Upon arriving we were not greeted. We arrived 20 minutes late and notified the owner of our arrival. One person in our group decided not to get her nails done however the owner was LIVID and demanded that she pay for the "service" and she had the nerve to ask for a tip... if someone is not getting a service why would they tip.They were unprofessional and down right con artist. I try to support black business. When I tell you I was happy to find a black owned nail salon that's not too far from my house and they allow you to make appointments via online I was hooked. I do want to mention, I didn't hesitate making the appointment because they have good reviews via Yelp and Facebook. Now, I said all that to say I had a no chip service done Thursday, may 24th. The service was great and my nail stylist was kind, funny and very sweet. My nails looked beautiful (I chose a purple glitter color) I got lots of compliments from my colleagues, friends and family about how pretty my nail color glossed on my nails. By day 5 I noticed some form of cracking from the nail polish on both of my thumbs. I thought, "I can live with it." Day 7 (Thursday) l saw the cracking of nail polish was on both my index and my middle fingers. I got off work around 7pm that day and went to the website to retrieve the number so I can call the salon to discuss the issue with my nails. The website read, the salon closed at 6pm. I figured to call the next day when they open (Friday 10:15am) I placed the call in the afternoon (12pm-ish) explained to the receptionist the issue with my nails and she said "since this is a week past the date of your service, the salon charges $5 per a nail to repair the service. Yelpers, I have 6 nails that need a repolish. Why would I pay an additional $30 on top of the no chip service I paid 8 days ago? This left a bad taste in my mouth about the salon. Should you get nail sevice, be sure to ask about their nail repair costs upfront so that you know exactly what you're purchasing should an issue arise. read more

Coming here felt more like a visit with my girls than going to get a service done. Cherry H was my tech and she did a beautiful job on my hands and feet. I took a chance on a nail salon and lost. Big time. I was a bit leery of trying another, especially after only reading reviews online. But a chance I did take. And I'm so glad I did. Shic Nail Boutique is fabulous. The staff is professional and pleasant. There is always a greeting at my entrance. The first thing I notice is there is a notable lack of "nail salon smell". Rather there is a sweet aroma in the air. After I check in, the receptionist invites me to pick out a bath salt with a custom scent made by the salon. At any given time there are at least 5 or six to pick from, with one being specifically for men. Next, I'm greeted by my nail stylist who invites me into the warm atmosphere of the actual salon in the back. Soothing and jazzy r & b sounds kiss the air as I pick from a wall of at least 150 of the latest fashionable colors. She escorts me to one of 4 pedicure stations where instead of individual chairs, I step up to a high backed chocolate leather sofa seat with built in back massage and purple and grey throw pillows to place behind my back and arm. There is also an arm rest with a cup holder which conveniently holds the glass of sparkling wine, orange or lemon Pelligrino or still water offered to me as I sit. A beautiful round ceramic bowl awaits with perfect temperature water infused with my chosen scent. Today it was Jasmine Rose. My stylist pulls her tools of the trade out and I recall with relief: all files, emery boards, toe separators and flip flops are new for each customer. All other tools come straight from being disinfected. Sanitary conditions lend to my sanity. Here is where I fall into my happy place... As I stir nearly 45 minutes later, after my trimmed nails have had her feet pampered by a brown sugar scrub, foot mask with hot towels and massage with the in house made body frosting, I feel the tickle of bright red, sparkly nail polish being expertly applied. I'll sit here a little while longer enjoying my orange Pelligrino and cool tunes while my toes dry. I've walked thru the door of Shic 3 times, each time allowing a different stylist use her gifts on my weary flight attendant feet. Yet every time has been a wonderful and rejuvenating experience. I'm not prone to exaggeration but Shic Nail Boutique lives up to this review. The third time is as charming as the first. I promise you it won't be the last. read more

I love my experience each time I visit this place. It is indeed an experience. Pros: I never wait longer than 5 min to be serviced Each nail tech is fabulous! Literally, all of them are great They has quality polish. You're offered water or tea while you get serviced. The environment is clean and relaxing. Cons: Parking can sometimes be ridiculous. The techs take their time (good and bad. You know sometimes you just want to get in and out) A little more expensive than your typical nail salon (however, it isn't your usual nail salon) You have to schedule appointments weeks ahead of time. Overall, I definitely will continue to patronize this nail salon. However, I must alternate between here and another nail salon because I can't always commit to the time it takes to visit here or I can't always get the day of service I need. read more

