Lots of street noise from nearby establishments and a very busy road made sleeping difficult until late in the evening. The bedding is not high quality and there were not extra pillows. Small rooms with minimal amenities and nobody on site. It was fine for a last-minute stay where we didn't want to spend too much but I'll definitely be looking for another option next time I'm in town. read more

The overnight stay was far less than stellar. There's a gap in the door. Cold air streamed in. The road noise is miserable (cars, people talking, very early landscape crew, big trick slamming down the lift gate) making it impossible to sleep. The refrigerator also makes loud noise when the compressor kicks on. The odor from whatever they use in the air is also in the bedding. If you have breathing issues or a sensitive sense of smell, you'll regret staying at the Star Motel. The room appears clean, at first. It's not! The bathroom is dirty! You can use a clean damp anything to wipe the floor and baseboards, it will be brown or black. IF you do decide to stay at the Star Motel, if you call the number for reservations you'll pay a booking fee. Reservations is a booking company. Call the motel directly if you don't want to pay the booking fee. I do not recommend this motel. read more

The smell of chemicals in the room, in the bedding and in the towels permeates everything, including my luggage and its contents. I stayed one night and I am still experiencing a sore throat and a headache from the exposure to the overwhelming horrible odor of the strong chemical smell. I called the week before my stay and asked for a room with no scent or chemical odors. The woman who I spoke to said she would pass it on. This was ignored. I left feedback about the strong chemical odor with the management directly upon checking out and did not receive any type of acknowledgment or reply. I would not recommend this motel especially if you have asthma or any type of breathing issues. read more

What a pleasant surprise. Booked this not knowing the area and to our surprise, it was right in uptown Sedona. Right where the shops ended, the motel was. Only six rooms with parking in front. Rooms are small but very comfortable. Bed was cozy and the pillows amazing. It has all you need other than space. The good thing is you park your car right in front of your room, so what we did was unpack essentials and put the large suitcases in the car until we needed them. The view is impeccable. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I wish I could leave 0 stars. The Star Motel ruined my vacation and anniversary. Summary: they refused to fix multiple issues (electric, parking) and harassed us, lied to the police, and promised a refund they then backtracked on. The motel advertises parking, but just lets anyone park wherever - which was annoying because we had to park down the block and carry our stuff. Just not what we expected again, due to the advertised parking under amenities. We called and asked for the car in the spot to be moved, and they said no. Next, we had electric issues. We called again, and the lady who answered (receptionist maybe?) was super flustered and not helpful. Kept telling us to just leave then. Where are we going to go at 10 pm in a tourist city? The owner called us (from California) and yelled at us that he had family visiting and we ruined their evening meal. Yes, because we called to complain about electrical issues and parking. He also ruined our dinner reservations plans, and we asked if he could switch us to another room (they said they were fully booked but online I could still book many other rooms), the owner told us to leave and again we said that wasn't right and wasn't fair. The owner SCREAMED at us on the phone, and bullied us, before making himself the victim. He kept repeating how we were ruining HIS evening. Like ????? We were ruining HIS night by again, simply asking for help??? It was outrageous and he tried to make us small and push us around, and when that didn't work he told us to leave l, knowing that wasn't a fair solution. His wife also repeatedly called and said we were dressing them out and causing "drama". Again, because we complained about the broken stuff and the lack of parking !?! No offer was made of money off, or any other compromise or anything to fix this situation. I said they could book us something else, but that we had no other options and we would stay the night and to please leave us alone if they cannot fix the issues. That was the last convo I had with the owners. It ended ona frustrated, but calmer note. Funnily enough, they called the police and said we were fighting with other tenants and doing damage. How crazy!!! The officers knocked on the door and we answered - me in fluffy pajamas and my partner in a towel! After a stressful couple of minutes, we explained the situation and the officers ended up being pretty nice (but a little weird and uncomfortable my partner). They talked with us for a while and told us to stay the evening. Still, super mentally traumatizing as my partner is a minority and felt like they singled him out - asking for his ID and separating us for questioning. We found out they essentially LIED TO THE POLICE to get them there and wasted their time and further wrecked our evening. At this point we felt bullied, harassed and just exhausted from everything. To call the police on a minority for complaining about stuff is just... so insane. I really thought people weren't like this in real life, and the police were for emergencies, but they lied to the cops and had two young adults scared shitless - especially the MINORITY one. The place has cameras! We filed a police report too for harassment and they are looking into it. I didn't want to escalate this, but the owners left us with no choice :( Cheap place, small rooms. If stuff is broken, you're Shit Out of Luck. And they agreed to refund us in full over the phone and didn't. I've never had a run in with the police before, and while (hopefully) it'll be a funny memory in a decade, it was scary, and stressful and ruined the first evening of our vacation. My partner is not over it and it has This was the WORST experience I had ever had travelling. My partner and I are both mid to late 20s, and we were being yelled at by middle aged adults. We tried everything - to get help, to move rooms, and then said we would suck it up for the night and touch base tomorrow. The last thing I said was "please stop contacting me, you've already taken up too much of my time and I just want to try and enjoy my vacation". I can add a video of the cops knocking on our door... or the motel can! I'd love to share it because it really is just so insane the owners lied to them and harassed us like this. I pointed out the cameras the owners had to the cops too and showed them (declined) repeated phone calls. If you read this owners, please do the right thing and fix some of the damage you have caused me and my partner mentally and emotionally and just refund us. read more

