I had a very disappointing experience at Star Nursery in Las Vegas. The manager had a terrible attitude, and one of the staff (a young Black woman) was also extremely unhelpful and rude. It's unfortunate because the nursery could have great plants, but the customer service made the visit very unpleasant. Definitely would not recommend based on how we were treated. read more

I have been to several different star nursery locations in town and overall it just has poor management and customer service. As I was checking out in line, mind you I was the only one in line at the time, I spotted a female manager at the time and had asked which area to check out at as there are stations to check out to the left and to the right of the entrance. She just grunted "he can help you" on the right hand side. So I went over to the right side and the checkout attendant didn't even acknowledge or even bother to say hello or something to indicate when to start the transaction. So then another attendant came over since he clearly wasn't. So I was like several red flags here but..ok fine. I was trying to purchase a tree and opted in to set up delivery for it. I asked them how delivery usually works and they offered that it potentially be delivered same day or "whoever is available whenever they can do it." I ultimately chose to have it delivered next day. Fast forward to next day the tree didn't arrive nor did I get a confirmation call. So I called the location which also was a headache to call. I called the place 3 times to actually have someone answer as they set up all these automated responses that ultimately end the call because they aren't set up properly so I had to keep calling until I selected an option that was fictional. The person who answered was the same person who checked me out the day prior but they didn't answer with any kind of formal greeting so I was confused that I even called the right place. I asked to get an estimate on when the tree could be delivered just so I can prepare accordingly instead of having a tree and plants left in the middle of the street. I was placed on hold only to be ultimately told the same response that it's basically whenever they have someone and just hangs up. Way to treat a customer who literally threw down a decent amount of cash on trees, plants and soil. You think you would handle someone better who drops that amount of cash at checkout. Overall I don't think I would recommend this location due to the way it's managed. read more

I enjoy visiting Star nursery to see the variety of plants and flowers available. This location is not as well maintained as others I visited and it is hit and miss when it comes to customer service. Few smiles and welcomes but not overly helpful. One time as I was shopping for perennials. Two employees were discussing issues with the company loudly and staff. Then once they saw me they quickly talked about the something else. Management needs to better treat and train their staff. Plus plants need happy talk. It negatively. No wonder some perennials looked sad. The sales are great though. read more

Terrible Customer Service will not be coming back!!! I called ahead on October 26, 2025, to the Star Nursery on Boulder Highway to make sure they had the materials I needed -- specifically different kinds of gardening rocks and paver sand. I was told everything was in stock and ready to go. That turned out to be completely false. When I arrived, the place looked deserted. No one offered help. I wandered the yard for a good while trying to find an employee, wondering if everyone was on break or just avoiding customers. When I finally flagged someone down, they were barely interested in helping. The entire store seemed disorganized and understaffed. To make matters worse, they didn't even have the rock size I was told they had over the phone -- only half-inch Sahara pebble rock when I needed the larger size. I ended up having to settle for it, and now my backyard project looks mismatched because of their misinformation. They also didn't have any paver sand, despite confirming it was in stock earlier that day. The only sand available was the white play sand for kids' sandboxes. When I brought this up at checkout, the employees (a woman named possibly Alondria and a man named Moses) couldn't have cared less. Neither one apologized or tried to help make it right. It's clear that this location has serious issues with communication, product knowledge, and customer service. I chose Star Nursery hoping to save a trip to Lowe's -- big mistake. Lowe's not only has better selection but also employees who actually know what's in stock. After this frustrating experience, I'll never shop at this location again and recommend others skip it too. read more

I'm not sure what's going on with all the negative reviews. My visit was nothing like what people have reported. The staff was extremely helpful, everyone we passed spoke or smiled at us. I understand one visit can't sum up everyone's experience but you have to at least give the place credit for being clean and well organized. read more

