Took me a while to get out here to try Cocorico Boulangerie because they are located out in the Seaport and have limited hours. They close at 3pm. So when I was going to the newly dubbed Menino Convention and Exhibit Center (previously known as the BCEC), I decided to stop by. I wasn't the only one who decided hitting Cocorico to be a good idea that day. Although with its location in the Omni Hotel, they did also have a convenient customer base from the get go. It took me 15 minutes to get through the line with 3 staffers handling things. I picked up the last Yuzu Strawberry Cruffin for $8. It was huge! And lots of filling. I was staying across the street at the Westin and was looking for a not Starbucks and saw that this was conveniently across the street at the Omni. I must have snuck in right before it got busy because I was only 3rd in line but after I ordered and got my food, there were almost 10 people in line. It was right before 8am on a Friday. The pastries looked amazing but looked a bit too much for what I wanted that morning. And I didn't have much room to carry one back so I opted for an Oatmeal Raisin cookie for later. I was originally a little worried that they only had cold brew for their iced coffee options. Cold brew tends to usually be very acidic but because they had nitro I had a little bit of hope. Pleasant surprise - the nitro cold brew was very smooth! Ended up eating the cookie later and it had a nice taste of cinnamon/nutmeg that you don't usually get such a strong hint of. While visiting Boston and staying at the Westin I was in search of local coffee that wasn't Starbucks. This place happened to be right across the street in another hotel, so it worked out perfectly. I was there early around 6:30 ish so no one was around. I ordered a quad espresso with a splash of heavy cream. The barista was very nice, the guy that took my order answered all my pastry questions. I just left with coffee. The espresso beans were good and not burnt, so overall my coffee was very tasty. I went back before we left for some pastries and more espresso. I ended up getting these small tall cylindrical ones the guy recommended. They were delicious! Definitely enjoyed this spot. read more

Even though I was at the Westin across the street from the Omni I had heard some good reviews so decided to go over one morning for coffee and pastries. I'll start by saying the Parmesan cheese scone and passion fruit cruffin I had were fantastic. The scone was cheesy and garlicky in the best way possible and not over bearing and the texture/bake was dense but still super soft and had a nice crumble without making a mess. The cruffin (croissant muffin) was full of buttery crisp layers and a fresh sweet/tangy passion fruit cream. The downside was that the shop only had one person working when I arrived a little before 7am and the line was long and backing up quickly with coffee orders so in the interest of time (and to help the guy out) decided to skip out on the coffee after waiting 25 minutes and left with just the pastry. I'd say it's definitely worth checking out if staying at the Omni, Westin, or in the convention center area as youre passing by but not sure I'd make it a solo destination. read more

Cocorico has been hyped up on social media recently, so as a coffee and breakfast sandwich connoisseur, I wanted to see if it could live up to the hype. Ultimately, I would say this place is more instagram than reality. Breakfast Sandwich: Their breakfast sandwiches are served on a french breakfast roll, which is a unique twist I have not seen before. These french breakfast rolls are like a bigger fluffier english muffin or a denser brioche. Either way the sandwiches were pretty good, but nothing to go out of the way for. The Harrissa aioli was a selling point but I could barely taste it. Suggestion would be to ask for a side of sauce. Pastries: While the Raspberry Pistachio Croissant looks amazing and is extremely photogenic, it's an average croissant. The pistachio is overpowered by the raspberry to where it's nearly undetectable. The coffee was mediocre. read more

