I came here because I was on a time crunch, and they took me in right away and they weren't busy. The daughter greeted me and was very friendly and nice when I walked in. The husband was also very nice even though he wasn't the one who did my nails. However on the other hand, the wife was extremely rude. She did my nails and didn't even greet and very demanding when she sat down. She said she couldn't do coffin shaped nails and ASKED me to show her how. She argued so many times and can't speak English properly so was hard to even talk to her. I got gel polish and the polish was very poor. It didn't even harden the way it should. read more

I was nearby at the mall and actually headed to a nail salon closer to my house but I decided to give this place a try. I wanted a pedicure and I was told the next nail tech would finish in 10 minutes. It actually took her 15 minutes and then almost another 5 by the time she had gathered up her stuff for me. While waiting, I decided to check them out on Yelp. I saw quite a few negative reviews but I was crunched for time so I basically crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. I figured out who Nick was when his appointment greeted him and I figured out Sophie was his hateful wife who never cracked a smile. Nick however seemed very friendly. The girl who did my pedicure gave me a big smile when she came over to me and said "hi". After that she never said a single word to me or made any kind of eye contact. She simply tapped on my feet if she wanted me to do anything. I assumed she didn't speak English but when she was all done she asked me if I wanted to sit under the dryer. I can't complain about my pedicure - it was the basic, no-frills pedicure you get in those kind of places. But the place itself has a run-down, hole-in-the-wall, tacky vibe. There was a TV on but at the same time, they played some rather irritating music called a cha-cha playlist so I couldn't hear the TV at all. I don't see myself returning here but it is right next to Costco and if I was ever nearby again and found myself strapped for time, I'd consider it. read more

They have horrible customer service. They agree to appointments and have you sitting there waiting almost an hour to get seen. So inconsiderate. Workers act confused and give you the run around when you made an appointment WITH THEM. They treat you as if you're not a paying customer. Don't take constructive criticism well. I've argued with the wife before. So rude. Would not recommend at all. They need better attitudes. If I could give this place 0 stars I would and it's my fault for not yelping them first. Waited over 30 minutes for someone to start a pedicure and then had to cancel my manicure because I had to wait for the owner. Worse part is I'm sure they don't sanitize properly. THE WORST!! I decided to pop in here to get my gels soaked off. It cost $17 to soak the gels and get a shitty manicure. First of all, I don't think the guy who did them spoke one word to me other than "wash". He was too busy yammering to everyone else in their language which wouldn't bother me if he said so much as hello. Manicure did not even include cleaning under my nails...wtf?? When I was done, he turned on this fan and gestured for me to put my hands in front of it and WALKED AWAY! I guess it was ridiculous of me to expect that he was going to rub my shoulders while I dried?! I'm actually livid at myself for even tipping. The best...BEST was when HE decided I was done, he basically told me to leave so he could take someone else. I couldn't get my bag on my shoulder fast enough! There were 4 other open stations!! Terrible place to get your nails done. I love getting my nails done I go every 2-3 weeks and I also try new things like shapes and design. If you like doing nice clean or cool looking nails, DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! I had the owners wife do my nails and even though each nail place can be a little different the steps are always the same. They skip steps, way to aggressive filing nails. I'm seriously shocked that this place gets good reviews. I walked in and nothing was clean everything looked messy and all over the place. I have had a couple of appointments but it us not getting better with the overall atmosphere in the salon. Nicholas is very nice, does good work, and design. Sophia has taken me late because she was eating without apologizing. Dislike the overall salon feels unclean. Sophia yells at her husband (Nicholas) and maybe she thinks we do not know because she is talking another language, Sophia talks on her phone while doing customer nails. Appointment was with Nicholas once and there was an argument on who was going to do my nails in front of me. Overall the salon needs to look at how their associates are unpleasant, not just the owner (Sophia) in general to all customer, they are loud talking to each other, like they are at home and not at a place of business. When they arent busy, they should clean. Tools are not being sterilized at all between customers. read more

