This is my original Starbucks and where it all started. Located just off 494 and Eden Prairie. It is well run, drive thru works great and is generally speedy. This one has been here for a long time. Great coffee. Lots of work room inside and gender neutral bathrooms. Plenty of parking. Enjoy!

They literally don't even try to be faster! It's coffee, y'all. You shouldn't leave cars sitting at your window for 5 plus minutes. If it's going to be a few minutes on the order you have at your window, pull them forward and serve the next guest. This happens consistently to where they can no longer take anymore orders at the speaker box because their line is so jammed up at the window. It's a never ending cycle the will never get better because "management" has no idea how to fix their bottlenecks. It's absurd. Where is corporate? This store seems forgotten about. Fun fact: I literally had enough time to formulate this entire review with how long it took me to get through the drive thru line.

What do we think of when this Starbucks location comes to mind? A mother's love, a warm blanket on a winter evening, foot massages, the smell of a fresh babies head, Costco's rotisserie chicken, crocs and socks, hotel wall art. You tell us there's nothing sweeter in life than these, and you are right. You say we're crazy to make comparisons so bold. Did we upset you? Well, my friend, then you haven't met Carole. That woman is a creative synthesis of every sweet thing life has to offer. Loving, generous, silly, courageous, wise, and above all - she whips the world's finest chamomile. Don't go to Starbucks for the drinks. Go for Carole. Your cup will surely be full, and by cup I mean your soul. Peace be with you.

I ended up being able to back out of the drive-thru (thank goodness there wasn't anyone behind me) and went inside to pay for my coffee.

I had an awesome breakfast burrito and their awesome Tirimasu Latte (iced), and they have other offerings that will lure me from St Paul for future visits. Specifically, now that I am mourning the loss of Sun Street Breads and its Thursday Night Pizza Night, I'll have to try Smith's version of that. But I'll probably come back for brunch on a weekend pretty soon and get more coffee, as well as something from their bakery. But also, yes, brunch; the eggs in my burrito were really perfect. I was there at around noon on a Sunday; peak busy times so parking was a little hairy but I eventually found a spot. I absolutely recommend coming with a bunch of pals and hanging out for a good long time, but maybe don't all drive separately if it's noon-ish on a weekend. They have a lovely patio area which was well-populated, even on this extra-sunny mid-February day. If you like adorable cafes, you will definitely love this place.

I immediately started looking at coffee shops that I could relocate to in order to work. I had been wanting to go try Smiths for a while but the opportunity just never presented itself despite being just down the road. I arrived and the driveway leading to the parking lot was lined with cars, but I was able to find a spot in the parking lot after a minute or so. It was definitely a full lot for sure. The location is absolutely adorable as this is a historic house. It was once a Dunn Brothers, but I do love that it is its own thing now rather than a chain. They had a outdoor patio that people were enjoying but it was a bit chilly for working and sitting outside, one person even had a dog which I LOVE! Inside the front door you are greeted with a welcoming counter that you can order. I opted to try the salted caramel iced latte. If you are consuming there (which I was) they give you a number to bring to your table and they bring the drink. I really liked this idea especially in the aspect of not having to stand and wait for a drink. The price was a bit high (7.55 for a 16 oz with $1 tip), but then again everything is getting expensive these days. I walked back to the seating area and there are essentially 3 rooms downstairs, I walked through all 3 to see where working would be ideal. I went upstairs but there was a woman in the room so I assumed it was a group that was meeting or something so I opted to not investigate further. I found seating downstairs in what felt like the quietest part, but there were a lot of people there talking and the acoustics were not exactly fantastic. I did have a call which I took via teams and air pods and discovered the sound in the room was actually really not awesome for a meeting as it was quite loud and the wifi was not strong enough to support the video on the teams call. So would I recommend working from Smith, not if you have a meeting, but if you are looking for a place that has some background noise, I guess... However this is certainly a place that is perfect for meeting someone and enjoying breakfast or coffee and I love that. I did not order food this time, but everything I saw get delivered looked delicious. I also noticed they have a pizza night on Thursday nights and immediately made a note of that for a date night with the hubby.

There is plenty of parking in the lot outside of Qamaria! The interior is well-done, with elevated finishes and themed decor. I was excited because it looked like a cozy place to grab a coffee! The staff were not very friendly during my ordering process, and just seemed not happy to be at work. Unfortunately, the wifi didn't work for me, so I couldn't actually complete any work. I stuck to reading my book, which was great until they started playing music inside (randomly like an hour after I got there). Now music in a coffeeshop is fine, but this music was staticy, skipped often, and was incredibly distracting. I eventually just got up and continued reading in my car because the workers either couldn't fix it or didn't know how. The Pistachio latte had good pistachio flavor, but I have qualms with a coffeeshop that charges $8 for a latte, and then proceeds to slop it together...no foam, no latte art, and so hot that the milk was scalded. In a world where there is a coffee shop on every corner, you can find better elsewhere for sure. I don't mind paying top dollar for a latte these days, but I deserve it to be well-done.

By time I reached the register a second person came in help. I ordered the caramella and a matcha latte. The staff were very nice and made sure I liked the drinks I got. Looked like they had a decent assortment of baked goods as well & very reasonably priced. The space was generally quiet and chill. Wasn't super busy but seemed like a place everyone goes to work. I had to think when growing up it may have been considered some kind of sin to suggest serving coffee and light food in a church. "John how dare you spew blasphemy", Sister Mary Francis would say. A very friendly setting that is uber clean. There was a cleaner working while I was there and then someone came from the elevator with more cleaning equipment. I saw a nice display of pastries but tried the pre made sandwich which was still fresh. They feature a light and dark roast in the standard three sizes. The dark roast, which the barista suggested, had a deep roasted flavor with a non-acidic aftertaste. They asked if I would wait while they made a fresh brew for me, and I was glad to have the drink minutes fresh. As great as the product was the attraction is the airy, arty walls and soft lighting for a relaxing almost, shall we say, spiritual awakening. Ok a bit of hyperbole.