Stopped by to grab some new plants for the house and heard this was a location with a good selection. This description was very accurate and they do have a great variety of plants. Unfortunately there is limited to zero guidance as to where things are in the nursery so unless you have been here before and know where things are, you may find it frustrating to find what you're looking for. Also there seemed to be a lot of employees around doing tasks but there was one guy at most walking around asking customers questions and assisting them. We asked a worker where some plants were and all we got was a vague point and "over there". Apparently there is no training to actually engage with customers or actually show them to plants. Long story short if I know exactly what I want and can get a workers attention then I may return to comb their options. read more

Love Star nursery. They have so much. They are super helpful and friendly. They will answer any questions you may have. We've been going every year for four years to get our Christmas tree. They will put your stand on for you wrap it up AND put in n on or in your car. The price is so reasonable how could you really go any where else. I like a fat tree so I look for a fat trunk and it's usually perfect. I'm loving my tree this year. read more

I have been shopping at this nursery for a few years, but never again after what I saw this week. They are actively abusing and starving cats that they have previously acclimated to the property. Punishing employees for trying to help the animals. They're killing kittens. I just can't believe this is legal and I will never support this business again after more than 3 years shopping here. read more

I went into the Nursery looking for a tree. I did not get asked if I needed help and I walked around and asked a person on what trees were heat tolerant and low maintenance and low water. The people are knowledgeable and very helpful. I do recommend it for large or small landscaping. If you're buying larger items, and having them delivered, check when they get to your place to verify it's what you paid for. read more

I bought 5 Golden Barrell cacti Wednesday morning. I had the great good fortune to ask Liberty for assistance. She quickly left the task keeping her busy and turned her full attention to my request. Liberty even chose the perfect "barrels" for me! She was purely delightful! Then I went to check out and Jessica was there! Another excellent employee of Star Nursery. She chose a pair of sturdy gloves for me to wear when transplanting! Jessica then even helped me back down the entry/exit ramp so the barrels would fall off. All the time she was smiling, helpful. Liberty and Jessica made me feel I was the most important customer of the day! Way to go Star Nursery for employing such customer-friendly women. read more

I have a friend who lives in an rv. Yesterday he was eating breakfast at Dennys on Boulder, right next to star nursery. He had parked his rv in the street between Dennys and the nursery. He had been yhere about 20 min to eat and when he came put to leave s cop was banging on all of his windows trying to get a response. So my friend asks what's up and the cop says he has to leave because they had a call from star nursery management saying a customer had called to complain that a couple of rvs were parked on the street and that they weren't going to shop at star anymore because of them. They actually said that. What a bullshit story. That rvs parked next to them were so intimidating that they were not coming back Didn't happen. The biggest Karen in the world wouldn't give a shit about an rv parked on a side street, completely invisible to them from anywhere in the nursery but even if they could see it, 5hey wouldn't give a shit So star nursery uses bullshit stories to have the cops clear people from a street because they don't like them period If only I could get back the hundreds I have spent here over the years No more. Small store with little selection. I do not like this location. I've had better luck and customer service I'm the southwest side of town. The cashier today who was new did not allow me to receive store credit without a receipt when I wanted to make an exchange for a purchase of more value. I purchased some shrubs, I did not review my receipt till the next day and discovered I had been charged twice for one five gallon shrub. I went in the next day to have this corrected and have a refund back into my credit card account. The manager was called to the desk and she treated me as if I was trying to scam Star Nursery out of a shrub. I being 70 years old asked her if I looked like I would pull a scam like this, and she said "I have seen far better looking people than you do some incredible scams, you're no different." I have been an honest customer of Star Nursery for as long as I have lived in Las Vegas and have never been treated so badly, yes, I should have reviewed my receipt at purchasing time but was trusting that they would do their job! I am sure the girl checking me out made an honest mistake. To be treated so poorly by the manager was just obvious that treating your customers well is no longer available to customers of Star Nursery. I will relate this treatment to all I know and come in contact with and will never frequent Star Nursery in the future. read more

