Under new ownership, and man is it bad! I have been coming here for many years and had had nothing but quality, good customer service, and a nice atmosphere. With the previous owners, those things are all gone. I got a manicure which I do regularly, and the person was very sloppy, and did not clean under my nails, which they didn't need much, and did not cut or file my nails, so many were different lengths than others. What's up with that?! She then slathered some oil on my hands and said OK you're done. All in all, about 6/7 minutes and $25! The person at the front desk looks and acts like she'd rather be anywhere else, but there and is not very nice. The inside has been changed and it looks very cheap and disorganized. I absolutely love this place. The service is great. I have been here twice and will continue to cross over the border from WI to IL. David does a wonderful job. He is like an artist making my nails such a masterpiece. I have been having the dip powder and I absolutely love the colors that he has chosen both times I have been there. They are always on time as well. This shop is always busy and every single person pays attention to people that come into the shop. I met Nina at the front desk when I came in today for my appointment. She is married to David. I told her that I just loved her husband and that he did such a nice job. My nails last almost 3 weeks. They grow so fast so I like to return after 2.5 weeks. I know I could go longer however I love to change the color. Today I decided to go shorter with my nails since they were so long. I have to use my hands at my job and decided that I needed to go shorter. I did the French dip which is similar to the French manicure however with dip powder. My last manicure I did a bold blue color which actually matches my company color. I work for Fresenius Kabi a German pharmaceutical company. Once I got there they were ready for me and it was a very good pedicure. Massage was longer than most and sitting in the dark quiet room with beautiful images projected on the wall was very relaxing. I really like Star Nails & Spa. I needed a manicure and pedicure last minute and found Star nails open on a Sunday morning. Yay for me! I got in right away after a quick phone call. I was pleasantly surprised as I walked in. The nail salon was cute and clean. The staff were very friendly also. I like feeling welcome when I walk in. The dark back room where the pedicures happen is very unexpected. The dim room with the big tropical mural was very relaxing. The guy that did my nails was quite nice. He was friendly and professional. He provided detailed service and took his time - no rushing. Although they don't carry Essie nail polish, I ended up leaving completely satisfied. Decided to stop in after reading all the great reviews on Yelp. The yelpers were spot on. This place is very clean and affordable. The service is top notch. I was disappointed by other nail chop shops in the area so I checked Yelp for a better alternative. About the pedicure: The pedicures are done in a darker room like shown in the pictures. They have mostly OPI polish on a nice stand with the names labeled so if you're like me - this makes picking your color much easier. They use bags in the foot spa to keep them clean for each person and new tools in the package per person as well. The foot massage was great with hot oil. Tatiana was super friendly which was really nice too! Overall great job! Will be back with friends! read more

Pros: 1. They take appointments 2. It's clean 3. Nail tech paid attention to detail, polish is flawless Cons: 1. Expensive. When I called to book, I made an appointment for a dip manicure and told them I needed my current dip removed. What I got was a $46 color change. No cuticle work or anything else. No hand massage. Not even lotion. I've never paid this much for a color change. When I checked out, she told me it was an additional $5 for a complete manicure. 2. They are using electric drills to file. It's so easy to damage nails this way and it takes a long time to heal. Even when I politely requested an emery board, they wouldn't do it and were clearly irritated that I asked. 3. This was not a relaxing experience and I did not feel welcome. No one spoke to me or even made eye contact after I asked the nail tech not to use the electric drill. It baffles me that not only was polite request denied, but they clearly did not want me there. I was anxious to leave because I felt so uncomfortable. Overall: I wanted to like this place. It gets such good reviews and is close to my home. It was a strange, expensive, and uncomfortable experience. I won't be back. read more

I came to Star Nails for a pedicure on the basis of positive Yelp reviews. My pedicure was great, the young lady was very professional, caring, did an excellent job. The pedicure room is separated the room is very pleasant, soft music, relaxing experience. Overall, the salon is a very nice place. I gave this review 4 stars instead of 5 because the strong presence of acetone in the front nail room. When the young lady brought me up front to dry my nails, I was overcome with the chemical smell. Perhaps I am just overly sensitive to chemicals, but this place would be greatly improved with better ventilation. read more

I went there before a vacation for a mani-pedi. The woman doing my nails cut me several times while doing my pedi. I told her and she either didn't understand or pretended not to and kept going. A couple days later one of my toes was swollen and very painful. I called Star Nails and was told the owner was out of the country and would call me when she returned. Eventually she called and asked me for a photo which I sent her. She told me she was going to fire the employee and I felt bad and told her I didn't feel that was necessary. She did offer to give me a complimentary pedi to make up for the hack job I received from the employee. When I went to call and schedule she told me the employee claimed she didn't cut me and is refusing to cover the pedi. She told me she wanted me to come in and confront the employee about the incident which was completely inappropriate. I will never go back. read more

Wish I could use a 0 star. I scheduled an appointment to have her nails filled. Regular OPI filling $19. I brought her there and she talked to the man at the door. He told her to pick from a stick. She did. Then she charged my daughter $31. My daughter told her it was a regular opi and she said they used gel instead because it will last longer therefore she has to pay the difference. After talking to 2 people there. The owner called me back and said that that is my daughters story. My daughter is 12 years old and they up sold her without her knowing and told her to call for money or they were pressing charges. read more

Literally the best place to go after a long, hard day at work or school. The manicure station and pedicure station is in separate rooms and there are sliding doors that initiate the separation. The pedicures at this salon is AMAZING! They are very relaxing. In the pedicure room the lights are turned off with a spotlight on your feet, soothing Asian music, a fireplace, quiet, and they really take time to massage your legs and feet. It is my second time here and I love it! I would definitely recommend everyone to come here for a spa pedicure. I'd say the best in Kenosha! I have never had an experience like this and I cannot complain one bit. I have not had a manicure here yet, but If the pedicures are amazing I can only imagine how the manicures feel.
