They always gave you the Groupon rate or whatever special they had well this year I had to get a smog so I went in there and they told me, they had a $10 off coupon home. I heard the older gentleman before me questioned the price and said he never paid that and I heard the girl say it's under new ownership. My mistake is that I didn't ask the cost and when they finish my car, it cost $70, I have never paid that and question a Asian man that was not the person who checked me in. There was not much of a line or back up; the nice lady at the counter says '35 minutes'. Okay, good so far. I've had cars smog checked about a hundred times, first time here. I'm chillin at this point. Whelp - they got me done, 2 hours later. No issues to get it to pass, just routine. I know I know, cry baby. Thing is, I looked in the shop and the two dudes there were just standing around. I just wish they hustled a little. Ultimately worked out - though it was way too long on a beautiful Saturday. Don't expect to arrive at 8:30 and be helped right away. The receptionist and the inspector were both late when I arrived at 8:30. The employee told me that he could not help anyone until they arrived and that they typically arrived late. I've been coming here for years because they are have good prices for smog checks. But in the past, I have made appointments and I always had to wait my turn after the "walk-ins" and sometimes up to an hour. I've made 8:30am appointments in the morning to find that they didn't open on time and sometimes 15 min late. But this time, I made the first appointment of the day and arrived on time only to find they weren't open...again. I waited. Others waited. Someone waiting told me they don't bother making appointments anymore because they don't really honor them. You still have to wait after the walk-ins. People started leaving. After nearly half an hour, I gave up. I made an on-line appt at Smog Star Express in Concord. I drove right over. They honored my appointment time and I was done in 10 minutes. Have had great customer service here in the past and have always been given the coupon price whether or not I had a coupon. Have 4 cars and had them all smogged here many times. This time, no offer of a discount and when I went home and printed a coupon and returned, the guy at the desk said he needed to add ANOTHER $10, because I was required by the state to have a STAR station perform the check. I asked at another place if that was legit, and he said it's illegal. I wasn't able to confirm that, but these people clearly don't want to care for long term customers anymore. Very disappointed. 2022 Update - Signed up online for an appointment. The earliest was 11AM. Not great, but okay. Called to see if it would be alright to drop off the vehicle, so that it was at the shop when they were ready to work on it. I planned on walking back to my office. They said "come on down!" Great! Used the option for the $5 off coupon, received the text on my phone, but couldn't open it. They gave me the discount anyway. Yay! Great! Showed up between 9 and 9:30... they took me in right away and I was back at the office toot sweet. Wish the discount was a little better. Oh... and the Wifi works well. Long time customer account good service. Then, what happened? Went in for an oil change in late Sept. Had coupon for $29.95 service. Older man at the counter stared at the coupon, then worked the adding machine and quoted $135.00 in itemized charges total.