When you enter the front doors, turn left and you'll see a sign with a rooster. You'll notice a glass case with beautiful baked creations! The strawberry cruffin in the display immediately caught my eye--I had to have it! This thing is huge--easily the size of an infant's head. The location is very convenient for hotel guests but this quickly gets lost in the poor attitude of the staff that works here. My partner and I are not avid coffee drinkers so we either stick to cold brews or vanilla iced lattes when we want something sweet. Every time we go with vanilla iced lattes, we let the staff know that we have a dairy allergy and if they can let us know what dairy products are in their drinks. Before you go "well latte = milk", we want to clarify that we have been to over dozens of different coffee shops / cafes where they have defaulted to dairy free milk (I.e oat milk) so again, we make it a practice to always ask. When we ask, it's always polite and respectful so we have never had any issues with this question. Today, when we asked the person at the register the same question we ask every shop / cafe, his response in a snarky and condescending manner was "well what do you think we use?" We like to give people the benefit of the doubt so we politely told him that we have a dairy allergy which is why we asked the question. His response? In the same insolent manner "Well the drink you order obviously uses whole milk so that's what we'll use. You can get milk substitutes if that's what you will like" At that point I told him to cancel the order and to check his attitude. I have zero tolerance for ill-mannered and unprofessional smart asses like this individual. It's ironic and borderline pathetic how quick his demeanor changed after this approach. Based on other negative reviews, it seems other patrons share the same sentiments as us - one pointing out that they messed up their NON dairy drink and several others flagging the disrespectful behavior of the staff. Even though we are aware this shop operates independently from the hotel, I would highly suggest management from both cocorico and Omni hotel to reevaluate if they want these unprofessional individuals to continue representing their brand. TLDR: rude staff with below average service. You can get better service and pretty decent coffee on tap down the hall at the grab and go. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting Cocorico Boulangerie inside the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport, and let me tell you, I am absolutely obsessed with their Cruffins (croissant muffins)! These delectable treats come in at least two mouthwatering flavors: strawberry and caramel. I opted for the praline Cruffin, and it was a so pre and delicious. Pairing it with a caramel macchiato was the perfect choice. Despite the hustle and bustle of a busy workday and a constant flow of people in and out of the hotel lobby (where this coffee shop is located), everything was served quickly, and it all tasted incredibly fresh. Cocorico Boulangerie's attention to quality and flavor, especially with their Cruffins, made this visit a memorable one. The reality--at least for me, and based on two separate visits to be sure--is that it's supermarket quality. Chocolate Croissant: Seemed industrially manufactured (and not same day), dry, and of low quality chocolate. No crackle. No butteriness. Raspberry Pistachio Croissant: The prettiest of the bunch, but give me a croissant with personality. I did like the raspberry, which was along the lines of an old school jelly donut. The croissant itself was again dry and not fresh. Almond Croissant: The best of the bunch, again with no butteriness or freshness, but a slight crackle and ample filling of tasty and very creamy almond cream. Seating is limited. Stopped by on the way to the convention center for a volleyball tournament. The place was packed. Waited in line for about 15 minutes just to order. Kept it simple and got 2 flat whites, 2 breakfast sandwiches, and a pastry. We were given the pastry right way and waited for the rest. And we waited, and waited, and waited, took about 25 minutes to get our sandwiches and that was after seeing them sitting on the back counter and asking the barista to check and see if they were ours. The food and drinks here were absolutely delicious but be warned if you order hot food it will take forever to get it so make sure you allow enough time. On to the food. We got the California breakfast sandwiches and they were delicious. The had eggs, arugula, harissa, and bacon. I wish the eggs would have been more cooked but that's just my personal preference, husband loved his runny eggs. We also got the raspberry pistachio croissant and OMG it was heavenly!! Located in the Omni Hotel im Seaport, Cocorico has quickly become one of my favorite pastry shops in Boston. I had a mini staycation and we got pastries and coffee here before our breakfast. Lines are usually long but they have such a WIDE variety of items to choose from. Everything is fresh and just placed ever so neatly in a box. I got a caramel macchiato with soy milk and it was just made PERFECTLY. Sweetness, creaminess, and ice levels were just 10/10 for me. I also got a chocolate chip cookie that was delightful, an almond croissant, and a chocolate croissant. The almond croissant was probably ranked one of the top croissants I've had in Boston. I would say it's my number one, out of all the bakeries that offer an almond croissant. The chocolate croissant (pain au chocolat) was also delightful. Perfectly flaky and chocolate-y, every bite had me wanting more!! My friend and I cannot wait to come back. This is DEFINITELY worth coming here!!! read more

I was at a conference where this was one of the closest food options. I probably waited 40 minutes in total to order and get my food because they were inundated with conference customers. We thought it would be more of a grab and go kind of place, but it turns out they make each sandwich one at a time, so it really delayed things. The staff were really nice despite having to deal with such heavy customer traffic. I got the pesto chicken sandwich and a cinnamon roll. The sandwich was quite good -- large portion size, saucy, and warm/crusty. The chicken was a bit bare in flavor, but combined with the other ingredients it worked. I heated up the cinnamon roll and had it at home later and it was delicious. Overall I probably wouldn't choose to come here for lunch over other options because it takes a while, but it seems like the baked goods (at least the cinnamon roll) are quite good! A few days ago, I went to this boulangerie in the Omni Seaport hotel to get some breakfast. I got the almond croissant and maple pecan cinnamon roll. I also got a hot jasmine pearls green tea. The pastries were pretty big. The maple pecan cinnamon roll was surprisingly great. It was not too sweet like the ones from Cinnabon. The almond croissant was also delicious and not too sweet. Love the vibe and convenient location in the Omni lobby. The staff are fine, not overly friendly, there to get the orders in and orders out. I got a decaf americano that was way, way too bitter, and also way, way too hot considering they don't have sleeves available. I had to ask for another cup to protect my hand, and there wasn't much care when the coffee lid that wasn't completely closed, popped off, and spilled burning hot coffee on my hand. The almond croissant, though pricey ($7ish?) was huge, heavy, and filling. It took me about 2 days to finish it, and every bite remained flaky, buttery, and filled with almond paste. This review is specifically for their cannele! These are available at lunchtime and are little caramelized rum cakes. They're custardy on the inside and crispy on the outside thanks to their glossy caramelized shell. I think they overdid these a little because it was more burnt tasting then I remember but these have the signature crunch and soft center. A tasty quick pastry! Their indoor displays are beautiful though with both sweet and savory bites. They have plenty of cozy seating in front of their in-hotel cafe and give off a pleasant atmosphere.
