This Star Market is very conveniently located given I commute via commuter rail to and from North Station daily. When you walk in, you take the escalator downstairs and grocery store is much larger than you would expect. There are full out bakery, deli, dairy, grains, etc sections and an enormous wine/beer/liquor selection as well (this opens after 10am, I think). I really appreciate this Star Market being here because I can quickly pickup breakfast items that I keep at work or dessert to take home. It's nice not to have to jump in my car after I get home and drive out of my way to pick up a quick item or two. The checkout experience is also good - there are a lot of self check-out stations so no waiting in line. Overall, clean and very easy to pop in and out. read more

This is an amazing place right near North Station. I was exploring the North End and wanted to pick up some things. I walked inside through the Starbucks and saw the huge selection. Then I noticed there was a downstairs area which was filled with even more options. As a non-local I love going to grocery stores in different cities to see all the local options available. There is a huge beer and liquor selection available. I was checking out all the local New England beers. If I had more time here I would have loved to try them. I even found the infamous Dunkin Spiked drinks here. That is how you know you are in Boston. I only wish this store was closer to where I stayed in Cambridge. Here today! On our route it was suggested that we eat at Star Market! "Star Market, what's to eat in there?! Our trainer stated "Trust me, there's plenty to eat in there. Just wait, you'll see". I gave him the evil eye, thinking to myself I JUST MET YOU! Ok, so as we're walking he tells us to TRUST him again. He states we have to walk through the parking garage to get to the market, it's a short cut. The trainer gives us a quick history on this histrionic building, it's where the Celtics won the Championship against the Mavericks which was upstairs and underneath the building is the commuter train. So we reach the Market and inside was FOOOD! He pulls me over to the refrigerated section where already premade salads and sandwiches was, then he pulled my collar to where the steam table and salad bar was. Yall should have seen how wide my eyes got, I was like a kid in a candy shop. What caught my eye was seeing how clean, clear and inviting everything looked. After putting little bit of this in my salad, a little bit of that on my salad I was good at $9.99 a pound. I was disappointed to discover they did not have a fountain drink station, I had to ask a customer was what I saw was all there was because the guy that was stocking ignored me even when I I asked in Spanish. Fine I thought, I chose an ice tea and trotted over to the self checkout where my coworker was. I see him with a bag of pastries, "Hey, where you get that from". He points, ignoring me too cause he too was excitedly hungry after fixing his salad. I go over to the pastry section and now my mouth dry, taste buds yelling at me, stomach growling. Ok, ok since they (my hunger pains) was rushing me I choose my favorite a BLUEBERRY muffin! Ok so I dash across the store to the self checkout, as I'm setting my food down on the weigh machine a store employee tells me to MOVE TO ANOTHER MACHINE because he needed to do a price check. I freeze to comprehend what he TOLD me to do because of his tone. I'm starring to see if something wrong with machine because he orders me off the register again stating he needed to do a price check. AFTER I gave him some TEXAS attitude, I speeded over to a cashier. Eating on the bus, that salad was just as good as a T-bone steak, I was mmm,mming and smacking like my grandson when he eats. 4 stars because of the RUDENESS of the staff. Here today! Huge supermarket underneath North Station. They have the biggest aisles I've ever seen filled and fully stocked + they had the items in stock which my hometown grocery store did not have. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend heading downstairs to check it out. read more

Star Market is a grocery chain with their newest and possibly largest location newly opened at 90 Causeway Street in Boston, Ma. Although it's physical address is Causeway Street, the entrance is actually on Legends Way. It is located in The Hub development area adjacent to the TD garden and North Station. Today marks its first week opening; last was Friday grand opening. This is definitely an affordable grocery as well as lunch spot when compared to the nearby Whole Foods food and the Boston Public Market. It's not of the same quality and caliber as the other two but definitely much easier on the pocket. It is deceivingly small when you walk in through the door since it shares space with a Starbucks. There is a quick grab and go selection of Regina's pizza, hot subs, a few sushi items and poke bowl, snacks and drinks on the first floor. Then there is an escalator leading down to the larger even grander store below. You have a whole underground supermarket. There is a hot entree buffet, salad bar, sushi stand, hot pizzas, Asian foods, flower section, bakery, seafood, poultry, dairy, fruits and vegetables, home items, alcohol section, everything you could think of. There is a pharmacy as well. The salad and soup bar has some basics items. Not that huge of a selection but decent enough. It does gets busy around lunch time however there is cashier strategically placed with two cashier running to help with the line just for four. There is also a small seating area if you want to eat quickly in store. I was able make my own custom salad with a little of everything for approximately $5. This is probably a better option than the pre-made salad. There is also a hot entree buffet with mashed potato, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato , chicken ziti, pulled pork, chicken, and more. I have tried and liked the Italian flavored fried chicken from the hot entree buffet. My husband thought the bbq chicken wings was too sweet but my son liked it as well as the chicken tenders. I found the chicken to be a bit dried out. This was also true with their original flavor rotisserie chicken. I think this was because the chicken hung out beneath heated lights to stay warm but for too long? The bakery section is also significant in size. There are muffins and danish for breakfast. There was also cupcakes frosted like a unicorn, sunflowers, and other autumn themed designs. The is perfect for office parties and not bad at $1.29 each. You can also get different sized cakes, unicorn design also available again. I have to say that the market sushi here is more affordable and probably better tasting than the ones at Wholes food. I haven't tried the poke bowl but have also heard positive reviews from my coworkers. You get a lot of options for $10 and under. Lobster roll at $10 was meaty and with a decent bun. The beer, wine, and hard liquor selection is huge. It reminded me of Wegmans in Medford but even grander. How grand? They have Louis XIII selling for $3,500. I guess my Christmas/New Year alcohol shopping can be done here. You can easily get lost in this store for half an hour like an IKEA. See my pictures! read more

