Absolutely LOVE this place! I went to star nails for the first time this morning and have absolutely found my new nail tech. I don't remember her name, it started with an R. She was so incredibly sweet and listened to what I liked and didn't like. She was much more gentle than others at different salons in the past. Only $45 for an acrylic fill today.

The first time my daughter and I went and we got our nails done with two amazing ladies. We were happy with the design, colors, and service. This is the only place I know around Escondido and San Marcos that provide so many options for charms. my nails are still intact after two weeks with minor chips and lost 1 charm. My daughters lost her nails after two weeks but they were amazing when they were new. We paid $240 for both

Sadly, 1 is generous. I was hesitant to complain but it was, (and still is) very painful, and my family has encouraged me to do so for possible future guests as well. I probably wouldn't make as big of a deal if it was a Little Nick, but this was one deep cut that really hurt and two or three smaller ones that are also causing issues. Beyond that, take a look at the manicure much of the cuticle that should've been pushed back is still there while she cut live skin. I'm not sure if you can see it but if you zoom in you can see the different layers of paint and also it doesn't go all the way to the nail bed edges. I called the management after three days and told them about the issue, kindly. She said she would talk to her boss and refund my money if I came in. When I came in, she asked if I was the one that called I told her I was and showed her my nails. She said something out loud and several others came and looked and gave me a sorrowful face. I think her and then she told me I will give you $20 because your toes are fine. She then went on to say you will be fine, you will be fine and squirted peroxide on my hands without my permission. I am kind of appalled at the way that this was handled. At this point it's not about the money it's the principal. Hi, of course, will never return. I hope they give some training to the customer service people and also the nice lady who did my nails.

Natural nails were gel builder. I asked for a natural pink and it's exactly what I got.

These were the most reasonably priced nails I have ever gotten. I asked for gel builder on my natural nail, and they executed perfectly the color shape and everything. The inside is nice and calm the doors were open with the breeze coming through. It was a lovely vibe. I believe the gal that I saw her name started with an N but she has the first booth as soon as you walk into the right she's so sweet and very detailed with her work. I live about half an hour away. I just happen to be in the area while I needed a feel but I will definitely be making the drive to go back and see her. That's how good they are

Very skilled nail techs here. Always left satisfied with how my nails looked. Better then most places in San Marcos/Escondido area. Everyone is very friendly all the time. I felt like it was a true diamond in the rough for nail salons. I would leave 5 stars but I left today disappointed as they are overbooked and cannot easily get an appointment anymore. This is the third time in a month trying to get nails done and they turned me away. They should at least try and accommodate regular customers. It's only great for clients that can book far out. Not great for clients that have a schedule that changes and can only do walk ins. read more

I have been getting my nails done by Amy for years now and I always love the results! I had a lot of trouble finding the right nail place and when I found this place I was so happy! I came to Star because my nail salon that I have been going for over 2 years started going down in quality. I had 2 ladies doing my nails. I have nail bed sensitivity so I feel hot when they are filing down the nail but once they realized it, she was super careful. I had a fill and nail design and so far my polish has not chipped or have a crack nail. Love it. read more

Yen has helped me every time with a smile and friendly jokes! I was recommended by a friend because I need very short short nails and she is so willing to help and accommodate! I have a before and after of tonight's nails because her first set on me was so awesome I came back two weeks later for a fill! But she does them so short they look natural!! I'm shocked the quality of work done here! (Also it only takes one hour And the girls here are so sweet and NICE: friendliest service I've had in forever!!! I work in a coffee shop and would love to say my nails stay nice but that's anything but true: I BEAT MY HANDS UP! Love my nails that Ni did!! She's very sweet and extremely good at what she does :) I'm also a regular with Amy, who is one of a kind as well. They have a lot of precision in painting in filing. Ni's pedicure was so relaxing I almost fell asleep! You should really give this place a chance, it's surpassed any of the other nail salons I've been to. Their customer service is impeccable and they have made so many connections with their regular customers, from what I can tell when I'm there. Worst experience ever. I had my nail tech do gel on my toe nails even when I asked them to do regular polis (uncharged $15?!) I asked if they were qualified to do a specific design, they agreed they could without a doubt. It wasn't even close. Looks like a 2 year old colored on my nails. I asked them to repaint them and I'll go somewhere else, nail tech popped a serious attitude with me. Walked out with a $75 bill for horrible service and gross art work. Don't recommend. read more

If you're looking for a nail salon...you've found the correct one! I get may nails done by Chou and my pedicures by Mai! Both ladies always do an amazing g job and are so friendly! I have had my nails done by Nikki and Amy in the past too. Both have done excellent jobs as well. I highly recommend going earlier in the week and in the morning because it is not quite as busy as in the evening and on weekends. Everyone is kind, helpful and skillful...you can't go wrong! read more

I came for pedicure and dip powder for my nails, they used a gel color which was to light since they didn't use the top coat which had a color tint to it, I am 30 weeks pregnant and had to say 4xs I am pregnant since they pushed a pillow on my stomach as well as trying to have me bend certain ways while I was in the chair. I won't be back here. I even didn't like the color on my toes and I am stuck with it, I wasted 83 bucks... good luck I don't like to complain or make a fuss yet my friend and I will Not be back here EVER I even had to ask twice to fix my nails as you can see in the photo it was messy on my skin. And cut me twice. Still had to pay full price... I also paid more for the deluxe and they didn't do the mud massage... this place is a joke Btw some man was sitting in the next chair, not knowing what was going on... asking if "did you do A yelp review" told the lady don't worry I'll post a yelp review.. good luck is all I have to say this place is a rip off and I never had to pay full Price when I wasn't happy plus being pregnant and treated horrible this was a nightmare never again a treat to myself turned into a nightmare never again. Giving one star is actually to nice,, My friend and I will never be BACK read more