What a gem. The owners have carefully chosen amenities to make a stay truly comfortable: Big, fluffy pillows, warm comforters, special teas and coffees, ample towels, deluxe soap and shampoo. I have been so impressed with this motel. We've spent several nights here and absolutely love it here. We can always count on a comfortable clean room and amazing staff. The part I love is how everything is online including check in and check out it makes it so simple and convenient. Before Covid there would be a person on site to greet you and help you out but, it's nice that they found a way to stay in business through Covid. The location is awesome with it being close to the shops and restaurants so walking isn't difficult at all. We look forward to spend a few nights again in the fall when it's less busy and not so hot. read more

Literally within steps on all the best parts of downtown Sedona, so we got to walk to all the restaurants and shops right from our hotel room. The room we had came with a full kitchen. Everything was clean and trendy. Check in was ridiculously easy and staff was friendly. We had a second story room so our views were sweeping of the mountains. I feel like this is the best kept secret in all of Sedona. People are paying two or three times as much for resorts that fall short. This place was phenomenal from start to finish. read more

This was our last stop on our AZ road trip. We stayed in big chain hotels and motels, but Star Motel was the most comfortable bed we slept in. Room #1 The pillows were amazing and soft. The bath towels were nice and big. The shampoo and conditioner provided were wonderful tea tree. Smart TV was excellent and the coffee was delicious. We would have liked a booboo fan in the bathroom. And a stronger heater for the chili 17° night. Overall we will definitely stay here again. Check-in and check-out were easy and convenient. read more

There are those people who want the predictability of the chain hotels. Then there are the of us who are looking for an experience when we travel. We chose the star motel in beautiful uptown Sedona. Mostly, it was because of the location- you can get your coffee, your dinner, your drinks, your aura reading, and your healing stones, with a short walk from your motel room. (holy cow, how many crystal stores can one town support anyway??) We like to see a place on foot, and Sedona doesn't have much in the way of walking districts- but luckily, this is one of them. We didn't expect much from the room at first, but whoever running the place has an eye, and a serious sense of style. This isnt your average roadside motel. Its a cozy cool little stop thats a welcome BREAK from the monotony of the chain places, but with all the comforts you still kinda want. Like super plush bedding, grade A toiletries, FAST internet, fridges, coffee and teakettle, and super friendly managers and staff members. Apparently the place is under new ownership and it shows- you can see the upgrades in the works, and I can hardly wait to see what they do to the place. We'll be back to find out! BTW - we stayed in the Libra room. Room 9 (the rooms are all named after star signs) and if you want to be tucked away in the back, away from the street and noise, this is the room to book. we loved it. slept like a baby! read more

This is the best place to stay in Sedona. Add to this that there are probably no other places to stay in the area that are more reasonably priced (I was in the lobby as a tourist was explaining her in-depth research on the subject to the excellently mannered front counter lady). It's right downtown and you can walk anywhere plus you get to park your car right outside the door to your room. If you are looking for a very reasonably priced place to stay in the tiny hamlet of Sedona, then the Star Motel is the place for you. Aside from being reasonably priced, it is very close to town. Just a few feet from the main drag actually. We stayed at the Star Motel for the second half of our Arizona adventure. It is definitely a no frills type place. You basically get a bed, bathroom, and tv. Nothing more than that. But why would you need more than that while visiting Sedona? Since there were 3 of us, we stayed in room 11, which is in the back of the motel. It has a queen bed and a twin bed in separate rooms. Perfect for a small traveling family like ours. My daughter was in heaven because she had her own tv. Another added bonus was that we had a nice little patio off of our room. Perfect for sharing a bottle of wine and looking at the scenery. Or having a morning cup of coffee. If you are looking for the comfort and luxury of the Ritz Carlton, then the Star Motel isn't for you. If you are just looking for a comfortable bed and a clean room, then the Star Motel is for you. read more

