Came here for an early breakfast on Saturday morning, and it was busy because it's Memorial Day weekend. The table and bathrooms were clean! The food was a little disappointing, it was $20.39 for the plate or two tiny sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs and hash browns. It didn't look anything like the picture. We slept over in Kettleman City on the way back to NorCal, and came here for brunch. Unfortunately, they were out of a lot of items--so ordering was a bit of a guessing game. They were out of apples, chocolate chips, their blender was broken, etc. etc so we each settled for our 4th-5th choice of items. The food came quickly and was decent, but service was pretty slow and we had to ask for items multiple times. The bathrooms were pretty dirty--I was surprised that a restaurant restroom was at that state. Paper towels were out, the counters were a mess, the toilet in one stall wasn't working and another stall was flooded. When I was in the restroom, a mother was changing her baby in the last stall. A staff member came into clean, and banged on the stall door repeatedly asking the mom to open the door so she could clean. The mom did, but this kind of behavior seemed inappropriate and made me uncomfortable. read more

My family and I waited for at least 10 minutes before someone came to seat us this morning. We came here for a quick breakfast around 9:20am before getting back on the road. Everything we ordered was delicious and our waitress was great after we got seated and give us water and took our order right away. She has excellent service. I read the reviews out loud and it was decided - we must stop and see if this location lived up to the hype. Is it the Best Denny's in the world? While i don't know how high of a distinction that claim actually is I think this location probably deserves it. It's the best I have been to. The staff is very friendly. Service was fast. Honestly even the lighting was warm and inviting - and the Christmas music at the perfect volume was a nice touch. The food was...Denny's...but hit the spot after driving in the rain. I stopped at this Denny's in Kettleman City expecting to order from the Value Menu like I'd seen advertised online. When I got there around 11 AM on a Friday, they only gave me the regular menu -- no mention of the Value Menu at all. I assumed it wasn't available, so I ended up spending about $35 instead of the ~$20 I had planned. Turns out the Value Menu was available.... they just didn't offer it or let me know. Super frustrating and feels misleading. If you're stopping here expecting any kind of deal, be ready to ask for it specifically... or you'll be paying full price without knowing your options. It's still a diner but we had a great experience due to the server. Super friendly and let us know what wasn't fresh and what to order. Kids got a kids meal which came with a free side. One kid got Mac and cheese with bacon and the other got a cheeseburger with fries. Both were a hit esp with apple juice and a mango smoothie. The adults got an ultimate omelette with cheesy hash browns and salmon with fresh broccoli and rice. Even the kids liked the fish! Sneaky. There are several reasons why this place was DEAD on a Saturday at 7pm. The inside smells of burnt food. The server seemed friendly but only offered us the full price menu. Only after hearing us balk at the outrageous prices did she bring out the $10 value menu. They still got us for $5.59 for a Coke. Our food took a long time and was only warm on arrival. You could tell it was sitting on the shelf even though there were literally ourselves(2 adults) and a party of 4 in the entire place on a Saturday night. Poorly managed. If they were forthright with the menus, got the food out fast and aired out the place they might increase their business. read more