Such a great experience every time I come here. Every one is really nice and personable with you and make you feel comfortable and welcome. After I moved I was dreading having to find a good nail place so one of my co-workers reccomended Star Nails and now I've been coming back over and over. Amy does my nails and she is always a blast! We talk about everything from dating, to work, to recipes. She was even nice enough to make me her famous Vietnamese Spring rolls the next time I saw her for a fill! I just moved to San Marcos and was looking for a new nail place that was as good as my old place and I have to say that this place was AMAZING! My pedicure was to die for. She did an excellent job massaging my feet and my toes look awesome! I have pretty high standards for my manicure and I'm so impressed. Just moved to San Marcos and happened to stumble upon Star Nails because it was right around the corner from my house. I came in with no appointment and was helped almost immediately. Lyn did my nails and she was so sweet and funny. We talked and laughed the whole time I was in there. She really took her time to make sure my nails looked exactly how I wanted. Since I wrote this review, Van has left star nails. His sister Amy has taken me on as a client and I am still just as satisfied as ever! Nails are strong, perfectly shaped, and the techs are passionate about every customer leaving happy! As someone who's gotten their nails done pretty consistently for 10+ years now, I have never in my life gotten so many compliments on my nails!! Thanks Star Nails!! -------------------- Van at star nails is THE BEST acrylic nail tech in the San Marcos area! He has done my nails a few times now, and every time they are nothing less then perfect. Exactly what I ask for, every time! My friends and I went to Star Nails for the first time about 2 months ago, all wanting full sets and/or gel pedicures, and ALL four of us left the salon 100% satisfied! (which is rare when you go in a group lol) Our acrylics nails were strong, nicely shaped, and painted perfectly! The people in the salon are all super friendly, and make you feel very welcome. We've all been back since our initial visit, and have experienced the same great customer service and fabulous nail treatments! read more

After being a customer for over 4 years, (My mother was a customer 15 yrs) I stayed when the place was sold and gave the new Owner a chance. I had witnessed, admired & experienced her skills, but always felt unwelcomed because I was a "customer of the previous owner." She presented a much friendlier attitude when she spoke with "Her regulars." Three times one of her "top girls" did my nails for me, and three times that top girl hurt me and caused me to bleed...today being the worst. Not only that, I had made the appointment last week, she told me I had to come Tuesday, then had me down for the wrong day. I had no choice but to accept the alternate "top" manicurist again. This time was the worst. My finger started to bleed again after I got home and the "glue" they used to stop the blood wore off. Other than the apologies, I was charged full price. No compensation for the inconvenience, pain and suffering. I will not be going back. read more

was recommended this place by my friend and came as a walk in because the other place I was supposed to go to ended up being closed... I got taken care of so quickly which i wasnt expecting since I walked in! I had Jenny and she was so sweet and made sure I was happy throughout every step of the way. This place doesn't deserve 4 or 5 star like the rating. My friend was the one who introduced me to this place, It was not bad at all but the workers here are horrible, unfriendly and the owner Amy, she doesn't treat her employees fairly. When I get my nails done here, they talked bad things about me in Vietnamse. It's a painful experience for me. I've heard from my nails technician that Amy doesn't treat her workers inequality and lead to most of her employee quit. Recently I seen there a lot of new worker there. Last time, I had an appointment with Jenny and when I come in, Amy send the new employee to do my nails it feel like my nails was done at a beginner salon where no one have skills and the result after is like I did the nail myself at home. read more

He said he wasn't comfortable doing her nails, got a big attitude. Then I stepped in because my friend wasn't going to ask again. Well then Jimmy and I got into it. He called me a bitch, was so rude and unprofessional. I'm disappointed in how the owner reacted. Jimmy needs to be fired for his lack of professionalism. There was no solution to his poor behavior. Jenny is great and if she moves salons I'll see her again but I refuse to go back to a place that treats and allows their employees to act that way. There should have been a discount or something given for the poor experience. But nope nothing, $140 later for two sets of nails. Ridiculous lol My response to the lack of ownership this owner has taken: That's funny, because that's not what you were saying during the service. You repeatedly apologized to both my best friend and me. This was her first time here, and even you acknowledged the experience was unacceptable and apologized for it. I was personally hugged and told "sorry" for the incident, and you even stated that you would handle the situation accordingly. If you have the video, that's great, it will reflect his behavior exactly as I stated from the beginning. As a business owner, especially after having a loyal customer for years, your response here only shows a complete lack of professionalism.

My girlfriends lives and San Marcos so for Valentines I bought her a gift certificate for some spa and nail treatment. I search around in San Marcos and came upon Star Nails. The salon is absolutely clean and the staff was really friendly. The price was really competitive also. My girlfriend recently used the certificate and was very happy with their service! I finally succeeded in getting her something worthwhile and something that she really enjoys. As a matter of fact, she enjoyed it so much that she scheduled her next appoint there already! Definitely do not recommend coming here. Walked in for a fill, got a quick fill and fixed broken nail. They charge an arm & leg + it was crappy fill job. Had to argue with the tech to make my nails look even. My hands don't match & they charged $50+ for a fill and fix nail. read more
