This Starbucks is located in the Avon Marketplace, in between GAP and LensCrafters. There were plenty of parking but there is no drive through. That didn't seem to deter people from going; when I went, there was a line and a long list of online orders. The Starbucks was very nice and spacious inside. There were plenty of seating. This was my first time here and I placed an order on the app prior to going. At first I waited in the line, then I realized a bunch of people came in to pick up their drinks at the other side of the counter and left. Apparently, there is an online order pickup section and a screen showing where my place was, on the list. I went to waiting area and saw that they placed the orders in alphabetical order. As a newbie, I didn't notice a sign that says "Online Order Pickup". Now I know! Maybe they should add that? After a few more minutes, my order was ready. I had the grande Chestnut praline latte; this was the new seasonal drink, it was delicious! I ordered a cake pop for my son, which he loved. My husband loves their cold brew, so that was on the order. Starbucks is expensive but the quality is good. I recommend using the app to get points for discounts. This particular Starbucks is a constant clusterfk - I can't figure out why they're always grossly understaffed for the amount of high traffic they get. Between walk ins, mobile orders and DoorDash this location is always really busy. The manager stands around doing nothing. Her staff is completely overwhelmed and she just looks on, or hides out in the back. It's so poorly managed it's a literal joke. I had 3 people ahead of me in line and waited... LITERALLY!... 30 minutes for a simple coffee. The woman taking orders was scrambling to get food orders completed and the 2 other baristas couldn't keep up w/the volume....The manager should be fired. Get someone competent FFS. read more

Three people behind the counter, online orders are prioritized over in-store customers. If anyone in line orders food, there were no orders being taken. This Starbucks is always super busy and it's hard to find a seat, however I've never been unhappy with my food or drink. The place is clean and I love the little "fireplace" like area to sit. They move quickly and are friendly. If it was a drive thru that would be amazing, I'd definitely come on my way to work. Maybe if I wake up a little earlier I can make that happen. This Starbucks is always busy BUT their baristas are rockstars. The drinks are always on point! Keep in mind that you may need to wait a little longer (there aren't many other Starbucks in the area) but it will be worth it. Just remember that they are working hard and doing the best they can. I'm always very pleased when I come to this location the Baristas are amazing you might have to wait a few minutes but what Starbucks do you ever not have to wait, because it's usually pretty crowded but it's definitely worth the wait. Everybody is so friendly the atmosphere is absolutely amazing the Wi-Fi is always on it's a great place to get caught up on some work and I see a lot of students getting caught up on work also which is great to see while having a cup of coffee with a few friends. I love Starbucks around the holidays because they have the specialty drinks I think I've tried them all I have loved the creme brulee I always get extra of the crispy topping on the whipped cream it's so yummy. Today I went with a coffee with oat milk with sweet cream on top and my daughter got the Santa Claus cookie. The only thing I wish the Starbucks had was a drive-thru but as you know in this area you are not going to find a drive-thru so all in all I definitely recommend Starbucks it has never done me wrong and all the years I've been coming. And like I said the Baristas are very quick and they are really good at getting your drink done and if they happen to make a mistake it is quickly fixed for you. I love Starbucks mainly for its highly customizable menu. I've found my drink, which isn't easy to replicate in other coffee shops. Unfortunately, the menu items can be expensive, and the quality isn't always consistent. Above all else, I like the layout of this location. While many Starbucks are built from scratch, this one is an old Au Bon Pain turned into a Starbucks. As a result, they have a huge dining area and even a fireplace! read more

I work at a Starbucks so I know how the drinks are supposed to be made, yet every time I get a tea or refresher from the Avon store its made incorrectly. They must not be trained to make them properly which is a shame because its like 2 hours of work to grasp. They will water down the tea lemonades (not a standard procedure) and they do not shake any iced drinks other than matcha which makes the drinks dry and bitter. Definitely stay away if your looking for a refreshing drink, but if you just need some coffee or a latte they probably won't mess it up too bad. If you're in the area and going north, Simsbury and Granby have great service and actually know how to make drinks, or just go to Dunkin' across the street if your not leaving the area (their tea doesn't need to be shaken unlike ours so it tastes fine, I'm no Starbucks shill lol). read more