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat after a long drive. The service did not disappoint!! Gabriel (I think that's his name) was so sweet and made sure you were well taken care of. The other workers also checked on me to see how I was doing. Usually when I go to Dennys the workers do not talk to each other, but at this one they were all communicating with each other which was nice. I'm not a huge Denny's fan and I struggle to take the 5 down south or back home. But our server Gabriel was an excellent server, cheerful and helpful from the minute we walked in the door of this busy Denny's. Denny's has gotten more expensive and the menu has decreased in breadth. I opted for a Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger(veggie patty please) and my teen chose the Chicken Tenders dinner with barbecue sauce. The strawberry lemonade hit the spot and the food was All-American goodness. I'm glad we opted for a sit down diner over a fast food drive-through. This was an all-around fail. - Appetizer served with no plates to eat on. - We got the wrong food. - Cold food. - Shriveled tomatoes in my salad, which were on top, so I didn't eat it, wondering what I couldn't see. - Mashed potatoes had the same consistency as the gravy. - Brisket Skillet was really overcooked. - The chicken fried steak and eggs were overcooked and rubbery. - Another chicken fried steak dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy arrived with no mashed potatoes, just broccoli. Later, they brought out the runny mashed potatoes and gravy. There were three front-of-house employees and a total of three tables: - A table of three (us). - A table of two, with people arguing with the employees. - A table of four. Since we had to be in Sacramento, we decided to just suck it up and go. I went to the counter to pay, and the three neglectful employees were in a disagreement with two customers. Since I had children with me, I paid rapidly to get out. Once driving, I thought for Denny's, that was expensive. But like I said, I had places to be. The next day, I checked my receipt, and we were given the wrong check. It was for four adults, all with drinks and upgrades. There were three of us, and one was off the senior menu. We were driving back home from Los Angeles. Sunday traffic was at a crawl... three nearby fires created a traffic jam. Two fields caught on fire as while as a car. Oh my! Plus throw in valley temps soaring at 106, all that created a need for us to find some air conditioned respite and fuel up both the car and ourselves. Kettleman City was our immediate oasis. Right off the freeway were several gas stations and a Denny's. Off to Denny's. This Denny's has indoor dining, thank goodness. Face masks were worn by all staff. The bathroom was clean but outdated. They are not socially distancing tables. But you can ask to be socially distanced, they will accommodate if they have the space. Gabriel, our server, was a ray of sunshine. He provided outstanding customer service with an awesome attitude. He provided us a few needed laughs. We got our food quickly and all four orders came out the same time. Great. My order of the chicken garden salad was $8.79. It was huge, the grilled chicken was a generous serving size. I couldn't finish the salad. It was enough for two people. I enjoyed it. The others in my party ordered a Turkey club with fries and a couple of breakfast plates. The fries were large steak fries size. They provided us prepackaged utensils. Everyone enjoyed their meals. It was not groundbreaking cuisine. Just good ole basic diner fare served quickly to folks like us that are traveling through. read more

We were on our way to SoCal and stopped for a bite to eat around 6 PM on a Friday. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant. Our server, Gabriel, was great. Super friendly and prompt and helpful. We'd ordered a veggie burger, but they were out of patties, so minus a star for that. There isn't much to eat at Denny's that's vegetarian, but Gabriel suggested a modified Club Sandwich -- avocado instead of turkey. It was really good and I'm glad he said something, because we were about to leave without options. We also ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and wanted to exchange the side of bacon for fruit. Gabriel initially told us he couldn't swap, but later said he'd make the change for us and he did. The pancakes were way too sweet to eat -- like, you can feel the abundance of sugar on your teeth. Fruit was great. We realized later that we were charged $1.49 for swapping chicken with avocado. That was pretty lousy, so minus another star for that. If management ever reads this, give Gabriel a bonus and do better with your vegetarian inventory and policies. read more

This is our second time here. We had a short time frame as we were charging our car next door. We were seated immediately as there were only a few customers. My family and I were greeted warmly by Gabrial, he had such great energy and acknowledged and greeted my kids as well. He asked us our preference for a table or booth. Our food came out quickly after ordering. Everything came out right, looked and tasted great. Gabrial even brought out plenty of ranch without us even asking. Gabriel was very polite and courteous, great customer service which is hard to encounter these days. The place was spotless as there were workers cleaning the floor and wiping the tables. Another server greeted us when we were done eating and quickly brought us a container and check. She provided great service in such a short interaction. When I went to pay, another customer was waiting and asked for condiments as Gabrial approached. He acknowledged the other customer but also kindly asked if she could wait while he helped "this nice lady first." Denny's is Denny's but you're on the road, and you're going here whether you want to or not. The kids menu is fantastic. The cheeseburger was 100% beef and actually a whole burger, not a mini one. It comes with one side for kids. Great value. Why this Denny's is awesome is the service. It starts at the top so whoever the manager is, bravo! True and sincere customer service.