DISHONEST AND RUDE! I bought a few citrus trees and they died. I took them back for a refund and the manager Deanna said they would not refund because the trees had been "planted". I showed her their refund policy displayed by the checkout counter which did not say anything about no refunds if the trees had been "planted". She had been caught lying, so what does she do? She goes to her office, locks her door and does not come out. After wasting some time waiting for her to come out, I just left. Never again! read more

By far the worst experience ever I was charged for Full size succulents when I had picked baby onesfor each succulent when they were not marked the lady at registered refused to give me back my money and she said they had gone up in price when I had picked them from the location that they were on sale for 398 her name is Angela and she's claims to be the store manager but she wouldn't shut up when I argued that I was right by at least requiring them to refund me the difference I buyer about $90 of plants per week from star nursery but I will never ever go back to this location I will much rather drive to the one in Summerlin 28 minutes then deal with her unprofessional behavior the disrespect was unreal and she said get out of my store she's not the store owner she's just another employee making and giving star nursery A bad name I'll rather go to Home Depot and Lowe's where they appreciate my hard earned money It is not ethical to not mark your plants and then ring them up to whatever you want to ring them up in the register and not notify the customer how much they are they just bring them up.just to add she also threw a plant on the register and she refused to walk all the way to see how much the plants were marked for. We recently got motivated to start making our curb appeal more appealing and functional so we headed over to this location. The big reason was it was nearby and the second was we have been there before and the selection is good. This location is right on Boulder Highway so if your headed toward Henderson from Las Vegas, it's on your right. There is a big parking lot up front. When you enter, your walking past the cashiers and retail supplies. If your there to get potted plants, the best thing to do is get a red wagon, which is their version of a shopping cart, and load up. There is a big selection of fruit trees, ground cover, cactus, drought resistant, and decorative plants to chose from. Since this in a desert, you want the plants that require the least watering so you might have to load up on oleanders, cactus etc. and the red wagon comes in handy since these type of plants can either be very prickly or irritating when your skin comes in contact. The staff overall is constantly around and willing to answer any questions you might have. I would say that I would shop here regularly for my landscaping needs. read more

