The reviews kinda prepped me for a long wait, but that wasn't the case at all. We ordered an appetizer of roasted garlic - each garlic piece was so soft and spread perfectly on the bread slices. For our main, we ordered a 16 inch New York style margherita pizza. Usually this style of pizza is pretty basic and tastes the same, but they added seasoning which literally made it taste so good. We order a pizza at Star Pizza Katy. The workers were making pizza without gloves and cutting them. When I asked the cashier she stated, " they don't have to wear gloves. They washed there hands." When I asked for a refund she said she would let her manager know. I asked for a receipt confirming my refund. She refused stated, it will be done at the end of the night. I said, " how do I know I will be refunded without a receipt. She would feel free to go to another pizza place and refuse to give me a receipt. However, making food without gloves it not ok especially during COVID and when asking a question regarding safety the staff should not get an attitude and yell as if customers don't have the right to ask for their safety. read more

I have been hearing this pizza is the business and oh boy they are not kidding at all!!!! I decided to take a drive and go to this location to pick up a Starburst deep dish pan pizza. OMGOODNESS!!!! This pizza is all that and then some!!!! From the toppings to the crust this pizza is so filling and packed with toppings!!! I was definitely full from just two slices and I have been known to down more than half by myself (don't judge me :)) I will definitely be back and can't wait to try the different kinds of pizza they offer. I always order the Large NY style on white crust with mushrooms and pepperoni. We have since tried other toppings but always go back to this one. It's that combination on top of the ooey gooey cheese, it's nostalgic, it's magical!. No matter if we pick it up or have it delivered the pizza itself is always made so fresh-- So delicious! I did not know Katy had a Star Pizza. I have eaten a the Star Pizza #1 a few times and it blew me away every time. If anyone asked, I boasted it was the best pizza in town. We placed a order to go at the Katy location and it was ready when promised. When we got it home we found it tasty and appealing. But the quality of pizza now generally available keeps this one from getting my "best pizza I ever ate" moniker. The pizza is very tasty and I do recommend it. I might have felt differently if we ate it in the restaurant. Star has an excellent reputation for great pizza, and I will be tying it again. read more

We got two NY style medium sized pizzas, a dessert pizza, and garlic bread. The garlic bread was crazy stale. After 35 minutes, not 18, Still no pizza coming out to my car and I find that my pizza has been ready, but no one has brought it out so I've probably been waiting in the parking lot a lot longer than necessary. I don't typically leave reviews unless I had either a terrible or exceptional experience; however I am taking time to write this in hopes management reads and addresses the issues we encountered. Why? Because I want this place to succeed. I want it to fix the issues so it survives and I have a great pizza place very close to me. The Ben's pizza and the cheese pizza were excellent. The gluten free crust was terrible in my opinion as it was like pita bread almost. It actually reheated crispier than it was fresh. The Spinach salad was okay except my dressing was solidified and the hard boiled eggs were cooked way too long (dark brown rings are just not appealing). The dressing flavor was great but they need to remove from the fridge long enough for people to be able to use. I was sad they didn't have wings yet but understand they are still getting through the opening stages. The main issue was how long it took. They quoted 40 mins and it took an hour. My husband picked up and said they were packed and approx. 8 tables were waiting on food and people were asking what was taking so long. It was very unorganized and no one seemed to understand what was going on. A lady was waiting for a while and after she finally went and asked, they pulled her order out of the warmer. No one really addressed the fact that it was taking long, or apologized. The manager probably should have been offering free fountain drinks or coupons or something... When our order was finally ready, the gluten free pizza was missing. It was finally located in the warmer and labeled no ticket so no clue how long it was in there... and may be why I thought the crust was too soft ‍ Based off the Ben's NY style pizza and my son's cheese pizza, this place has great potential to become our new go to. I just hope they work the kinks out quickly. I will definitely update my review if they do! read more

