Absolutely terrible service. First the tried to get out of doing the massage portion of the pedicure until I said something. Then during my manicure she cut my nails extremely short and filed them round without asking me what shape I wanted. When I noticed, I told her I wanted my nails square and she said my nails were more round shaped. I've never had such a horrible experience. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

I went to Star nail shop 0n 147st I got a Medi and a pedicure with no chip chrome polish on my nails with no chip on my feet also. I paid $91 for the both . I was gone less than an hour went home wash dishes , The nail polish started chipping off my hand. I had to go right back to the shop, when I showed them my nails they had an attitude. because I told them they had to do them over again with the no chip like I asked them to do. will not be going back there again. I definitely wouldn't recommend. I went in for a fill-in and a pedicure. At first a man began doing my application when an older woman with red hair came and started doing my nails. She came and sat down as he was about to file my nails into a square shape. She didn't finish filing and began to paint my nails. As she is painting my nails, she is getting lots of polish on my actual finger and my nails have WAY too much polish on them. so now my nails look very bulky. i ask her to clean up around my nails and to fix the shape and she catches an attitude and begins to take the polish off my nails. once she gets done she tells me i have to wait 2 hours for someone else since i didn't like it. i politely asked her how much my application was because i was leaving. I paid $65 for my daughter a full set of nails with design. In less than 2 weeks, 8 of the 10 nails broke off. Went in to speak with the owner in hopes of rectifying. The owner said I have to pay $40 plus designs for a new set of nails. Which means I'm paying for a full set of nails again with designs in less than 2 weeks time. She was unwilling to compensate for the inexperienced tech that provided the service. Nor was she willing to correct the issue at a discounted cost. This is BAD BUSINESS!!! If you pay for quality service, it is expected and should be received. Mind you, I also tipped the nail tech. What a shame!!!! I was hoping this was my forever nail salon. Went here with my sister and cousin. We went well before closing and were very nice, however my sister and I's nails did not look good. We were charged more for shape which is normal as I always get coffin, but they didn't charge more for an accent nails. My nails started peeling after a few days which has never happened to me. Also my nails were very flat which isn't normal for acrylics as you need an arch for support on your pressure point of the nail. The day after I got them done my thumb broke. Then the nails kept breaking so I took them all off. Overall every unimpressed with the whole experience. The staff was very nice but the nails were not. read more

Seemed to be under staffed and when I finally got my no chip the paint job was peeling all around cuticles and sides of nails and for $30 I expect way better. Towards the end was the "hand massage" & each had was less than 5 seconds. Obviously they want to finish fast so they can squeeze in as many clients as possible and to make matters worse my middle finger is almost chipped all the way off after three days.. Seriously? I called to see if they were busy on a Thursday afternoon. The woman who answered said no and asked what I needed. I said a full set and pedicure. She said come on in. I said I'm pressed for time, could I have them both done at the same time, she said no, you can have one done and then the other. I asked if I could make an appointment and she hung up on me. I'm here working from CA- I regularly get spa pedicures with gel polish, as well as fills, with gel polish. I guess they don't want a regularly $100+ paying customer. I was here from out of town, needing a fill very badly, and arrived around 5:30 yesterday (Sat 09/21). Although it was busy, a young gentleman (Jason) immediately asked what I needed before seating me at his station. Jason was extremely welcoming, efficient and does fabulous work. I felt human again in no time flat. I noticed the positive vibe around spa; it was busy but not stressful (that says a lot about the employees). It was on a Monday and there were just 3 ppl working there: an older gentleman and 2 older ladies. The tech took care of some ingrowns which was painful. So I've been going to this nail salon for about 2 years now. Never have I complained about the service that I receive. The service that they provide at this establishment is mediocre. My nails are almost always un even, spots are missed, they crack and break after a few days and I always have to get them re done weekly. When I go for a fill in they have to take my nails off and completely re do them. My nails are never perfect and they always nickel-and-dime me. I only went to this place because they have reasonable prices. I never feel good after leaving this shop. I don't know why I have continued to give this place my business. RecentlyI learned a valuable lesson. I will never again go to this place or any place like it.The staff here are extremely rude and disrespectful. Yesterday was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a salon. I always see Tina When I visit the shop. Tina does an okay job but I feel like Tina can do a better job. My last two visits I've been seeing Tina's father who is the owner of this nail salon. Tina's father does a better job. He looked saw what he missed and filled it in and told me thank you. As he continued to do my nails I noticed that several other nails were missing spots where acrylic should have been. I asked him to fix another nail and he snapped at me. He told me that I was too picky and that he did not want to work with me again. He also began to snatch my hands saying that I was to stiff and I needed to loosen up. He then said something to Tina in his native language language. I wanted to get up and walk away but he was already halfway done with my nails. After a few moments he fixed my nails and asked me did they look okay with a nasty attitude. I told him that they look nice and he usually does a good job that's why I've been coming to him lately. I told him that I didn't appreciate him disrespecting me I have the right to point out any flaws in my nails because I'm paying for them. I told him that I always tip them above what I should. He told me that he did not care about my tip and that he was tired and I'm way too picky. I told him that I would never visit his shop again and I will write a bad review on Yelp. Once he finished my nails I gave him a tip and left. He had a look on his face as if he knew he was wrong. There is a place that I go to now on 106th and Ridgeland which is way better and dar The Services are much neater and the people are nicer. This guy clearly doesn't know customer service. I had the mother doing my nails, and after she put the tips on I realized they were too short, so i asked her to make them longer for her to complain to me. I get that it's frustrating, but I'm still paying them to be doing my nails, so i shouldn't be getting criticized for asking for a different length. She cut the nails down, and ended up gluing tips on top of the other tips, which are now making it impossible to get the nails off due to there being an excess of acrylic. I had a very short wait and was again greeted by the lady name Judy who was going to do my pedicure, she was very professional and made sure I was comfortable. Almost every time I got my nails done they looked sloppy and didn't last and it always smells strong of food in there which is a turn off.

Horrid!!! I'm never one to complain or write bad reviews, but this was by far the worst "gel" fill-in that I had ever gotten. I say "gel" because usually my nails dry in less than 5 minutes and I sat there for 15 mins under the dryer and left with wet nails. I don't think the tech even used a gel. It was just a clear nail polish slopped on after the chunky couple coats of regular nail polish. I doubt the guy is even a licensed technician. Not only did I have wet nails HOURS after my session, but they are completely misshaped. Nail polish all over my fingers and around the nails. The thinnest layer of powder and liquid mixture I've ever seen. Surely I'll end up with a few broken nails. When I left I told them I honestly don't even want to pay for them. I asked them how much they thought my manicure was worth. They offered to fix it, but I had already sat there for two hours between the fill-in and waiting for my nails to dry! I said no thank you, I don't have time. The only positive thing I can say about this place was that the staff was very friendly, but I will never come back here! Even if they offered me a free manicure/pedicure session, I would politely decline. read more
