Let's start with the fact that I am a GOLD CARD HOLDER...I spend way to much money at Starbucks for them not to give me and/or sell me a cups of ice. I showed the young lady at register that I was willing to use my Starbucks cash on my Mobile app and while I understand they want to insure customers are making a purchase, the fact that as a customer who is willing to purchase ice water cannot is a bit much. While discussing with another customer, I also learned that you apparently need to make a purchase before you can utilize the WiFi. A few important facts here: 1). You are in a black community that tends to be low income already. 2). It is the summer!!!!! Over 90 degrees outside. 3). A cup of ice will cost the company less than 50¢ 4). Came in this morning, not sure what I walked into but one of the workers was confronting the others in the front of the store? Didn't catch her name but she was a heavy black woman with a shaved head who seemed to be very upset at the girls making the drinks and was reprimanding them where we all could hear. Extremely unprofessional, personal issues should NOT be handled in front of customers especially when this lady seemed to be the one in charge by the way the girls just took it. Worst Starbucks in Atlanta. Uncomfortable seating, ugly weird layout (feels like a repurposed McDonald's), usually out of multiple food options, and completely disorganized -- they don't seem to have a system for tracking or monitoring order completion. The last three times I have been in the customer service has not been good and it takes forever to get a grande latte. Multiple people come in after me. Order just like I did, not mobile orders, and leave way before my coffee is ever started. Today I actually had to ask if my beverage was coming and she said it was coming. This location has 2 very recent one-star reviews written about it for a reason. I frequent various Starbucks locations roughly 2-3x a week - it's my go-to spot for a convenient coffee. It's not common for me to have any complaints as I believe Starbucks does a decent job at consistency between their locations. But at this particular location, the cashier was not friendly and I noticed she even treated me very differently than the customer in front of me. I politely asked her for the bathroom code and was told I had to make a purchase. Was not going to argue (I guess she's trained to say that and that's completely fine, not her fault) so I agreed to make a purchase to obtain the bathroom code. After I paid, she started talking to her coworker and I nicely asked her again to please tell me the code. She rolled her eyes at me! Just absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional behavior. I think a lot of the people sitting/working in Starbucks do so because they're comfortable with the environment and level of service and it's embarrassing to tarnish that. Looking at some other reviews and charging people for ice water/WiFi + rude face to face service is not good for this location or Starbucks as a whole. read more

Lady just tried to justify me waiting at curbside for 10 min (ordered 10 min prior to arriving, AFTER morning rush) to the point where I have to come in and grab it myself when I watched them have no customers in the store. Not the best! We came into Starbucks after having lunch, just looking for coffee, but we came up with problems along the way. Neither of us had been in this location, which is in the Midtown Promenade shopping center (nearest to Mellow Mushroom, but also close to Trader Joe's), so it was worth a shot for both of us. We ordered a "Doppio", which is a double espresso shot, and I also asked what their least cafeinated drink was. I got a very confusing answer and we both got what we didn't want. Going on the least cafeinated drink, I was told they could split drinks, using half decaf and someting like a half cappuchino. After a long explanation that didn't help me, I just asked to get a plain decaf coffee. Instead I got a decaf cappuchino! In terms of the Doppio, it appeared that only one espresso shot was given, just based on the volume of what was in the cup. Maybe other starbucks locations are more generous? I can't say, but the volume just was off. Inside, the Starbucks was clean, with plenty of seating for those who wanted to study. Parking is shared in this lot, and we had no real problems at all finding parking. Getting out of this busy area would be a nightmare without a redlight, but fortunately there is one, so no worries about that! There definitely are benefits to this Starbucks...location being one of them, with it being so close to piedmont park, and the beltline. Customer service was also at least trying the help, though sadly they often confused me and we got what we didn't order. This Starbucks is located near the intersection of Monroe Dr and Virginia Ave near the southeast corner of Piedmont Park. It pretty much straddles the border between Midtown and Virginia-Highland and is part of the busy Midtown Promenade shopping center (Trader Joe's). It's also close to the Monroe Dr entry point for the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail. This store has both indoor and outdoor (limited) seating along with a limited selection of hot foods and baked goods. My girlfriend and her classmates like to study here a lot. They noticed that this Starbucks gets packed with lots of high school students, from Grady High school across the street, on weekdays around 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Also, it can be hard to find parking in the afternoons and evenings due to Trader Joe's and other businesses at Midtown Promenade. After walking up the BeltLine from Old Fourth Ward to Piedmont Park, this Starbucks was a nice pit stop. I picked up a Strawberry Acai Refresher and it hit the spot. The menu says it has caffeine, but I think it's a miniscule amount because I didn't feel anything. The drink basically consists of water, ice, fruit juice, and freeze-dried strawberries. The caffeine comes from green coffee extract. I think the strawberries are mainly for presentation, but they do add a bit of flavor. Good service. Cool staff. I'd come back and would order the strawberry acai drink again, though it's far from all natural. read more

