Normally on a regular day I'd give this place five plus stars because when I normally make appointments I make them with Linh and I am NEVER disappointed. Today I had Tommy. He left my nails uneven and patchy and before I knew it he was done. He didn't talk to me or ask what kind of pedicure I wanted. I will ALWAYS recommend star nails to people and will continue to go there, this one time was just unpleasant. If you do get the option though I would say go with LINH! read more

Absolutely horrible!! Went in yesterday for a full set....I was shocked even first walking in that you had NO CHOICE but to pay for the tools they use!.... Not to mention it is illegal for them to keep those tools and reuse them on you since they cannot be sanitized. They should be reported. I needed my previous set soaked off and a new set put on. They disregarded what i wanted and told me they would not soak them off because they did not want to dry out my cuticles. so instead they ripped them off my fingers and i was in so much pain. then I got passed to another lady in the salon, I told her and over that I wanted them to look as natural as possible. Not thick or fat....she just kept saying "ok OK" she put the white tips all the way down half my fingernail and i kept telling her to make them thinner and she just let the acrylic dry and said she couldn't make them thinner. I told her i didn't want the nails to fray out at all I wanted them lined up with my fingers.....after sitting for an hour she still wouldn't do what i asked and I was just ready to leave. The clear gel coat she put on came out not even fully covering my nails and has bubbles all through it. they are gross!!! I explained to the teenager working the register I was unhappy and was told to go to another lady on a different day because she was the best. No discount not apology NOTHING! I will NEVER go back there and I am not going to recommend anyone else does. My nails today are throbbing and hurt so bad I'm having to ice them! read more

Never Again!!!!!! My girlfriend and I went to star nails asking for a soak off and fresh new full sets of pink and whites. First off they didn't soak the nails off, but rather pried them off using a glue on nail tip and some clippers, which hurt like hell. Secondly both of our sets wound up looking like we had glued chiclets to the tips of our fingers with giant bubbles and demarkation lines under the pink acrylic. Thirdly when we complained about the appearance of our new sets we were told that because we had booked on such short notice they had given us the worst manicurists they had. They then failed to offer any sort of an immediate or returning discount or to fix our nails. I am so surprised that this place had so many good yelp reviews and yet I walked out feeling as though i had just been robbed of $40.00. Amazing! A little pricey but you get your own box with utensils. I took my 5 year old and honestly they charged me $19 for a normal pedicure for her...she didn't take that much time and she definetly didn't use that much product so they should have a pricing for kids. But my gal was great and so attentive. Another thing I didn't like was some woman came up to both of the girls working on us telling them they can't use some scrub anymore.... ummm you had it on your "menu" and isn't that something you should do during a staff meeting and she was so rude in telling the girls...that gave me a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I thought this place would be great based on reviews. My usual nail salon moved locations, so I am hunting for a new one. First off, I was charged mandatory fee of 2 dollars for your own file and scrub. I went there with my grandma, she said her girl was good and took her time on her feet, she got extra treatment on them as well. I got a mani/pedi for $27, my girl kept pushing gel nails or a special treatment to do. When she did my Mani, she put on the lotion last and forgot the clear coat on my nails. When she did my feet, she would not shut up about this owie on my pinky toe, it was skinned from my heels I wore one night (I know it isn't pretty, but you don't need to make a costumer feel uncomfortable). Again forgot a clear coat, and later on that day already have a chipped nail polish on my big toe. I asked her how long she worked there, she said a year... so, I don't know if I got the worst lady, but how could she not get a complaint on her. Bad customer service.... I had an appointment for a pedicure, I checked in sat down and waited to be called. Another lady checked behind me with an appointment. Then another checked on as a walk-in. I sat in the chair for me pedicure, along with the other lady that had an appointment (after me). A few minutes later the walk-in was seated. I sat in the chair 25 minutes without a technician to service me. While the two other ladies had already started to receive service. I went up to the receptionist and asked her, why haven't I started to receive service. She had the dumbest look on her face like she didn't know a technician hadn't come by yet. The receptionist did not offer and customer service as to say "I will get someone right away". She had that dumb oh well look! So, I had that "I'll take my money and business somewhere else look". I took my friend here for her birthday. It was our first time going here and my friend's first time getting a pedi. I wanted it to be a fun experience for her. Very pleased with the service. Our lady did a wonderful job on our pedicures. I like the idea of getting our own box. Very clean. Love the massage pedicure chairs. I was so happy that my friend loved her toe nails, the flower design she chose came out great. I had called and scheduled an appointment for two people, told them what services I had wanted done. When I get there I was like 20 minutes early. So I didn't mind waiting. 30 minutes came after my appointment time, still no chair. So 30 minutes turns into an hour before some one even helped. I let my daughter go and get her nails polish. Still no chair. How is it I make an appointment and still have to wait an hour and more. By the time the guy did finish my daughter nails, it has been an hour and 40 minutes of waiting with an appointment. So horrible. Not once did they say your next or anything. I kindly paid for my daughters nails and then told the lady at the front I don't need services for myself. She was the only one who said, I'm so sorry. Best nail salon in hesperia!! I will never go to another place to get my nails done besides here! Liz is my favorite nail tech! She truly dedicates her time to what she does. I have gone to other places and they are not as clean as star nails. Star nails gives you your own set of buffer and nail fine so you can use for each visit. I went to Star Nails for my very first set of acrylic nails, referred by a friend of my daughter. First off, I could not communicate with the gal who did my nails as she did not speak any English, Spanish only. Although, she had great conversations with others in the shop, in Spanish of course. Ok, so she began by shaving my cuticles, and shaved one of my fingers so close that I began to bleed. Now, I don't know about you others but I don't expect to go to a nail salon to be injured. I went ahead and let her finish anyway, call me a glutton. I left the shop that day with a lot of pain in my fingers as well. So, when it came time for a fill, I went elsewhere. They could not even fill them. They had to take them off and put on a whole new set. This was 2 weeks after having my nails done at Star. Don't think I will be coming back. read more

Literally THE WORST nail salon I have ever been do. I made a yelp just so I could write a review and warn people about this terrible place. I've been getting my nails done for 8+ years and I have never had such a bad experience. The receptionist was very friendly but LILY did my full set and the entire time she was bossing me around, mad because I didn't have my hands placed exactly how she wanted them. She kept hitting and swatting my hands away if my fingers were in the way of her painting or shaping the acrylic. While I was getting up to go to the 'drying station' I bumped my thumb nail on the desk. When I showed her she rolled her eyes and grabbed her head letting out a very loud sigh and yelled at me that I would have to wait. Not only was she extremely rude and unprofessional, my nails turned out hideous and uneven. I am so disappointed it's ridiculous. After 10 mins, I asked how much longer...the receptionist said "about 10-15 more mins." After 15 min I was told to pick a color...I was seated a few mins later in cold stale water. Most of the manicurists here are very good at what they do! Now that I know a couple of manicurists that I like I might begin requesting them. Cleanliness is big for me, and this salon is very clean and kept up well.
