Otherwise I thought service was friendly and fast, and I also thought my "local breakfast" sandwich was pretty good..just not for $20.. It had small circular slices of Portuguese sausage in the sandwich, but I don't feel like they added enough for the price. The croissant was pretty good, just a little over toasted. They went heavy with the mayo, which I'm not mad at since the egg was dry. The sandwich came with some chips as well. Seating is available outside and inside. Not the friendliest vibes here. Not sure if it was an off day for their employees, but def not welcoming. Even when you ask a question, the female employee taking the order just has a resting not so nice face and just looks at you as if you're an idiot or you're not speaking English. Maybe it's the younger generation's way of customer service nowadays, but certainly not the best feeling. The barista was fine, although very limited interaction. Ordered the Matchaloha iced with oat milk sub, and literally tastes like iced oat milk with some matcha. It was unsweetened, and they didn't even give an option. Maybe I should've known?? Coffee in Hawaii just hits different. We were in Kauai for a week long vacation and I tried to hit as many local Coffee spots as possible. They were all great, but I think this was my favorite. I came here twice. I love a hazelnut latte, so I ordered their version which is called The Queen. It's a hazelnut latte with some coconut added. It was amazing. Hit the spot and got my day started right. I always order my coffee hot too. I know iced coffee is more popular, but my boomerish self has to have hot coffee. The burrito was ok, probably would not order that again (and not the end of the world, but there were pieces of eggshells in our burritos), but we both thought breakfast sandwich was delicious! I ordered an iced Anahola Honey, which is a latte sweetened with local honey. If you enjoy the taste of honey, you'll agree that this drink hits the spot. The honey flavor is not subtle at all and although it's sweet, I didn't think it was too much. Ali'i Coffee is a small coffee shop with friendly staff, quite a few options on their menu and its approved by kids as well (mine and I've seen other families with kids trying out their sweet treats for breakfast). There are also a few savory breakfast/lunch quick eat options as well. Had to try their taro ube latte...super rich in color, flavor and sweetness made it feel like you were drinking a dessert. A couple of sips and it was done. I also ordered the Prince Latte (caramel & sea salt). This drink had more of a stronger coffee flavor which is what I was looking for. We shared the Maffles (mochi waffles) and the kids devoured it and left me one bite. As some of the others have mentioned, it is a bit expensive but it is the going rate for "signature" coffee's in the SF Bay Area. The counter to view the menu and place your order is covered and there's a small area inside if you wanted to sit down and eat/drink. Great place to start your day. Walk past Old Koloa Town to the Koloa Village and you'll find Ali'i Coffee. Walk up and order at the window. Friendly staff, and food & drinks come out quick. My daily go to stop for coffee during our trip! Tried a few of their coffees, but my go to favorite is the Anohola Honey. Perfectly sweet with a tasting blend of coffee and honey. Was enough to satisfy my craving. You have the option of either ice or hot and 12 oz or 16 oz. Each time I go to order in the morning, there are about 1-2 people in front of me. I wait for coffee for about 2-3 minutes though. Seats are mostly taken outside if its a bright sunny day, otherwise, it can be free. So lucky to have come across this kiosk at the Koloa outdoor marketplace. Haven't had this since my days on Oahu so it was great to come across them on Kauai. While they could probably taste a little stronger with the taro and the ube they still did not disappoint.
