The quality at Starbucks has quickly diminished and the service as well. The prices go up but the quality goes down. There is one particular gentleman, tall with glasses and blonde, extremely rude. He mutters things under his breath when we order more than 2 drinks and talks about the customers to another coworker IN FRONT OF THEM. After he took our order (4 drinks in total) he turns around and says "I hope they stop ordering from us." We literally ordered one hot latte and 4 brown sugar shaken espressos ??? Maybe the shaken espressos are difficult to make or something but that's literally your job. Not to mention, the drinks are never full - there's always 2 inches of empty space at the top. In terms of ambiance, it's in a dark shady location. It's unfortunate that this is the closest one to us. We hope more coffee shops open in the future so we can stop going to Starbucks. read more

I wanted to share some honest feedback about my recent experiences at this Starbucks location. Over the past few weeks, it seems like the store may have received some internal push to improve customer service, which is understandable -- but it's started to feel a bit overbearing, especially during busy morning hours. There's one employee in particular -- a tall, blonde man with glasses -- who consistently tries to engage customers in extended conversations. While I can appreciate a friendly demeanor, the timing and tone feel out of place. Most people coming in around 8 a.m. are just trying to grab their coffee and head to work. Many of us have AirPods in, eyes down, and clearly aren't in the mood for small talk about weekend plans or casual chit-chat. It doesn't come across as natural customer service -- it feels forced and performative, almost like he's trying to overcompensate for previous complaints. The issue is, in trying so hard to be friendly, it actually creates discomfort. You can see it on other customers' faces too: awkward smiles, polite nods, and people trying to disengage as quickly as possible. Just had a bad experience at this location. I placed my order online. When I picked it up I was handed my order by the barista who made it. When I got to my office I realized it was the wrong order. I returned to the shop to get the right drink. I handed it back to the same barista and explained it wasn't what I ordered. The name label on the cup was accurate. Without saying anything he then took the label off the cup and emptied. The shop only had two customers in it. He then took his time to replace the order. Approximately 5-minutes. He then handed my the order without saying a word...no apology or thank you! When you pay $6.50 for a coffee and a $1 tip it would be nice to get acknowledged. read more

I visited this location yesterday and today. Aurora is a great barista with a strong understanding on how to approach customer service. When I arrived in yesterday to pick up some pumpkin loaves for my kiddos, she was kind enough to let me know about an offer that I have for a beverage today. I appreciated the heads up otherwise I would not have paid attention. I informed her that I would come back today to purchase a beverage and other things Today upon purchasing two cake pops and a beverage, one of her colleagues did not process the offer correctly even though I specifically told her that I had a offer to redeem . She ended up overcharging me my order. When attempting to rebate my order she also did it incorrectly and ended up short-changing me on my refund. Despite the long line of people waiting to place orders and cranking out drinks in the process, Aurora calmly and politely stepped up to the plate and remembered my visit from the day prior and handled the situation well. I sincerely appreciated her intervention because her colleague was clearly struggling and I was in a time crunch to get back on the road. I was about to cancel my entire order but Aurora was able to address the situation, provide a resolution, and already had my drink made while this issue was going on. It is not often that you find somebody who is able to multitask, have an awareness of what's going on and provide prompt resolutions. Thank you Aurora. After my red eye flight, I had some time before my train departed from South Station. I dropped by for a quick bite, and was glad to see that it was actually open (I've tried to stop by on a weekend before and it was closed). This location was a bit busy (but which Starbucks isn't?). Despite having a number of orders to fulfill, the workers friendly, and speedy (I was in and out in 10 minutes). My bacon, gouda, egg sandwich was nice and hot -- and my iced coffee with oat milk had the perfect ratio of milk to coffee. read more

Tasty drinks and quick/easy service from the baristas but there was no soap in the bathroom

