I pass by here every time I go visit my sister in the valley so I'm there every 2-3 weeks or so. I think there's like one employee that actually takes his time & doesn't make you feel rushed in all the times I've been there. Which I get, being at work sucks. Anyway, this last experience is what encouraged me to write a review because the girl at the headset & window, I believe her name tag said Ella, was so unpleasant. I get when employees are very passive & just want to get through you, but this girl was cutting me off, and could not hide how annoyed she was in her voice - even my 9 year old said "wow, she was rude!" She didn't say anything when I came up to the window or when she handed me my drink, just a blank stare. No "hello", nothing. The issue I have with that is that it was absolutely uncalled for, i wasn't being difficult at all. There was just no need for it. So for those of you who have noticed the address of this place.... you're probably thinking 1 of 2 things... 1) where the F*CK is Kettleman City? or 2) why the F*CK were you in Kettleman City? So to answer the first question, Kettleman City is off the 5 Freeway, about 60-70 miles Northwest of Bakersfield. And to naturally answer the 2nd question, I was on my way up to a conference just outside of Santa Rosa, up in the bay area. Now that we have those 2 pieces of vital information out of the way, on with the review. Typical Starbucks. The line was long because this is one of the few pit stops along the 5. Plus there is an In N Out about 100 yards away, so a lot of people were filling up on burgers and coffee. Woot!! It was cold, rainy, and I need a pick me up for the drive, so I got a venti hazelnut latte. Just the way I like it. The staff was nice and did their best to keep the drinks coming. Kettleman City lures you with the In N Out, but the Starbucks is what hooks you. read more

There was no one in the drive thru before or after me and according to a passenger who hopped out of the car and inside the shop to use the restroom there was no one ordering at the counter either ...yet still took ridiculously long to get a Tall Vanilla Latte, by the time it arrived I was thoroughly disenchanted and underwhelmed (by the service unfortunately too). We stopped by on the way to Grand Canyon. Definitely one of the most inefficient Starbucks. There are not enough baristas. They are working hard, but just not enough numbers. They need to handle drive-thru and in-store. When I was in line, several cars were also in line, and cars seem to have priority. So the line in-store was getting longer and longer. I just wanted to have a small cup of coffee, so it's not efficient. read more

Just went through the drive through and they messed up our order. My boyfriend ordered a caramel macchiato. Instead, he got an iced latte with soy. Which would be a minor convenience but this is a major mistake. He's allergic and his throat started to itch. Luckily for him, the allergy isn't so bad but I feel like the baristas need to be more aware of what people ordered... Just double check, please. Most people like my smart boyfriend don't bother looking at labels before they put something in their mouths. We also waited for some time before someone came to the drive thru window. Its a starbucks..got my drink, it was good and I left. there was no line so I was in and out.

I stopped by during a rest stop. This lady with glasses and a light blue shirt took my order. No one was at a register, so my family and I waited for someone to approach the register since they looked overwhelmed. We're not going to wait impatiently in front of the register while the staff is trying to finish the DT line. Then the lady approached the register and said "are you guys going to order today?" With attitude. The audacity of speaking to a guest like this is wild to me. Especially when we were being patient and waiting for them. And she gave me the wrong beverage. Don't be a leader/ manager if you can't handle the pressure. read more

It's a chain coffee shop so you expect consistency with your orders, but make sure you check before leaving this location. I ordered a caramel macchiato with almond milk- a standard order in my opinion so I didn't think to take a sip before leaving. It tasted like a cup of steamed almond milk- either that or they just didn't put any caramel in this caramel drink. I was already back on the road so it was too late to turn around. My bagel was extra toasted as ordered so yay for that saving grace. The baristas were really nice for 5am and bathrooms were clean. Still sad about my drink though. read more

My husband and I were refused service at this store 11 minutes before closing time. The closing time posted on the starbucks app, Google Maps and the store window all said 11:30. We arrived at 11:19. As we pulled up they turned off the menu light when they saw us. We tried talking to them through the speaker and were ignored. We then went up to window where my husband asked if they were closed. They looked at us and then looked away. We were on a road trip with 2 babies, exhausted and planned to stop at this Starbucks from 2 hours away based on the info we saw on the app. My husband and I are gold members and each buy a starbucks drink at least once a day. This review would be one star if not for our previous experience in which the drinks came out fine, but the service took a bit long. This time however, we used the drive thru and even though it was moderately busy, it should not take 27 minutes to get our drinks. They waited until we got up to the window to tell us 2/3 drink choices were not available. The bathroom could have used a spin... high traffic area since it is the last decent pit stop for miles. The service was quick enough and within a few minutes all parties had their beverage. You can't really mess up a latte.. so we were all good to go. There is a drive thru for those who don't need to walk around for a bit. read more

Long overdue report from this summer. I'm not the hardcore driver who can do a trek from LA to SFO in one sitting. On both trips, I stopped in Kettleman City and the lone starbucks was there. Literally, as Lorrie mentioned in her review, the half-way point in my drive. What I liked: -the only Starbucks in town practically. Yes, In & Out would have been an option, but a Frapp was calling my name. -very friendly staff, good WiFi signal -really chill crowd. Families, friends, team squads seem to stop by here. Pretty friendly, I overhead ppl giving each other directions. Why no fifth star: -at times, the Starbucks was claustrophobic Would stop by here on my next SoCal-NorCal trip. read more

Pretty clean and nice. BF and I stopped by here on our way back from SoCal. There is a drive through which is good! The only thing was the lady was super confused by our order.... Grande Ice Coffee with 4 pumps of White Chocolate...She kept thinking it was white chocolate mocha...uhm NO. We just wanted 4 pumps of white chocolate syrup... idk why that was confusing. Anyway that took awhile and we were charged $3.05. I'm pretty sure you're not suppose to add extra moneys on our drink. Every time I get the Venti size of this order I only pay $2.90. read more

Cant speak to the service or the product on this one. Daughter left her purse on the back of the chair. Used bathroom and left. Realized her mistake and came back in 20 minutes and purse was gone. Called police. No one able to access video cameras. Has to be district mgr was what she was told. I know was daughters fault but staff was not helpful. drink was okay (iced coffee with breve) but what was appalling was the state of the store and the condiment bar. it doesn't take long to do customer service slide/lobby... napkins restocked, milks restocked, wipe down, shove all that trash, and change it out. I was a partner for over 12 years, it takes a little more dedication and some hustling but it can be done. no customer waiting for the drink would have complained if a barista was cleaning the bar and changing out all the full trash cans- especially if some sort of personal connection was made. Ordered one drink through the drive through. Took almost 10 minutes to get a hot drink when I ordered an iced drink and there was only one car ahead of us. I didn't want to wait for another so I didn't correct the order. Instead we asked for napkins and the woman told us to hold on a sec. She walked off and started preparing other drinks. She kept glancing back over and other employees walked by, but no one opened the window. After two or three minutes of watching her and others focus on preparing drinks we drove off. read more