This Starbucks is in a location that has Trader Joe's, Tuesday Morning, and a few other stores. It is near Piedmont Park. This location seems like it is used to being fast paced and busy, but still the barista and cashier were nice . My order was correct and was completed in a reasonable amount of time. My PSL and morning bun both tasted great. The location is spacious with a lot of room for customers who want to sit for a while or use their laptops. The restrooms were clean and functioning. Although I often branch out and try new places, Starbucks is always my benchmark for coffee quality. Hey, they started it after all! That being said, it is safe to say that no two Starbucks are exaclty alike. Kind of like a snowflake, they may all look the same from a distance but when you get up close and personal you will learn otherwise. This here Starbucks is definitely my favorite in Atlanta. The store is in an awesome location, right near Piedmont park and the baristas are always friendly and fast. I like the setup of this store and the big ol' patio in the back is perfect for people watching. A search of local in-town Starbucks for somewhere to sit leaves few options. The Moreland Starbucks has a couple of seats but the small size of the store is overwhelmed by the line for coffee. (And aggressive booting practices will leave you nervous that your car will be booted.) The Downtown Decatur location has great space, but no parking. 14th and West Peachtree has a vibe that is like NYC, and is loud as well. (Plus, parking is very hard to come by.) Atlantic Station is not really a Starbucks and you'll get charged for extras. 7th and Peachtree is a pickup place in the afternoons, with the seats being taken by participants in an unstated meat market. That said, Monroe Drive -- aside from when high school kids descend -- offers great ambiance, a place to sit and do some work, and people watching. Best location in-town if you plan to stay a while. read more

This Starbucks is in the super-busy shopping center called Midtown Promenade. I think the Midtown Promenade is always busy. Every time I come here, you need to fight for parking. The Starbucks is in a very visible location. It is nice and cozy inside. It's not big, but big enough. There are about few tables where you can drink your warm latte or study. It is located right off the Beltline. So when you're doing your long-boarding or whatever, you can come in and get a coffee to relax. The people who work here were friendly. I don't have any complaints. The drink I got, Matcha Latte with coconut milk and no sweetener was made well. It was delicious. I'm sure it's standard for all Starbucks these days, but I'm glad they had a separate container for coconut/almond milk, regular milk, and soy milk. I spent over 30 minutes in another Starbucks the day prior waiting on a drink when there were just 2 people waiting on drinks when I ordered. Today at this location on Monroe, there must have been 15 of us in line, but I got my drink within 10 minutes. It was awesome. Also, since my cup was filled to the brim with coffee (THANK YOU AGAIN!), they gave me a small cup with a lid that was filled with milk so I could mix it when I got to my destination. I've used mobile orders 2-3 times a week at this location the last year, and your order WILL be wrong 60% of the time. Half the staff is super nice and will make the corrections, the other half ignore you while you stand at the counter and then not offer any substitutes for the incorrect order. If you go to this location order at the counter and not on the mobile app, that way you don't pre pay for items they are of stock on but haven't updated their inventory. As for customer service. It's a gamble. 50% chance you get the really great ones, 50% chance you get the ones that pretend you're invisible. read more