My sister and I came here for a short grocery list but walked out with two bags full of vegetables, cheese, and more. This place is well organized with a generous amount of options to pick from. Upon walking through the produce section, I did find some with mold or shriveled because of how old they are. I do hope they had intentions of making rounds of their own so that nobody accidentally buys it and gets sick. The workers we spoke to were nice and willing to direct us when needed. If in the area, I would come again but be warned of check the quality of the items before buying. read more

This is the best pharmacy in the downtown core of Boston. Why? 1. Attentive staff 2. Helpful - will assist with vacation override for more medication if traveling 3. They remember you. 4. They answer the phone 5. Pleasant and friendly. This seems like a basic list but I have been treated rudely and ignored at competitors in the area. I walk past 3 other drug stores to go to this one. About 5 days ago at the Star Market at Causeway Street in Boston, MA, there is an employee who was stocking frozen foods and he was very rude to say an obscene word which is very disgusting when he accidentally dropped some frozen foods on the floor which was very annoying. I put a complaint online against that employee and they replied to me by emails about solving the problem by calling me by phone and they never contacted me by phone to solve the problem. This is to show me that they don't care about customers. Shame on the managers for not caring. Very disorganized supermarket. read more

This is a really nice Star Market. For starters, it is HUGE! There are very large variety of products and you certainly can get all sorts of groceries here. I love that there is a great variety and it is so much better than the surrounding grocery stores. The prices are surprisingly decent based on the location. There is a Deli, butcher, seafood section, plenty of frozen options, fresh options and plants. Other benefits, they have a rewards program (like any Shaws or Stars Market), you can turn in your SODA STREAM there too! There is a machine near the cashers that allow to put in your empty cannister and gives you a voucher for another. I do really like this place, I just wish it was closer to where I live. A few areas they can improve on. There was only one person working both the butchers and the seafood section. It lead to a line and a longer than expected wait time. The workers aren't exactly the most friendly but they are at the very least professional. I will certainly be back! read more

This is one of the best kept secrets in the Boston area. Right at the North Station MBTA line, it makes it easy to whisk in and whisk out with your items quickly. lots of self service checkouts, and helpful, friendly associates and managers to assist. They even have an upstairs mini convenient market for grab and go items if you're running to the subway or commuter rail. Just keep in mind no outside food or beverages if going into the TD garden. There's also a full lunch and dinner buffet, (priced by the pound) (use the scales at the register) - and a Pizzeria regina downstairs. There's a huge liquor selection with beer, wine, and IPAs. Just about anything you could ask for. The store is never super crowded, like some markets, and its easy to get around and find things. I would give zero stars if I could. The staff is incredibly incompetent and rude. There are literally three people who are nice there. They treat minorities and the disabled like subhuman beings. They overcharged me $40 for grocery delivery. They ran out of a few things and they charged me for them anyway. Then manager Marvin Avila did everything he could with tons of lies to prevent me from getting my money back. I should have called my bank. What happened at their pharmacy was beyond belief. I take a medication that is extremely dangerous to suddenly stop. it was due on a Friday. they run into a problem and they didn't think it was a good idea to let me know. I wanted to pick it up on Saturday I was going to be in the area and there was nothing I could d. they did not have the medication and if they alerted me on Friday versus instead of saying nothin, I may have been able to get help I could not on a weekend. my health was put on risk and the pharmacist was stupid enough not to see the problem and do the right thing. tell me that Friday about the problem with my medication and the insurance. did not ap. did not answer when I asked her why she didn't let me know right away (I was on my way and my intuition told me I should call first even though it was contra intuitive as if there was a problem they should have called me) She couldn't understand the problem that was self evident even when I tried to explain it to her three times. with any medication but especially a medication that is dangerous to suddenly stop, she should have informed me of the problem right away. especially considering the next day was Saturday. she treated me horribly, she refused to give me her name. believe me I know that if I ask as a customer her name she has to give it to me. not knowing her name is going to make it harder for me to report her to the pharmacist bureau/medical professions. I called the manager who treated me even worse and kept interrupting me. he refused to listen. he kept defending her even though he said four times 'I don't know what you're trying to say'. If he didn't know what I was trying to say, how come he was so sure the pharmacist was right. I called CVS and they offered to help me. If there are other options available like other pharmacies, don't take the risk of getting a problem in this place. CVS is A much more busy pharmacy and they stopped everything they were doing and helped me calling Osco and mediated for me. Osco did not want to help. They had to be talked into it by CVS. People should be able to have a pharmacy they can trust in an emergency. Osco isn't. People should be able to trust their supermarket, star market took advantage of me refusing to refund the $40 dollars they promised to refund, wasting time taking advantage of me being ill at the time so I could not even dispute it with the bank. Since then I have not shopped there anymore. I have spent over $30,000 worth in groceries elsewhere. I will never go back to the pharmacy either so they're loosing more money than if they did the right thing. Of course what the pharmacist did with the medication negligence could've cost my life if it wasn't for the intervention of CVS. The pharmacist is getting a legal complaint. Neither Star Market or it's Pharmacy can be counted on in case of an emergency. They are not good at their job and then is the horrible way they treat people. They never listen or apologize or care. I have a lot of neighbors who don't shop there anymore either or have their prescriptions there anymore. Don't count on them in case of emergency. Emergencies can happen any time. read more

