I'm the star of my own snow ice
    Fox E.

Look at me if you want but don't star at me like that. There's snow way you should be doing that. Ice see what you're doing. There is one of these in Dun Huang Plaza which for the longest time was the only one I had been to. Then I came to this one and realized that it is bigger and better and probably the original location. It's really nice and while their products aren't exactly my favourites, with so much choice in Chinatown, I still love coming here and enjoying a little bit of what original old timey Chinatown was like.

Pork Chop Rice (?) to go

Not as crowded as the other nearby Star Snow Ice location, but food quality is just as good. They also open at 10 am, an hour earlier than many places around Chinatown. We ordered various rice options are delighted with the large portions, variety and great taste - all for around $6 to $6.50! Their drinks are of comparably good value as well, with many boba ice tea options art around the $3 range.

Fast and friendly service, delicious dessert. Many options. Affordable prices. Atmosphere is quiet if you decide to eat there.

Yay! Childhood memories! We came here after already being super full from dinner but my brother JUST HAD to eat more. So my boyfriend and barely made a dint in our traditional snow ice with red beans, grass jelly, flan and peanuts. What we did taste was exactly how it should taste, which is awesome. The kids enjoyed their new hippie rolled ice cream it seemed like but I was too full from dinner #1 to even try theirs. The only reason this place gets a 4 instead of 5 is because the place is really small and kind of dirty. I feel like, especially with ice or cold desserts, I need the place to have a certain kind of cleanliness.

This is a hidden gem. It's really not so hidden, I mean it's right off Bellaire but damn! Super delicious, and fantastic service! The fresh orange carrot juice was absolutely refreshing.

    Getting a fish rice plate
    Michelle Y.

Got a fish rice plate for take out. It's not fast food here but really slow. Looks like it's a similar name to the location down the street but this place is much smaller and slower. The food taste the same and is fine though. I'll be back if not in a rush to get to places/ between work locations. I'm usually rushing if I'm not just looking for a sit down place with wifi to get stuff done while I eat/ snack. This may not be the place for that either. Very limited seating and mistily older Asian folks lounging round talking to the owner/worker. Limited English here also. Good thing they have the picture menus though. Just point to what you want and order that way. Fish plate comes with vegetables, rice, fried egg and fried fish. Food is good. My kid loved the food.

    8k after this carb sin!

Every now and then, I decide to indulge in some carb sin. My quest for sugary drinks landed me at star snow ice. There were so many choices, and I found myself overwhelmed. After staring at the menu for about 10 minutes, and watching other drinks being prepared and served, I finally opted for the Lychee snow ice milk drink. Lychee happens to be my favorite fruit, but seeing all these other drinks being prepared, kept throwing off my decision. But at the end of the day, I made the right choice. The line was kinda long, but it went by smoothly and efficiently. It actually was fun being in line, as I was able to observe other drinks that were being prepared to help me with my next visit. I loved my drink. It had a good tooty fruity lychee flavor with plenty of tapioca balls in the drink. It was a pure delight but pretty sugar friendly. They have some amazing shave snow ice too. Nice flavors accompanied with fruit. No issues with parking as there is an entire parking lot you can park at. The prices were pretty economical too. It is definitely a better option for bubble tea and shaved snow.

It's 2016, the menu remains the same.

For a longest time, I thought this place was called Star. After reading every review, this is actually Star Snow Ice #2 明星. It is quite different from other locations. I'd rather come here than at Dun Huang Plaza. I was amazed to see a huge (as compared the front of store) area behind the production counter. I'm bringing a thirsty crowd this weekend and I want everyone to feel comfortable. Another unbelievable sight, I saw the prices from the first reviewer Anji A from late 2011. They haven't changed the prices a bit, so does the decor. Just making sure this biz page doesn't move, I'm reviewing the one at Jusgo Plaza. I love to see how my drinks are made. First, I select an item from the cooler (I have trouble reading from the glowing menu board). Second, the server prepares the ingredient in a blender cup. He/she add a spoon of powdered flavor and ice cubes. Then, the cup is on the blender whole he/she put tapioca balls in a cup. Finally, my drink is assembled in front of me. That was an exciting journey. A little set back, I always see some boxes crowding at the end of counter. It would be nice to clean it up. Thank you.

Giving them 1 star because the crispy pork was the only thing that was good here. I ordered the spicy crispy tofu and it wasn't even super crispy at all. All I tasted was the sogginess. I also order the Szechuan noodles and I don't understand why they named it that. There is no Szechuan taste in it whatsoever; instead, it taste just like they poured nasty peanut sauce all over the noodles. I think what disgusted me the most was that this place was not sanitary at all. The person that was bringing out the food was also cleaning, wiping tables, and pushing the busing cart. She would do all of that and then proceed to pick up food plates to bring to customers. THAT IS DISGUSTING.

Hoisen sauce, saracha hot sauce, topped with hot oil and sprigs of cilantro- Calamari
    Sandra B.

Great little gem. Food and drinks are a great value. We almost always grab a plate (at least) of the appitizers calamari. our go to drinks are the cheap but delicious thai teas for 2.50! Can't beat that. Coffee float with coffee jelly is also one of my regular orders here. It comes with a scoop of ice cream in the drink! Yum! A few rice plates we've gotten and would recommend, the spicy chicken nugget plate and the chicken cutlet (fried flattened plate size chicken). Each comes with like ground pork and chopped pickled veggie on top of the rice, a few pieces of fried tofu to accompany the generous portion of chicken with a fried egg to top it off.

The texture of the shaved ice felt great, very solid if you enjoy a thicker shaved ice treat. Pandan Waffle I haven't had one in years and I loved it. It's not overpowering and at the end of a day, still a waffle but it's great. Now combine a Pandan Waffle and the shaved ice? Oh man even better! Something a bit more unique about this place is they offer Halo Halo (A Filipino cold dessert) and of course Che (A Vietnamese cold dessert). Of course, being in Chinatown they have quite the competition with every block competing against each other Overall I would recommend Bambu for their dessert and drink options. Plenty of options to choose from from your classic milk teas, to blended coffees, smoothies, cold desserts, and shaved ice.

The lounge like ambiance, along with their diner-like menu, is a major selling point for folks and has been one of the reasons for their popularity over the better part of the last two decades. It is a bit trendy and plays music that you would think of and in a Miami lounge or a pretentious New York Club. While service is not their strong suit, the clean bathrooms, spacious seating, and semi-open kitchen makes up for some 'tudes from the staff. The menu is most definitely Asian, but blends from a predominantly Chinese menu and featuring various Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese items. The latter includes sushi, which is likely one of the only spots in the neighborhood that still has it after midnight. They have bluefin tuna and sea urchin, in which Cafe 101 is one of the only late night spots to offer it. Their beef chow fun is nice and greasy, but filled with excessive onions, bean sprouts, and various other veggies that almost take away from the noodles and beef (which was nicely cooked). Their shrimp and egg came in a nice set, which was a good surprise and surprisingly well executed. This is also a spot for Japanese curry, and even though it's not the best, it most certainly does the job. Taiwanese popcorn chicken is on point, cumin lamb is unsurprisingly spicy, and Singapore chow mai fun has a tinge of solid wok hei.
