The line was insane the entire time we were in the area (which was about an hour). The store was clean and well maintained. The staff was super upbeat and friendly even though their rush never let up! They all seemed genuinely happy and were very personable with their regulars as well as their tourists. Visited twice while in Lihue on vacation...both times the staff was unpleasant and the first time, I had to have my drink remade. It wasn't any better when I received the replacement, and the barista was visibly irritated over having to remake the drink. The 2nd visit was no better...different staff, and two of the three staff members were fighting over who didn't take an order another customer placed via mobile 20 min. prior. starbucks is never anything special, just a corporate latte cafe. it's hard for me to love starbucks when the world has many nicer, local cafes and coffee houses. why would i go to starbucks all the way on kaua'i? do some tourists miss home that much that they need to get something that reminds them of home? do the locals appreciate this starbucks cos it's something different, something from the mainland? well, it's definitely a decently clean place with air.conditioning, a place to get a cool, blended drink on a hot, humid day. my wife ordered a mocha banana vivanno smoothie. she actually liked it plenty n' seemed to appreciate that starbucks is offering more healthier options. yeah, that's cool. usually my wife is the first to rag on bad service. she didn't feel like the service was bad at this starbucks, but i kind of felt it wasn't very good. i wonder why they don't serve local kaua'i coffee. is local kaua'i coffee just a tourist thing? how come they don't serve kona coffee though? they just serve the usual starbucks stuff like pike's place. read more

got a drink here twice during our honeymoon. it really just was OK. the line can get really long and it doesn't move very quick...luckily they do keep up with the drinks so those came out fast. both times one of the cashier/barista person was kinda rude. just left a sour taste in the mouth ya know...no need for the 'tude lady. Dunno, she just rubbed my husband the wrong way the first visit, and the 2nd time with me when I asked her a simple question and she basically talked down to both of us each time, crazy. Oh well. Come to this starbucks frequently when I'm on the island. Be aware, it is right in the mall right where the parking lot begins. Because of it's location it is always busy. So, if you're a starbucks fanatic like I am be prepared for a wait. read more

I don't know what happened to this Starbucks. Over the last year they have dramatically declined in the quality of its service. Some days the baristas are very cheerful and things go very smoothly but other days the barista taking my order is a complete bitch with unecessary attitude. Like i went in today to get my usual iced drink and off the bat i was greeted with a staight face and a "hi" ; like what is the problem here? Are they over-worked? I generally get pretty good service when I go to Starbucks, but this place takes the cake! The company wants every customer to feel like it's your "third place" (i.e. Home, work, Starbucks!) and I definitely felt that at this store. The baristas were speedy and welcoming, but still took the time to get to know me. Vicky and the crew hold it down everyday. Sometimes it can get a bit busy during the morning rush hour. Be patient, this is the only Starbucks in Lihue. FREE Wifi. Some comfortbale seating is available. The staff here really take it to the level. I always leave with a smile on my face. read more

Starbucks! My favorite.. The service is great and the staffs are friendly..I always love their mocha frappuccino and hot mocha drinks! Location is ok but the area is so small for me. The chairs compared to the other starbucks outlet are not that comfortable and because of it's location, it is always busy. How i wish i can enjoy my coffee while relaxing and reading a little bit in a corner of the area but you cannot do that because it is always crowded. I should have read the reviews first. Horrible place there weren't that many people and I got a croissant to heat it up it took over 10 min. They burned the first one. A man in front of me waited even longer just to have his heated up. I was late to my appointment and when I told them just give it to me and don't hear it up, it was sitting on the counter like I was the one that didn't pick it up. I observed that the floor manager does not use a full scoop of beans when the floor manager brews coffee. I drink bold and it is the weakest coffee I've ever had at Starbucks. This Floor Manager cheets the customer every day. read more

Went to order a smoothie, asked for extra ice to pour in a larger cup. Three baristas were then consulting on this and agreed they could not give me anymore than would fit in the smaller cup! They made a scene in front of the growing line of customers. To add to this I was using a free drink pass and they said especially not with that. I even offered to just pay for the drink and pay extra if necessary. Still no. In the end I just paid for a large coffee. I understand company policy. I have worked for Starbucks since I was 15. I also understand it is not their policy to be rude and make a scene in front of the customers. But one star for the wifi that allowed me to make this review :) read more

The quality of the coffee at this Starbucks has declined. I ordered a double nonfat latte and it barely tasted like a single. It was not the strong, robust flavor I'm used to in Seattle. I thought they had made a mistake and they made me another. Again, very weak and tasking primarily of milk. I had to toss it. I had a cold brew here last week and it was great. I'll try again in a few weeks for a latte to see if a different batch of beans helps. read more