I found out about this place via a Living Social deal, and I'm thankful to them for that. I really liked Shic! The decor is VERY nice and relaxing...it resembles a spa atmosphere as opposed to your typical nail salon. Synthche did a great job on my no chip manicure. They don't have a huge selection of no-chip colors, but they did have what I was looking for at the moment. I did notice that there was a nice selection of regular polishes from OPI and China Glaze. After the manicure, my hands were mosturized with my choice of scented shea butter, which I thought was a nice touch. (The shea butter is also available for purchase.) Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Shic! and I will definitely be back!!! read more

FANTASTIC NAIL SALON! Very upscale and classy! all the girls are super nice and friendly! The front desk gentleman (Antonio I believe?) very was helpful at fitting both myself and my mother in at the same time when I called. We even ran a few minutes late (I am from out of town and was unfamiliar with the area) but they still took up quickly! You get to pick a bath salt smelly thingy that are handmade by the owner to put in your pedicure. By far the BEST and most thorough callus remover treatment I have ever gotten. The chairs are so so so comfortable! They also offered us a variety of delicious beverages. My mother got a "Shic!tini" and it was delicious! Fruity and crisp and really fit the mood. I've been to this salon a few times. I LOVE that it is Black Owned and that it is by appointment only. The salon is clean, organized and I never have to wait. The pedicures are amazing!! My only gripe is with the no-chip manicures... mine always start to chip after one week and then my nails begin to break. I've had 2 technicians and experienced the same results. I'm not sure if it's the age of the product or the application. I may give them another chance before I completely give up. read more

This place was very clean, beautiful and welcoming which I loved hands down. Unfortunately I have to give this place a one star because I paid nice penny for a service and I am not satisfied. The pedi was great I got the brown sugar package which was $70 then paid an extra $15 for no chip on my hands. I got this service done last week and a week later my no chip has chipped off one of my nails. Now I have been to other shops and paid almost half of this price and my no chip lasted at least 3 weeks. I loved the fact how clean it is once again but however that amount of money I paid, there is no way my polish should have chipped. My regular polish lasted much longer than this. I was referred by a friend but as of now I will not be returning because that was a lot of money I paid for a no chip service that I did not receive. read more

I waited over a month for an appointment which you have to leave a credit card number to hold app. It was my first time there and couldn't find parking so when I walked in I was 11 min late so they told me because I was not on time they were not going to be able to do my pedicure. I was there for 3 hours getting a fill and jewels were put on one finger. she said I was done and could not do pedicure. I said please at least polish my toes so they match my nails and she saip Nope. sorry no can do. so I walked out with un matching nails and toes. The very next day all the jewels fell off and 3 nails broke. Her explanation is when they do a fill they just do the fill part and do not overlay the whole nail. (ok) well now it was going to take 4 days to get an appointment for a repair. went in for repair and she said one was too short and could not repair it. (never had that happen before) so I walked out with my pinky now not only not repaired but she didn't even polish it so it would match my other nails. she charged me $10 for repair. Now I am $75 into a fill. Never ever. I cancelled all future appointments. read more

This place is awesome! It's the fanciest nail salon I've ever been to. It's beautifully decorated with really great R&B and soul music playing very softly. The check in counter had an array of homemade bath salts and something called body frosting (more on that later). They have you choose your scent and off you go to the salon area. The pedicure chairs are not massage but really cool, comfy couches. Everything is spotless. The color selection is great. Soakoff for no chip is only $5. I had my no chip (shellac) done by a tech named Kim. She was so sweet and more careful and competent than any nail tech I've ever gone to. She was so funny and fun to talk to. I picked a dark color and she said "are you sure you want to do this?" Spring is here. She convinced me to do a combination of colors (iridescent over coral with champagne glitter over my ring finger) that I LOVED. I can't stop looking at my nails. They are perfect length, color and not one blemish! Loved Kim! Lastly, there was an incredible end to the manicure. The scented body frosting they asked you to pick out. Its an amazing body scrub/oil that smells divine and has this great texture. so yummy. I bought a tub of it to bring home. It's just a fun, relaxing place to go. No chip is only $30 and it really feels like an indulgence to get your nails done here. My only complaint is how far away it is from Chicago and its too bad it's on such a sketchy stretch of Pulaski. I have been to Shic before with a previous employee and left all smiles. My last visit was quite the opposite. Nicole did my nails. I wanted a marble pattern in gray. I have had this done before, but never like this. Nicole had a white base no chip and used a black sharpie marker on my nails. When she asked me how it looked after completing one nail, I told her it was too dark. I wanted a gray pattern. She told me white and black makes gray and then continued layering my white nails with her black sharpie. My dissatisfaction was all over my face as she continued. My nails looked purple/blue. I spoke to the young lady who checked me out who stated she was the manager. She told me my total was $54. When I explained how I felt she changed my total to $64 and said she took off $10. I get compliments on my nails all the time... Shic unfortunately I will not be returning and I will not be sending any business your way in the future. read more

