The cinnamon rolls are HUGE! They put Dunkin or anyone else to shame... The donuts are very "sugary" vs fluffy, I guess is how to describe them. I think they are too much for me, but maybe its because I ate too many at once? Overall very good and I will probably be back to try again. read more

My coworkers and I love the donuts here. Especially the donut holes. Soooo soft and fluffy. Their ham and cheese croissant warmed up is SO good! I get that for breakfast every once in a while! The donuts are okay, nothing great but not bad, but do not get the milk tea with boba. That was gross. It's my fault, I don't know why I thought the milk tea might be good at a donut shop but I was craving it and was hoping for better results than what I got. I stopped by Star Donuts to pick up a few treats today. My favorite is their bacon maple long john. They were out but offered to make some up fresh. I'm not a regular customer, just occasional, so was amazed when they offered. I would go there more often but attempt to watch the calorie intake! I highly recommend Star Donuts. Our family loves Star Donuts. Their donuts are light, fluffy, and have the perfect amount of sweetness. The size is generous and selection is great. There is definitely a donut everyone can enjoy. They even have plain cake and buttermilk donuts. The service is always wonderful. We're always greeted and treated kindly. They have a great drink selection; blended drinks and milk/energy in a fridge. I'm not a huge fan of donuts but these were really good. My husband and son love donuts and they liked them too. The donuts were light and airy and had good flavor. We got some glazed donuts, Bavarian cream, a maple long John, and a cinnamon roll. The cream in the Bavarian wasn't too sweet which I enjoyed. I came in skeptical because I wondered how fresh the donuts would be. I grew up in Southern California where we had tons of great traditional donut shops and even more gourmet shops. I have lived in Surprise 16 years now, and haven't found a decent donut! I have driven past STAR here for years and figured it wasn't going to be any better than others. But decided to take a chance last week with my Mom. The guy who waited on me was very pleasant and kind, and to my delight, the donuts were all VERY fresh and tasty!! We tried a maple cake doughnut, a chocolate glazed donut, plain glazed doughnut, old-fashioned donuts and buttermilk. Also I typically suffer acid reflux after eating almost any donuts due to the poor quality, cheap soy oil most donut shops use and many reuse and don't keep clean enough. And in college I was a baker and a doughnut maker and know that if you don't change out your oil it really affects the quality of your donuts. So I only indulge once in great while to avoid adverse digestive reaction. But to my surprise, I did not get any acid reflux from these donuts!! I ate three or four of them throughout the day, so that is very unusual, and tells me they must be using better quality oil than most donut shops I have tried! The thing I miss most about living in Southern California is the donuts. SoCal has a donut shop on almost every corner fresh and inexpensive. Arizona has a few decent shops, most of them are too far away. I am very excited to have Star Donuts fairly close to my house. The staff was very friendly and efficient, filling orders and moving on to the next customer. The selection was perfect. I do not enjoy the Dunkin idea of having 30 different kinds of donuts, but be out of the popular ones, pick a reasonable selection and have plenty of each on hand. The donuts were excellent, soft, fresh, plenty of flavor, not overly sweet. We had Glazed twists (a houshold favorite), maple bars, blueberry filled, sugar and crumb donuts. All were exacly as they should be. Prices were on par with Arizona donut shops, not the $5.99 a dozen you find in SoCal, but reasonable for here. I though the 10 cents extra charged for filled donuts was a bit silly, but it is pie filling after all and that can be costly. Great shop, welcome to the neighborhood, we will definatley be back. read more