I love this location. It's huge and they always have what I'm looking for! They also have so much alcohol, and plenty of vegan options.

We live in Charlestown and would frequent the market periodically but not exclusively before the pandemic. We decided that star mkt causeway would become our go to mkt exclusively because of the cleanliness, well stocked and you have both a butcher shop and full service deli. We decided no longer to walk or park in the street due to the amount of groceries we were purchasing. We pulled in to the garage and were thrilled at first at the ease of being able to get in and out. Surprise, surprise when we were charged $15.00 dollars to park for 1/2 hour. No parking validation at all from the mkt.. sadly I think we no longer can frequent this mkt. $15.00 dollars is just too rich. I really hope management can come upon with some sort of solution. read more

So this is a very large supermarket in North Station by Boston Garden as other posters have said, the neighborhood has changed here very much since I worked here in 2001--lots of new high end apartment buildings and so there is a good amount of base business for a supermarket. I've visited here twice before to figure out if they carried certain non-dairy cheese, they do have a very small section but not the brand I was looking for, another brand but not the item, etc. That being said they seem to have a lot of gluten free items, I just happened to note them, not specifically looking for them. The top floor is grab and go and there is an adjacent Starbuck's. The lower floor is the full service market including flowers/florist and a Pizza Regina special counter for pizza. They have a liquor license and so a large section including coolers with beer, hard seltzer, and all the current alcoholic trendy beverages. I did not visit deli, meet, cheese or other specialty counters or departments I had a small list b/c I had an errand nearby, I found everything on my list. The prices are on par high for the city although some items were on sale but still it is on the higher side. The store was clean and I was here early, staffers were stocking. As Star/Osco Alum I'll say this for the staff, the stock people were nice, in the jam/jelly section one guy was restocking and apologized for blocking the way and I said no problem he was just doing his job. They have a large self check out area, and I had to search for an open register as I have difficulty using self check outs. The cashier asked about a bag, per Boston rules and I said no I had my own and handed it to the bagger. I was polite and said please and thank you per usual, and again to the bagger when I was leaving/she was putting away my basket. Outside I realized I did not have my phone, and went back thinking perhaps I left it. Was in a bit of a panic, cashier did look at me and shrug--she was not ringing, manager cashing her out ignored me, and the bagger glared at me. Fortunately phone was at the place/where I had my previous errand, and I understand they are in the city and deal with a variety of challenging folks all the time but again as alum of Star/Osco in Eastie in the late 80's (where it was rough on a regular basis) I'd have to say it was pretty awful to not acknowledge a customer/at least give a superficial assist/of some sort. Prices more reasonable than Roche Brothers or Whole Foods. Also has lots of booze to keep old Stinky smiling. Never seems overly busy...and if a like forms at checkout...will usually open another register to keep things moving. The staff is very pleasant and efficient. Health department alert: I counted FOUR dogs inside this store and they were NOT guide or therapy dogs, but pets and puppies of shoppers. One had its nose in the produce. People, check the health regulations and leave dogs outside. read more

This place recently opened at the Hub has been a convenient location for us living in north end area but they have let us down by not replenishing fresh products at vegetable and bakery sections. Over last couple of months, we have accidentally picked up peppers and greens that are expiring on the same day or damaged in their packages and we needed to throw away. If you look carefully that the majority of greens are "best by" the date of your purchase or day before if you are unlucky. Their dinner rolls we purchased was expired and went moldy literally next day. It is dissapointing to see that it's our responsibility to make sure their food is not going bad while they claim to produce fresh products our of their bakery/vegetables. If you are going there for bakery or veggies look for expiration date and thoroughly look for any damage or mold! read more

AVOID THIS STARK MARKET! The customer service is horrendous. The workers who work at the meat, sub, and pizza station act like they are high and don't have a care in the world. I walked up to place an order and three people walked past me without taking my order. I waited about 10 minutes and decided it wasn't worth it. The time before, I got a sub and the worker was ridiculously slow. I'm almost sure that guy was high. This took about 10 minutes as well to make a 6 inch sub... All I can say is that you should avoid this star market unless you like to waste your time and get shitty service. read more

My friend and I have both received non-perishable items That we opened and discovered mold in some, expiration dates of 2019 on other items, and a few stale boxes cereal with current expiration.