We ordered two medium pizzas for takeout from Star pizza. One of them was an NY style margherita, and the other was a deep dish style Ben's. Right off the top, both pizzas were generous both in size and portion, and they came out hot and fresh. The ingredients also tasted fresh and both pizzas were very flavorful. We got the crust well done on the NY style and crispy on the deep dish. Personally, I think crispy crust is the way to go. Well done made the pizza a bit too hard to chew, especially if you decide to bake/reheat it if you have leftovers. As someone who has had the best of deep dish in Chicago, I'll say that this deep dish can't compare. However, if you are looking for a different style of pizza that resembles deep dish in some sense, this is probably the closest you'll get here in Houston. And for what it is, it still tastes pretty good. Overall, the food portion and quality here is great and I definitely want to come back sometime to try some of their other pizzas. This will also be my go to spot for the time being if I'm looking for a deep dish style pizza. The main gripe I would have is that the pizzas here are pretty pricey but I suppose you get what you pay for for the most part. read more

We do not live in Katy anymore, we are now about an hour away and we like to always pick up something to eat before we head back home when we run to Katy for errands or after seeing friends & family. When trying to decide what to pick up while we were wrapping up our shopping yesterday, I was so excited to see that Star Pizza was less than a mile away from where we were. I haven't eaten a Star Pizza in about 5 years(Don't make it to Midtown/Heights area much). Called and spoke to Luis. Luis was extremely nice & verified that they were the same as the ones in Houston. The whole experience from the time I called order in, to going in and seeing the awesome desserts and have Luis bring order out to our truck was one of the best customer service we have experienced in awhile. I called and was trying to get a hold of manager, Mario & I believe his name was Stewart, answered the phone twice & took message to have manager call me was very nice too. Mario called us back and I praised his employees, especially Luis. I told him to keep up whatever he was doing because he had some happy employees. We got the large, deep dish Starburst and had to warm it up when we got home because of our long drive...It was amazing as I remembered. It was my hubby's first time and he loved it. Horrible!!! I had been craving Star Pizza all week. I decided to go to a closer location rather than the original location......HORRIBLE DECISION!!!! Arrived at 12:05pm, didnt get greeted until 1210. We ordered cheesy bread, greek salad, and a medium half starburst/ half margarita....the normal. Cheesy bread and greek salad tasted like always. But the pizza took 1.5 hrs to receive-- 2 tables that arrived 15-30 mins after got theirs before us. The pizza was super soggy on the bottom..it was overloaded with vegetables rather than the meat its supposed to be. I tried to speak to someone about it, but that's an impossible task there. The lady just came out, grabbed the food off the table (before I could take a pic), turned to the cashier(her son) and said "really" slamming the plates down on each other. She never said one word to me....never tried to make things right....never apologized!! I LOVE Star Pizza, but this location is The worst !!! read more

Wanted pizza, didn't have a preference & wanted to try a new place, so we tried Star Pizza in Katy for the 1st time. We ordered it to go. Easy ordering and the staff were nice. We decided to go with the deep dish pepperoni: keeping it simple because you can't mess up pepperoni. We weren't disappointed. From the first bite, the sauce had a good taste, a little sweet for me, but good. Everyone else liked the sauce as is. The cheese was on point, hot, thick and tasty. The pepperoni was good but the pie needed a few more pieces. Because the cheese to pepperoni ratio was off we all agreed it was more of a cheese pizza than a pepperoni one. The crust needs a little work. It was thin on the bottom and overrun by the sauce and cheese. I believe the taste & texture of the crust may have been better if we had dined in. The rim of the crust wasn't really edible. It was overcooked, assuming because it was taller than the pie. Overall, the pizza pie was good and we did use our forks We've had Chicago-style pizza at a few places locally that we wouldn't revisit. However, we will definitely give Star Pizza another try. read more

I have been gluten free for 7 years and am so thankful I finally found a really good gluten free pizza! My husband has tried their deep dish and New York style pizzas. He loved them both but prefers the New York style. After living in Chicago for a few years and eating pizza often he said the the deep dish isn't quite the same. We also love their caesar dressing.