Should have listened to my instincts and the awful reviews of this place prior to actually going, but because of the multiple referrals from coworkers I decided to give this place a shot. I called and made an appointment with Sophie, and arrived to a completely empty salon. I thought maybe she would have put the TV or a radio on or something, but I settled because I thought at least a conversation would be made. Upon trying to start a conversation, I was answered with a brief one word answer and decided to soak in the silence. I have never been to a place where my nails were picked and scraped off from the previous polish, to say this process was brutal to my nails would be an understatement. Before she started to dip my nails into the color, she added white to the powder, I was a bit concerned about this as I realized she was trying to stretch the product out, but decided not to say anything. As she was shaping and filing my nails, I noticed that they weren't all the same size so I politely asked her if she could fix them, which it seems like she pretended to do based on the results. I washed my nails and began inspecting them and noticed white streaks throughout my color, the color was not what I picked out, and each one of my nails was a different shape and a different size, underneath my nails had been all the residue and gunk as she didn't even bother to clean them. As I went up to the counter Nicholas had asked if everything was okay, where I proceeded to show him my nails and explain how I was very upset about the different shapes and sizes of my nails and the white specks and streaks running throughout. He began talking to his wife (Sophie) where she said that she may have filed the one nail too much BUT ALL MY NAILS WERE DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES. Nicholas said that she would fix them once she was done with the client she took after me and was very apologetic, and when I went to go sit down she shooed me away. I got up and decided to pay, very reluctantly as the service was not worth it. Nicholas tried persuading me to stay, and asked me to come back tomorrow where I blatantly told him I would not be coming back. I understand people make mistakes, but to not check the shape and size of each nail prior to completion is lazy and very unprofessional. Sophie's attitude and the way she handled the situation was beyond disturbing. The one star is for Nick, as he tried his best to be kind without disrespecting his wife (despite her attitude), and the other customers Save your money- do them yourself, find somewhere else. I started going to Star Nails only because the pedicurist I've being going to for years transferred there. But, the owner is too rude to everyone including the workers that I couldn't go back. On my last awful visit, I was skipped over my appointment because while I was waiting for my pedicurist to fishing her last customer I walked next door to Dunkin Donuts to get a coffee. The owners husband checked me in and I told him I would return shortly since she was behind and he said that wouldn't be a problem. When I walked back in (not even 5min. later) the pedicurist was still working on the same customer and the owner told me that she moved someone else in front of me because she didn't think I was coming back, when her husband confirmed that he already checked me in and that I was next , with a hell of an attitude she said "too late, You have to wait cuz i told the other lady she's next" Will never spend another dime in that place. read more

I've been here a few times to get my nails done. I get the same thing each time. Each time I've paid a different price. Today I got my nails done and the nail tech insisted that I get gel on my overlay bc it's better. I told him no I'll pass today. He spoke in Chinese to the female co-owner and said my nails would cost the same if I got gel or regular polish on my overlay. I told him that gel always cost more. So it was unbelievable that it would cost the same. He said the female co-owner said that's how much it would cost with or without. I know encouraging consumers to get more is apart of their job but I think bamboozling customers with lies is a bit harsh and insulting. I'm totally over this place. The male co-owner is very nice and pleasant though. He has great conversation. There is a reason there is no price chart in this establishment. It's literally a pay as the establishment sees fit. The lady didn't apply the gel polish correctly and it pooled at the top of my nails and after 4 days my nails were falling apart and the gel had almost completely peeled off. Last time this salon gets my money.!!!!! 11 customers and the place is stifling hot. Asked if a/c is on.... one of the girls talks to the a..hole man and is allowed to lower the temperature. I looked at thermostat and she changed it to 80. Really it was 78 outside. No one acknowledged us when we walked in ( mind you not our first trip there). Waited 27 minutes before anyone approached us. My manicurist was so so. Had to point out roughness she missed and cuticles she missed. No one talked in this salon. ( must be intimidated by owner.). Asked if the channel could be changed on the tv. Manicurist has to ask the owner. He said ok but put on a channel he liked. Truly the customer is not the first priority here. She told me he never changes the channel ( not to the customers benefits or likings.). Place was a C on cleanliness. Dirty paper towels on my pedicure seat. Floor needed a good sweeping and washing. Don't ask about the bathrooms. Place not being kept up. Exposed waste pipes behind pedicure chairs. And they are the same price as everywhere else. Poor manicurists have to sit on an upside down bucket in back room to eat lunch. No one said thank you or good bye when we left. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

I have been a customer for a few years , but all of a sudden there is a big turn over of employees. so I made my appt. and sat down and the guy would actually stop doing my nails and read his texts that were coming in and sometimes would text back..i was aggravated but did not say anything. I went to wash my hands and came back to the chair for my polish and this guy was playing a war game on his phone, I had to actually wait for him..now I am pissed, I still let it go.now I am drying for well over 25 min, and he is in front of me talking away. I finally tell him he has horrible customer service skills and when he has a client in front of him the phone should be put away. anna the manager came over to finish my nails with the gel, she apologized that it was taking to long I told her that's not the issue the issue was his phone.long story short, I told her I will not be back she still made me pay the $23.00. if she was a good manager and wanted to keep a client she should have apologized for this guys behavior and not charged me but instead I feel she condoned his actions read more