I was referred to Shic by a friend who heard good things about the nail salon. I made an appointment on a Friday night at 5:30pm. When I entered Shic I walked into the waiting area and it smelled heavenly. In the waiting area they have products for sale: bath salts, candles, body frosting, body scrub and body mist. I was greeted as soon as I entered the waiting area and taken in the back right away for my pedicure. I love that you can pick your own scent for your pedicure and manicure. I had the brown sugar pedicure and it was amazing. The tech took her time and I did not feel rushed. The pedicure included a soak, scrub, hot towels, mask and massage. The no chip manicure was also great. I liked how the tech took her time and did a great job shaping my nails and cleaning up my cuticles. I also loved that they had a great selection of polish. The atmosphere is calming with R&B music playing and great conversation. I also purchased two jars of the body frosting and it smells amazing. This was only my second visit to the location and I was unhappy with the level of support and lack of accountability. About a month ago I had an appointment but didn't realize that my hair appointment was going to overlap and cause me to miss the appointment with Shic. I contacted the salon about 30 minutes prior to appointment asking whether I could reschedule for whatever date and time that was convenient for the salon. I was told by the owner that the reschedule would still cause a cancellation fee. I was fine with that, until I was told the cancellation fee was the full price of the service. So to avoid giving away my money, I stopped mid hair appointment, and went to Shic to get my service. I arrived on time, only to find, that my nail technician was not ready and still servicing another client. I had to wait up front for 15 minutes, until the owner finally brought me to the back to a pedicure bowl where I soaked for another 15 minutes before getting serviced, without any apologies from the owner. I just don't appreciate being forced into any appointment that could've been rescheduled for any other time or date when they weren't ready to service me anyway. Furthermore, any business that charges a late/cancellation fee, should never be late themselves. read more

Not only do I love this nail salon I anxiously await my biweekly appointments (appointment are required). I've been coming here for over 2 years and the level of service has continued to be high. The salon is clean, equipment is sterile and the staff is professional and personable. My appointments are with Syn but you can't go wrong with any of the technicians. They also have fabulous products and a wide array of polish choices. If you want to jazz things up with nail designs they can handle that too. Pedicures are also heavenly and you'll leave with your feet feeling baby soft. I can't say enough about my nail salon and trust that all that try them will feel the same way!!!!! read more

This is the first time I have been compelled to write a Yelp review, but I just had to spread the word about the wonderful experience I had at Shic! I have been looking for a CLEAN, professional nail salon in the southern suburbs forever, and I have finally found it. My sister discovered this while searching on the web. We were intrigued by their website, (appointments only, no kids) so we decided to take a drive to find out if they were indeed an "upscale" nail boutique. Upon entering the first thing we noticed was the calm, soothing ambiance and pleasant smell (no sign of those awful acrylic nail products). We were greeted in a courteous, professional manner by one of the technicians (I forget her name) and were told what the "basic" pedicure would entail for the extremely reasonable price of $35. She then gave us a brief tour, and right away we were impressed. Although they don't take walk-ins (another plus in my book) they were able to give us an appointment within the hour. The seating was comfortable, the staff well dressed, pleasant and above all PROFESSIONAL! My technician, Nicole was very thorough, yet gentle. Even the television was tuned to HGTV (no Maury or other loud reality show shenanigans) with the sound turned down and closed caption set. The overhead music was calm, soothing; no rap, or hip hop music to ruin the mood. I can't say enough positive things about this establishment and am eager to spread the word about the great experience I had.