Baristas will be filling up their stations, didn't even greet me while I stood in front of the register for 5 minutes to order. Had to do it online. I know that working with the public is extremely difficult, but that doesn't excuse them to at least recognize me at their store. It's a big store, seats available, but not even trays on the counter, and because of that, we have to unfortunately "bother" the baristas, all that for a not so good ten bucks coffee. This Starbucks has had an "Out if Order" sign on their bathroom for at least a year. Either they haven't bothered to fix it (which seems like a health code issue) or they are lying about it being out of order because they don't want people using it. This Starbucks is on a Main Street in the city so gets a lot of traffic. The drinks are ok but the mobile order wait is considerable and often they get the order wrong even though it is labeled on colored print out stickers and not someone's illegible handwriting. read more

This location is always my go-to location because it's near my office and the service is usually pretty good. However, the past few days, I feel like they have been lacking with customer service. It was around 3pm when my co-worker and I decided to go grab some coffee and something to snack on. It wasn't as busy so we thought we'd be in and out of the place pretty quickly. All I ordered was a croissant to be toasted and it took almost 20 minutes for them to do it! My co-worker had already gotten her drink 10 minutes before me and it wasn't until I asked about my order that they decided to check on it. If it was busy, I would've understood but they were not and they weren't short staffed either. I came here again recently to grab coffee and I asked for my drink to be less sweetened. They are usually very tentative with specific instructions to orders, but for some reason, they decided not to be on the day I went. Granted, it may not be a big deal to some people, but I go here often enough that they usually remember what I like to get and I'm usually not giving them super specific instructions - it's just for my drink to be less sweetened. Okay, I am a converted Boston fan. Granted I was visiting for work and did not have much time to truly revel in my hours of freedom, but I had just finished walking through Boston Common and my flight was going out in about 3 hours, so I swished into this Starbucks looking for Internet access as well as my usual latte for a quick pick-me-up. The temperature had dropped considerably during my stay here to a low of 47 degrees the night before on Sunday (Saturday was humid and hot!) I ordered the Red Sox latte in celebration of the Sox win. And I did not mind that it was a typical latte with whipped cream, but they threw a bunch of red sugared sprinkles on top. I could live with that. The baristas were friendly and chatty, even more appropriate, since I loved listening to the accents. I also logged on to catch up on emails and had a view of the walkway next to me where every 5 minutes or so, a bunch of nicely suited men and women walked briskly by, on their way to the finance district. They have a wireless hotspot here powered by T Mobile. For $9.99, you get a day access and it signed me on quickly. The coffee here was quite good, and looks like they make more liberal use of the steamed milk, which is good for me since I like my lattes a bit more creamy. I want to like this Starbucks. I really do. It's literally less than a 1 minute walk from my office. But they continue to miss my drink or make it wrong. I understand that when you work in a coffee establishment, it's busy in the mornings. I worked at Dunkin Donuts for 6 years, trust me, I know how it is. Today, however, was the last straw for my morning visits. Me: I'll have a iced venti nonfat no whip mocha, with an extra shot, please Person taking order: Sure I repeat my order to the cashier (let's call him John for purposes of this review), he rings me up, I move to the bar area to wait for my drink. Fast forward close to 10 minutes later, still no sign of my drink. WTF?? 10 minutes? But okay, I need my coffee, it's fine. And now John is making drinks. But wait. What's this? A cup with my name being filled with Frappuccino base? Please note, my cup was actually marked correctly, nowhere on it did it say anything about a Frappuccino. Me: Excuse me, is that for Sarah? John: Yes Me; Okay, I didn't want a Frappuccino though, I just wanted a mocha John (with extreme attitude now): Yeah, I just need the shots (then proceeds to dump in my espresso shots into a Frappuccino base with ice cubes) John: Here you go Me (incredulously): Is this a nonfat mocha? John: It's the mocha base Me (trying REALLY hard to be nice at this point): Okay, I'm sorry, I just wanted the iced espresso drink with mocha John (again with attitude): OK, we'll make it over, but it's basically the same thing (grabs cup and dumps