"Zero" isn't an option or they would get it. Ordered 725 sq ft of sod, which is about a pallet and a half. The nice young guy brings the pallet to my truck and tells me he has to unload it off the pallet by hand into the bed of my truck. I ask why aren't you just loading the pallet and I will return the pallet in an hour when I pick up the second pallet? "CAN'T" I am a General Contractor who has remodeled at least 2500 homes for myself and clients, I know what I am doing 100 percent. I walk inside to inquire why they cant load the pallet and Lori Lopez the general manager gets involved by trying to educate me on how heavy that pallet of sod is??? I said the pallet weighs maybe 15 pounds and your telling me that you can load all the pieces of sod into my truck but "NOT" the pallet?? I said do you know how stupid that is? And the war was on, anytime you try and correct a Liberal Dike that thinks she is the boss you should be prepared. I told her that if she was that stupid she don't deserve my business and demanded a refund, which I got. I did call her a lot of choice names and told her I hope her sod dies in the parking lot. Star Nursery on Boulder is awesome! If you'll indulge me for a hefty read, I'll qualify my rating, and possibly offer some counterpoints to the negative reviews on here. My family ran an orange orchard in Valencia, Spain. I practically grew up in a nursery. While at university ( Arizona State), I was an easy hire as the garden specialist at Home Depot in Mesa, AZ. What I can tell you with all certainty, is that Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, Costco, and Target stores in SoCal, Nevada, and Arizona - get nearly all their plants directly from greenhouses in SoCal. The nurseries don't even bother to acclimatize the plants, because they know the plants will die, either in the store or at the customer's house. At my Home Depot, the nursery reps would come in every week and swap out probably 40% of the plants which didn't last a week in Phoenix heat. In the worst part of summer, some reps had to come twice a week and swap out the plants. The reality is, stores offer customers a "1 year plant refund guarantee" - not because they have faith in the plants they sell, but to get customers back in the store spending more money. That business model, is how on one brutal summer day, a nursery truck dumped around 50 snowbush on my Depot. The nursery rep made a sign that read, "Does well in USDA zones 10/11, loves bright sun, any kind of soil!" While those things are true, Phoenix is zone 10, and so is Miami - where the snowbush can actually live. I love snowbush, I saw a magnificent one on Maui that was about 8' tall, but I would never try to grow one in Phoenix! I'm writing this because I know that running a nursery is a tough business, with razor thin margins. I have no affiliation with Star Nursery. As I scrolled through these bad reviews, it emphasized to me how backwards the big stores have trained customers to think. Sure, when you shop most any time of the year, the plants look vibrant and healthy. However most of the plants you are looking at, if they don't sell in a week, get taken back to California and end up compost if they can't be rehabilitated (except for the toxic petunias, those just get burned). That is the truth. Supplying Arizona and Nevada is a huge loss for the big California nurseries, but they do it to keep contracts with Home Depot and Lowe's in California - where their real profit comes from. A couple years ago while in Spain, I bought a property in Vegas. The seller bought plants from Lowe's on Charleston & Boulder. Mostly lavender, hibiscus, pink jasmine, gardenia, jade, and 20 aeoniums (for pots on a covered patio). I installed everything along with drip irrigation. Within 2 months, every single plant was dead. In May, of this year I gave Star Nursery a try. Yes, it's a very utilitarian set up - it's not there to give you a lovely stroll through a tropical oasis while parrots squawk at you, or to lure you into a higher-margin part of the store. My first impression, was that it was set up for landscaper convenience - that is exactly where you want to buy plants! I walked in to see if they had a tree I have at my place in Spain, which I know as, "pimiento de los monjes," in English that is "monk's pepper (vitex agnus-castus)." To test the staff, I asked a young lady who was watering, if they had any pimiento de los monjes, aka vitex trees. To my surprise, I didn't get a blank stare! She knew exactly where the vitex (commonly known here as chaste trees) were and she led me over to them. Try that at any big box garden center - I guarantee they will have no idea! Did the tree look a little scrappy? Sure, it was a young plant being acclimatized. It was in a 5-gallon, and about 25" tall. It was so cheap, $9.00 I think, that I bought two... while there, I couldn't pass up on also grabbing a pineapple guava, a tecoma yellow bells, a jubilee orange bells, 4 varieties of sage, several pink jasmine, Tuscan blue rosemary, a radiation lantana, a trailing purple lantana, a euphorbia fire sticks, 2 barrel cactus, a hesperaloe, and a caesalpinia red bird! Checking out was fast, and they asked me if I had all the necessary ferts and soil amends. There was a big roll of plastic sheets right by the door to wrap the pots in. I'm sure some people would say most of the stuff I bought looked like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree, but before they got hard pruned for winter, both chaste trees reached about 8' tall with 2.5' spokes, and lots of purple blooms. It's aggressive, but I want that - since I have them on the south side of the building and will train them into a canopy I can walk under. The jubilee orange bells got to about 9' tall before I hard pruned it too. I didn't prune the yellow bells yet, see photos I just took tonight, Dec 29th. I know this was long! If anyone read it all before considering going to Star, I hope I've given you some points to consider. I get nothing out of this other than trying to give Star a fair and accurate review - I want them to be around a long time! read more

RACIST AND AGRESSIVE MANAGER AND CASHIER. I understand I may have an accent but it is no reason for customer service workers to yell at me because I made a mistake like anyone else. The manager said it would be too much work to change my order on the computer and said she did not want to talk with me any more. It took the manager only 2 minutes to process my exchange. I felt so much pain that I got so much yelling and aggression for a problem that they could solve in 2 minutes! I wanted to create a nice DIY project for my home but I don't have the experience. They took away all the joy and enthusiasm I had for my project and made me feel bad because I am not an expert. read more

It was my first time here and I liked the variety of plants and herbs even though it's fall and the weather is changing. I picked up two new pots and a money tree as well as a chocolate mint plant. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I didn't find any plant stand holders. I ended up going to Walmart to get the black one in the picture with the money tree.