The coffee is exactly what you know it is- Starbucks, however the staff here is really lacking when it comes to customer service. Today- and this has happened multiple times which lead to me writing this, not just once- I've placed mobile orders and go to pick them up after the designated time, and proceed to wait in a big cluster of people waiting for drinks. Look, I get it, it's Starbucks and it gets busy, it's not the issue. The baristas are making drinks, I see them putting the stickers on the cups, not saying anything, and just putting the order on the back counter with the rest of the mobile orders (I assume Because there was theft if left for customers to pick up). So now the onus is on the customer to interrupt the clearly busy baristas who are preoccupied and are avoiding eye contact with people waiting to the side. I just feel like I am annoying them- and maybe they think another barista will help, but there were a few of us just standing there waiting for an opportunity to say our name and get out order. This is just a heads up- you'll get your stuff, but you're gonna wait and you probably will have to bother them so they look at you. read more

Tons of space! Good ambiance. Hot coffee!! I stopped by here before a morning appointment in Avon and was very impressed! This location doesn't look like much from the road (strip plaza), but the interior has lovely tall ceilings and a lot of natural light coming in from the storefront. There's a ton of different seating options too - this store boasts ample square footage. Despite being a busy morning, I still managed to find a comfy seat by the (unfortunately unlit) fire. I also appreciate the free wifi and a copy of the Hartford Courant available by my side. Because this location is in a strip mall, there's loads of parking. Absolutely the worst mobile order experience I have had with any coffee company. Order was placed at 1:47pm with an estimated 6-8 minute wait for the drink. I arrived at the counter to get my drink which was not yet ready and asked the barista about it. He commented with "yeah your drink is a few drinks down." I did not get my order until 20 minutes after it was placed. If the wait time is going to be double for mobile ordering, it would be courteous for the business to make the customer aware of this. It is a very busy location but I will give them credit for the hard work. They will make your drink over if it is not correct and almost always say have a nice day etc. There was only one employee who was rude to me and did not make my drink over which kind of stunk but it's OK in the long run. This is a review for ALL Starbucks in the world. Not just the Avon location. This is just the one I go to on the weekends when I'm home and desperately in need of a latte and Hartford Baking Company is just too far to drive. Luckily in a week I'll no longer have to resort to Starbucks. I really have to say that I cringe at the thought of drinking Starbucks now that I've tasted what real coffee can be like. The only way I can drink the espresso is if the flavor is masked by some type of sugary additive. My mom even had a double shot of espresso recently and threw it out after one sip--why so bitter? I can say that Starbucks employees are always nice, I've never met one who has been unfriendly. The predictable cafes always look the same exact way, which can be either disappointing or comforting. I've been well over 20 times and can say they've gotten my drink order right almost every single time. That is one thing you can always count on at Starbucks. Starbucks can be found all over the country and are pretty much carbon copies of each other. This one is no exception and would rate 3 stars, as it meets our expectations for a chain coffee shop. However, during out visit we requested two Komodo dark roast pour overs and were told that they would not open a bag of Komodo. Rather the Christmas blend was open and that she could do a pour over with that but why bother since it was already brewed. Excuse me? Anyone that knows anything about coffee, and I'm pretty sure a batista should, knows a pour over gives a much richer flavor. I get decaf Frappucinos here in the summer, I come here a lot, as this is my favorite Starbucks. Tonight my coffee was unknowingly regular and not decaf. By that time, I had consumed half of it. I am on heart meds and have hypertension and a rare lung condition, which is why I drink decaf, with zero problems. For some reason Starbucks decaf espresso or coffee does not affect me and cause insomnia. BUT, Baristas MUST be careful not to screw that up or they can end up killing people. I was up all night, with what felt like gasoline coursing through my veins. Not a happy camper. One night with no sleep throws off the whole week of sleep for me and can cause serious health implications as my weak immune system needs rest to heal and fight off germs.
