I want to start off by saying that the guys here were both friendly and quick! Pulled my car in after fixing a smog problem I'd been fighting for a year. Tech pulled the car in and popped the hood, then promptly called me in... Told me he'd "have to pass on this one" because "I don't recognize all this (general hand gesture toward engine bay) it's not stock" since my car doesn't have any major mods done, I asked for clarification... It seemed my blue silicone coolant hoses were at fault (Not a performance modification, these a direct replacement for stock coolant hoses, same size, shape, and routing, just blue) A little surprised at this lack of experience at a certified STAR station I explained them, "these are the same as stock hoses, it's just a longer lasting material" he replied "I believe you, I'm not arguing that, but I don't recognize them, and Volkswagen didn't do it like that so you'll need to take it to someone with more experience". So I took my car down to Poway Smog, who actually understand basic engine theory and how it relates to emissions testing. Not only are Poway Smog a great shop with knowledgable techs, but they also do registrations as well. I got my car smogged and new tags all at the same place. Bottom line if your car is bone stock with no modifications Roger and Nick probably do a great job. They are attentive and get people through quickly. If you have any smog concerns however, go just a bit farther down Poway road to the professionals who really know what they are doing! read more

What great service! I called earlier in the day to see if any appt's were available around lunch time and was greeted by a friendly, helpful individual on the phone who found a time that worked for me. When I showed up (a little late), I was welcomed in and quickly taken care of. Between managing myself and another customer, my paperwork was completed and my car taken into the garage. I barely had enough time to log onto their free Wifi and check a couple of emails before I was told my car was ready - so fast! I've been to other smog stations over the years and no one has come close to this level of service and speed. My costs were clearly defined before testing began (test + license) and I couldn't have been happier with the service. I would highly recommend to anyone who dreads seeing the "SMOG Certification Required" show up on their yearly car registration form. read more

These guys are great! Today I had to get my first smog check and I was nervous because I am a woman and I'm young and sometimes mechanics can take advantage of that but these guys were wonderful! Roger and Alan were so helpful and nice and they know what they're doing. If you're due for a smog check - this is definitely the place to go! They were inexpensive, super fast (it only took about 10 minutes!), and so sweet. While I was waiting I wanted to walk over to a store really quickly and I didn't even have to ask them for help because they immediately offered to look up directions for how to get there! They also have a very clean waiting area with a TV - not that you'll need to use it because they work so quickly! Now that I'm done I feel so much less stressed out and Roger and Alan are to thank for that. Love this place! read more

No one likes getting that notice that you need a smog check, let along a star smog check. However, these guys make it painless and quick to get it checked off your to do list. Sergio did a great job of getting my paperwork taken care of and the technician Nick got my car taken care of super quickly and efficiently. I went in expecting to be there an hour or more and was really surprised and happy that I was there no more than 20 minutes from start to finish. FIVE Stars, I can't give them less! I called and they asked if I could be there in 15 mins. they were just backing their previous customers car out and mine was pulled in. I walked around sprouts for 20 mins. and my car was done, I paid just as the next appointment walked in. Easy to find, if you know Sprouts on Poway Rd. they are 100 feet away in the Mobil Station . Very nice, they have a nice waiting room but with all the stores within a couple of hundred feet, the time went by in a flash. read more

Stopped by here on a Friday after 5pm. They were about to close but said they would do my smog check. They took my car in and I met Kevin who quickly took care of my paperwork. We talked a little about cars, he gave me some good tips, and my vehicle was ready in about ten minutes. This place is under new ownership and was nicely remodeled (reopened probably in late 2012). I brought my diesel pick up truck in for a smog check. They quoted me $78.00, $20.00 more than the regular price for a car because they explained that it weighs more and it puts more ware on the rolling equipment. There is not much to check to smog a diesel engine. They did the smog check without ever rolling into the stall and onto the rolling wheel equipment. When I questioned them about it they said that what they were told to say. Feeling a bit ripped off. read more

Very friendly and explained the "probable" changes in the registration step and what to expect in terms of delays from DMV due to COVID. Very competitive price wise, with the coupon. Found this place as I was searching Yelp this morning. Boy, I'm happy that I did. The dude, Kevin, was energetic and professional. I came in expecting him to spend up to an hour on my car, so I went down to buy a some Starbuck. I came back thinking he was still working on my car, only to find out it was done. I found myself in the unfortunate dilemma of needing a smog the very same day my registration was due and it was already 1:30pm on a Saturday. I called and asked if it was a remote possibility to get this done and he said "Sure, come on over!". Being early pays off! Thinking the shop opens at 8am, I show up 10 minutes early hoping to be the first in line. Luckily the Servicer, Kevin, decided to come in early also, as the shop doesn't open until 8:30am. I was out by 8:10am, before the shop was technically open. Arrived a bit early but the gentleman who runs the shop took me before the official opening time of 8:30am. In and out within 20 minutes. Very professional. I would be leaving a 5-star review regardless if my car passed. If you give this guy a low rating because your car is more toxic than a tire fire and fails the smog test, don't blame the shop. read more