it out). He then proceeded to make me a mocha with regular milk, not nonfat. At that point I just gave up and left with the wrong drink. Because you know what? I may not be a barista but I sure as hell know there is a difference between an iced nonfat mocha and a Frappuccino mocha base with ice and espresso shots. SO not the same thing. And thanks for the attitude when I was just trying to get what I actually ordered. The only reason I give them two stars instead of one is that when I come here in the afternoon for a pick me up, I rarely, if ever, have a problem with my order, and they are always busy at that time too. The afternoon shift is much more friendly and accurate. And also, when I went to the Starbucks I normally go to in the morning because I have never had a problem there, they saw the wrong drink in my hand and asked what happened. I told them not to worry about it, it wasn't something I got there, but they told me I didn't have to pay, don't worry about it, and then proceeded to make my drink RIGHT. I tolerate this Starbucks because it's right next to where I work. However, like a previous review mentioned, the employees are terrible listeners. They either don't know the meaning of light ice or they have selective hearing and blocked it out completely. The staff are pretty friendly and professional (which is why it's not 1 star) except for this one girl with dark hair and glasses. She always gives you the most disgusted look and tone whenever she calls your drink or when you ask for something. She seems pretty happy when she's chatting with her coworkers, though. I consistently have a bad experience at this location. The staff is rarely friendly (there are a few exceptions) and they always seem stressed and understaffed. I order ahead of time very often and often my order is wrong, or made sloppily and doesn't taste right. Just today I went in and my drink was supposed to be no ice. It was the salted caramel cold foam. I asked to have it remade. When I waved the gentleman down he did not even speak a word. Just took it and went to remake it. Right in heart of the financial district this place is my oasis of relaxation from my hectic schedule. Great product and fantastic wait staff. Especially the Manager is "happy to meet you" kind of person that brings a smile to me every time I'm there. Considering the craziness of Starbucks, I was elated to receive such fantastic customer service when I called there today. When I told the woman on the phone that I needed a copy of a receipt from almost a week ago, I could tell that this wasn't her usual request. Nonetheless, she (Kelsey - not sure if I'm spelling it right) was VERY friendly and patient and helpful. Within minutes, she found the information I needed. And when she realized that she wouldn't be able to print it, she quickly trouble-shooted again and took a snapshot of the screen with her phone and sent it to me via text. Thank god for technology and thank goodness for awesome employees like Kelsey who make our lives that much easier. This Starbucks is great. I go once or twice a week because I work nearby, and I've never had a bad experience, excluding the fact that sometimes I've had to go sit outside because there aren't any seats available. Recently, they took out some of the larger tables and removed the armchairs, replacing them with a bar to sit at and opening up some more seating space that was sorely needed, so I don't run into the no-space issue as much as I used to. There can be some pretty intense lines of about 15 to 20 people during peak times and they don't always seem to have as many registers open as they should. That said, the quality of the food/drinks is good and the baristas are fantastic pretty much across the board. Given the location, they must deal with a ton of different people each day, but they really try to learn names and personally greet you. There used to be a girl working there called Stephie who was wonderful and made an effort to always use my name, which isn't the easiest name to remember. We get kind of busy during the day, so there might be a small wait for your drink. We have some seating, but unfortunately no outdoor cafe. I don't usually review SB, but this one was rather odd. Was meeting Miss Leighann here prior to a meeting right across the road. Points for being VERY close to South Station, as well as our meeting (I mean, I guess, what SB isn't. I'm sure there were 9 more down the street) but I was surprised at the wait. 5 of us stood in line with a total of 4 peeps behind the counter. Not one person looked at any of us or even acknowledged us. That lasted for a good 5 min before someone finally turned around to take our orders. I understand peeps get busy - trust me, I hear ya - but all you need to do is say: "We'll be with you in a sec." Makes all the difference. Also a little odd they don't call your name when your coffee is ready.
