One thing I can rely on with Starbucks is that they do offer brewed coffee based drinks (not just espresso based drinks) and a particular, very flavorful Chai tea latte. We were in the area, running errands, and we decided to swing into this location. We were greeted and assisted by the very friendly Tracy. My hubby had recently signed up for and downloaded the Starbucks rewards app, and, just our luck, there was a $2 off a drink reward available to use, so we did! Tracy also informed us that through the app, she's noticed that Starbucks seems to send out "buy one, get one" offers on Thursdays, so keep an eye on the app. On this day, we ordered two tried and true favorites: the Caramel Frappuccino and a Chai Tea Latte (with a twist). During winter last year, we discovered the Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai Latte and fell in love with it. Unfortunately, it is seasonal and went out of rotation. Thankfully, a wonderful barista out in Las Vegas shared a concoction that we can order throughout the year, and it tastes just like it! It's ordered as a "Brown Sugar Vanilla Oatmilk Chai Latte." It's fantastic! Happily, across the nation, Starbucks has been consistent with our favorite drinks. This Starbucks is no exception. We loved the dog friendly patio at this location as well. This is rural Tennessee. Freight trains, are frequent as the mountain mist. Prosperity, polish and pretentiousness entertained elsewhere, are not hosted here. He's genuine, focused on the best cuppa, perplexed by those who don't appreciate his passion for coffee. One of his faults. I'm probably as acerbic and moody. (Don't answer that.) The current building owner is woefully not interested in updating the property. That's unfortunate and also out of the HH proprietors hands. Interior seating updates however are on the way. And perhaps luring breakfast menu items beyond scones. We shall see. Meanwhile, if you are longing for pretty good coffee, this is a place I would pull off the interstate for. No Starbucks for miles. Grindhead is a funny little spot, directly behind a Dutch Brothers Coffee with a Caribbean/Pirate theme. So I walk in, and I hear from behind the coffee bar, Ahoy Matey to the sound of the Caribbean music playing in the background. The barista was friendly and helpful as we chatted a bit about the shop. I started with one of their seasonal offerings, an Eggnog Latte they called the Clipper. It was nice, but too sweet on the finish for me. That was on me for going that direction as I know the associated risk. Salt is a featured ingredient in a couple of their coffees, and as the barista had shared with me a recipe she makes at home that includes both salt and vanilla, I asked her to please whip up a latte to her home recipe.......now this was a real treat as the coffee, salt and vanilla worked in real harmony for a delightful drink. This shop is not really convenient for me as I have several good coffee house options in my own neighborhood, but I will be back, if nothing else I need to spend my dabloons.

I took a sip of my friend's Crows Nest and I was delighted upon first sip. It was delicious, not too sweet, and good. Maybe if I tried one of their chais or ordered that one, I would've had a better experience. There were so many good things about this place. I thought the coffee shop was cute with the pirate theme and decor. All the employees that we interacted with were wonderful. It's just my drink and the qualms I have with it.
