star. Clean lobby, theater and restrooms. As I walked into the theater lobby it felt a bit like being in Vegas. Beautiful lighting, spacious, comfortable seating area in front of a large bar. You purchase tickets immediately as you enter the lobby. Wonderful area to wait till time for your movie or hangout and visit after a movie. The individual theaters are well marked with not just theater numbers but movie posters. The Star Cinema is a Houston based dine-in theater with a nice menu, full service bar with beer, wine and spirits. The prices weren't outrageous as most items were only a dollar or two higher than in a restaurant. The theater I was in was huge and gorgeous. The reclining seats were very comfortable, the dining tray table held the menus, the order button was conveniently located on top of the tray table with low, pin tip lighting under the tray table. There is one tray table per two seats. I do think it might be a bit awkard if your sharing your tray table with a stranger but I'm sure it works itself out. The servers were timely after pushing the order button, drinks arrived quickly and food followed shortly after. The servers didn't disrupt the movie, stayed low and spoke quietly and clearly. I ordered the Snickerdoodle Martini which was very flavorful, a large glass of water and a order of Classic Potato Skins. The 6 skins were perfectly prepared and had a good amount of toppings. I would order both again but maybe top the skins with the pulled pork. The food isn't delivered with salt or pepper so I need to remember to order upfront. I really could see me going here often if I lived here. It's almost twenty miles for me to drive to but so worth it. read more

I have been here on two separate occasions with one time getting excellent service and once with not so good service. It is a new location as I have been to the one in Cypress before but this is closer to my home. Parking is around back and the side. Once you enter if you have bought your tickets on their online site you can just go to one of the machines in front and scan their bar code and it will print your tickets out. Afterwards just proceed to your seats. The theatre number and seat numbers will appear on the ticket. On our first visit everything went well. We ordered our food and drinks and they arrived a short time later. But the second time not so much. We placed our order: the Fantastic Four- wings, sweet potato fries, fried pickles and southwest egg rolls. I ordered a frozen coke and my wife ordered a tropic thunder. They must have had to go to the tropics to get it. It was close to an hour before it arrived after speaking with two servers and the manager. They have really nice and roomy leather reclining seats which are electronically activated but my seat was stuck in the reclining position when I arrived. They offered to move us but to two seats that were not together? Since I wanted to recline anyway I toughed it out. I was told by the manager that wwe would be given free passes for our trouble which we did receive. In the future I will order my drinks as soon as we arrive and hopefully we will have a better experience. read more

While the theater is nice to look at the service is not. This is my second time here and both times my parties have gotten the wrong order and I have not gotten my order til halfway thru the movie despite ordering it during opening credits. My party and I had to speak to the manager multiple times because when I did finally get my order 30 mins left of the movie it was still wrong. At the end our whole row and the row behind us had to search for our services because no one had come to close us out. Upon finding a frazzled manager, we were finally able to pay and leave 20 mins after the movie ended. Whether it be a need for a new system or a restaff, this cinema needs work. read more

Decided to go check out the maverick movie order dinner and a blanket. Give them my credit card had two different servers. No issues with the food however they never brought the Blanket they never brought the final check. I had to go hunt them down in the hallway took another 20 minutes for them to figure out what's going on they finally gave me my tab and of course they charge me for the blanket which I told them they never delivered. read more

I don't render accolades lightly, butL The Star Cinema Grille is OVER-THE-TOP when it comes to clean rest-rooms with plentiful INSTANT Hot water, picture quality, COMFY seats, great food, fast inconspicuous service, reasonable pricing, and state-of-the art decor. We saw The Nutcracker Ballet performed by The Bolshoi troupe, on a big screen and WOW! Magnificent! We've enjoyed many theaters in Houston, but this one really raises the bar. I recently came to watch the UFC fight and I had no complaints, just that modelo was on the menu but not available. I'm came to watch the canelo fight now bc of how my wife and I enjoyed watching the UFC fight but they had the lights off like if it was a movie and the lights were on during the UFC fight. The subtitles were also on and you couldn't see the time or round...Definitely recommend the lights on during fights and no subtitles. And again modelo on the menu but not available....please add modelo to the menu!!! read more

I will not be back. First of all they charge $4.00 for iced tea with no refills. The $4 is a lot but it is a theater so not a shock. It was the no refills that ticked me off. Everyone gives free refills on Iced Tea. My wife and I both ordered pizzas and the young lady even repeated them both back to us. Her pizza came and after 10 minutes I asked about mine and the same girl said we only ordered one. I ended up getting mine long after she had finished. I must say, I am not a fan of their pizzas. It was dark so I could tell for sure but either it had no sauce or the sauce just did not have any flavor. It was our 1st and last visit. read more