I was here yesterday after my lunch at MetroFresh to catch up on some online work and found it awfully convenient that they had seating along the windows that face the parking lot. This being so because I had my laptop with me and they conveniently had power outlets underneath the bar area so that us customers can have a free flowing source of electric current for our laptops & cell phones. I didn't take advantage of the free wi-fi because I have my own personal cell phone carrier but was happy to sit and spend a few hours pounding away on my keyboard as I got work done. The staff is super friendly, the bathrooms are clean (enough) and the cafe itself had lots of seating, cushioned seats and large tables for groups. The most winning attribute of this particular Starbucks is the patio, pure and simple. It's spacious and comfortable-with plenty of shade in the afternoon. Parking is a battle, for sure. But a few laps around the parking lot will generally ensure a vacant parking space. This place always seems full of people who are enjoying Piedmont park and the BeltLine. A Starbucks is a Starbucks, right? You would think so, particularly in Midtown when you have so many to pick from. However, I think this is actually one of the better ones in the area. The service is friendlier and speedier, so while it's not the biggest place to hangout and study, it's good if you just want to get a drink quickly. Though the parking lot is often hectic because it shares the lot with Trader Joe's and the other establishments in this strip mall, the area directly outside the store is not as crowded as the rest of the lot. Ah, the treasure that is a virtually untapped Starbucks. Even at ten till 8 AM, a clean beige floor free of the clutter of high heeled shoes and the legs of fashionable pant suits stretches out in front of me. I turn left, then right, and there are open plush chairs, bare tables, and *empty plugs* as far as the eye can see. There is nothing but a few scant moments between me and my grande nonfat latte. A chipper barista greets me, "welcome to Starbucks! Would you like to try a sample of our portabello spinach panini?" The newly opened Starbucks in Midtown Promenade has much promise. My latte was good but made just a tad inartfully (sad that I can tell), but I'm confident that will change. Staff is friendly and the place seems to be run efficiently. The barista told me they are currently open till at least 10 every night (11 on Fri & Sat), just in time for me to study for the Georgia bar!!! They said they are probably going to be open even LATER soon!!! I am thinking about getting a GOLD CARD. Unfortunately, the addition of this Starbucks is not going to help the parking problem there, but I can't say I'm displeased with the development, especially since they closed the one at 16th & Peachtree near my office. Plus, I can always walk my lazy self from my apartment three blocks away if I'm so concerned about parking. PS - YES, I did want to try the portabello spinach panini. It was delicious. I'm unimpressed with this place. It's right across the street from where I work and it seems to be declining in overall quality. The cons as of now: 1. The staff are pretty task oriented and seem to fall behind on their work easily. I've had to wait for a bit to get an order. 2. Not very good at making frappucinos. They don't use enough ice so it comes out more like a sludge than a frozen treat. I have to stick it a freezer for a bit back at work. 3. I have a discount card sold by the local school for 10% off each order and they didn't bother honoring it even when mentioned I had one. I bought the card to support the football team and get a simple discount out of it. The card works at other businesses as well but not sure if I'm bothering with this place again. That's a bit of an integrity issue. In fact, I think the guy ignored me when I mentioned it to him. 4. Seems like the staff is revolving as of late. If you've lived any amount of time in Midtown, Monroe Drive at 10th Street is a huge cluster of traffic and full of THOSE people (don't be that person) who cut in last minute when two lanes turn into one by the Grady High School stadium. If you don't mind the sound of traffic, occasional screeching of brakes or car horns during those ill-fated attempts, the Starbucks here actually has a very nice patio, that's actually a deck, with comfortable seats, tall trees and a view that almost overlooks Piedmont Park. During the school year, high schoolers descend on the establishment when school lets out between 3 and 4 p.m. There is free WiFi, sometimes the signal can be slow. If not enjoying the great outdoors, inside there are a few comfy chairs, small tables, one large table and a counterspace looking out one of the windows. The parking lot often gets full, so this spot better on the weekdays and before 6 p.m. Otherwise, it is a central spot to do some work and feel connected to the pulse of the city without actually being in it. Staff has always been friendly and pleasant, and combined with the strong coffee or hot tea, you can zone out the traffic show out front. read more

Starbucks is pretty much the same everywhere, at least in terms of the what you get to eat and drink. Yet, the overall experience may vary depending on the location. In Atlanta, I don't think you can find a starbucks more diverse than this one. Not just in race, sexual orientation but also in age groups and occupations. You may see students studying here with their laptops or a book club group, or an small business owner conducting interview or someone just looking cruise. It's a place for everyone. This is one location where I can just hangout by myself and not get bored. Other than that, I like their new 'Oprah chai tea latte'(tea and chai are the same in different languages). A favorite stop before my Trader Joe's run - tonight marked an alarming thing for me. Coffee not the problem , but tonight I paid with my App like I always do and the math wasn't adding up. I politely went back to the register to request a copy of my receipt and that's when I knew I got scammed. I was overcharged for my latte and the guy at the register made an attempt to play dumb that he didn't know why an additional charge was on my tab. I simply asked for the receipt , but I said nothing about my suspicions. Count your change , do the math people bc this was not an accident. I didn't have to ask for a refund - they issued one and then billed me the correct amount. What happens if each customer is billed an extra $.80 plus tax?? read more

I usually stop by here on my way to Trader Joe's, since my partner has to have a cup of coffee everyday and from anywhere. Parking here is such a job. You literally have to go around the parking lot a few times and hunt for one before anyone else takes it, but I don't mind. It kind of makes it fun. I will warn you though, do not come during the time that the high school lets out. There will be children EVERYWHERE running around the cafe and laying down on the patio couches making out. Gross. Weekend mornings are my favorite. I love to either get up early and go out for a long run or just sit and relax with some coffee and breakfast. Either way, this coffee shop is perfect. It is located right off the belt line, so it is easy to stop in after a run or before a nice leisurely walk. They have a good amount of outdoor seating both covered and uncovered. This past weekend I brought my pup and fiancee here and read the paper and had breakfast. I ordered a bagel and latte, my fiancee ordered a breakfast sandwich and coffee, and my pup was given a puppachinno (whipped cream in a small cup). We sat outside and all enjoyed our respective drinks and breakfast. (Just as a heads up for those with pups, apparently giving sugar to a puppy causes the same reaction as small children, she was literally bouncing all over the house later that morning... eek! ha) There is also a good amount of space inside for those wanting to study/work. My only downside is that they are fairly slow here, always has a line. They could be a bit more efficient like some of the other locations. The other small issues are that there is no drive-thru, and the parking can sometimes be tricky because it is shared with a few other businesses, but never so bad that I have left without going in... read more