I would like to share a great customer service experience that I had tonight at the Starbucks at Kukui Grove. As a visitor to Kauai every 2-3 years, every moment I spend on the island is precious. This evening my wife was searching for the special Hawaiian Starbucks Christmas ornament. I wanted to find the ornament myself, but honestly, I didn't want to call all the Starbucks on the island. On the drive back to our hotel, we drove by Kukui Grove and decided to drop by Starbucks to see if they had the ornament. We walked in and didn't see the ornament on the shelves so one of the senior staff members came by to help us, Noelani. The place was buzzing, just like it was 3 years ago when we went there to get a cup of coffee. Noelani was extremely busy; she mentioned that she was sorry that we had to wait for her to assist us because she was training a couple of new staff members. She offered to help us find the ornament by calling the other Starbucks in the area but asked if it would be ok with us if she could call us later in the evening, during her "personal" break time. We understood that she was busy but appreciated the fact that she was conscientious enough to offer to call us back with an update on the search, which she did 90 minutes later. She had great news, she found the ornaments in another cabinet in the store but apologized for not being able to spend more time with us when we were there earlier. My wife and I were impressed that despite the fact that she was so busy, she continued to search for the ornament for us and made it a point to follow through with the call to us. Much thanks to Starbucks for having employees like Noelani that care about customer service. She is a star in our book. read more

This is the worst Starbucks ever! The shift supervisors and some of staff is really rude and they give customers and employees attitude. If you don't want to help people in a friendly way then quit!! They also closed hours early in the past till now and they mess up your order all the time. I would recommend doing mobile orders so you don't have to encounter staff rudeness and you can usually walk in and walk right out (unless they're busy and haven't made your drink yet). I worked at a Starbucks in the mainland and this Starbucks so I know how things are supposed to have been ran and this one has very poor customer service. Let alone that Starbucks mission is about providing quality customer service and making everyone feel welcomed. If you come in the morning don't expect them to make your morning any better and don't even expect them to greet you or smile because they don't. I couldn't imagine working there with the rude staff and not enough people what so ever. Very disappointed! read more

On Sunday, November 4th at 540 AM I came into the Kukui Grove Starbucks. I noticed one customer exiting before I left and 5 other customers who had already received their orders still in the store or just outside. There was noone in line behind me. I asked the woman taking my order if they do the Pumpkin Spice Iced Lattes in trente size (I generally get a trente iced coffee). She snottily replied, "No. That is just for teas." So I said, "That's fine, I'll take a vente and the Turkey & Stuffing Panini." She said in her most unpleasant tone, "We don't have that." So I looked up at the menu with the other featured sandwiches and she tapped on the glass of the display case next to me with her fingers and said, "This is what we have to eat." So I said, "Just the coffee." And I did not tip HER. I held my tip for just the barista. She walked over to the barista before my coffee was made and told her I didn't tip. Well,...the rude woman had two pennies, a dime, and a nickel in her tip jar so far for the morning so she must have been just as pleasant with all the customers before me! After the barista made my coffee I handed her the tip and told her, "This is for YOU. I am not tipping your co-worker. She is rude." I feel sorry for the barista for having to pool tips with such a rude person who undoubtedly affects her tips the entire shift they work together. She was doing her job and the only reason I gave two stars was for her sake. The other woman deserves zero stars nor does she deserve her job. read more

If you have a half hour to stand in line to order, this is the place for you! Slow moving line and people wandering around not helping the two people who were actually working. Girl on the register Ku-lei was doing her best and was friendly. She didn't have to walk far to place the cups because the line literally ended at her register. One guy was emptying trash but had his apron on so wet coffee grounds and other trash were going all over his apron which was gross. Another girl was apparently in charge of warming food but would just stand there and clamp the food tongs open and shut while she was leaning against the oven waiting for the food to warm up and then would walk it down and put it down on the counter without saying anything. Girl on bar was rocking it all by herself and had to call out the food as well (Macie- you rock!) she was very friendly and thanked me for waiting so long for my drink (Americano). Only saw one other worker (really tall curly hair girl) who popped out to tell the leaning warming person to go on a break before she disappeared and the worker emptying trash then proceeded to come out into the lobby with the dirtiest rag I have seen to wipe down tables and chat with people he knew. I try to avoid this Starbucks whenever I can now. Service has gone downhill in last three months or so and workers are clearly not happy. Go to the Safeway Starbucks if you MUST have Starbucks, otherwise visit Ha coffee on Rice Street for a much better experience and better tasting coffee. read more

I usually use the Starbucks App to order and today was the third time that got my order wrong. One time the order was forgotten, once it was the wrong drink, and today it was the wrong sandwich. I don't usually complain because I understand that it's the morning and it's stressful on the workers and things happen. But today I was really upset because of the way the workers handled the mistake. I had ordered the chorizo breakfast sandwich, which it said on the wrapping, but it was a bacon sandwich. I brought it in so they could fix the mistake. When I went in and told them the girls didn't even look at me or apologize, they threw the old sandwich in trash and made me a new one. I would've appreciated if they had at least acknowledged me and apologized, the mistake wasn't my fault. The workers need to work on their customer service, even though it's busy and it's the morning they should still treat their customers nicely. I won't be going to this Starbucks anymore. read more