5 stars for location. It's great for 1 night maybe 2 but doesn't have amenities as other resorts which was fine with us as we were only staying fir 1 night. My only issues is staff walking INTO our room well before check out in the morning. They said they were checking to see if we were leaving it if we were staying but so inappropriate to walk into someone's room without giving them an opportunity to open the door. They did knock however we're opening up the door at the same time. If you stay here, ensure your have that too latch on at all times. I would recommend the owners look into a better option for their staff to know the rooms are empty. Otherwise, great location. read more

The Star Motel is a great find in Sedona! We've stayed here on two occasions and you really would be hard pressed to find a better value in town. It's right in the heart of the action, and provides simple but clean accommodations with some excellent perks - like free parking, mini fridges, flat screen TVs, and even a microwave! The actual rooms are old, but clean. Being such an old property, I was a little surprised at the $180+ per night room rate for a midweek accommodation. I guess they can justify their rates due to their central location. Upon returning to our room at 4 pm, we were surprised that the room had not been cleaned and made up. The manager advised they no longer clean the rooms or provide clean towels.... due to the Covid. It would appear the Star Motel is just another establishment that is using the Covid situation as an excuse for reducing their labor costs and poor service. If they are that concerned, perhaps they should stay closed, or at least reduce their rates. read more

This is the perfect location for your stay in Sedona, especially if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the numerous activities available. This room has the essentials, and nothing extra. Since its remodel in the past couple of months, there have been new TVs added and new beds/linens. There is a microwave and fridge, and a small counter-space, next to an even smaller bathroom (with even less counterspace, but some shelves) , which I found to be perfectly adequate. I LOVED my stay. Check in was a breeze as all the information I needed was provided the day before, such as the code for the keypad to enter the door. It was quintessential for Sedona. I would recommend bringing your own pillows if you like soft pillows. The new ones they provide are quite firm. read more

Not a good choice at all. Was expecting a nicely updated mid-century motel and it was not anywhere what we expected for the price of nearly $200 per night. Sedona isn't inexpensive but this was ridiculous. Not even a table in the room to set a cup of coffee down. Management clearly has a low cost operation going as the lobby is never open and only the cleaning staff is around in case u need anything. I wish I could post a photo of the view from our room. We highly recommend !! Amazing little secret of a motel! My husband and I were ending our 2 week vacation journey here. We had spent time in several different locations/hotels mostly Best Western Hotels. The Best Western here was asking close to $300! We looked on Yelp and found this jewel for only $115!! Sold! Yes we were able to park right outside our room! Sweet! Susan at the front desk was so kind and helpful. The room was clean! Updated. Close to everything in town. Nice walk. Great views right outside our room. Quiet! .....Other than....We stayed on a Tuesday night and were awoken by a garbage truck at 3:30 AM. The room was a bit small but quaint. AC worked perfectly. Refrigerator worked well also. They have larger rooms. We called one day prior and they were mostly sold out of rooms. It worked very well for us. :-) We had breakfast down the street at the Wildflower Bread and Bakery. That was excellent! I'll do a Yelp review for them also. This cute, little motel has big benefits! Prime location (right in the heart of Sedona so walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc and just a few miles to all the great hikes and other activities), great price, super comfy bed (inquiring now about the bed linens so I can buy them online), free parking, large new TV with access to prime channels, WiFi, nice toiletries, great water pressure, coffee pot (seems like some motels are not providing anymore), fridge and microwave. The staff was very nice and also sent a reminder email that included recommendations. It's a small room (I believe it was built in the 50s) but how much space do you really need ;) My only suggestion is add at least one night stand and a luggage stand. Since there's no closet, hooks or dresser my stuff was sprawled out all over the floor. I would definitely stay here again! read more

This hotel was very disappointing. The reviews of it were misleading. The last review posted was several months ago so that should have been a red flag. It is run remotely so there's no one there to help you or answer questions. List of issues: Front window blind wouldn't roll up. Leaky a/c unit leaked on headboard and mattress. No one on site to help or answer questions. No night stand. Used outside chair and breadboard to put cpap on. No chairs to sit on other than uncomfortable plastic bar stool type chairs. Heater turned off and on every 2-3 minutes - maddening. didn't adequately warm room. In the 3 days we were there no maid service or offer of fresh towels or anything. Michael (owner?) advised of problem with blind and leaky a/c and said would send someone out next day. Next day he texted and said handyman's wife had emergency medical issue. No communication from him following day. Last day there nothing had been taken care of. I never do reviews but this motel and service was so crappy I felt compelled to share.
